Fab little place with great food. Quick service and a nice vibe. Good coffee too.

We came to Blake's for breakfast after seeing the good reviews and how busy it can get. We got the full english, veggie full english, orange juice and tea. Unfortunately, the orange juice was very warm, but also I didn't want to water it down by putting ice (and wasn't offered it either). The food was okay. The plate didn't look anywhere near as full and exciting as we had seen in the reviews. It did need A LOT of salt and pepper. It did take some time for us to get our food and the staff looked rushed off their feet which makes sense with how busy the place was. The sandwiches looked exciting but we didn't try them. Overall, I think the food was just average. It wasn't bad but you could make it a lot better at home. So I don't think we would go back.

Called in for a lovely couple of coffees with friend who obviously can't see very well. Shall we have a slice of cake to share i said? What is that salad cake she says. No that's school cake Karen😂 It was delish but probably more calories!

Even after 30 years it’s still the best breakfast in Newcastle.

Cracking cafe for breakfast. If you're staying in Newcastle then get yourself down to Blake's. You won't be disappointed.

So popped in yesterday for breakfast, my husband had the salmon and eggs which he states were great as usual, however I ordered a full Monty to be given the wrong breakfast, when I mentioned it they took it away only to emerge 5 minutes later with the same breakfast, and said, well bring the rest of your breakfast over when it’s cooked, other half finished still waiting, other part of breakfast arrived whilst my original serving was cold, I complained asked for the difference in the full Monty and full English and was told no as I had been given the correct order eventually, both servings not eaten, I again said I think it was unfair I was served 3 times for breakfast when my order should have came complete, the apparent manager and her customer service then when on to accuse me of being barred anyway for complaining about the eggs, I have to say Blake’s you left a sour taste in my mouth and I’m not yolking, bank contacted for refund of full amount.

Such a great place for brunch! The staff are awesome and the food is top-notch. Best black pudding ever!

Brilliant breakfast food, but it was the service that truly stood out. Our waiter (and the whole team) were second to none – warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. Every detail was taken care of with a smile. A perfect start to the day – can’t wait to return! Even tho I had to charge my phone, they were very accommodating around this! No idea why this has good reviews, this is a terrible breakfast cafe. Veggie breakfast inedible.. Full English.... Well.. Poor quality, overcooked, overpriced. No hash browns. Staff were dicking around on their phones while you wait 30 mins for a crap breakfast.

A great place for breakfast and brunch. Eat in or take away. Large selection of dishes to choose from. Sandwiches, salads, wraps, cakes, scones, full breakfast, coffees teas juices etc etc. Industrial decoration and open kitchen. Very central location and a really nice change from national chains. Update 20.03.25. Still brilliant. Love it

Sorry to say but my breakfast was terrible. Couldn't cut into the tomato or the black pudding as was overcooked and hard . Eggs over cooked even the toast was not good .

It seemed promising because it was so busy, but we had a very disappointing full monty breakfast. The fried eggs were fried completely dry. The Black pudding was completely hard baked on one side, making it impossible to cut with a knife. The tomato was not ripe at all (so hard) and the toast bread was extremely dry, no longer soft bread inside. Bacon wasn't great either. Only the sausages and beans and tomatoes were worth eating.

Always been a go to for me when I'm visiting town Such a shame, food used to be 15/10. Fab. Unfortunately falling short on the last couple of occasions.

First time here and it was very good, was a que when arrived but went down really quick, really busy and popular place, our dishes were eggs royal which was very tasty and my partner got the full Monty he said it was one of the best full English he has ever had. Service was quick coffee was nice only slight let down was no one asked if our food was ok Good value for money and good choice on menu

Encontré Blake en una aplicación que mi novio usa para restaurantes sin gluten. Muy atento con respecto a lo que mi novio podría comer en el menú, incluso intercambiar artículos para él. Ninguno de los dos podía culpar a la comida o servicio. Tomé el desayuno grande con café y él tomó el Monty lleno con café. Sin duda volveré de nuevo.

First visit on Saturday got a take a way latte loved the place though and will be back maybe for food lovely place lovely staff 😊

Wow, what a let down this place has become. Still expensive but nothing like how it used to be. Ordered American style pancakes and got the most supermarket bought food ever.

This place was a much better option than our hotel breakfast. Food was excellent, service quick and staff friendly.

Vino a Blake's para desayunar esta mañana ya que el lugar fue recomendado por varias personas en un hilo en línea. La verdad es que el desayuno era muy poco inspirador. Tomate duro roca, pudín negro estándar de hockey puck, sobre huevos cocidos, salchichas estándar, tocino y hongos agradables sin embargo. Pagué más de £ 15 por un desayuno americano y completo esperando gourmet, pero me quedé decepcionado. No estoy seguro de que un desayuno sin un hachís marrón debe describirse como un "monty completo" sin check backs del personal, lugar de jaleo, sin embargo, así que tal vez tuve mala suerte?

A simple nice place. The food is good. The atmosphere is nice. If you just want a place where you can a nice breakfast and coffee for not too much this the place to go!

Came here to get breakfast after walking out of "Laneway" because of their lack of customer service. What a world of difference at Blakes. The staff were obviously run off their feet, but greeted us happily as we entered and found us a table. The service was efficient and the food was great. The atmosphere was lovely, really busy but everyone enjoying a positive experience.

The idea that British food is bad will disappear! ! I thought full breakfast was available only on plates, but sandwiches (stotties) also existed. It's delicious as it is, but when I added HP sauce, which is always available at every restaurant, it was an absolute winner 🏆 This is a small and cute restaurant that is loved by locals.

Just stopped for a coffee .. we all sat outside as it was so busy inside .. friends had a breakfast there on a separate occasion and said it was delicious but its not something I had, friendly staff, lovely and clean and won't hesitate to visit when we come back

I absolutely love coming here, especially for the breakfast. The atmosphere is great, staff are all lovely and most importantly the food is amazing. I've been here 3 times so far and I've been impressed. Everything looks amazing. Definitely recommend! 😁

My first visit and cannot believe it! Been a Town shopper for more years than I care to remember and my 11 year old grandson had to introduce me to Blakes! Fabulous place, food and staff. Big thank you to our server who quickly cleaned up the spilt hot chocolate without embarrassing my grandson, who was devastated. She then provided him with another one which he devoured quickly. Highly recommend this lovely place. Our pancakes and tuna melt were delicious 😋

I went here last month and ordered an eggs benedict, which tasted disgusting compared to how it tastes in other restaurants like Wetherspoons The staff were nice, though

Came here to have a nice brunch meal with a friend after being recommended it previously. I ordered a simple pancakes and eggs but requested the eggs be scrambled instead of fried. I also ordered an iced caramel latte (the only think worth paying for in this entire order). What I received was disappointing. I was shocked to be presented with 4 tiny, thin ‘american style pancakes’, which were nothing of the sort and I’d requested Nutella as my sauce which came in a little pot in the middle. My issue was not how the pancakes tasted, which was fine, it was the miniscule portion sizes in contrast to how much they charge for this. The eggs took the biscuit however. These had to have been the worst eggs I’ve ever been given. They were so rubbery and flavourless. The texture was so abysmal I wondered if the chef knew how to make a scrambled egg. It was almost as if it was steamed or microwaved and then scrambled after. Or not freshly made that day. Either way they were inedible I didn’t finish it. The entire order amounted to over £13 which I think is quite literally daylight robbery. I would not recommend Blakes if you’re looking for good value for money or to request any variation of what they have on the menu. Because clearly, they’re going to struggle greatly with accommodating and you will be disappointed. I don’t think I requested anything too much apart from a scrambled instead of fried egg. I will not be going back as I know for £13, I can get my money’s worth elsewhere.

Fantastic place , my son loved his pancakes and he said it was the best breakfast he has ever had. The portions were a good size and the staff were really friendly, highly recommended.

Very good menu choice for breakfast. Only criticism is lack of healthy options like fruit. Staff could be a wee bit more friendly, but not too bad.

We had a lovely lunch in Blakes.On holiday in Newcastle and wanted something to eat .I went up to a lady to see if she recommended anywhere and she suggested Blakes.Had a really nice lunch and very reasonably priced .Nice atmosphere too.

Comfortable place, nice coffee and fast service. However, it was the worst vegan breakfast I have had in a long time. Cheap horrible sausages, no vegan marge, but they put dairy Marge on the plate - why would they do that - so dry toast and raw spinach that looked like an after thought. It looked like a token offer if a vegan breakfast from carnivores who begrudge making it. Disgusting.

Stopped in for breakfast with my partner we ordered a latte ,hot chocolate with a big stottie with American style pancakes. The staff were very friendly and the food was amazing and it was pretty quick to get to us.

Honestly the worst breakfast I've ever had, no taste, cold, wouldn't swap the eggs even when i paid for a extra poached egg that was rock hard and not runny

Staff very friendly and great vibe. Unfortunately the full English breakfast wasn't so good. Sausage undercooked, bacon overcooked, coffee and breakfast £10 but not worth the money. Disappointing as previous visits have been better. Would be reluctant to return.

The Full English Breakfast was fantastic. The American style pancakes are also delicious. Very friendly service by their staff and I enjoyed my breakfast here.

A hair in my food is always a no no. I did not complain but I did not finish my plate. This is very unfortunate because their coffee is really nice, the place and the service were good.

Met my sister here for breakfast and we ordered eggs royale and scrambled eggs with two coffees. The order came quickly and was really hot and both meals were delicious. First time here but it will not be my last.

Always fresh and good quality food here at Blakes. The breakfast stottie is a delight, bacon, egg and sausage and/or black pudding. Perfect. The range of teas is good too, my go to is Earl Grey and the coffees are spot on. Outside space is fine for outside if the weather is right. Love it here, been coming since the mid 90s. Top service too. 👍👍👍

I had been wanting to visit this place for a long time, but the min a went in a got horrible attention. The front of house (blond lady tacking the orders) was so rude, that I didn’t even bother stay. I’m not going to sit and eat in a place with incredible rude staff.

The full English breakfast is a classic choice, and it's one of the best I've had. The sausages are perfectly cooked and the eggs are perfectly poached. The rest of the breakfast is also great, with hash browns, beans and mushrooms. The coffee at Blakes is also great. They have a variety of different coffees to choose from, and they're all made fresh to order. I had a flat white, and it was one of the best I've had in Newcastle. The only thing I see missing is the toilet could have been a little cleaner. The service at Blakes is also excellent. The staff are friendly and attentive, and they're always happy to make recommendations

I like it here, it's not flash and has a variety of snacks and light meals as well as coffees. I've been coming here for 30 years and it's the original coffee house in Newcastle (as far as I'm aware). It predates the chain places and it's rustic theming isn't all show, if you're near by it's worth a look 👍

had my first stottie here and it was delicious. place was packed to the brim but was a lovely place to just sit and relax before the day. staff were lovely and food and pricing was bang on.

Such a great hidden gem! Having walked past this many times we went in and were very pleased with how it turned out. We got two breakfast sandwiches both were made efficiently and also tastily. Their drinks are also great. Will definitely come back here again.

Wasn't far from our hotel Motel One so we decided to visit Blakes for Breakfast. We had the full English and a Breakfast wrap food was ok nothing special. Find an empty table when you arrive. Go to the counter to order and pay for your food which is then delivery to your table cheap and cheerful. no issues!!

Talk about hiding in plain sight! What a gem! Fab breakfast. It was busy, and you end up sharing tables, which was great because people are chatty! Great service. Staff are lovely. Highly recommended! Take your tribe!
