Very lively pub on a Saturday with great music, but the service was great despite the crowds.

Went in for a drink nice friendly service nice pint will be back again

No where near enough bar staff on a match day.

Probably up there with one of the best sunday dinners I've had. A good portion size and the roast potato's are cooked to perfection. Delicious

Really nice pub, we only had drinks so I can’t comment on the food. It’s got a brilliant atmosphere and the music was good. The retro game and pinball machines are a nice touch. Price wise, it’s about the same as anywhere in Newcastle. Definitely worth a visit.

Got 2 coors and tasted dreadful, either don’t take care of lines or beer out of date. Staff recognised it tasted terrible after trying it and then asked if I wanted something else (got 2 madri) and was told I had to pay the difference of £2.40?!? Must care more about a quick bit of money than returning customers. Edit: Went back a month or so later and had much nicer pints and the atmosphere was good (food sound nice but not tried it). However, it was bank holiday Sunday and NUFC were on TV. Town packed but only 3 staff serving and loads of customers at the bar, took over 25 minutes to get served.

Great music, excellent atmosphere, good selection of drinks

Was served a pint that tasted extremely bitter, clearly an issue with line cleaning as the pint was horrible and a member of staff agreed as soon as it was taken back and offered to replace it, however an extremely rude supervisor (Spanish looking lad with a mullet) point blank refused to help in any way and insisted the drink was fine despite other members of staff admitting it was clearly not right. The supervisor continued to patronise me asking if I had drank that beer before and that’s how it’s supposed to taste etc, I’ve worked in bars myself for many years and was extremely disappointed. Clearly the price of one pint is worth more than the repeated business of a customer as I won’t be back. Other staff were lovely and very helpful but that supervisor has a long way to go.

Always a nice place for a drink, clean toilets and an enjoyable experience. I only have one question, why is it with the Guinness some people get the pictures on them and some don't?

Been here few times on toon games days a must to get the atmosphere

Came about a year ago and had an amazing Yorkshire pudding wrap. This time just drinks but the staff are great and it's a great place to chill with outdoor seating and good music.

I've been in the Mayfair loads of times, especially on match days. On a recent trip, we were in the Mayfair before the game, then decided to go after the game as it normally has other games show8ng and a great atmosphere. However, upon trying to enter after the game which was an early kick off we were refused as I had my 16 year old daughter with me who is with me on most match days and has been in before and after games previously. The bouncer asked her for id, which she didn't have, stating because it was busy that it was over 18s only. Load of rubbish. Let down. Staff before the game were great however dorman excluded.

I loved the atmosphere. It's definitely not a place to enjoy the dinner quietly 😄 as you better dance and have fun. The staff is always helpful, they always clean the table or the mess people are making 🙄 quick serving even if it is a crowded place . LOVED THE MUSIC SECTION 🎶

Just had a meal off my kids for mothers day had roast beef dinner huge portion lovely meat and veg. The young woman who brought our meals out was lovely very friendly. Lost a star for our dessert very disappointed ordered strawberry pavlova. It was a piece of meringue with very little strawberry sauce and couple pieces of strawberrys on in a small glass for £5. Can't fault the main food as we come in every week after work but sorry desserts need a little tweek and the manager we spoke to I don't think she was very happy that we weren't happy but I think after spending £70 I should be able to question the food. This won't stop us coming in for food and do recommend it to everyone just won't have a dessert.

We went in on the day of the Newcastle v AC Milan match at xmas. All the from Northern Ireland we had a perfect day and match night there. The food was ace and the drink went down well, as we drowned our sorrows. Perfect time and wel definitely be back. My husband was a bit of a celebrity with selfies being requested in his top.. Terrible experience. Ordered food which came with drinks. Tried to charge £2 more than order. Received drinks, over half an hour later no food had arrived. Enquired as to when it will served to then be told that the person who took my order had not informed the kitchen. Asked and received full refund.

Love coming here for lunch, the food is lovely and the staff are brilliant, can't do enough for you. Great value for money and tastes amazing. 👌

Terrible. If I could give it less than 1 I would. Staff totally disinterested. Sister in law had a burger which came with plastic still attached to the cheese slice. Person serving had absolutely no idea that this wasn't acceptable. Would not recommend this place.

What a cannie little popular place to visit whilst in Newcastle. Great place to watch newcastle United match or any other sport. They have a few TV screen around the place. Quite few people in and I know on match days it gets packed. Nice deco and it was kept nice and clean. Staff were smiley and polite. They have clean and tidy toilets here and although they have accessible entrance never noticed accessible toilet. I had tandoori chicken with salad and a bit over cooked flatbread. Ate everything but flatbread. They also do nice Mayfair cheese burger with side fries. Washed this down with a pint of anarchy and diet Pepsi for me. Not bad price for food. They are in middle of menu change so the meal I actually wanted was on the menu but they were more than happy to accommodate me and gave me what I asked for which I was grateful for. Mayfair is not far from, monument, st James and central metro station. A good reliable bus service runs close by or you can drive into town and park up in a(paid) car park. Plenty of pubs and restaurants are also close by as are shops and of course Eldon square. Would i return, yes I would and would also love to catch the atmosphere on match day. I have recommended to family and friends🙂x

Pina colanda is off. Micheals attitude is awful. Plz be careful what you order. Need to go on a customer service training not even to offer another drink is a disgrace.

Had afternoon tea with 3 others. Absolutely wonderful. Lots of variety, food excellent and service second to none. Holly inparticular was superb. Cocktails lovely as was mulled wine. Very impressed. Will be going again.

I choose this location for my baby shower on the 18th November, I spoke to many locations in the city centre, but there was just something about the Mayfair that made me choose this venue. I dealt with Joe and they went above and beyond to make sure my day was as perfect as I wanted it to be. They catered amazingly for my 30 guests and the food was delicious and plentiful as I was promised. All of my guests commented on the food and selection available. It catered for everyone ranging from 11 to 86 years old. But in particular - I must mention the staff (I’m sorry but the pregnancy brain has made me forget their names so please forgive me) but the staff looking after us on Sat 18th Nov were second to none! They all were funny, happy to help and just made me feel at ease about everything! They couldn’t do more to help us! I’ll definitely be back, but defiantly for cocktails this time when the baby makes their appearance. So thank you so much to Joe and his team! ❤️

Had a meal out with friends every thing was fine staff very helpful and friendly.

Came here and ordered some food which took an hour (not a vibe), then the two veggie bhaji burgers came out with LAMB in them (also NOT a vibe). BUT the manager was sound, sorted us out with a round of drinks, a refund, and replacement burgers. Happy days. Or was it? Final twist in the tale: one of the replacement burgers was a BACON CHEESEBURGER, which is still NOT vegetarian. Honestly though we appreciated the gesture and had a laugh about it. If you're coming for beers, football, and atmosphere its mint, but if you want a veggie burger id recommend burger king over the road

1st hand complaint isnt about food .. food is lovely .. complaint is regarding treatment of the staff .. your management are disgusting many times weve been here and caught the way the management speak to glass collectors and bar staff like there peices of rubbish .. seeing the staff crying and upset then go back in and get on with there jobs .. The staff are rammed every weekend there always happy .. the glass collectors are squashing themselves between the public and dont say a word .. ur management dirty looks and disgusting attitude .. for over 30 years ive worked with customers and have never been so disgusted in the way this company is . Some staff are young if there behind on a job ask politley coach them most of the staff this is probably there 1st job dnt treat them like its something uve walked in .. 1 manager supervisor or whoever she thinks she is gods gift and rules the pub but stays standing flirting with young lads .. We wont be returning and I hope if the staff are reading this go look for a better job where at least u will be treated with respect and dignity

Been for Sunday dinner here a few times as part of the 2 for £22 offer and have to say this time was the nicest dinner we’ve had as has been overloaded in pepper in the past. Was good size portions and plenty meat, also our server Katie was so nice as well and definitely contributed to the experience

Came for Sunday dinner with my wife and would highly recommend the food was bang on and the lady who served our food is a true asset to the Mayfair I believe her name was Katie, keep up the good work Katie I’m sure you’ll go places as you were so kind and polite and we’ll soon be back for more

Great pub, brilliant atmosphere, beautiful pub.

Wow, it just keeps getting better every time we visit! As we walked in to get a table we were greeted by a lovely woman who couldn’t have been anymore friendlier. We visited for the half price food on a Wednesday as we have for the last few weeks and honestly we wouldn’t go anywhere else now! Huge, hot portions, credit to your wonderful staff.

First time I've frequented the Mayfair pub ( I only visited to see what / how the karaoke would be like) however really enjoyed the experience because of the cracking atmosphere & the friendly service plus a good pint helped 😉 I found the door staff friendly & approachable not an experience I've encountered often in a busy city center bar a BIG weldone to EVERYONE concerned ✅👌

omg this place is awesome, i love the new the new & updated menu, the yorkshire pudding wraps are amazing with the chunky chips on a treat day :-) i even ordered for pick up last week as i was busy at work, staff great, food amazing, keep up the great work guys, ill be back for friday treat this week thank you :-)

Lee the DJ, such a nice bloke, didn’t have a particular song that the wife requested but took the time to come down to apologise, didn’t need to, didn’t have to, but the fact he did suggests this establishment employs the good people. Howay to the full management and it’s staff this establishment. A+++ told you I’d write a review, he didn’t think i would. 🍺

Popped in for food and ordered a couple of wraps from the lunch time special. These were lovely for the price. I wasn't impressed by one of the workers, a girl with black and white hair, walking about vaping! There were young children in at the time. Do the workers not have rules to adhere to!

Called in today looking for Sunday lunch .never been here before ,and I must say it's a stunning place huge inside .a lovely lad served me at the bar .I ordered beef Sunday lunch .and half larger .the place is not that busy .sat at booth ,waited a little while and I was nt disappointed.The plate was a good size .mash pots not a lump at all turnip,red cabbage, cauliflower cheese,roast spuds,huge Yorkshire pudding.Carrots and a good portion of roast beef just fell to bits .finished with gravy .it's was gorgeous I will definitely be back . Sunday lunch is £13 or for 2 £22

Nice pub with DJ set and good vibes

Went on a weekday for drinks and to play pool it wasn't very busy but still a great atmosphere music playing and friendly staff.

Got in with the two bottles for £5 offer, didn't take long to be served however unfortunately we were provided with 2 room temperature beers... I know this isn't a big thing but I at least expected they would have been chilled or cool. The atmosphere was okay, there was a particularly cool older bloke dancing his heart out which was great and definitely helped the atmosphere. I would consider revisiting if I was guaranteed to served with a chilled drink next time 👍🏻

The girl taking orders was fantastic..so helpful. Radioed the kitchen for children's beans and chips. The roast beef Yorkshire pudding wrap was so tender and the sweet potato curry came with naan and poppadom. Served in boxes so we could take the extra home. Will definitely visit again

Nice place, I didn't order food so can't comment on that although the drinks were nice my biggest issue was the dj, they played absolutely horrendous music, the music was played to the tune of a different song eg dancing queen to some random rap beat, the dj kept interrupting to say absolutely nothing we wanted to hear, every few minutes so even if I was enjoying the music they would have ruined it, it's like someone interrupting you while you have headphones on, the best song of the night was the fresh prince of bel air which says a lot I think, even during this song the dj talked, won't be going back

Went for Sunday lunch ordered a beef dinner, it arrived within 5 minutes was lukewarm obviously just been stuck in microwave, at a cost of £13 not impressed and never go back again.

Easy place to sit, drink and chat. Spent a few hours here. Didn't eat but food looked nice. Drink was great and good prices.

Bad customer service not happy at all with how staff treated us and the manager was rude. Would not come back here.

Amazing staff and a massive improvement from what it was. Atmosphere is always friendly and the place is always clean.. Special shout outs to Holly and Amon. Every time I have been in they have been fantastic.

This, for me, is the best bar in Newcastle. It has a great atmosphere and great food, The staff are so helpful. Anyone coming to Newcastle, look this up will return.

Great place for a social bite of food and drink.

Came here as fancied full English breakfast and reviews were good but thought it was really mediocre and expensive for portion. £10 and literally came on a side plate with no butter for my toast. One egg, bacon, very small sausage, supermarket basics hash brown, spoonful of beans, mushrooms and undercooked tomato. Other places are much cheaper £10 is usually the price for large breakfast where you get double everything and honestly tastes like a wetherspoons but they have larger portions cheaper.

Absolutely amazing staff went above and beyond for my sons birthday and very considerate of my daughter who has additional needs can not fault them at all

Shout out the the amazing management and staff at the Mayfair especially Holly, kaitlyn and the big boss Joe for accommodating our family yet again for our little lads 8th birthday. You guys knock it out the park and always go above and beyond for us and our family. You guys are always accomidating and understanding that we have a child with additional needs and you guys are what all hospitality venues should be like! The food is something to be desired and isn't really a food place. The atmosphere is great and is reccomend as part of your night out but wouldn't bother with the food, wait till the burger van pulls up as this is probably better.

Nice place to hang out on Fridays and Saturdays. The music is always trendy, you can have a good time with friends. the workload is average, I would say that there will always be exactly one table free 😂 the prices are reasonable, the staff and security are very friendly. The place is located in the city center, easily recognizable in the evening.

Lovely bar but let down by vile Bouncers. My friend went outside for an vape and tried to go back in and not allowed. my boyfriend and friend were both punched by them unprovoked, they were not drunk either. Disgusting.

Turned up at 9:30 am for the first come first serve access for the League Cup Final. I’ve got to say - the staff were amazing! They seemed overwhelmed at the start of the day but by about 3pm the toilet queues , bar queues and general organisation was slick! Great service, reasonable prices and crowd control organised brilliantly ! Well done!

Didn't eat and only 3 for service, but tbf it was after the Southampton semi-final and it was packed to the rafters with celebrating Toon fans.

We came here for breakfast twice and both times it's been really nice. Everything was cooked to perfection. The inside decor was nice and inviting it was very quiet between 10 and 11am when we went which was a bonus. The staff were friendly and efficient.

Well this isn't normally the place I would go. However I went with friends. Its a nice place. Its massive inside with a couple of pinball machines. It well done out. Very clean. The music was background with it being through the day which i loved. Prices where good. But not a good selection of beer. Just the normal horrible lagers. However!!!!!! They had loads of frozen daiquiris. I had strawberry but there was bubble gum and all sorts.

I walked past Mayfair on the way to meet my friend in town. And there were 3 young girls outside handing out the cards with discounts/offers on. I smiled and asked how their day had been and asked how they are being friendly. They smiled and spoke to me. I had seen them previously at another point and said hello before. Then the owner came out of the pub. He was wearing a white top. He swore at me saying " fu***** move away the girls are trying to do a job" "they don't want to talk to you" I responded with "excuse me I was just asking how they are" to which he responded "fu***** move along would you we don't want to talk to you" I was planning on going to the may fair pub tonight but now I won't be going. Because of how unprofessional and disrespectful the owner was towards me. Not right at all.

Called in on a very quiet Wednesday dinner time. Had a couple of pints of cider and ate off the “credit crunch lunch” menu. A stottie and either fries or soup for a fiver. I had ham, mustard and pease pudding. The ham was thick...

Great name keeping in a still nice, throwback to mayfair where gate is, good ,spacious place , good service, and selection of drinks , food was great when it opened, hope its as nice next time I go,' this month!
