Helpful friendly staff. Grand daughter enjoyed the children's menu. I really enjoyed the fish and the dessert. Relaxed atmosphere and easy parking near the petrol station.

We booked for Father’s Day and our experience was exceptional throughout. We felt very welcome, even with two noisy children, and the service was excellent. The food was amazing, even our fussy kids both said it was the best food they’ve eaten and asked us to book again. The restaurant felt warm and inviting and I have to give a special mention to Emma who organised two desserts for us that weren’t on the menu. We’ll definitely be back.

So much better than my visit last year. Decided to give The Maple a try for Fathers Day meal and nothing disappointed us. We had a Trio of Roasts which was delightful and my husband had The Burger which looked amazing. Kids had roast and Chicken bite meals and now both of them have asked if we can go back every night this week… 🤣 Service was wonderful, every body was so happy to be there even though they were so busy and the food was brilliant. So glad I gave it another try. Great, honest food, cooked well with brilliant service. Couldn’t ask for anything more.

. Well! Goodness me. What a great find. My husband saw an advertisement online and thought it worth a visit - albeit a 12-mile drive and we’re surrounded by numerous great eateries. Always good to try something new though, and so off we went for Sunday lunch (having booked online - very efficient). And what a fabulous Sunday lunch it was! Three of us, and we all had a different starter and each one was delicious and inventive. Two then followed with the trio of meats whereas I had the sirloin of beef (we wouldn’t leave the house for any cut other than sirloin or rib - not interested in the cheaper topside joint unless for a pot roast). Lovely vegetables, big crispy Yorkshires, great potatoes (we do love our roasters so ordered an extra portion of potatoes but quite honestly we found we didn’t really need them - but we did eat them anyway!). The gravy was great too. We don’t usually have a pudding, preferring to just have an ice-cream cone for supper back home later, but were tempted by the ones we saw being served at other tables. So two Banoffi Pies and an Elton Mess later, we staggered to the car to drive home. So full. So happy! The restaurant is light and bright, the tableware is excellent (including the cutlery - nice and heavy), the chairs are comfortable and the food was ALL 5*. Not one thing to have the slightest moan about. And, to top it all, the staff were absolutely lovely. Totally brilliant. Polite, Professional, Efficient and friendly. £120:00 total for the 3-course lunch for three people and three drinks (two alcoholic, one non). We’ll be back. Highly recommended. Well done to all. .

We had a lovely lunch, last Thursday, it was hot, well presented and a beautiful burger, also my partner had skate wings amazing, well worth a visit. We were sat by the kitchen, what a happy crowd of people especially the lady, who was very busy mashing potato. This is not our first time at the Maple and will certainly not be our last.

Over priced and poor quality muscles, many cracked and empty, small, full of grit, sauce not great. No atmosphere. Would not return. Cannot believe your muscles came from Conscious Fish as purchase them regularly.

It was alright. The vegetable soup was ok, but too many parnips. Parsnip Soup would have been a better label. The chicken supreme was not, just chicken with a bit of sausage in a tasty gravy, not the normal chicken supreme you’d expect. The mashed potato with leeks was just that, with two mini chewy leeks on top of normal mashed potato and the hot smoked carrots were completely missing from my plate. The valentine profiterole desert was to-die for and the only saving grace for me personally. Sometimes the menu write up paints a picture the plate doesn’t live up to. Everyone else said their food was ok. As with all things, it was an experience but, sadly, for all of us, one we won’t be repeating.

This was my second visit, disappointing both times. Very over priced, small portions. Brisket donuts were burnt, £8, pork belly was tough as old boots -£21!! Plus the food arrived barely warm. Bits missing from lots of our order too. Gutted as it was a birthday treat.

We went out for lunch with our 18 month old and asked for our food to come out after his so we could get him fed and it meant we weren’t eating cold meals after the baby was happy, we were told that would be fine, but all of our food turned up at the same time for the waitress to then say what all the food was ready. How do you expect us to be able to cook a different speeds? Other than the rude encounter we made do with eating our food which was nice

My husband and I tried The Maple for the first time and regrettably booked their Burns Night menu for our 5th Wedding Anniversary. The scallops for starters were cold and slightly raw in the middle. The potatoes that came with the venison were supposed to be confit, however they were rock hard and raw. We mentioned this to the waitress and she said she would pass it on to the chef. Apart from the shocking presentation, the panna cotta was really tasty. Once we had finished, the waitress asked us if everything else was okay and said "apart from the potatoes which weren't to your table's liking". It was a shockingly rude comment. You can see from the photo that the potatoes were raw. We mentioned the rude comment to another waitress and she apologied. At one point, we looked over and there was a waitress talking to her colleague and pointing at as. Overall I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy. Safe to say we won't be eating here again.

Booked for Sunday lunch. Was not disappointed, the staff were fantastic from start to finish being both attentive and informative. It was busy but service didn't never faulted, organisation and training of the team is great. Now for the food - outstanding. Food came fast, it was hot, tasted great and beautifully presented. Hats off to the manager, head chef and the staff. Great spot

The menu for lunch was limited. There were no sandwiches or salad as The Maple had previously served. My friends burger was fine. My ploughman was not. Cheese has been cut with a knife which had cut other cheeses, blue cheese I think. Chutney was horrible. Ham was near the end of its life. No salad or coleslaw. A very disappointing lunch with some that had to be spat out.

Pretty poor all round. The burger was more a large meat ball than a burger, making it impossibly tall to eat as a burger and the mince in the middle was raw. They knocked £6 off the bill for that but it still left us paying £10 for a raw ball of mince, a slice of bacon and some salad in a bun. We ordered the brisket donut starter, which was a strangely sweet item filled with a small amount of meat and, bizarrely, covered in popping candy! The cooking here wasn’t very good and it’s quite expensive so the cost doesn’t justify the quality. You could buy about three Big Mac meals for the cost of the burger and they will be nicer to eat.

Popped in here on route home from Cadbury Garden Centre. Really nice decor, parking outside and really easy to get to. Came with my partner and had the following: Mains: Pork Belly - really tasty pork. Nice crackling and lovely toasted carrots. Potato was lovely thin crispy layers. Very sweet cider glaze. Fish and Chips - huge portion! Really nice piece of fish in batter (slightly overcooked batter but wasn’t an issue) and a battered sausage. Come with a picked onion, mushy peas, (amazing) curry sauce and really well seasoned fries. Desserts: Cheese board - lovely selection, great portions and comes with chutney and a shot of port. Slightly overpriced at £14. Toffee apple crumble - not really a crumble and slightly disappointed. Not enough crumble on top so was more like stewed apples and oats. But still fine. Drinks: Lime and mango cooler - really nice and well priced. Mock mojito - overpriced (£9) for a non-alcoholic drink but was yummy. Overall, a really lovely meal. Come to £78. So slightly on the higher side for stopping for lunch. But would definitely return!

My friend and I had lunch here today. Brand new menu as of today. Very exciting. I had the Cod Goujon sandwich. O. M. G it was fantastic. Why? It was not traditional Goujons it was more mini fillets of cod. One inside on top of a layer of chunky chips. Then tartare sauce spread directly on the two slices of sour dough bread. Then another cod fillet skewered on top with a roasted half of lemon. I have never had roasted lemon before but the flavour was more intense than when left raw. The flesh oozed out onto the fish and was just sensational. The tartare sauce was so flavoursome too. The sourdough was toasted and went really well with the dish. It is a fraud sandwich though because you cannot pick it up. I ate mine with a knife and fork. The staff said initially it had 3 pieces of cod🫣 Way too much🤣 I congratulate you Chef. Excellent 'sandwich'.

I recently attended the Basic Ferments and Global Ferments courses run by Rachel De Thample at River Cottage HQ on consecutive days, and both were absolutely fantastic. Rachel is an excellent teacher—knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about fermentation. Each course was packed with information and hands-on opportunities, and I came away with a solid understanding of the techniques, plenty of inspiration, and confidence to try more at home. The sessions were well-structured, with a great balance between learning the science behind fermentation and the practical steps for creating delicious ferments. I especially appreciated the range of recipes we explored, from classic basics to more adventurous global flavors. I’ve brought several ferments home and can’t wait to taste them once they’re ready. These courses have truly transformed how I think about fermented foods, and I’d recommend them to anyone interested in exploring this fascinating and rewarding area of cooking. A big thank you to Rachel and the River Cottage team (including Sean for chauffeuring) for such an enjoyable and educational experience!
