Didn't have food. Had a glass of wine. Very nice and staff helpful and friendly.

Decent pub. But today the killjoy staff were not letting people sit outside through the side door.

Me and my wife went for a joint birthday lunch wich her son bought for us. Got to say, couldn't fault the food wich was very nice but the service was terrible. We waited 40 minutes for our food but other people were coming in and getting there food within 10 minutes. They told us the printer had run out then told us it didn't print our food out 🤔🤔 And we asked for the bill 3 times and got ignored. All we got was an apology So won't be going again better pubs around the area for me

Quiet lunchtime drink location. A great typical, more traditional type of pub. Good drinks choice. Friendly, efficient service.

We did not eat at Fitzgerald's but spent an hour in there having drinks after doing a bit shopping..we got served straight away and sat at the tables in front of the bar.every person in the bar seemed to be friendly having struck up conversation with quite a few people, I went back to the bar when it was a bit busier and still got served straight away.. overall a very warm and friendly place and that means a lot in my book easy 5 stars.

Very respectable city central bar. Not particularly 'cool or hip' but a decent drinking space. Beers are steadily priced with a good generic selection across the alcoholic board. It attracts the older crowd but that's fine. Fairly big so seating is aplenty. If you're looking to hit the arguably trendier Harry's, Luga or PTMY across the way and they're rammed, then come here instead.

Excellent bar where you can sit and chat! Not full of idiots screaming and bawling, great range of beers and the venue is comfy warm and welcoming. All up a decor venue for a few beers and a relax and close to other bars and restaurants in the city Centre.

Steady Eddie as pubs go. Good range of drinks and a nice atmosphere.

Cheap and welcoming. An older person's pub but great none the less. Will be back. Empty star for food as I didn't have any! Enjoy the toon. HWTL.

A great busy bar on my Saturday night visit. Busy, but still room to move about! I chose a pint of white rat from the real ale menu. Being from Wakefield West Yorks, this is a local brew and was in perfect condition 👌. I will visit again and encourage others to do so if they're in Toon. 🍻

We had planned a 5 year, much needed family reunion in the Toon and needed a specific area to seat some elderly relatives. It just so happened to be a football Saturday but Nicola @ Fitzgeralds made it happen! Nice little bar on Grey Street. Seemed to be popular amongst the older generation on my vist, but nicely decorated and lovely staff.

After a walk around Newcastle, my friends and I decided to call into Fitzgeralds for a couple of drinks. It was a really warm Saturday afternoon, and despite the inside being large, it was full and standing (always a good recommendation). We decided to sit in the outside area, which is an oasis of calm. It is really big and set out like an amphitheatre, so you can sit in groups of whatever size and still have a good catch-up chat (or sit quietly and take in the quiet). The real ales are well kept, and they have a good variety

Outside was packed inside we managed to get a table, good atmosphere but not too busy but still early on Saturday, first time in here & enjoyable visit!

Great bar to go to for drinks. We went at 5 in the afternoon and we struggled to find a seat! Drinks are spot on and the atmosphere is great.

Called in for a glass of wine and the had to get the attention of staff who were chatting behind the bar rather then watching for customers. Expensive drink and left to go somewhere more else. Enough said.

Traditional city centre pub with good selection of beers. Not too rowdy. Perhaps suits the more mature customer (like me).

My twin brother Stephen and I were taking in the wonderful architectural buildings along Grey Street when we decided to drop into Fitzgeralds and what a great pub this is . Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here ,the interior is superb, dark wood features, a very cool solid wood serving bar, wonderful decor and furnishings, great seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling Grey Street, its a cosy pub to chill out in. We were here on a Thursday night, pub was busy with a great atmosphere, we ordered at the bar and chose John Smiths bitter, served in excellent condition, we settled down and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub. My bitter was absolutely superb, a much underrated beer style, a freezing cold bitter when served in pristine condition as in this pub is such a refreshing brew ,so tasty and a nice change from the more lager style beers we had been drinking earlier on in the day. We really enjoyed our bitters in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to Fitzgeralds we were totally impressed. Fitzgeralds is easy to locate along Grey Street. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday, Midday till 11pm. Friday & Saturday, Midday till Midnight. Sunday, Midday till 11pm. Most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Fitzgeralds on Grey street is a superb pub that offer's a fantastic range of beers and pub grub and is located in a great area of Newcastle. This pub is a bit of an institution and is one of the many pubs and bars we visited on a six day city break to Newcastle and one of the best. With a traditional pub interior which many interesting features and excellent seating option's throughout the whole pub interior Fitzgeralds is a pub that as soon as you go here you know you are going to enjoy your visit. When we went here late in the evening this pub was very lively and there was a superb atmosphere.On our visit to this superb pub we had a John Smith's Brewery bitter each that were perfectly served and well priced. Fitzgeralds is well worth visiting and is easy to find from Grey street bus stop its a short walk.(This is my first review of Fitzgeralds). Opening Hours. Monday-Friday-12.00-23.00. Cracking place lovely inside,very efficient staff outside for nice days but could with separate sides for nonsmokers

Called in after visiting Theatre Royal, great clientele, and a fantastic buzz about the place. Super choice of drinks, served quickly by charming staff. Loads of seating, and not too crowded.

Lovely place to go to with friends or with partner. Very relaxing.

We visited Fitzgeralds for the first time since lockdown last October and we were all glad to see nothing has changed. From very pleasant door staff to excellent service and very good beer with sensible pricing (other bars in the vicinity could learn from this ) meant everyone left really pleased this place has reopened and we all look forward to being regular visitors again

Don’t know if previous reviewers were in same pub as us but we loved the place. Staff fantastic remembered our order helped elderly gentlemen in for a pint with their track and trace. Toilet spotless. Definitely be back when we visit from Scotland.

Waited 20 minuets to be served while several people that came in after we did got served first so got up and left.This manager needs to go to the Adelph to see how staff bend over backwards to serve their customers .No excuse for 2nd rate service. Bob

Not my scene or place to go normally, typical pub, so not bad, not and not brilliant, drinks are fair priced a lot of office workers go there, pleasant and safe

Cargado 65 p por un chorrito de limonada, 3ª pinta 3. 50, no estoy pagando 65 p por un chorrito de limonada, me preguntaron si quería uno y les dije que no a esos precios. 4ta pinta de cafés shandy 3. 40) . . Estaba con 8 amigos, las mesas no estaban libres de vasos, de hecho, dos veces los muchachos llevaban vasos al bar. Intentar que te sirvan es una pesadilla, un buen barman debe saber quién es el próximo en ser atendido. No aquí, literalmente, pasarán junto a ti mientras agitas tu dinero para servir a alguien más. . . Buena selección de cervezas. Básicamente una estafa, aunque no he probado la comida. . .

He estado en las pocas ocasiones de Fitzgerald y me doy cuenta de por qué no voy tan a menudo. Al estar en Gray Street Newcastle, entiendo que los precios pueden ser un poco más que en otras áreas de la ciudad. Sin embargo, cualquier pinta que toque 4 es un poco ridícula incluso para esta maravillosa zona de la ciudad. Ahora no me importa pagar por la calidad y el ambiente, sino 4. 20 para un pozo de Peroni, tal vez solo soy yo, pero eso es una caminata de cerveza premium, especialmente cuando puedes obtener una pinta de Stella por 3. 60 a unos cientos de metros de distancia. Muy bien de lo negativo, el bar es agradable y bien distribuido, los baños limpios y las sillas altas con respaldo alto para morirse. Muy cómodos esos asientos. ¿Bebería aquí otra vez? ¡Si! Pero trata de no olvidarte de las mesas, puedo ser exigente, pero es lo que ves cuando entras por la puerta.

Until we found the live and wriggling slug things were fairly OK, but then after that we just wanted to get out. They refunded us for ONE of the two meals only despite us leaving most of the food.

Lovely oldie worldie place nice staff relaxing atmosphere would definitely go ago. Barman very knowledgeable on real ales and let my husband sample a couple before he choose the right one.

Popped in today for lunch with family found it reasonably priced and friendly welcoming staff food was very good and the pub is clean and inviting there are steps yo the various levels but there is a ramp for wheel chair users into the pub and plenty seats and space in the entrance area

We always call in here when visiting Newcastle the service/ambiance here is great the staff are always attentive and helpful in anyway they can, this is a favourite place for us and they make you feel relaxed and welcome Well done!!

Great bar but let down by female member of staff who would not change a glass of wine that was clearly not right. 4 seperate members of the group tasted it and all agreed it was disgusting. Female member of staff quite rude and seemed very grumpy that we even questioned the wine. 18 of us in that day there's plenty of choice in the town for us to go elsewhere in the future.

We often visit Fitzgeralds when in town and there's always a decent friendly atmosphere no matter what time of day or how many pople are in.

Good craic. Packed cause it was raining, but they had a good mix of ales. Decent service anawl.

Popped in here for the first time to have a few drinks pre-dinner, quite modern, nice decor with a wide range of drinks, staff attentive and easy to get served, reasonably easy to get a table given it was a Friday evening.

Vamos a Newcastle unas 10 veces al año y planeamos probar algunos pubs en los que nunca habíamos estado antes. Era un sábado temprano por la noche, el bar parece bastante pequeño desde el exterior, pero cuando entras y vas hacia la parte de atrás, se abre a un enorme salón. Tiene una decoración impresionante y una sensación muy agradable. Definitivamente, uno a quien llamar regularmente a partir de ahora.

Pub busy between 14.00 and 16.00 and only 4 staff behind the bar 🤔🤔 thought they would have more staff on duty especially at this time of year queues joke....

I’ve been coming here since it was a tatty bar with gambling machines in the window. I love the refurbishment. It’s a great place to chill and sensibly priced. Love it.

This was a really enjoyable visit - only downside was that the offer on cocktails was no longer on. That was the real reason I used to enjoy going there.

A very comfortable pub but was very disappointed that they had scrapped a full meals service at lunch times.Very good staff well trained.

We had lunch here on a weekday; it’s restaurant with a bar in the back, but you order at the bar as in a pub. The food was fine, but it was a pretty scant menu and the service was quite slow.

The Menu is very basic, food presentation is average, cooking good, the best meal I have had at this pub is sausage and mash and they took it off the menu ?

An institution with some changes over the years this is much more “bar” than “restaurant”. Anarchy Blonde Star is a staple here which is good news but loads of other choices too. Definitely a 40+ Bar. On the best street in Newcastle.
