Batch in Newcastle upon Tyne

I went out my way to come here as I had seen all the reviews raving about the croissants. There were several different sweet fillings available so I had a pistachio and white chocolate one. It was absolutely amazing! It was clearly made with love (and a lot of butter) and the filling was also generous without overwhelming the croissant. I would definitely recommend this place!

Entered at 8:30, light was half on, not ready to receive customer... coffee was not great

Tucked away on clayton Road in Jesmond, amazing little cafe with super friendly staff and amazing food. Their croissants are to die for and always fresh. Coffee is great too.

This is a real gem of Jesmond. I've always been a bit ambivalent about croissants but absolutely fell in love with the produce from batch. The BEST croissants I've ever tasted! And friendly staff too. Great to support independent and diverse local businesses, so essential to maintaining a uniqueness to the local area. Recommend highly 👌

Batch is our favourite coffee and cake stop in Newcastle by a mile! Superb, made from scratch, croissants and many other delicious baked goods too. The staff and owner are brilliant too. Always super friendly and great chat. A real Jesmond gem of a place.

This gorgeous bakery make THE BEST croissants in Newcastle! Their talented baker is always experimenting with new flavours and fillings so you're spoilt for choice. The owner and staff are all lovely. Highly recommended!

The croissants from batch are amazing, definitely the best I’ve ever had here in the UK. There’s always a lovely flavour selection but the pumpkin spice one I had today was honestly one of the best things I’ve ever eaten!! The white chocolate and pistachio croissant is also exceptional if pumpkin isn’t your thing. If you live in Jesmond and still haven’t been to Batch you’re missing out & if not it’s definitely worth a visit but get there pretty soon after they open especially on saturdays & sundays if you want to choose from the full selection of pastries.

I had top-notch croissants and an amazing frangipane tart. Intriguing to see into the kitchen in the back, and the staff clearly love what they do. Will pop in when ever I'm passing. Just wish I lived nearer!

The best croissants I’ve ever tried

Me and my partner have recently become a bit obsessed with croissants. We were looking for somewhere in Newcastle that does freshly baked goods and hoping for a bonus of a good coffee too! Batch did not disappoint, in fact it’s probably going to become our new go to place for a treat on a weekend. We had a Biscoff flavoured croissant as well as a chocolate one. Both unreal, but the Biscoff was something else! Both tasted so fresh and doughy which we prefer to the typical ones that fall apart and flake away making eating them messy! We both got a coffee (mocha) too which were made with care by the gentleman and not served steaming hot like a lot of places! The staff were lovely and welcoming. The place was very clean and tidy. There was also other cakes and treats to choose from as well as normal food including breakfast items. Definitely deserving of 5 stars!

Stop it! I have just been made the BEST chicken club sandwich in the city by a mile in RECORD time!! Friendly helpful staff great location & unbelievably well executed crispy bacon tasty hot chicken some type of dressing to die for!! 💕 Previously I've had pastries from here & coffee too which is also pretty exceptional BUT THIS SANDWICH...holy moly 💕❤️

I came to the bakery earlier today, having been several times before and always loving their home cooked goods. Today was no different, with the chocolate pain au choc being a hit, and although the customer service is usually good, today the two ladies behind the till were so so kind and generous, they genuinely made my day. I cannot recommend Batch highly enough to anyone, and they should be very proud of their staff. Thank you so much!

Wow! pistachio & raspberry crossaints are something else. Absolute must to visit here. Freshest bakes around & a bloody good coffee too. Travelled 20mins here after coming across Batch on instagram. and it absolutely did not disappoint!!!

Best pulled pork sandwich in Newcastle

We ordered and paid £33 for an afternoon cream tea On the day of picking it up we were advised we had to change our sandwich choice because they had ran out of tuna so we advised After picking it up we were astonished to find no clotted cream given as advertised which is obviously the main ingredient We were then more astonished after letting them know with dismissive and rude remarks how we should be happy they put some chocolate strawberries to replace the cream ( bizarre) Very pretentious,assuming and flippant to say the least and not a nice experience to deal with and they need a course on how to run a business properly Message sent We had no clotted cream with our hamper😥😥 We ran out. That’s why I added choc strawbs to compensate :( Very dissapointed as it is the one thing we were most looking forward too If id known i wouldnt of ordered No tuna Then no clotted cream Which we wernt advised of Bit ridiculous I messaged you straight away about the tuna when I realised we had non. The clotted cream I didn’t think was a big thing, that’s why I added the chocolate strawberries and the butter. I thought your box was lovely. I’m sorry you’re disappointed. Will make the no clotted cream known next time. Lol thats being ripped off

This place is fabulous! I wondered why I haven’t discovered it sooner! They make very delicious pastries especially the one with custard and raspberry (so delicious i couldn’t wait to take a picture😅), they’re smashing literally! Try them now😍you should expect a long queue but it moves quickly!

Found this place during lockdown, and visited quite regularly on my way to work for their amazing fried egg sandwiches. Today I waited half an hour in the queue outside, and when finally it was my turn to be served, was told " we are too busy to make eggs". I was highly disappointed as I had waited so long. The member of staff at the counter kept on trying to push bacon and sausages on to me, which I do not eat. Ended up getting a croissant and a cappuccino. I requested for my drink to be made extra hot, but it wasn't. Staff then could not find cutlery that I needed for my croisant. Staff need retraining in customer service skills. I understand they were busy, but that does not mean you can pick and choose what items to serve on your menu.

Best pastries I’ve had in Newcastle

Fantastic little bakery near Exhibition park. Gorgeous pastries and cakes. Friendly staff. Generous slices... We found it during lockdown but can't wait till they can serve savouries and cakes inside.

After finding Batch on Instagram, we decided to take a visit yesterday morning. We bought a selection of croissants, danishes and cakes and not one thing disappointed. The lady that served us (lovely and bubbly with blonde hair) was so friendly and helpful with suggestions. The croissant was THE nicest croissant I’ve ever had in the UK. We will DEFINITELY be back. 100% recommend a visit here. Next time we’ll try a coffee too. Thanks ladies!

Had a really tasty sourdough sandwich and coffee . The sandwich was freshly made while I waited . The coffee was really good, although the milk a little hotter than I would have liked . The service was perfect - I will definitely return as in these times it felt like such a treat !

100% recommend Batch, ordered afternoon tea for 2 and it was INCREDIBLE. The food was fresh and totally delicious, so much food that we have loads left over. Service was also excellent, so lovely! All round fantastic place that I will be visiting again!

Lovely cafe, dog friendly (unlike Willis-down the road), had brunch, great french toast, sweet corn fritters were tasty! Only negative was the bacon sandwich, bacon very crispy and bread wasn’t suitable for a bacon sandwich (sauce falls through the gaps)! Coffee good!

I visited Batch for the first time this week and it won't be my last. My friend Sophie introduced me after our gym workout. I'm so glad she did. It really is a hidden gem. We both had the detox smoothie - a big cup of green goodness. Sophie had the granola and I devoured an amazing stack of sweetcorn fritters. Not a fan of the spring onion, the chef kindly made me fresh batter. Topped with juicy mushrooms, a chilli jam and Chipotle mayo this was such a tasty plateful. Their menu is a bit different to the usual avo and eggs on toast (although they do that too.) Fab customer service, chilled vibe and definitely worth a visit 👍

Pastries and cakes are overpriced I mean seriously £2.50 for a simple plain croissant? Even in big cafe’s like costa and star bucks you’d pay much less. Very small place and many people come with pets from outside. Not hygienic one my opinion to have the kitchen and the cakes 2 meters next to hairy and smelly dogs at all.

New menu is great, reasonable prices, relaxed atmosphere. A really nice place for coffee & cake or light lunch.

We personally consider this to be some of the most amazing, freshly cooked, food you can get in Newcastle, with fabulous home-made cakes and lots of food options. However, disappointingly, we have visited on two recent occasions when the opening time advertised as 9am, was in fact closer to 10am, with no notice explaining why, and the mobile telephone number listed as contact switched off. It’s a really pity because parking can be difficult and it’s frustrating to make a trip there, get a much-desired parking space, and then find the café closed. It would be a 5 star review from us if they were open when they say they will be!

I have been living in Newcastle for several years and Batch was my favourite cafe. The atmosphere was always happy and people very kind and friendly. Everything is home baked. The food is simply amazing and good value. Croissants were my favourite, absolutely to try!

This unique cafe has definitely had its issues in the past due to family issues with owner. That seems to be over and the owner looks better and stronger. There is a new young creative chef Everyone seems happy I had a great plate of food eggs on squash purée with bacon on toasted sourdough bread My guest had a ham sandwich on Brown sourdough bread Both dishes were well presented and very tasty I had Americano and my guest had good strong tea Sometimes the family are present and they are chatting to everyone. We like this Some may not Let’s hope they get rave reviews on the new menu. Just give her a chance, she is in a better place.

Wonderful cosy place with great food

A bizarre and unappetising lunch. Staff seemed clueless and unprepared for Saturday lunch service. The floor was covered in scraps, the cutlery dirty and the food unappetising. They couldn’t even find clean glasses to serve our drinks in. Prices were above average for average food.

I am French, and honestly I was looking for a place where I can find bread and croissants like at home in Newcastle and I found it :) I can only recommend. it is delicious!

Awful service. Drinks arrived with spillage on the outside of cups. No cutlery to cut cake. No napkins. Toilet was not clean

I love this lovely little coffee shop mixing modern with tradition. Absolutely delicious home made cakes and really good coffee. We had afternoon tea and all was baked from scratch and that day. Delicious sandwiches on sourdough bread and mini croissants with cream cheese and smoked salmon, straight from the oven scones, cream and jam, a mini taster of cakes just enough to satisfy. Real fire in winter. I think they now bake vegan which I’m looking forward to trying. Can’t recommend enough.

Wonderful friendly service. I was made to feel really welcome by the owner and her staff who offered me a festive glass and cake as they cleared for their Xmas break. Great coffee too.

My coffee arrived without the milk I had asked for, and it took a while to get hold of the person who served me. It then took a very long time for my meal to come. Perhaps I came at an awkward moment for staff!
