This is a very nice hotel which, in my view, is ruined by its policy of being “ dog friendly.” The rooms are nicely furnished , the food is good, the location is superb but there are lots of dogs everywhere except the restaurant. Why do dog lovers expect the rest of us o love their slobbering pets? Most of the staff were lovely but one barman ruined an overpriced g ‘n t by pouring a whole bottle of tonic into the gin.

We tried to telephone the hotel to make a booking for a late Sunday lunch in the bar, for around 5.30pm, after 3 attempts to phone with no reply, it was late afternoon so we decided to visit the bar anyway. We were told in no uncertain terms that we couldn't be fitted in the bar as every table was booked, although the bar was empty. There was no suggestion of finding a table for us that wasn't booked until around 7ish so we could have a roast and then vacate the table by this time, this would've been perfectly acceptable, staff were very unhelpful, and the barman actually said to us that unless we were staying at the hotel there would not be a table for us. Local people are obviously not welcome at this establishment and we were made to feel unwelcome in asking for a table in the first place! We were planning to bring our family for an evening meal to the Manor, we will now be looking for an alternative establishment where locals are made to feel welcome.

Two couple, stayed three nights for a Birthday celebration. Staff were without exception brilliant. Food was very good, the hotel has recently had a makeover and is very smart. We had The Mulberry Suite, a shared lounge between our two rooms. The rooms were on the small side and our room had what I can only describe as a broom cupboard under the eaves but purported to be a wardrobe... Apart from that, a great few days.

Imagine overlooking the famous Blakeney marshes from the bar of the Blakeney Manor Hotel, preparing to tuck into your monkfish and samphire dinner, to hear the loud slurping of the dog belonging to the table next to you, eating it’s dinner. Gross. I almost left there and then. I get that the hotel is targeting the dog owners who frequent the area, but it needs to be more transparent about the fact that it is doing that to the detriment of anyone with basic expectations of customer service standards. The hotel mixes this strangely ‘relaxed’ approach to matters canine with an incongruously officious vibe. Service ranges from pinched to outright hostile. There was one member of staff who was helpful and friendly, for which, thank you. But I would urge anyone with a balanced approach to life to think twice about coming here - to eat, at least.

A beautiful hotel with some great staff let down by an inadequate chef The menu itself is amazing which is why we booked. However the chef was short on seasoning, mains were Luke warm and pigeon and duck over cooked and dry. Went away feeling very disappointed I’d also agree with previous reviews that the no cash policy is ridiculous and lazy.

The meal started very well with delicious starters and a nice wine, served in pleasant surroundings. But after a wait of 45 minutes we were told the order for our main courses had not gone through to the kitchen. All 4 of us had ordered halibut. It looked as if 2 small portions had been divided between 4 plates. The fish was served with a large quantity of clams and samphire on top of a small mound of potatoes. Everything apart from the fish was swimming in a lake of what looked and tasted like dishwater. As a dish costing £29.95 it was completely unacceptable. With an agreed 25% reduction in the bill we still paid £145 for a very poor experience. We cancelled the table we had booked for another evening and will not be back.

The hotel looks good on the outside. A good car park and an outdoor seating area where dogs are welcome. No service outside, you have to find the bar to order drinks and then take a menu back outside to decide on food then return to the bar to order food, eventually once the staff can be bothered with you. Dishes from previous table users were left and only removed by asking staff who were walking by empty-handed and ignoring them. The food arrived and was very poor. Eggs Benedict with the egg undercooked and the bacon poor quality and not fully cooked. The Thai pancakes were small but tasty. The squid was straight from the freezer coated in batter. Best was the broccoli and peas at £4 for a small dish. Add two glasses of wine and two pints of low-alcohol beer and the bill was close to £70. I spoke to the restaurant manager, once he could draw his eyes away from a screen. He was rudely uninterested in what I was saying and gave me a sarcastic 'goodbye'. No return trip is planned.

We recently stayed for 2 nights at the newly refurbished Manor Hotel and enjoyed our short break in Blakeney. The hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard with beautiful furnishings and fabrics, furniture, bathrooms, cushions, pictures etc and the place looks wonderful. The staff were still finding their feet a little, and seemed to lack guidance. Service was haphazard and a little lacking but the overall experience was lovely. highlights included cokmplimentary tea and coffee in the bar on arrival whilst the receptionist checked to see if our room was ready; Tiptree shortbread, handmade chocolates, Teapig teas, Nespresso machine and sleep spray on the pillow in both rooms. Dogs allowed (not in restaurant but we ate in the bar) and welcomed, lovely breakfast menu, all freshly cooked, well stocked bar and dinner menu. lovely position overlooking the harbour at Blakeney with lots of ourdoor furiture to enjoy the sunshine.

Me and my partner booked in for a lunchtime meal at this hotel, we arrived at 1:50pm at the end of lunch but we got our order in with time to spare over the phone before we arrived. I ordered the burger off the menu which sounded nice but when it arrived it was over cooked, practically burnt. I was unable to send the burger back as the kitchen had now shut, the food felt very rushed so they could close the kitchen in time, which I feel was unacceptable! We also were kept waiting a long time for any drinks we ordered even though we were only one of two tables in the restaurant, only receiving these drinks after reminding the members of staff that we had ordered. All of this is very disappointing as the burger itself was £18 and the whole meal for me and my partner came to over £100. To conclude, unless they improve their standards I will not be returning as it felt like a waste of our money.

Recently I took my very elderly dad for a day out - he loves the Norfolk Coast - and having popped in a few weeks earlier I decided to take him for lunch at the Manor in Blakeney. The premises are all more of less on one level with good parking on site, which made it was an ideal spot for someone of limited mobility and with its view out over the salt marshes, it is a great place for a spot of lunch. We ate in the bar. The service was excellent - the staff friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. There were a nice selection of specials on the board as well as a good core menu. I had the crab salad with new potatoes from the specials' board and my dad had the scampi and chips from the main menu. Everything that was was meant to be hot was piping hot and very tasty - the crab was fabulous - and my dad, whose appetite has been a bit off, polished off everything except for the salad garnish! We were both impressed by the friendly attitude of the staff.

Well below acceptable standards, decorated like something from the early 70's, boring magnolia walls, cracked ceilings, flush doors which didn't close properly.Bathroom was a total joke....as you entered you were faced with a toilet above which was a badly chipped glass shelf stocked with 4 "shower gels" and two soaps. The bath/shower was at the other end of the room about 8ft away, the basin was half way between the bathe and the door, both were ideally situated for the shelf above the toilet I'm sure you will agree!! The shower only stayed hot if you were prepared to have a "kneel down" shower because if you stood upright the water didn't stay hot above the height of your thigh due to lack of pressure. The people in the room abutting our room were not at all noisy but we could hear every thing they did in their bathroom to the point that if they moved in the metal bath we could hear them make the bath squeak, we could hear when they turned the tap on, flushed the toilet etc. The room was positioned beside a road, neither of the windows, which were on the road side of the room, were double glazed so traffic noise was disturbing. The paint was flaking badly from the front door and generally the room was well below standards expected today. Our stay was not worth what we paid and we wouldn't stay there again or recommend it to anyone. Very disappointing. Breakfast was acceptable.

We were not staying here but that was not a problem as its open to non residents. The bar staff simply made us feel welcome asked us where we wanted to sit and explained how things were set up. We only wanted a bar meal but i belive the resaturant also does a la carte if wanted. But belive me for quality and value we were very impressed, ended up having 3 courses each but that was out of sheer greed on my part as I had the rack of BBQ spare ribs for main which was enough to appease the largest of appitites. The service was prompt without being rushed, food very good with plenty of choice, and with beer and wine came to under £65 which for the amount we had was brilliant. Coffee was served on a help yourself basis, all in all it is was a pleasent surprise and we will definatly return. It is always nice to find older places who seem to do things the correct way without being over the top. I get the feeling that the people who stay here come back on a regular basis and i can see why.

I, like most people now-a-days, am always on the look out for a gastro pub or boutique hotel with lots of Farrow and Ball paint, so I wasn’t rushing to this hotel... It looked a bit traditional for me, being a trendy urbanite. But over a weeks stay in Blakeney, it’s the place we have been most often. No other place has the same view of the amazing sunsets you get and it’s a really lovely place to hang out. All the staff I spoke with were really nice, better than your average. The menu in the bar is gloriously trad. Yes, they do do a good old fashioned Prawn Cocktail! We had a vegi burger, a curry, a huge lasagne and a chicken in blue cheese sauce and all were delicious. The chips we’re the best we’ve had in a week in Norfolk. Not exotic and not blow-your-mind, just lovely. It has a really great feel about the place. Very popular with dog owners & walkers & the hotel doesn't allow under 14s to stay, so there are (unlike other places) no unsupervised children running around late at night. A lovely patio\garden frontage to enjoy the marsh views & also a large garden off the conservatory. A nice garden is at the back for the bungalow rooms to enjoy. Ample parking in the courtyard & at the front. The hotel also has a webcam so you can view the latest weather\marsh view. Stay at the Manor-it's great.

we stayed at the hotel for three nights. The evening meal menu was was changed for each evening. There was an excellent choice of menu. The food was beautifully presented. The restaurant had wonderful views over the Estuary. The service in the restaurant was a little slow at times.

We popped in to see what the hotel was like and if we would like to eat there. It is pretty average, the food menu didn't grab us and the place had the atmosphere of a care home. Plus, the drinks were much more expensive that the White Horse, which is a far superior place to eat and drink.

Six of us stayed for three nights as we had done a year ago. Our (premium) room was excellent and the staff could not have been more attentive or helpful. Our Sunday night meal was a little disappointing (turkey from a catering pack?) but all other meals were agreed as good or very good. We would have liked a safely rail in the bath/shower but other than that our only moan would be that dogs are allowed in the carpeted bar area. That ensured that we didn't take any bar snacks although, happily, the weather permitted afternoon tea in the lovely garden. Overall, very good and we all plan to return next year.

Lovely Hotel, had a few beers most nights in the court yard.If we had choose to go in the bar with the dog,it would have been fine. Staff were really nice. Although we didn't eat here we did speak to a couple that did . They enjoyed their meal and said it was reasonably priced.May try it on our next visit to the area.

Went there for a lunch with family- the food was excellent, probably the best pub lunch I've had in a long time. Steak panini was delicious and the chips were perfect. Lovely walled garden out the back and very well looked after- would definitely recommend

Upon arrival we were the only people around at 6pm which can sometimes be worrying however, we got a drink and ordered food for myself, husband, and 10 and 6 yr old. Well the food arrived and it was delicious. We asked and paid for a kids dinner but I would have struggled to eat it. The food was fresh, well cooked and decent portions. After we had eaten in the bar we left walking past the main restaurant which was packed. Only staying in Blakeney for two nights but if we we're staying longer I would definitely go back.

Service was non existent. Food order to be placed at bar this was not advised, only by a small notice above bar. Starter soup was good as was whitebait .Steak & Kidney pudding was huge veg cold and mushy. Plates were not cleared at all, we were not offered a pudding or coffee. Eventually we had to go to reception to pay as no staff to be seen. It would have been so easy to abscond without paying. Would not visit again Fawlty Towers is alive & well !!

We have just taken a 3 night midweek break offered as a special winter deal, which included bed, breakfast & evening meal. What amazing value for money! This is a lovely hotel with really welcoming, efficient staff. Our rooms, situated in a pair in one of the courtyards, were large yet cosy and catered for all our needs. The dinner menu was different every evening and the service was great. Everything about the hotel was comfortable and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for anyone. We would stay here again regardless of whether or not there was a special offer and can't recommend Manor Hotel highly enough!

A welcoming large bar area where you can dine with the family dog; also an outside area where dogs are welcome in the nicer weather. Good food and I am told good beer.

This is somewhere to spend a wet afternoon after a bracing walk around Blakeney. Nothing fancy but the bar always has space and the drinks are not over-priced. Very dog friendly. Food is well portioned if straight-forward.

After a long and windy walk we went in for a hot drink. I can only assume that we were not that welcome as we were not ordering food. We all had a hot chocolate served by a guy who really seemed like he couldn't be bothered with us. I would have expected him to bring the order to our table but I ended up carrying them myself, one at a time, as I wasn't even offered a tray. There are many other places in Blakeney and I would certainly go somewhere else next time.

Fantastic location with bar area overlooking marshes. We had tea and scone.Pros - location; view; wheelchair friendly; dog friendly; charming staff; generous serving of butter, cream and jam with scone.Cons - would have preferred a warm scone and have had lighter; decor a bit tired and dated; unimpressive Christmas tree in bar.Ladies loo has steps (quite odd) though disabled well equipped. Hotel offers reasonably priced low season breaks. Looking at their Christmas menu the dishes seemed a bit unimaginative... prawn cocktail, melon starters for example. Nevertheless hotel probably worth a try. Location, view, staff and dog / mobility friendliness why rated as "very good" and not "average".

Returned again for the umpteenth time. We cannot find another place in Norfolk that gives such good value. The food is very tasty and well cooked and plentiful- and hot!!! The beds are comfortable and the rooms a good size. It is also very easy to leave the car at the hotel and walk for miles.

We ate here several times during another great week at Blakeney Timeshare. There's usually plenty of tables, with a good selection of food, plus specials from the blackboard. The staff are friendly & polite. What more do you want?

we had been recommended this restaurant, so was looking forward to it. sorry but very disappointed had a toasted turkey sandwich and chips with gravy, the turkey was a piece of very chewy cardboard (couldnt call it meat). the sandwich itself was very dry. when the young lady collected my plate she asked if all was well i said no it was dry she said there was gravy to dip it in. never dipped a sandwich in gravy before. not very helpful, shant be going again

Fish and chips served freshly cooked in a nice light batter. We treated ourselves to fish and chips here. It is on the pricey side for fish and chips but the staff and environment made it decent value. The views from the table were also nice, especially as it was a cold day. Toilets were nice and clean and hot water to wash and warm hands up. Good that we arrived at 12noon opening time as we could choose a table with a good view. It was busy when we visited. Overall will go again and again go early.

Down in Worstead on wee business trip, asked about possibility of lunch nearby and were directed to the White Lady. It was around 14:30 on a Sunday afternoon so expectations weren't too high (would have settled for a sandwich...). Friendly welcome, assured food would be no problem and we're given 3 menus! We're invited to sit anywhere we chose so opted for window seat in dining area to rear. We both opted for Sunday roast topside. Absolutely fantastic. Beef cooked to perfection, awesome roast potatoes and Yorkshire pud, came with glazed chantenay carrots, buttered green beans and zingy red cabbage, jug of lush gravy and topped of with dish of unctuous Cauliflower and cheese (each by the way). Thinking about making the 3 hour drive again just to have that experience again.
