The worst Sunday Lunch we have had in years, an empty dining room and after such dreadful food we shall never return ! It may be only 5 miles away ! Brought the Lamb meat home for the dog ! No way to run a business nor a kitchen !!! Fill up on Dessert said my daughter ! But that was a massive piece of heavy stodgy sponge ! Like visiting the 70s / 80s food.

Rough as a badgers' but not as friendly, this boozer is nothing like the photo and has plenty of potential that is going to waste. The beers are standard, no real ales, nothing local, the wine's gepping and the locals who drink here are as likely to punch as chat to you. Could be a gold mine. It's tired and sad instead.

We called in for a swift pint on a sunny day. The decking was dirty and the clientele fairly rough n ready. No IPA or real ales. Stock lagers on tap. Stock wine brands from small bottles. Very good pint of Guinness (had to opt for it in absence of a more refreshing choice). People friendly enough but all seems a bit run down. Have, however, heard great things about the food, especially Sunday lunches but on this showing, not the best of starts. Could be a gold mine in this former mining village.

Food very good and really good value. Staff also always friendly and pleasant. So many of the customers are known to the staff which is proof it must be good if they keep going back.

On my way to another destination but spotted the home cooked food sign. Ignore the entrance which needs updating and give it a try. The tables all had white tablecloths with a red serviette. Maybe a little old fashioned but that is the way I like it. There is no menu but everything is on a board beside the bar. There was also two specials. I selected the braised steak, veg, roast potato and mashed potato. The steak was so tender it fell apart at a touch. There is also a dessert after the meal. I picked apple pie and custard. it was proper custard and piping hot, there was plenty of apple in the pie all home made. I was very impressed and will certainly go back. You would also need to pay by cash

Another great value, great quality lunch. The steak pie is the best around, and the home made chips are fantastic. The staff are real friendly and helpful as well. Starting to make paying a visit a regular occurrence!

We occasionally go for Sunday Lunch as it is Honest food at an extremely inexpensive cost, choice of Beef, Lamb Pork or Chicken with fresh vegetables, good choice of puddings and we always choose Jam sponge with custard. £6.99 for two courses ! Friendly staff , not terribly smart but it serves a very good purpose and when we are a family of six people it will not break the bank.

We arrived on a wet Sunday afternoon and found the place packed. A small table was available but as other tables were vacated we were offered a much better one. This is a sign of good service which continued throughout. The menu was 2 courses for £6. We did not expect much for this but were astonished at the quality and quantity of food served up. The beef and lamb were very tender and tasty and came with 4 vegetables, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes and 2 large yorkshire puddings. The pudding was a delicious orange sponge with ice cream. I've paid more than twice as much on many occasions in other local restaurents and been disappointed. We both thoroughly enjoyed the meal and will be back very soon. The Mason should be congratulated for putting the likes of Wetherspoon's to absolute shame in terms of value, quality and quantity. Well done!!!!Bearing in mind the amount paid it would be disingenuous to give less than 5 stars.

As this being at the top of my street it is very handy, two courses for around 6 pound on sundays, and the puddings aren't small neither. the food is good and the drinks are fairly cheap. You definitely won't be leaving hungry :)

What was once a very popular pub, is beginning to show serious signs of wear and tear. The food is average pub food, but is Ok, if you enter through the bar door you will have to try to ignore the horrible smokers decking and piles of cigarette ends strew all over and even heaped up under the ramp, disgusting, and the gents toilets OMG.

after many years of trying various pubs for sunday lunch we stumbled across the masons arms then never went anywhere else, food was better than some pubs where we were paying 2 and somtimes 3 times the price and staff are the friendliest we came across nothing too much trouble and they are great with the children, and if you cant finish your meal they will plate it for you to take home.sadly my lunch companion died recently so i dont get there often now but am always made most welcome when i do visit

Visited The Masons Arms Dinnington Village for Sunday Lunch on a colleagues recommendation, and was not disappointed. Excellent Sunday Lunch using fresh vegetables with 2 Yorkshire puddings, tasty gravy and a more than adequate potion of delicious roast lamb. Went with my wife and daughter, my wife had roast pork and my daughter had chicken and pork - all reported favourably. Couldn't believe the price-only £5.95 per person for main course and sweet. We had syrup sponge & custard, banana split and chocolate fudge cake with ice cream - again all very nice, and you can add a starter for another £2 and a coffee for £1, where can you get a great tasting (like home made) 3 course Sunday Lunch plus coffee for £8.95? The decor could maybe do with a bit of an update (hence the 4 stars rather than 5) but the quality of the food, the friendly service, and (for me) the excellent pint of Timothy Taylors Landlord Ale could not be faulted. Heartily recommend the Masons Arms for Sunday Lunch, well worth a visit - we will definitely be back.

Had high hopes for brunch at Eve but was a bit disappointed. We were seated straight away by a friendly young man. Probably sat for about 15-20 minutes without anyone approaching us for our order. I managed to get the hosts attention and he took the order for us. Seemed like there was a lot of staff but most of them lingered round the bar area. Saying that, their uniforms were odd, some were dressed in jeans/tshirts/aprons but none of them co ordinated so not always easy to identify who worked there and who didn’t. Pancakes were £11, were quite a small portion so not enough to fill you up. The live music was good but I’m not really sure it suited the vibe.

We called into this café on our way to The Great Northern Museum. We ordered two coffees at the counter, but when we came to pay, we were told that cash was not accepted. This is a practice that we find quite deplorable so we left. It turned out well for us, because there was a café a few doors down which was very good and accepts cash.

If Victorian splendour is your thing, then this hotel is for you! All the staff are super efficient and friendly and can’t do enough for you! Special mention to Mandy, Michael and Lorraine whose service was second to none in the Empire Restaurant where I had the full English breakfast.
