They had a Gluten free menu, however it was very limited and was all main courses, no sandwiches or lunchtime treats. Bit disappointed.

Didn't stay so no comment re accommodation. Had a Sunday carvery. Lovely atmosphere. Thought the hospitality was exceptional, from walking through the door, to being shown our table onwards. Liked the touch of water being already provided on the tables. The food was nice and more than plentiful with the gravy stuffing, in my experience, unique. Would definitely be going again.

Can't say that we were over impressed. Nice enough place, but let down with the quality of the carvery. I'm left waiting at the carvery without so much as an apology for our wait. Veg wasn't very inviting carrots cabbage mash. Had to wait for cauliflower cheese. Nice enough place. Grill prices look OK, and we have said we would go back to try.

Called in today, won’t be going back based on our experience, counted 8/10 people, many empty tables but couldn’t accommodate two of us at 3pm, we hadn’t booked and they were very busy, weird and protencious Clearly an issue with kitchen capacity, rather than footfall, this is a pub that does food, I mean you shouldn’t have to book at lunch for gods sake surely, evening fair enough, but lunch time ? Remember no more than ten people in over I think three tables the rest of the tables empty, no reservations and guess what an hours delay on food! Capacity in the kitchen not footfall ! Guess what on a Sunday you do t have to book …… just walk in no booking required……… so on a Sunday it appears footfall isn’t a problem …… the secret of course is it’s carvery only !!!!!!!! So evidence enough that I’m right the issue is kitchen capacity AND a far to big menu offering it’s not needed simply a establishment that doesn’t know what it is, I’d rather have a full pub eating fish chips peas and other delights and having my place busy and making additional on the bar! Than having an empty pub with a far to big menu, with clearly a capacity issue in the kitchen and a very poor occupancy of bums on seats ………. Even some of the food needs pre order pies! Yes it’s true either have them available or take them off menu !! Not a well run business unfortunately a pretty nice place with nice food I’m sure but the asset is not being sweated, bar staff and waiting staff must be bored or laughing for they are doing not a lot frankly… barman god he’s polishing glasses all day well most of it, such a shame, this is a full time problem by the way like this everyday same issue nothing changes except of course on a Sunday when carvery on …….. couple slices meat cut by the cook and then pile it high with pre cooked sitting in the oven veg !!! Won’t be going back poor service and terrible business acumen

My partner and I called here for a meal while staying overnight on the farm situated next door and i can not recommend it enough! Been a self confessed pain in the bum when it comes to food I opted for a starter of Asian belly pork and a side of Chips instead of a main meal. Best decision I have ever made, this was 2 weeks ago and I'm still raving about it! My partner tried the Pilgrim pie and he too was more than happy with it. A confusing dining experience. I think with food you have two question, did you enjoy it and would you go again. The food was OK, we wouldn't go again or recommend. The staff were fantastic but the dining experience is weird. I don't know what type of food you would say the mayflower serves, on one hand you've a tyson burger and on the other you've japenese food and to top it off my wife had mussels covered in grated cheese. Not seeing the menu before, several items you had to pre order, including the platters. I'd never go to a restaurant I've never visited and expect to order crab two days in advance. My personal opinion, the menu is too big and too varied. If you want to be a fish restaurant, provide the best fish in the area, if you want to be a steak restaurant you'll need to compete with Miller and carter, if you want to be a japenese restaurant go for it. I don't think you can be all three, be consistant and provide great food. My wife ordered calamari that came with 5 calamari and a bed of salad, it could have been a main course. I paid £5 for some warm pork scratchings. Having a choice is great, you seem to be making it tricky for yourself by trying to suite everyone. Above is personal opinion, seems like so much potential for a fairly new business. Good luck

We go to the Mayflower regularly for lunch on a Saturday. The Senior Moments menu is good value and plenty for us. The regular menu is extensive but prices are quite high for a village eatery. The staff are great, attentive but not overly so. Soft drinks are a bit on the expensive side.Food is great quality, freshly prepared and very well presented. At busy times there can be a delay in service. If you have a large party it is advisable to book.

Firstly let me just say how well trained the staff are. From start to finish, all the staff were “on the ball” and so observant. Now onto the fayre. We went twice in December, Christmas Sunday and Boxing Day. On both occasions thefood came out well presented and piping hot.The value for money was “ top drawer”, with all aspects of the meal faultless.I feel this place is well under the radar and definitely worth a punt.

We have visited the mayflower a handful of times over the last 5 years. It used to be amazing. But slowly over time it seems to be getting poorer quality. after today’s visit I have come to the conclusion, they have managed to suck every bit of flavour and texture out of the food. Which is a talent in itself. We visited today to try it again for a Sunday lunch, as we were passing, hoping it had improved and gone back to its former glory. But sadly this was not the case, the plated roast was worse than a poorchain Sunday carvery. For £13.50 a head it simply is not worth it.

My wife and I ate here earlier in the week to celebrate my birthday. We have dined here before and usually find it very good. Unfortunately, this time it was a story of two extremes. On the one hand my fillet steak was one of the best I have had in many years and cooked to medium rare perfection. On the other hand the steak and stilton pie was very disappointing, four pieces of beef, a load of mushrooms and not a bit of stilton to be tasted or seen. We did mention it to the staff but got no real response, just a blank look. My wife very much enjoyed the sweet and I requested a blue cheeseboard and a port. Cheese was fine but the port was served in a whisky tumbler and was 25ml not 50ml, which is the correct measure. Again this was mentioned at the time but no action taken. All in all a real shame. Having been in the business all my working life , I realise that consistency is difficult to achieve in this type of catering but it is so very, very important. All I can say is ‘could do better’.

Well I dont know what to say really......Ive been here numerous times to the grill night with my friend and never had a bad meal, however, last night was a different matter. There was 8 of us fo my dads 73rd birthday. We all ordered off the grill menu. The 2 kids had chips with theirs but all the rest ordered new potatoes, which theyve swapped before. When the meals came out, the young waitress apologised and said "i'm sorry but hes done chips for everyone". I was furious. How can they not come and inform us of this prior to bringing the meals out. My steak should have been medium, but was well done. My mums was rare and should have been medium/rare and the 2 gammons which were supposed to be 12oz were smaller than the 8oz steaks. Only 6 of the 8 sauces came out too. I was really disappointed as it was my idea to go there as Ive never had a bad meal. Please visit and make your own conclusions as maybe the chef was having a bad day!

We chose the two course Sunday lunch menu. Not sure if you can only have the main course. Started with prawn salad, which was as expected. My husband then had turkey roast lunch (plenty of turkey) and I had nut roast lunch. Mine was very tasty with its own separate gravy which was probably red currant jelly. Well cooked and quite big portions, costing £13 each. The drinks were a tad expensive though, we had the same drinks in another pub on the way home for 90p less.

I have now stayed at the Mayflower twice and the rooms have been very comfortable - the en-suite bathrooms as well are well equipped and very roomy. Twice I have eaten in the bar / restaurant and found the food to be of good quality and well presented with a nice variety. The most memorable however and always the bit I tend to look forward to most with a hotel visit is breakfast and the breakfast takes some beating - fantastic choice and lots to help yourself to as starters etc. The staff are very friendly and will try hard to look after you - makes a refreshing change

We came here for a family birthday and all thoroughly enjoyed our visit. It was an early evening visit and we had booked a table to be sure. Easy to spot the restaurant as it is a beautiful deep blue building and has a good sized car park at the rear. Greeted warmly and shown to our table. We'd soon had our order taken and it wasn't long before we had all got our meals in front of us. All beautifully served, hot and tasty, meat dishes cooked to our individual taste.Delicious. Also enjoyed desserts, a good range to choose from, clean plates all round, again ! As it was during the very hot weather we were delighted to find that the restaurant had air-conditioning. So our visit was very comfortable, not too cool, just right. Staff were lovely and attentive too without being intrusive. Certainly worth more visits from us.

We were staying next door and was recommended to eat hear. But my wife needs to be Gluten Free, Alcohol Free and Fat Free, so all she could eat was oven cooked Bream and it came on a bed of lettuce etc. What! So surprised we should have said where are the vegetables etc but didnt☹️ I had the Pie, but the beans and the cabbage was raw, hard, not good so I left them. No one came to ask if everything was alright. It took over and hour from ordering to come. Then for the pudding. They could not cater for my wife. So she asked could they do fruit and custard, the waitress came back with “sorry, no fruit” how about a banana, still no. I had a pudding on my own it was my birthday so I really wanted one but ate on my own! People were staying there so what would they be having for breakfast? Booked to stay for one night for business, we arrived and at check in, which is in the main bar, we were told the wifi was down so they had no record of our booking, not a problem in itself and one that could not be helped. At check in we offered to pay for the accommodation but we were told we could pay later. The room was nicely decorated but not quite the luxury suite as described, the mattress on the bed was actually 2 that seemed to be zipped together in some way so not the best. We decided to go for a drink at the bar, we ordered our drinks and were asked if we would want to eat, we were undecided and as I was about to take a seat at a table I was told that if we were only having a drink we could only sit at the 'tall tables by the door' not quite what i expected as a paying guest. We went back to the room and there was quite a lot of noise coming from the bar below but as it had been a long journey and we had an early start we decided to go to bed and then realised that the zipped together mattresses didn't actually fit the bed?? Not the best nights sleep at all.. Then at 9pm there was a knock at the door followed by somebody trying the door handle to get in the room, it turns out it was a staff member who was asking for us to pay the bill??? We had to get up, get dressed and walk outside, into the bar and pay for the room. We have both stayed in lots of hotels for work but neither of us have ever experienced anything like this before, really poor service and I am just glad that I was not on my own. We didn't stay for breakfast so cannot comment on the food, to be honest the poor customer service left a bad taste. Would definitely not be returning,

Was a bit hit and miss, one of the mains ( Yorkshire grazing board) was missing 3 elements, which was rectified once pointed out, but was a bit farcical as we had to study the menu again to clarify what we actually should have had. However once complete it was an impressive choice for the price. The captains table was on the whole tasteless and difficult to distinguish between all the deep fried selection.. The lamb was very very good, as was the pie. Deserts were all ok except the hot cross bun bread and butter pudding was awful, very dense and rubbery. We maybe should have mentioned that, but after all the fuss getting the main right we did not like to keep complaining to the waitress. She did a great job despite the initial mistakes. As the menu is so interesting and the prices reasonable we will probably give it another go, and hope we just went on an off day.

Bebidas demasiado caro.

My partner and i stayed for 1 night in room 1. The room was a bit small but adequate and was clean and had all the usual amenities, shampoo and tea etc. and not the cheap stuff either. There was a good selection for breakfast, which was cooked to order and was nice and a lot better than a standard cooked buffet breakfast.I thought our evening meal was lovely, we had fish and chips and prawn linguine. Im fussy and had a garlic sauce instead of the chilli sauce that it was supposed to be served with. Both meals were soo tasty and they were a bit more expensive than what we would normally pay but was well worth it. Even the bread basket was nice.Service was excellent during check in and during our meal. The only very small thing that i would change is to make sure the laundry is out of the entrance hall before check in. Not only does it not look nice but it was also a trip hazard.I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay and eat, although i would book a bigger room next time.

Went for Sunday dinner as part of a large group of friends and found the whole experience a little odd.Food was ok but not brilliant value, kids meals are quite small and service was extremely patchy - from a waitress shouting across the table when taking orders instead of walking around to a Latte being brought to the table when a lager was ordered. Although we were a large group and I appreciate this must be more difficult everyone's orders got jumbled. It got to the stage where we could only laugh! In summary food ok but slightly overpriced - service entertaining to say the least

First visit on Friday night. Very disappointing experience. The young waitress was untrained and unhelpful throughout the evening. The manager gent looked on but didn't make an effort to be friendly or helpful. Asked what gins they stocked, delighted to hear they had a number of premium and local gins but whilst they charged premium prices for them they were poorly served with one lump of ice floating. I asked for lime but the waitress couldn't be bothered, my husband asked for a bit of lemon in his coke 3 times but again, she would rather stand at the bar talking and didn't bother bringing it.The seafood platter was very nicely served, hot and tasty but not enough for 3 and expensive. Everything on the menu is overpriced. The Penang curry was dull and the balance of flavours lacking. Far too many onions. The duck was not tender. The chicken and goats cheese pie whilst tasty had very little chicken in it and the lumpy mash had been sat around and then reheated so long it had a crust on it. We just expected more for our money and at city restaurant prices it needs to be so much better than the mediocre pub grub and poor service we experienced.

Stopped on way to airport. Arrived ten to five on a very hot day but closed till five. Sat in garden outside. We ordered a sharing platter meze and actually grumbled a bit about how long it took to come but it was worth waiting for! Very nice, good quality food. Husband said the drinks were a bit expensive but was all good quality, friendly staff and nice village setting.

A pleasant enough pub & staff helpful. Not a huge varied choice on menu, especially for vegetarians or a coeliac. ( one of ea in our party) Food very 'artisan' came on heavy wooden platter. Beautifully cooked. Two of us had mixed sea food platter & batter was exquisiteHowever I can't justify paying £17 for a shared starter for two. You can imagine cost of mains!

The food was excellent, the menu range was also very impressive. Not a place to go for a cheap meal, but worth the price for the quality of the meat. My only slight negative comment is that I have had nicer chunky chips, but the chips were still nice. The staff were friendly and the bar itself very nice, modern and clean.Highly recommend it for a nice meal or a quiet drink.

My overall opinion of this pub hasn't changed between visits - it is a lovely pub, geared up for food, not drinking (from my mid week experiences) with delicious food, slightly overpriced.I noticed on our last visit that they do do offers - steak night on a Monday and 2 meals for £16 (think this was lunch times and 5 until 6.30). The pub was quite busy when we arrived for our 7.30 table but was really quiet a couple of hours later.I chose the ribs on this visit. Served with salad, chips and sour cream. It was a full rack and they were huge! The meat was falling of the bone and was divine. Quite possibly the best ribs I've had - melt in the mouth meat in a delicious BBQ sauce. Despite being "full" there was room for dessert - sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. Absolutely gorgeous. Service was friendly and efficient. Might be tempted to steak night next!!!

Myself, husband and 3 young children called in here for tea on the way home from a day out. The staff were friendly and the food was great. The children's menu although wasn't vast was of good quality and big portions. My youngest had the fish which was delicious. The prices were reasonable and would definitely recommend a visit.

A colleague recommended this pub which looks attractive with fairy lights from the outside and ample parking. We pre booked and were shown straight to table where the waitress took our drinks order and came back after 15 minutes for our food order We had to ask after 40 minutes how long our food would take it then appeared within a few minutes, the food was overpriced and disappointing. We won't be making a second visit

Foods OK. But please learn your staff how to pour a pint of guiness . At over £5 for a pint. Dearest in thorne. Should be poured correctly

Stunning location which if plans approved will become even better. Amazing rooms for meeting and networking. Tucked away nicely so it’s genuine peace and quiet.
