Under new management- food is good and really nicely presented and tasty. The dining room is cosy and now dogs are allowed through the pub - not just in the back room. Would suggest booking - just to make sure you get in when you want. Plenty of onsite parking. I was with a group but food ordered consisted of French onion soup ; bread and oils; fish and chips; ham and leek pie and Dahl followed by sticky toffee pudding and meringue roulade- latte and Irish coffee and earl grey …. Lovely (the foods listed below are not on the menu we had tonight)

Revisited, now under new management, and always keen to support local businesses. Excellent welcome, and small but varied lunch menu available. Didn't wait long for a delicious Welsh rarebit and Fish & chips. Lovely dining room, attentive and cheerful service, and had a nice chat with the landlady. Felt well looked-after. Wish them every success. Will be back for sure for (what is becoming well-talked about locally) their renowned smash burger.

Went for a birthday lunch with family , seemed fairly busy, food and service were both great, I had a whole Sea Bass from the daily specials which was cooked perfectly and tasted great, the rarebit as a starter was also great. My wife had salt and pepper squid and her words “the food was lovely”. Keep it up guys ! It’s great to have an another good pub in the neighbourhood.

We loved it. Stopped off on a circular walk for lunch. We had the fish &chips and the ham, egg and chips. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. I had a very large piece of fish nicely perched (groan) on the chips. My other half said her ham was really good, like the ham she had grown up eating and enjoyed. The added bonus for me was a drink of well kept Brakspears bitter ….excellent. The service was very friendly and welcoming. Felt totally at home there, thanks to all the staff at the Maltsters!

Thought we'd try the Malsters Arms for lunch on the way to nearby Greys Court. It was every bit as good as all the five star reviews promised. A beautifully designed interior, traditional yet looking modern, clean, cosy and comfortable. The service was welcoming, friendly and efficient. Many pubs don't really cater for lunch, hoping you'll choose a 3 course meal from a vast menu instead. Here it's only a small menu for lunch, seemingly modest, but our scampi dish followed by a cheesecake was absolutely perfect and delicious. Following that we asked to see the evening menu which looked really good and we will definitely be returning for a full three courses.

The first time we have been back since it’s changed hands. Overall not a great experience which was disappointing. The service wasn’t great we didn’t get asked if we wanted anymore drinks throughout our meal, or even how our meal was. After trying to get someone’s attention we ended up asking for the bill. A young girl was very impatient with the elders at our table and proceeded to walk away shaking her head telling her colleagues that we they are “doing her head in”. Disgraceful. (If you’re going to speak rudely about your customers I suggest you say it when we can’t hear you. Was disappointed and walked away with feeling bitter about have to pay the high price for that kind of service.

Oh dear, decided to give it a try but unfortunately there is no flexibility at all here. As soon as we approached the bar we were told it was a half hour wait for food plus cooking time. That's fair enough if they are busy, but they did not look busy. We proceeded to order 5 meals off the menu and 1 meal from the garden fish and chip van. We were then told the fish and chips would arrive almost immediately. As we all wanted to eat together we requested that all the meals arrive at the same time. The staff told us that this would not be possible as its a working kitchen and would be way to confusing for the chef. I asked if the chef and chip van chef could communicate to bring all the meals together and the reply was that is not possible. We proceed to order to be told that the steak is only cooked one way rare. At this point we left without completing our order. Never had this sort of experience in a pub or restaurant. I was told that I don't know anything about a working kitchen and that maybe so but this place knows nothing about customer service. I live half a mile away and eat out a couple of times a week but it won't be here. The attitude verged on arrogance and rudeness. If they carry on like this it will go the same way as its done in the past.

Finally made it in after many hikes past it. I'll definitely be back again. The Sunday roast was simply the best I've had in my few years in England. We were a large group of 14, adults, children and dogs coming in from a nice country hike from Henley. All the food came out as it should, children first and then the adults, all within a few minutes of each other which is not always easy for such a large group. I had the mixed roast (lamb, pork, beef) and it was just delicious with the meats still perfectly cooked. The side vegetables were also perfectly seasoned and not overcooked. The staff were also very efficient, friendly and courteous. There's a lovely terrace and garden in the back with many tables. On a sunny day such as today it was a wonderful place to be with family and friends. For the children and the dogs there's plenty of empty fields and the quaint church next door to explore. Don't bother with the pictures showing strange things like the Stormtrooper mannikin as that was under previous owner. Its much more traditional country pub now with lovely traditional decor which is what you expect.

Have just had an excellent Sunday lunch at the Maltsters in Rotherfield Greys. Less than three minutes drive from Grey's Court it is a beautiful pub with a great garden. The roast was excellent. I went to The Maltsters for Sunday lunch with my daughters and grand-daughters. The service was so friendly. My four year old grand-daughter decided that she would like her own table (as four-year-olds sometimes do, apparently!) and the staff accommodated her by bringing a little coffee table next to us with a stool for her and a stool for her teddy bear. She had her food at the table and was even provided with paper and crayons. Talk about going above & beyond. very kind. Lovely Sunday lunch, all three of us opted for the Steak and Kidney Pie, which was tasty and beautifully cooked; pastry was just right, and the vegetables were perfectly cooked. We went to the Maltsters Arms on a Friday evening with friends. We had booked although it wasn't particularly busy and so this may not have been needed. The service was friendly and the menu extensive with a number of classic dishes which were all home cooked. We had the scotch egg, lamb kofta and whitebait to start with which were all very good (although a bit more dip with the whitebait and kofta would have been good)! We then had the fish & chips, scampi & chips, chicken kyiv and seafood linguine for mains all of which were very good and the chips were home made. Although we were quite full we managed some desserts including the apple & cherry crumble, sticky toffee pudding and lemon meringue pie which all went down well. The total bill came to approx £180 including a bottle of wine, 2 bitter shandies, a non alcoholic drink with service for the 4 of us. We would happily return.

Really nice warm individual atmosphere. Food was great and just what we needed before a long day the following. We overnight-ed in room 3 which had everything needed. I Managed to run an international meeting at 0600 so wifi was strong. Breakfast next day was really good and ready when we asked for it. Highly recommend The Fat Fox if you want to dodge the corporate bs and feel like a name not a number.

We decided on Sunday morning to try the Red Lion for lunch, and booked a table for 1330. We arrived and were met by efficient staff who were expecting us and offered us a choice of table. Drinks were ordered from a knowledgeable waiter and arrived quickly, mine being a very well-kept pint from tge local Amwell Springs brewery. We both chose beef from an extremely well thought-out menu which again arrived after only a short wait. The meat was beautifully cooked and presented on a large plate with very well cooked greens, carrots and a freshly-made Yorkshire puddings. Sides of cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes were excellent, probably the best roasties I've had, and the horseradish was similarly delicious. We both cleared our plates and the side dishes. Utterly gorgeous, go and see for yourself.

Great spot for a little family lunch. Sandwiches & cakes are delicious, nice surroundings & friendly staff. There’s also a box of books for kids to amuse themselves with. Not inexpensive but lovely for a treat.
