Dreadful quality and service. Frome’s very own Dignitas - eat here for 3 months and the grease will stop your heart to order. Food is so greasy, order wrong, tinny radio music excruciating and a veggie breakfast £11. AVOID!!!

I took lunch at the Market Cross Cafe in Frome in early December during a 1/2 day visit to the town. I ordered a standard all-day breakfast which was amazing value at £4.99 including a cup of tea. Plenty of other food is also available, all traditional English fare and all at bargain prices. You order and pay at the counter and the food is bought to your table - the drink is prepared first for you. The service and food were excellent. Note that this cafe is on two levels so you can't take prams up the 4 steps to the higher level. There is a small but clean toilet but it does lack a mirror. This cafe has a 5* 'scores on the doors' hygiene rating. Summary - not pretentious but a bargain place to eat in Frome.

This cafe reminded of the transport cafes I used to frequent in the sixties - I don't say that as a complaint just nostalgia. The food is low-priced and unadventurous, quite a contrast from the more trendy eating places which have become the norm. I only saw one member of staff, a very jolly lady who seemed to be working very hard.

Bacon and ham, cheese omelette. Fluffy yet solid, perfectly made by with care, a mouth watering meal with lovely friendly service, not too cheap but not too expensive, a yin and yang of British cuisine.

Called in just for breakfast greeted by a lovely Lady I think she was the owner very chatty and friendly I wish we were greeted more like this. We had 2 full breakfasts we got them within 10 minutes of arriving basic breakfast but good for the price couldn't really expect any more! Best bit was not a child in sight !

All I can really say is how expensive this place is It’s your typical greasy spoon cafe but very over priced You really are looking at around £7 for a meal which for this type of place is too much There are better places to go for the same amount

Food is over price considering it's the cheapest you can get and it's 70% greas I also Thought it was a family cafe until the lady that owns it (that was the most disgustingly rude lady I've ever came across) complained about the little ones being to load and getting up out there seats, both under 4y All the other staff are lovely and all deserve a tip for being so polite and putting up with her I will NOT be going back!!

If this review was just on location, it would be 5* all the way - sit in the window and you have the best view of Frome Market Place. That said, this is your typical classic cafe that hasn't found its way into this decade but that is part of its attraction. We went there for the full English breakfast and it is what it is - quite decent quality meat and decent fried bread. The 'free' cup of tea is a tea bag dropped into a cup and help yourself to milk! If you go for the basic breakfast, it is probably the best value in town but if you upgrade, you are approaching the price of other cafes in town who will serve frothy coffee!

Will NEVER be visiting this Café again, popped in last week for their classic ‘English Breakfast’. However I was seriously disappointed with the quality of the food, most of it seems to have been just taken out of the microwave as most of it was piping hot. The lady serving didn’t seem to speak very good English either as I wasn’t able to understand her.

A bit old fashioned, a throwback to greasy spoon cafés of the 1970s. But a nice throwback in these days of standardised chains. Queue up and order, the chef brings it to your table.

Had a few hours to kill in the town and the kids with me were peckish. so decided to try this cafe as cheap bite to eat.Poor quality food is the order. From very cheap bread on the toast, vending machine coffee and poor service. They guy forgot my coffee in my order had to pay twice. They are cash only so had to dash across the road. The full English was cheap canteen food, the portion size was poor especially as I didn't have eggs. The fruit in the bowl was stale and off!The only smile in the place was the young waitresse the young man was rude and disrespectful and I won't come back just cause of him but the bad food makes it certainly miss I future.Price point was low, so you get what you pay for but not my standard... I have low standards but this scrapes the bottom. The décor is 1960's and not pram or wheelchair friendly. The loos were not very nice either.

It's raining. It's early (08.30) and most places are shut. But not the Market Cross Cafe on a Saturday morning. The door is open and you just can't resist the warmth. And you won't be able to resist the breakfast. There are two options - a smaller one for £5.50 and the 'luxury' (which I had) for £7.99.Look - just go for it. Really good value, quick service, clean place, choice of sausage, toast/fried bread, tea/coffee.Recommended wholeheartedly!

I took my grandchildren (aged 2 and 4) here for lunch. It served basic, traditional British food, and the kids loved it. They had egg, beans and white toast, and ate it all (nearly all, the helpings were generous). The table is wipe clean, and the floor is wipe clean, so I wasn't worried about them dropping things. There were good quality toys to entertain them, and the food was hot and served quickly. My daughter and I had baked jacket potatoes, which were perfectly OK.The place is much larger inside than I'd imagined - a bit of a Tardis, so there is plenty of room. The staff were amenable, and the price was reasonable. So while it isn't for foodies, it's probably the best place in Frome for small people, those on a budget and anyone who wants a full English. Frankly I liked it a lot more than I expected to.

Straight forward menu, the only things missing from the menu were the drinks.2 toasted sandwiches, 1 cold sandwich, 2 hot drinks and a can came to £15.07.

Having travelled 150 miles we a party of five wanted to have some lunch/brunch before going to our holiday accommodation.. Having spotted the café we thought perfect two of us wanted a good British fry up. Two female staff one on griddle other leaning against the wall no one waiting to be served, our young child wanted ham, egg and chips the lady leaning on the wall said we only do that in an adult meal at £7.99 ( bit expensive for a café I thought ) we said you do a child's egg and chips could we have that please with a slice of ham " oh no we can't do that it's not on the menu we could only do it if you paid £ 2 65 for a slice of ham " this takes the price back up to £7.99 had a quick look round for the hidden camera thinking this is a joke, it wasn't. We just looked at each other then left I would love to know who owns this establishment they need to know their staff are letting them down, I have worked as a Market Trader using the local cafe's, never in my experience have come across such unhelpful job worth's. We ended up going to La Strada complete opposite friendly helpful staff with very good food although not the fry up we fancied.
