Decided to stop off at this little pub for a spot of lunch in the 'snug/bar area' before our planned spa retreat. What a treat!! Absolutely gorgeous place that oozes charm with such a warm and friendly atmosphere and welcome. Meals were so delicious and the cocktails were amazing too. If you are in the area or fancy a drive to a beautiful location with plenty of stunning walking spots then give this place a try. You definitely won't be dissapointed 😊

The Meynell Ingram is a charming pub. The pub still has its original ceiling beams and fire place giving a real warm welcoming feeling in the winter. The pub has been extended and has two large restaurants with beautiful decor. The staff were friendly and incredibly efficient. The pub is a 5 minute drive from Hoar Cross Hall offering an alternative location for a meal if doing a day in the spa. The food is traditional beautifully presented home cooked pub food. Cannot fault the place and been back numerous times since.

This pub has had a special place in my hart and have visited it off and on since 1984. Many Landlords have come and gone and currently there is no visible front of house Manager. Currently owned by by international conglomerate Redcat, which owns over 100 UK Pubs. Head honcho is Indian born Walsall man Rooney Anand was an ex Green King CEO and funded by £500m fund from Los Angeles. Redcat currently has entered administration and several pubs have gone for the chop. My meal was crap and deserved no mention, my colleagues however had acceptable fare and the price was acceptable too. Service by young staff, who will no doubt be gone as soo as next term commences. This fine establishment needs to re-invent itself and bring on a knowledgeable Publican to take charge and make the Meynell experience a joyous one again

What a stylish and lovely restaurant. The service was excellent. All of the team front of house were very attentive. We ordered from a new menu; chicken supreme with chive mashed potato, vegan risotto and linguine pasta. All delicious and just the right amount of food. The vegan risotto was divine and the hazelnuts on top gave it a great texture. The chicken was delicious and the pasta (from a non-pasta eater) was amazing! We will definitely return. We want to try the pods outside and have some pizza!! A nice buzz in the pub, generally a good vibe. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Very disappointed with the service we received. We had preordered our food as we were a group of 10, but one of our group had to wait 20mins for her main to arrive, no chorizo in a burger, which when it did come came as a slice on a plate!, then we weren't asked if we wanted any condiments and whether we were enjoying our meal, we all felt we had been forgotten about as we were in a side room, it did put a dampner on our evening out.

We have been the Meynell many times and we have always really enjoyed the food and service however things have changed…! The place was empty yet the service was really poor.. the waiter didn’t know anything that we asked, no one checked if any of the 9 of us had any food allergies, a pile of cutlery was thrown in the middle of the table, no napkins.. service was slow especially the drinks and when the food came out it was not to the standards it had been… my daughters steak was inedible and tasted of charcoal.. the garlic bread was burnt.. the trio of roasts were a big let down and we had nearly eaten the food by the time the condiments arrived… table wasn’t cleared yet they came asking if we were ready to give the desert order but we hadn’t even given been given the menus! Such a shame as we used to love this place but we won’t be returning.

What happened? When visiting, we have been for dinner many times and loved the food. However, I can no longer say the same. I had a beef and red wine pie which was almost inedible. The meat was mainly tough, pale fat and what was meat, I couldn't cut as it was so tough. The few squares of carrots were almost raw. The gravy was watery and tasteless and the puff pastry undercooked and soggy. The cabbage on the side was not cooked. The whole meal was luke warm. My partner had the lamb which was tough, stringy and dry. Absolutely nothing was of the quality it used to be and certainly had no resemblance to the photos on the website. By far the worst meal I have been out for and the first time I have ever felt we wasted a large sum of money for a meal out. Bar service was extremely slow and some staff looked disheveled.

Very disappointed with our meal last night. We waited over an hour and 15 minutes for food to arrive, the drinks order was wrong, the medium rare steak was well done and we didn't receive part of our food order. The waiting on staff were very attentive but mistakes like this shouldn't be happening in a high end establishment, no matter how busy they are. We've always had excellent experiences here before, so it's sad to see standards have dropped to this degree.

Whilst we were told that there was a new menu and a few things might not be perfect I never expected the food to be inedible. Burgers and bun burnt to a crisp, runny pate and a crab linguine that was cold, greasy and missing the crab. We waited an hour and a half too for the for the food. I am beyond disappointed as I pretty much grew up in the pub. The only two saving graces were the waiting staff who could not have been more helpful and friendly, and the fact that the manager discounted the food off the bill.

The Meynell used to be my favourite local pub for any occasion meal. Unfortunately it’s not what it used to be, we were shocked as to why the car park was so quiet when we arrived as previously it had always been so popular. On arrival we were shown to our table where the waiter had no idea what drinks they were serving. The Camembert starter was like warm and solid with 3 pieces of bread for two people. When the main course arrived my steak was missing the peppercorn sauce, the chef then came out to argue with the server about if the peppercorn sauce was added to the order. I also was given no steak knife and we weren’t asked if we wanted any drinks with the mains. When I asked for water I was brought some lukewarm tap water in a dirty glass bottle. When paying the bill we were given dirty looks and tutted at when we didn’t want to offer a tip on the card machine. All in ally birthday meal was ruined and my favourite pub is not what it was. You’d be better off at Rugeley Maccies!

We went to the Meynell after hearing lots of good reports about it over the past few years. We went this Sunday last for a Sunday lunch. I booked that morning and was surprised to be able to get a table for four at last minute. The phone lines didn’t seem to be open for some time though and calls weren’t picked up till about 12.10pm but nevertheless we got our table. When we arrived the staff seemed very pleasant and showed us to our table for four . We were even allowed to change our table according to our preference , further into the restaurant. I did notice once sat down that although the cutlery and glassware were pristine , the mirror on the wall had dirty fingerprints all over it and the clear glass vase on our table hadn’t seen a dishwasher or sink of warm soapy water for some time! Nevertheless we were there for the food, so onwards and upwards. Some cheese soufflé starters arrived they were lovely and creamy albeit a little cold. A duck starter was also served which was like a pate and very mediocre. My prawn and smoked salmon starter came and at £10.50 a portion I was expecting a bit more than a rogue lettuce leaf, some small prawns, a few tiny strips of smoked salmon and a watery sauce. There was also the tiniest bit of dried sliced baguette on the side. Onto the mains, my daughters chicken burger was fine but the three roast beef dinners that arrived were overdone, curled up and dry. The portions were not huge and the one or two roast potatoes that accompanied the beef were dry and chewy. What a disappointment! Extra gravy was duly brought to the table though and the staff were pleasant. Onto the desserts as we just weren’t satisfied with what we had so far and we’re really hoping that they would elevate the experience. They did ! But they weren’t outstanding. The sorbet was lovely and fruity. The chocolate bomb yummy, as were the Nutella donuts and the crumble. All in all, a pricey, unsatisfactory meal with pleasant staff in a dining room that was grubby and neglected in parts.

A generally disappointing meal. I appreciate it was Mother’s Day, so it might have been a slightly busier/ longer day than normal, but food and service were really poor. Meals were warm rather than hot, which was surprising given the meats were dry and tough like they’d been sat under heat lamps for ages. I’ve never had a sticky toffee pudding that I haven’t enjoyed before… I didn’t actually think it was possible! We usually go to the Meynell for birthdays, Mother’s / Father’s Day etc. as it’s usually pretty good, but I can’t see us going back anytime soon. We’d have been better off at a cheap chain pub. It’s definitely gone downhill.

Have just had an extremely poor experience here on Mother’s Day. Booked to both celebrate Mother’s Day (for 2 mums) and my brother’s birthday our table was booked for 12pm so would expect all food to be fresh and hot. Unfortunately, all of the food was cold on arrival to the table and the cuts of beef on the roast dinners were tough, small and overcooked. Certainly not as described on the menu and certainly not worth a fraction of the price they were charging. A roast at the Toby carvery would be significantly better. A burger off the children’s menu was cold, dry and overcooked. We left the almost full plates of inedible food to go home and cook our meal instead. We complained and were told we would not be charged for the food, despite this, the bill came and we were charged for the meal off the children’s menu initially (until we disputed this and it was taken off). Have frequented here numerous times since the reopening with varying experiences of food and service, this was on a different level; the quality of the food has significantly deteriorated. So disappointing as the venue is gorgeous and the potential enormous.

We live locally so when some friends, who were staying with us ,wanted to take us for a meal we chose the Meynell. I booked on line and requested the dining room but on arrival we were told we had to eat in the snug for staff reasons. My starter of soufflé was swimming in a liquid with no bread or roll and had to ask twice to get a slice of bread. The fish was well over cooked and hard. Finally when our friends presented a card to pay he was told in a loud voice that it had been declined, the reason! the waiter had tried to tap the card for a bill well over a hundred pounds! Not a good experience

Lively Thursday night, with a friendly atmosphere. Jack served us, and was attentive without being overpowering, as we celebrated our eldest daughter buying her first home. We had a 3 course meal and coffees, with everything being served on time and hot. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, created by being busy but also with some live music being enjoyed in the adjoining bar which in our opinion added to atmosphere and set this above being just a restaurant. This was out first visit and we will be back with friends as we like to sample different places. Particularly looking forward to having a drink outdoors ahead of eating when spring arrives.

Not what it used to be like. Seems to have gone downhill under the new owners. Food quality seems to have suffered. Sunday lunch was worse than a Toby Carvery. Bizarre thrash metal playing at one point in the restaurant at a volume that wasn’t really apt for the place. No wonder it was so quiet, we expected it to be busy and was surprised we could get in at lunchtime at short notice. Shame as it used to be our back up place to go but can honestly say we will be unlikely to return soon.

We went for dinner, there was no “fish of the day” available. We couldn’t get a crab linguine without white wine. No duo of duck, soup of the day was not great and minuscule. The filet steak was like stewing steak, overcooked and inedible (the chef agreed), served with wilted lettuce. Chicken burger was dry and chips overcooked. We did complain as we didn’t eat the steak or chicken burger, and they did take it off the bill to be fair. There was 8 of us, and the others ate their meals as they were starving. For the prices being charged, they need to up their game. Was embarrassing.

Shocking experience! Arrived for a Sunday lunch to a quiet pub great! However from stepping through the door that’s when it all went down hill. Staff were talking in a huddle behind the bar, once they have finished talking about the soup of the day and how there was only one special available they came over to assist. we where give a seat in the bar and told to take a seat someone would come over! We placed our order 2 roast beef dinners we asked for these to be medium rare with a side of cauliflower cheese, 5 minutes later our dinners arrived, Stone cold and meat over cooked and tough! Cauliflower cheese was unpalatable, no-one came over to ask if everything was ok equally no one was around to call over, we ate what we could and went to pay, they young guy did ask if everything was ok to which i said no! He apologised and handed me the card machine, I have emailed and send a FB messages which neither have been answered.

Not what we expected or how it used to be. Dressed up for a nice family night out, arrived early to have a drink in the bar. Couldn't get in the bar it was so rammed like a New Years eve. Pushed our way through to the restaurant where 20+ people were waiting to be seated. In fairness staff in restaurant were attentive and we were seated within 5 mins. Drink took 15 mins as bar was so busy. Food was served very quickly and the whole thing didn't feel very special at all. There was an event in the barn outside and boom boom of base and live music meant you struggled to hear yourself speak at times. The food was good 7 out of 10 the restaurant staff 10/10 the atmosphere and 2/10 and to be frank could not wait to get out. Drunks struggling through the restaurant pint in had to go to the toilet. Not a nice experience. If this is a regular Saturday night would never go back. It was once our go to place for a special night out.

This review is written with a very heavy heart… We visited the Meynell Ingram Arms for dinner on Saturday 29th August to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We had booked a table on the terrace for drinks followed by dinner in a dinning pod. The reservation...

Nice place we sat outside there was live music. However the food is really at very best average. Everything we had wasn’t quite good enough, the bread with the starters decidedly stale. Very disappointing.

For the prices that are charged it falls well below that standard,we had the roast beef dinners, the beef was nice but the knives wouldn’t cut through butter, the vegetables weren’t cooked enough and £3.50 for a bottle of water, well what can I say,it certainly needs some...

Bland food, very basic menu choices, service very good though. Seems to have gone down in standard of food since change of chain

We visited on a busy Saturday evening and service was top notch. Our drinks and food arrived promptly. We had a slow cooked lamb, sticky beef salad and chicken supreme, all recommended by our waitress. Very friendly staff, great selection of beers and wines.

The Meynell Ingram arms has been on the culinary seen in the area for many years and in various different guises. I think it must draw people from a large area as it is a surprisingly large venue. Don't be taken in by the cottagey...

Pitiful amount of food. One third of a chicken breast, a scattering of crushed potatoes and a garnish of green beans. My family were aghast at the scarcity of food. But! A great choice of beers.

I visited with my two friends for an evening meal in one of the garden huts. The huts were great, they are a lovely idea and they have a heater inside too for when it gets colder. The only shame was that the speaker and...

very good food and service, but sometimes when they change the menu the new menu is not for everyone so it pays to go to see what they have on the menu there is normally something you would like.

Stopped here for a light lunch …. Scampi, fries & peas - delicious. Will call in again one evening when there may be more atmosphere. They welcome dogs which is absolutely fine but they should stay on the floor not lie on a chair where I may wish to sit!!

Visited here after a while. I was shocked. The owner was a lady who I had paid for dog walking whilst lockdown was happening, even worse she had been claiming furlough and leaving her cafe closed and getting paid for dog walking. I don't think this is very ethical. Thankfully I wasn't reconised however service was slow and the menu full of very unhealthy things and the tables far too close together for COVID. Will not return.

Myself and my family were staying 5 miles away at hanbury barns for my nephews wedding. We needed somewhere for breakfast and the Hideaway fitted the bill. Nice food, efficient service. Thank you
