Hadn’t booked a table but they managed to fit us in. Parked on the road a bit further along from the pub as could t see if there was anywhere to park at the pub itself. A short walk and all on the flat. Free humous sample before the meal. I had the lamb shank and my husband had the brisket burger and both were delicious. Would highly recommend.

Recommended by a local resident during holiday to Marazion and the food was fantastic. Pork Belly fritters, Tempura Prawns, Hake main and Lamb Shank main with cheddar and garlic mash. Very high quality produce and cooking. Curry too on the menu looked great. Staff were very friendly. It was super busy on a Friday night, pre booked table, atmosphere really great. Not normal pub grub in anyway this is really special food in a relaxed environment. Understand the chefs and owners previously worked in some of the best restaurants in this part of Cornwall before taking over the Mexico Inn, it shows as their attention to the menu and food is excellent. Thanks for a great evening.

Came in just before our booking. We sat down, when we said we are ready to order both food and drink told the server needs to check if we can order food. Eventually ordered, two squash and lentil wellington roasts, 1 vegan, 1 as it comes. Vegan one comes without cheesy leeks and Yorkshire, but they didn’t put any extra veg on the plate had to ask the server for couple extra potatoes to comp the lack of Yorkshire and lack of leeks! The wellington itself was luke warm to borderline cold. For £17.95 the probably wouldn’t purchase this again. Had to double check where is our tea pot, as ordered when ordering food and it has never come. Was asked if we want to see the desert menu, no one came back to check if we do want to order. Waiting for drinks took a long time. The place wasn’t particularly busy, but the standard of table service was average. I’ve come here before over the last few years, but the standard has dropped..

Been meaning to visit for years and we were not disappointed. Had lunch on Friday. I say lunch but portion was very generous, so more dinner at lunch time! Went for Paneer veggie curry which came with flatbread, basmati rice, freshly made onion bargee and home made relish. Was absolutely delicious and full of great veg. They brought us a jug of water and glasses and a lovely small portion of hummus and bread sticks while our meal was cooking. Pub was quiet, but had a few locals in. Staff friendly and not overly intrusive. Everything really clean. Guest ales: Exmoor Brewery, Avocet. Great visit, will take friends and relatives next time.

Booked a table for my wife’s 40th birthday. Slightly disappointed that I had made a special request and it was ignored. The food was okay but overpriced for what it was. Chicken curry at £21 is a lot for the amount that came out especially considering there was hardly any chicken in it! We also asked for cucumber instead of carrot sticks for our daughter and were told they did not have cucumber but when the other meals arrived, cucumber was on the salad! Overall not a great experience and wouldn't recommend

Very warm and cozy design inside, good music and helpful service. Food is good, but I believe chef could pay bit more attention to details. Brisket burger and bread with salt butter were great. Fish and Chips ok, however fish lacked any spicing - very flat in taste. Brie bit greasy, pecans not roasted at all, beetroot as garnish fine, but would rather see cranberry sauce or jam. I can’t finish this review without mentioning home made Tartar sauce - this is absolutely amazing, spot on, legendary. Explosion of taste combined with other dishes brings them to another level. Definitely recommended, thank you Chef! Prices on accurate level, haven’t tried any drinks but they looked rather good.

After living in Penzance for many years we finally came to the Mexico Inn for one of their famous roasts - and it was fantastic! We had the vegetarian option and whilst the substitute meat is usually a little disappointing, the lentil Wellington was delicious! The spring greens were great and the red cabbage was probably the best we've ever had. It would have been 5 stars but the meal was really pricey, £60+ for 2 roasts, 2 drinks and 2 deserts is a bit steep for a Sunday afternoon out - especially as the portion size wasn't massive. Also the food was probably just about hot enough, I know people can be quite picky about this but some of the components were definitely just room temperature. A small point but there wasn't any toilet paper in the ladies I'm told - but I'm sure that happens during the day 😅. Anyway overall would definitely come back.

Visited for Sunday lunch 21/7, we’ve never been before but will definitely be back! The food was amazing; Roast beef was cooked to perfection with tasty veg and plenty of roast potatoes. All very fresh. My daughter had a kids fish and chips which was a very generous size, and again cooked perfectly; she really enjoyed it! Lovely pub with a great outside area, the staff were all very friendly and made it a really nice atmosphere. Would 100% recommend, we live in St Ives and will be heading back again to try the rest of the menu.

This is by far one of the best places I've stayed. We were a party of 6 people and all of us left very satisfied with the stay. The place looks nice, very comfortable and has all the things you will need for a long weekend. It's near the bus stop (1 min walk) which can take you to either St. Ives or main Penzance towards Land's End. There's a post office/small shop downstairs that you can visit to buy some stocks. The pub downstairs offers great food in case you need something to eat and is open until late. The beach is around 5 mins walk and if you really need to do some groceries, a superstore is available, maybe for a 10-minute walk. It offers a great view of St. Michael's mount, the sea and also if you're lucky the nice, dark and clear sky. My only gripe would've been the internet speed (but I guess that's the same all throughout the whole region)!I highly recommend this place for a medium-sized party, that's looking to chill and just relax, and just listen to the waves crashing. Thank you to the host, they were very easy to contact and responded to all our needs!

You would need transport to get to it if staying in Penzance proper. Very nice glass of wine ( but very pricey - but that seems to be a Cornish thing - everywhere we go the cost of wine in pubs or restaurants are extortionate compared to London) Friendly relaxed service! Other half ordered some tempura prawns and a cauliflower dish. The son had prawns and a pulled pork burger and I opted for three small plates, which was probably an over order but couldn't narrow it down! I ordered leek and blue cheese croquettes, falafel and a broccoli dish. All absolutely stunning. Service was very good, very friendly. Also the cocktail my partner had tasted really lovely. The food was good, the staff were nice, we were just situated in a walk through area which was freezing, and had everyone coming in & out from the back area to go to the toilet which was the other side of us, or food coming from the kitchen or piles or spuds & Yorkshire’s coasting past us in large catering aluminium tubs. Not really how I want to spend Sunday lunch. Had to eat with my coat & hat on it was so bad, I get it you want to max space, but that area is not suited for inside dining.

Recommended by friends, we met here for Sunday Roast and sat in the dining area which is a lovely room. Food was very good, and staff attentive (as you'd expect for these prices) However, our trip was ruined by a drunken brawl in the bar area, highly aggressive behaviour and language from a man and woman which staff seemingly didn't want to address, as this continued for some time. I won't be returning, and wouldn't recommend for families in particular, very unpleasant atmosphere.

Wow.. just wow.. the food was incredible.. the featherblade beef was just exquisite. Kudos to the chef and team in the kitchen. The beef strips in the Miso starter were perfection, beautifully crisp, and still so tender and juicy. It's just magnificent. I have only.one suggestion and it come purely down to preference on texture, crushed peanuts in the Miso would have been more satisfying from a texture point of view than whole peanuts, but there really is nothing to complain about. The ale burger, which I tried some of my partners, was just wonderful, I've never tasted a better burger. It was just pure joy to taste, well balanced with the other fillings and just marvellous. We had a fabulous evening taking part in the quiz and winning. The atmosphere was jovial and nostalgic of days passed when people used to commune in their local. Decor is simple and warming and homely, but honestly, this review is more about the food and my happy tummy dance. Just blooming wonderful, truly.

We were disappointed to say the least. Having had a great lunch at the Mexico Inn previously, we decided to book for their Sunday roast. The reviews looked good. Firstly, the presentation was off putting as the roast dinners were served on small chunky white plates like they used to use at school with the result being that everything was crowded on the plate and on top of each other. The roast potatoes tasted like they'd been micowaved to reheat them and the meat portions were very small. The yorkshire pudding was overdone, dry and tastless. The vegetables were passable, aside from the watery cheesy leeks. The wine was good. The waiting staff and the service were both very good but at nearly £20 a meal, we expected better quality and sadly won't be returning again.

Alex, Jenna, Liz and Ruby were all amazing front of house staff. I was really welcomed just as a drinker(mot eating), and will return. Great sense of humor all round.

Fantastic lobster pizza from the wood fired oven! Good selection of local ales. Staff are attentive and polite. Food at the Mex is consistently good using local suppliers.

Always busy because this wonderful place is consistently very good.....very good food, very good staff, and in this time of spiralling costs, very good value. Highly recommended. (Don't be put off as from the outside it looks like one to miss!!! - it's definitely not!)

After our regular Sunday Lunch pub stopped doing food, we searched for an alternate. So pleased we found the Mexico Inn, the food, staff, beer, and ambience are absolutely fantastic.

Read a travel book a while back, about a coastal walker pooing in for a hedgehog ice-cream, made from Cornish clotted cream and was advised to comeback in the morning for their sausages cooked in clotted cream. We tried the ice-cream recently and can't recommend them enough, now need to loose a other stone and possibly a heart bypass..but i will be back! Try to be clever ( out of hours /season or walk down hill) if using carpark, as gets expensive if just going for an ice-cream.

An excellent choice for our lunch with friends. Beautifully appointed and a lovely lounge area on arrival which is ideal for pre-lunch drinks and menu browsing. The menu was excellent and we were able to have some starters as mains and vice versa to accommodate our appetites. The food was fantastic and very good quality. One of our group commented that the mussels were possibly the best he had ever tasted. A good selection of beers, wines and spirits accompanied the menu perfectly and we had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch.
