The Merrymoor Inn Restaurant in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

We went for the Steak night , we were not disappointed!! One of the best meals we have ever had . Friendly staff .. all of them . Friendly atmosphere. We have also gone there for a crafty after walk drink when we go to Mawgan Porth to walk our dog .

Lovely welcome by staff upon arrival. We arrived 5.30 on Sunday without booking. It looked fairly quiet and then we realised it was fully booked. However staff kindly found us a table for two and much was needed till later on. Every table had a ‘reserved’ sign, and sure enough it was bustling by the time we left. The food was super. We ordered the Sunday roast which was a carvery. Living in Newquay we often forget what a great place this is but it’s well worth the 10 minute drive. Great service, lovely atmosphere, great food. We will be back!

What a great experience! I’m currently here with my partner (for the first time) who treated me to a birthday treat for two days. Upon arrival we have enjoyed great, personal customer service . We have chosen to stay at the Inn for drinks and dinner, during our stay and we have found everyone so polite and friendly, our amazing room is stunning and super comfortable. Well done to all that make this amazing place what it is. 👍 we will definitely be back.

This is one of our favourite places to visit when we are in Cornwall the staff are so welcoming, the food is wonderful and plentiful. We like the Merrymore Chicken and the Cream Tea Sundaie

Visited for breakfast before dog walk. It was busy but we got a table. The staff are so friendly & welcoming. The breakfast was tasty, plentiful. Nice to get a choice of eggs, we opted for scrambled. If I had to choose one negative - I just prefer the beans in a ramekin...the sausages were sat on top of the beans & just looked sloppy.

The Merrymoor Inn Mawgan Porth is in a great location overlooking the beach so the views are stunning . we visited on a few occasions this holiday and have had a variety of meals and all have been good. On our last visit I had the 3 fish salad which was excellent , plenty of fish ,a tasty salad and a perfect dressing . To follow I had the treacle pudding which was absolutely delicious . I don’t have puddings very often but made an exception for this ! It’s is essential to book during the peak season but staff are very helpful and will do their best to accommodate . Our family , children and now grandchildren have been visiting Mawgan Porth for many years and the quality of service at the Merrymoor Inn has always been consistent . The staff are , without fail , welcoming , friendly , efficient and obliging , providing excellent service all round .

Clean and comfy room, friendly and helpful staff and the dinner & breakfast were excellent. All in all a very pleasant experience, i would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Lovely pub with the most amazing views over the beach. Good pub grub. Great range of beers. Would certainly recommend and look forward to returning.

Fabulous last minute Friday night supper sitting watching the sunset….fabulous food as always and service is always served with a smile. Great value for money.

Just stopped for a coffee. Both latte and americano were good. Had to wait some considerable time as of course very busy in this tourist area.

I feel very indifferent about this place, I can’t really grumble or sing its praises! On first impressions, clean and comfortable with a lovely outdoor seating area, fantastic views of the beach . Friendly staff! The menu wasn’t very inspiring, I opted for a chicken and bacon club sandwich, it was basically a whole meal bap toasted , containing salad leaves dry chicken , nice bacon and mayo ! Served with nachos and a small salad garnish. It really wasn’t my idea of a club sandwich. My husband had the fish finger sandwich, also in a dry whole meal bab served with salad and small portion of chips , he sad it was quite tasty! A very overpriced lunch, small portions in a nice place !

Food was ok, nice fish and chips. Booking essential as gets very busy. Very close to the beach with a handy car park. Bar staff not very friendly though, which is a shame.

Our go to place when down here on holiday for an evening meal overlooking the bay as the sun goes down. As normal the food, service was excellent and enjoyed by all. There is a good choice of traditional English pub food and local ale’s/ciders to chose from, so something for everyone’s taste.

We had previously booked a table which what great as they were very busy. As we were dining on a Sunday it was the typical Sunday lunch carvery menu. We were asked if we wanted the standard or large menu, we chose the large option. This meant we were served a portion of each of the 3 meats on offer, Turkey, Beef and Pork, the we got to choose our accompaniment vegetables. What a HUGE plate of food, totally delicious, but very filling, so much so that we couldn’t manager a dessert. Really excellent value for money with friendly service. Will definitely be back.

The Merrymore Inn is fantastic. Great range of drinks wonderful food menu and the view sat outside is far better than the WebCam that my wife continuously watches. Bar staff are brilliant, always working hard and deliver great service with a smile l. waiting staff are all attentive and always go the extra yard, everybody here is kind, friendly and polite. They have a great selection of drinks, beers, ciders and spirits. If you get the chance to get a table make sure you book. Get the muscles and chips. Yum every plate is big and hearty, fish and chips swamp the plate, the desserts are great and if you have room for a glass of red wine and cheese, you must go for it. I truly wish this pub was at the end of our road. I would be in there every day. thank you to everybody at the Merrymoor and we will soon be back.

The Merrymore is really excellent for Sumday Roasts and evening dinner cannot be faulted. Super friendly staff. Highly recommended

We visited last summer and it was busy so we sat on the bench on the steps. We could see the food coming out and it looked great. We don’t live very far and said we’d come back in the quieter months to eat. We came the week after Easter and it was lovely and quiet on the beach and around the area. We came in to eat and was welcomed straight away, we had a table by the window and there were plenty of people in so lots of conversation but not over busy. All the staff we met and who made a fuss of the dog too were lovely, nothing too much trouble. I had fish and chips and hubby had the fish gratin. Both were excellent but he did say he’s not had a dish before with so much chunky fish in it, they are generous with the portions. Was going to have a dessert but couldn’t manage it. Restaurant was warm, cosy and very clean, a great place to come for lunch.

Beautiful pub/restaurant with beautiful views over the sea and beach. Lovely quick service and delicious food. Drinks was nice and staff was so friendly.

Met some friends and enjoyed good drinks , good service and good food on the Saturday night. Went back on Sunday , sat in the sun on the terrace and had an amazing Sunday dinner. Always a friendly atmosphere, so went in again later in the week. Dog friendly and Dog understanding too. Thanks for the great visits.

Nice surprise. popped in on transit to another location and found Very friendly staff. Tasty food. Excellent views ( from a table within the bar area) Very clean toilet facilities. Parking for disabled directly outside the front entrance. Additional parking as well close by. ALL Very good in my book, BIG TICK IN THE BOX.

We took the Atlantic coaster bus to Mawgan Porth where we had a table booked for lunch. Very attentive staff and excellent food. We had the Power Food Salad bowl, Scampi and Burgers.

This pub/restaurant is so welcoming and the food is great. The staff are abslutely brilliant. I had a bit of a health issue during the lunch and they were really wonderful to me. Sarah, the manager was especiually kind and thoughtful.

Good sized, bar / restaurant overlooking beach with parking both free and paid for nearby. Staff were friendly and welcoming and atmosphere relaxed. We only had drinks but food being served to other customers looked very good. Dog friendly too

We had a reservation with a table number. As we walked to our table, we noticed all eyes on us. I think it was because nearly everyone else was local. Food took ages to arrive and had to chase up. My poor 9 old niece was getting really upset. I asked if her food could be prioritised. I was told they were very busy but with no apology. I had a carvery. Food was average and lukewarm despite waiting ages for it. The roast potatoes were burnt and got some slightly less burnt ones when I complained about them. Anyway, this was off-season and would have expected better service.

Staff were friendly, efficient and welcoming. The room / bathroom was a reasonable size, clean and comfortable. The menu offered choices that were a bit different from the usual fare and the food was well cooked and presented. A variety of options for breakfast - again nicely done. Easy parking. Great location and access to beach.

Not our first time at The Merrymoor and it won't be the last. We were 11, family and friends plus 2 dogs for Saturday lunch and as usual really enjoyed the food and service. We were staying in Mawgan Porth for a week and later visited for morning coffee and again were welcomed. Would recommend this inn to anyone.

We have been here so many times over the past 6 years because it is exceptional. The ambience, friendliness, quality of food, value for money, service, everything is perfectly done. Its a wondeful gem.

We have visited the Merrymoor for both lunch and dinner this week, and really enjoyed the whole experience both times. The staff are really friendly, the menu is varied, the food is excellent, and the wine list is much improved since last time we visited. The view from the bar is stunning. Looking forward to returning next year!

This is a bit of a weird place. Expensive drinks and a basic pub menu - there is a strange thing with not very friendly locals surrounding the bar which is rather off putting. 3 blobs is not terrible but I’d advise elsewhere locally if you have choice.

What a beautiful place. We sat inside and had dinner which was amazing everyone in my family enjoyed the food which is rare and the view is outstanding. My little ones loved the play area. The lovely lady who served us was great.

Having visited the merrymoor inn many times but mainly during busy periods & found each time the bar staff to be obnoxious & very very rude ! I put it down to stress of service & tourists. Stopped here for lunch whilst on a long south coast walk from Porth to Meagan Porth Menu had loads of choice and the bar has a great selection of local beers, ciders and wine of course soft drinks & coffee too We sat outside on the terrace with our dog , beautiful views of the sea and the bay The menu had loads of choice, I would recommend the fish fingers sandwich it was incredible! We stopped here for lunch and really enjoyed it. Plenty of parking. We sat outside to enjoy the beach views and were entertained by a pair of crows hoping for some tasty titbits - we didn’t feed them. We had the Merrymoor chicken, scampi and chips and the quiche of the day with salads. All our meals were delicious and served very quickly. All staff friendly and helpful. We look forward to returning.

Great place for a drink, we didn't eat there though, nice seating outside overlooking the bay, just one niggle, you've got ignorant locals sitting up at the bar and they will not move! Because of this you get a bunched up queue, no one knows who's next, maybe move the TV into the back, you need all the bar space for the patrons.

First time we've stayed at The Merrymoor Pub. Fantastic location, but made all the better by very clean, well maintained, rooms. Breakfast, plus evening meals excellent! All staff were helpful and polite considering how busy they were. We will return and highly recommend.

The Merrymore has a fantastic location, we have had 3 meals in the last week and all have been excellent the carvery was excellent only got a small but was more than enough was even told to put veg on before I put my Yorkshire pudding on so we could get more all in all every member of staff works hard and was helpful but the hardest working is the landlord he multitasks and is always on hand thank you Merrymore we will be back.

We tried to stop here for breakfast but they wanted £5 to park, no flexibility to just park for an hour. That is too much when you just want breakfast, so they have lost all of our business.

Despite its excellent location, it is right on the beach, and the friendly staff the menu was really disappointing. Very limited choices for vegetarians and vegans, and the gluten free menu offered neither of these choices. What a shame.
