Greggs in Newcastle upon Tyne

Served just after 6am on 05/04 by an officious lad (name not known as he wasn’t wearing a name tag. He was a larger than life type). There was only 2 servers on and a family in front of me were already being served by a smiley friendly chap. I had already noticed the manner of this guy who eventually served me and hoped I wouldn’t be served by him but I fortunately I was. He said all the right things but without any sincerity and just going through the motions. I ordered a bacon roll and watched as he literally shoved it together. The bacon was all hanging out, the sauce just dumped and then all thrown in a bag. Now I know it’s ‘just’ a Greggs bacon sarnie but I buy them because they are usually consistently good. Well cooked bacon, fresh bun and importantly put together so it looks appealing. Sadly this wasn’t the case on this occasion. Service was poor and impersonal and the presentation was only fit for the bin. Shame.

A first stop right after the exit doors on leaving an inbound flight. Great if you're hungry after a long trip and you're desperate for a decent cup of English tea. But - always busy, limited seating and depending on when you get there many of the food options may have run out.

This is supposed to be a flagship site for a flagship Newcastle brand in a flagship spot. It's hardly a tricky service proposition, is it, serving coffee and cold drinks, warm pies, cold sandwiches and snacks. People love the Greggs brand. Yet this prime location service outlet serves up cold food delivered by miserable staff. Must do better.

Greggs is always dependable! Love their sandwiches and baked items. They have saved me from going hungry many a time when I've been stuck at the airport at odd hours. Prices are steep but that's to be expected at an airport outlet. Staff are always kind and prompt with the service.

Had breakfast there before going on holiday to tennerife. Very quick and very nice

Visited before and after a flight good food.

Lovely staff but the vegetable pasty was cold, surprisingly undercooked, over priced. Could have done with better after a 23 hour flight!

2.35 for a steak bake! Scandalous.

It's a Greggs...... nowt complicated

Awful - staff were miserable, no bacon, no hash browns, no eggs - just half cooked bacon and cold chicken bakes which they aren't allowed to heat up. Absolutely awful place.

Think this place needs to close for 24hrs for a deep clean.

Amazing place, good hearty Northern food

Food fine as always. But really grubby cafe area seating and tables such a mess. Should really wipe tables once in a while.

One of the only places to eat landside. They are efficient and the same prices as other Greggs stores, plus you can use your app there.

Can't beat a greggs sausage and bacon baguette.

Unfortunately I wasnt impressed by the freshness of my order today. Service was good though.

A must visit to start your holiday off. Loads of filling, good cup of tea or coffee and good value for money

We love our coffee and bacon sandwiches to start the day at the Gregg’s a Newcastle Airport. The service is good, simple eating area and superb English back bacon sandwich.

What you would expect from a Gregg's. Seemed to be a bit more pricey been at the airport but still good value

The staff really made my early morning bearable, the Lady with dark brown hair was lovely. Food was perfect as usual as well.

Our family of 9 persons had a lovely snack and drinks at Greggs on our way out of Newcastle airport before making our way home and it was most enjoyable.

Holy grail after a 6am flight from Mallorca. Bacon roll and decent coffee. Yes!

Purchased Hot to Go Potato Wedges. Lovely and hot No Salt or Sauces available also purchased Vegan Sausage Roll asked if it could be warmed server advised they weren’t allowed to warm them. So Cold Vegan Sausage Roll with Hot Potato Wedges (no salt). On the plus side Greggs server pleasant and polite. Greggs not thank you

Great idea having a Greggs here. Good store. Well stocked. All the usual available. Lots of staff. Floors cd be brushed on a more regular basis but otherwise definitely worth a visit

What can you say about Gregg's, a north east institution. Good tasty food, at a reasonable price. Love their, bacon and sausage rolls, their triple chocolate doughnut, their steak bakes.

The airport Greggs is good. It has friendly service and a large selection of food and treats to satisfy. All food stuff excluding yoghurt and drinks can be taken through security at the airport - which is excellent. They only thing is it appears that having Greggs at the airport will cost you a premium rate compared to one of the outlets in the Toon.

Much better taste, quality and value than the synthetic offerings onboard Thomas 'Crook', etc. We use it everytime we fly, not been disappointed or ripped off yet...

Visited Greggs on leaving for our holiday, & then again on our return. Nothing a problem, food & tea is piping hot, prices unbelievably good. Had a little problem on the return visit to Greggs. Unfortunately, there was butter on my bacon baguette, to which my wife took back. Greggs did not only exchange the baguette, but re placed it with fresh bacon & baguette, without hesitation, fantastic service. A credit to the staff.

Too many queues not enough staff

This Greggs is amazing and also the food is really good and so are the drinks . The puddings are also really good . I really like this Greggs.

This Greggs is great. I always have a chocolate muffin and it’s always been delicious. Really good value too.

excellent value for money and quality for an airport location

Always call in at Greggs when ever we are in the Newcastle area if only to buy some stotties ( round flat bread about 12" round and 3" deep with a more course open crumb). The are best for ham and pease pudding sarnie. The sausage rolls are canny good too. Wish we could buy stoties in the North West although you can't get meat and tatty pies in Gordie land.

When flying out from Newcastle International Airport we always pay a visit to Greggs before going into the manic, expensive Departure Lounge. You know what to expect it's perfectly edible and drinkable and provides a bit of cheap packing before a long journey.

Greggs is an established place, I get it - we get it. But it's not that good. Pies can be better! Not commercialised like this.

What can I say it’s Greggs! Good solid food and always good value! Steak bakes beautiful and always same across uk! Keep it up Greggs.

My son loves their hot sausage rolls. Always warm and fresh. We only come to greggs when on vacations, none near where we live, so it's a must eating place every time we come up North. Just got off a long flight and sat and enjoyed hot food and a drink.

you can never go wrong with a greggs. good priced and tasty products... :) I picked up some stottie rolls aswell

Good to see Greggs getting a franchise at an airport & a welcome inexpensive alternative to the usual airport fare!

stocked up on some goodies here before flight ,good selection and reasonable prices will keep coming back before our hols!

No matter what time you travel you can rely on Newcastle's best bakery to be open with a full range at honest prices. Sometimes all you need is a bacon butty and a decent coffee and Greggs never fails in this department no matter what time of day and they always offer the same deals as outside the Airport

Compared with most airport cafes etc this is excellent value, tasty and the staff are friendly. I always make a bee line for here when travelling as the coffee's decent and their fare is consistent. Don't be a snob, give it a go!

Popped into Greggs at Newcastle Airport for breakfast, & we were rather surprised.

Quick lattes and treats. So cheap. The staff are always friendly in the Kingston Park Gregs. Can't fault it. Think it's around £2.50 for a large latte and cake.

Lovely Bacon and Sausage sandwich and coffee great start to an early morning. Also bought fresh pastries to eat on the plane. Excellent friendly service.

Apart from a somewhat slow service, everything else is up to the standards that you find at any Greggs in the North.

We always grab food to take through to the departure lounge with us, either to eat there or taken on the plane with us. Also handy to grab something quick to eat and a bottle of milk when you arrive back.

Staff very poorly groomed and in very dirty uniforms . Staff are more interested in conducting their social life and exchanging banter with each other than serving customers. I am surprised that Greggs continues to be so successful because all the stores have similar issues...

Just fancied a light snack but fell into a subtle price difference The clarity of the sandwich and drink deal for £3 for two and two bags of plain crisps came to £8.40 Its vat for sitting in apparently Not very transparent at all

Greggs prawn mayo baguette is my favourite unfortunately the consistency is dreadful. The disparity between crunchy and soft changes by shop. The airport shop prices are high too.

Located within the Newcastle airport terminal, I was taken by surprise to find that this particular Greggs doesn't offer Meal Deals. Whether that's up to the franchisee or whatever but it can actually double the price of your food if catering for a family. You will pay higher than High street prices anyway due to being situated within the airport terminal.

The staff at Newcastle Airport Greggs are excellent. They are efficient, hard working and very pleasant to the customers. We regularly walk there for coffee because they are so friendly.

You know exactly what you are getting with a Greggs. Hot & Greasy pastries.Stopped off for something to eat when landed. Filled a small hole.

Always nice to have a nice corned beef pasty at the airport before you go off on holiday. Nice coffee and pleasant service.

Fast food at a reasonable price is Greggs Motto. First shop to open was in Gosforth just outside of Newcastle and have now spread to all parts of Britain There is even one on Newcastle airport which must be impacting on the other restaurants profits as they charge the earth for mediocre food.

Moved the counter enabling more shelf and display a positive step. Provides first class sandwiches and pies with plenty of variety and always freshly made on site. Seems to never always be open presumably operates whenever the airport is operational. Serves very good hot drinks as well as chilled drinks. If you want to sit and eat tables and chairs are available but you are meant to pay vat on your purchases if utilising that facility.

Very busy and popular place within the airport. Stotties are a speciality in the north east and in great demand.

If you've been on holiday and like the Greggs, the smell of the freshly baked pasties drifts across the arrivals hall and pulls people in... at least that's what it seems like to me!

Slightly more expensive than highstreet Greggs but its a darn sight cheaper that the other outlets. Available in the main hall so after arriving on the Metro, Steak bake and a coffee sets you up for the flight nicely.

I noticed that greggs were having a revamp at the airport. I decided to go today and order a mince pie. Nice modern look to it. Nothing more to say. You can sit inside or take out which is good for waiting flights. Other than that lovely staff and atmosphere. Would go again

Having an early morning flight, we needed to be at the airport at a very early time. After checking in this was the ideal venue for that much needed cuppa and a hot sandwich. The service was very good, the seating area has been upgraded since our last visit and the prices were very reasonable. As for the food and drink, well with Greggs you know what you are going to get . Hot fresh and tasty

The exceptionally long opening hours of this takeaway/sitting in establishment make it ideal if you are needing some subsidence before or after flying. Freshly prepared sandwiches and freshly baked pies are always available together with other breakfast type foods accompanied by the usual hot beverages and chilled drinks. Prices are clearly marked to show the difference between takeaway and sitting in(vat). Don't forget you can take food onto the airlines it is always cheaper than the prices on the plane and in all probability it will be fresher.

Best value place to get breakfast in the airport. Good hot & tasty food with plenty of options. Just remember to go there after check-in & before going to departure lounge

Every time we go abroad, twice a year, we always stop at Greggs at the airport for our breakfast before flying. We usually have egg and bacon rolls with a cup of tea each, which are made fresh as you wait. The food is always very nice and the tea is just like home. Because of the limited choice of food on the airline, we always buy a sandwich to eat on the plane, our flight is usually 4 1/2 hours, to the Greek islands. We buy a cup of tea on the plane to have with our sandwiches. We always notice other passengers looking jealously at us while we have our sandwiches.

Every time we use Newcastle Airport Greggs is our first port of call brilliant food and good prices, I hope I dont make it to popular so that I cant get in

If you like Greggs this is no different to many others. Café au lait and a bacon bun to start the day - £2.70. Far cheaper than other places in the Airport.

Is there anything better than a sausage roll from Gregg's? Maybe, but I've not found it yet.If I lived in England, I would go to Gregg's every morning for a sausage roll. I'd purposefully walk a 1.5 mile route to get there so I wouldn't gain a million pounds. The pastry is flaky. The sausage is flavorful. The experience is sublime. Just go to Gregg's whenever you see one.

Greggs is one of my favourite restaurant in Newcastle, it has many branches in Newcastle & they serve good food, I like shrimp sandwich & Mozzarella sandwich.its good place to eat if you are busy & you have a short lunch break.

Not a lot u can say about a review of one of the big beasts of the takeaway industry other than reflect on a consistently high standard they achieve. they do not hold airs or graces but manage to deliver time and again their brand of affordable savouries and sandwiches.I have made a review of the airport outlet as it refreshing to have breakfast at an airport affordable with a family of 6.Special mention must be made for the coffee, although not pretending to be premium is however always a punchy and aromatic brew, only have black so cannot comment on milk derivatives. Still true to the snotty, tho I do often hanker for the greggs of my youth but understand their success was born not out of standing still but moving forwards, distilling what has mass appeal,

Called in my local greggs after 2 wks holiday shocked to find my favourite pasties corn beef had gone up 10 pence shame but i wont be buying anymore

Asked for Baguette's but received Buns. Received Sausages in Bun instead of Bacon. We didn't have the time to complain about it.

Popped here to get me sausage sarnies, they are the best in town, set me up for the day, staff friendly to and always willing to help

Located next to both the Emirates' check in desk and the arrivals gate this is a well located Greggs. There is the usual array of pasties, donuts etc. (at high street prices) as well as reasonably priced coffees and a good range of hot/cold baguettes. There is seating and tables next to the serving area for approximately 30 people. Staff were friendly when we visited.Whilst we're not regular customers of Greggs we feel they deserve praise for not ripping off the air traveller (as many others do including at this airport).

Getting to the airport at 5am it's wonderful to be able to buy fresh food and hot & cold drinks and you know you are getting good quality. Real Geordie Pride.

Greed is driving many away yes sales are up but so are their prices, escalating on a ridiculous scale excuse is ingredients are getting expensive , rubbish friends work in bakeries elsewhere and tell me they throw flour etc away on large scales as cheap enough rather than keep and store. Cheaper and better quality produce available elsewhere.

had a lovely sandwich and even got a Greggs treat, due to not having exactly what I wanted, the staff are jolly and serve quickly even when some customers are impatient or grumpy they still display that Geordie charm and hospitality, value is expected in a fast food market, it is also first port of call for early travellers.

Hope this is the airport greggs...if not I apologise...5 am ...4 x staff working..1 serving..que out the door..no one bothered...nice food though..

After a business trip or a weekend away there is nothing better than a steak bake when you arrive back in Newcastle.It's basic, tasty Greggs food we all know and love.Can't give it 5stars as it's just an airport Greggs. But it's as good as any other.

Whether you want something before or after you fly or something for on the plane then Greggs provide a good selection of fresh sandwiches and pies as well as hot drinks.

Food was nice, fresh and hot.Staff were very helpful and friendly.The only problem was it was under staffed and the queuing time was about 20 minute's so it would be no good if you were on a break at work.

We stayed at the Double Tree hotel and didn't want an expensive restaurant meal so we walked 30 seconds over the road to the airport and went to Greggs for some sandwiches and pasties!Usual good quality and even though it was in the airport the prices were not that inflated to normal prices on the high street.

True evil comes from within. Now evil comes in many forms - most notably the worlds hottest 'steak bake'. I asked for it 'cold' which is apparently against policy. I was assured it was lukewarm. To my mouths horror and my own nerve endings delight I was greeted by what can only be described as liquid meat magma. I have spent two days with frozen peas in my mouth due to the noxious temperature of the produce. It was like the Enola Gay had delivered it into my mouth. In the words of the philosopher, Clubber Lang and what he predicted 'PAIN'.Staff were lacking in social skills too. I thought I was actually talking to Charlie Babbitt at one point. Need a complete refurb and retraining in making the fast food industry human.

As we waited for 1 of my girls me and the mrs had a Greggs and was not disappointed, fast and friendly service

We always call in here for a drink and a sandwich (or bacon sandwich if it's morning time) before every flight away.You know what you are getting so no complaints.Always friendly staff too!

The title says it all. Awful stale factory made greasy and highly processed garbage! I was coerced by my step daughter to buy her a savoury. I will stand strong next time. Walk on by. The illusion of a bakery is just that.
