Very friendly service from the couple who run it. And this cafe serves the best panini in Abingdon. The panini are large, full of flavour, and accompanied by a well dressed side salad. The Americano coffee is also excellent (strong flavour and a generous size).

Didn't realise we were wandering in on their first day opening since covid and it was just brilliant. The owner is so lovely and couldn't have been more accomodating to us with two babies in tow to complicate matters! It was also lovely and cool on this ridiculously hot day. The chicken salad looked amazing and tasted even better. Some places just have a good vibe and this is definitely one of them. Will definitely be back!

A real little gem! It is such a rare treat to find a independent cafe these days in a high street filled with bug American chains I was so pleased to find The lounge cafe. The owners are so lovely and friendly the menu was great I found it hard to make a choice as there were so many lovely choices. If your looking for a really nice cafe and want to support local then give them a try you won't be disappointed!

Lovely place great food and very nice staff

Good place for coffee, cake, breakfast or lunch. I had a full English and just managed it, coffee is nice I poured the milk and the foam created a heart just how I felt. Owners very friendly too. Quiet place to sit and browse your paper, other coffee shops are too noisy and busy, expensive too.

Best cafe in Abingdon. Unostentatious, simple food served well. Try one of the salads. For lunch go after 12:30 or it will be full. Closes at 3.

Pleasant cafe, good food, it was a bit under staffed when I visited, the woman who was waiting on, was running backwards and forwards to the kitchen at top speed to try and keep the customers happy.

Service at the till was slow, person at the till did not have the intelligence to advise of lack of staff and over a 40min delay in service. Place is massively over priced for the quality of food seen being severed, food on the plates was not well presented. We watched two person sit drink a pint and eat there food and leave.10 minutes to get a coffee. Manager was not fussed or apologetic , we had a child with us upset. Never go there to put money into a business which has no time for you. Party size was 5 persons.

Love this little cafe that has a wide range of cakes, sandwiches and cooked lunches. Staff are warm and welcoming and I always enjoy coming here for a catch up with mum. Definitely recommend!

It is always a pleasure to go to The Lounge Cafe. The hosts are always welcoming and friendly. The food is delicious and prepared with care as are the hot drinks! The Lounge Cafe is nicely tucked away from the busy road. A perfect and quiet retreat to enjoy a moment of peace or read your favourite book over a lovely cup of coffee. I highly recommend visiting!

Such a gem of a place, always welcoming and always ready to accomodate the kids with great food!

I work nearby work nearby on occasion and will always make a point of popping in to Lounge Cafe for a coffee or their butter chicken salad. I have come to know and love the owners (Ma and Steve) over the course of 4 or 5 years. Whilst this style of restaurant and cooking may not appeal to the Michelin Restaurant Inspectors, and having eaten at a few three star establishments, I can honestly say that I get a warmer glow and satisfaction from eating here than anywhere else. They fill my belly and soul with happiness. I don't want to get too crazy, but beyond the basic nutrition that sustains life, food is also a cornerstone of family, identity and love. You're not going to get that from a minimum wage microwaver in your local gastropub but you will find it in buckets in this charming, beautiful gem. I must have had well in excess of 200 chicken salads over the years which sounds a bit mental, but it's that good! GO!

Two things occur to me having come to this cafe; firstly it is slightly back from the main thoroughfare and secondly, it reminded me of the old adage about never judging a book by its cover. I came here with my daughter and grandsons (who are regular visitors). The owner showed great kindness to my young grandsons who are learning how to behave well when eating out. There were things to keep them amused while we waited for our meals and the atmosphere was relaxed which took the pressure off us and enabled us to enjoy the location. The food was typical cafe style (lunch), thoroughly pleasant and attractively put together. The welcome from the owner was such that we would gladly come here again.

I take my in-laws here on a quite frequent basis and the place is always outstanding.Probably nothing very different on the menu but often the main on the specials board is different and very tasty. The specials board main is the dish I usually have. The Portuguese custard tarts as also very good.Nice friendly staff who always give a warm welcome to everybody.The place is closed for holidays from 27th August until 4th September.

We were walking around Abingdon trying to find a cafe lunch. All we need was a sandwich and a dink. The Lounge Cafe was just the place. The food and service were excellent.

Very pleasant, warm and cosy feel, nice and warm on a cold evening. Plenty of people there on a Friday evening. And board games to play.

Popped in for lunch today and had the most delicious mushroom soup I've ever eaten. Top marks to the chef! The ladies in there were also super friendly. Good homely honest food with great service.

Ordered two Panini's for take away and I must say they were lovely. Chorizo, cheese and tomato and a Chicken pesto one, both freshly made to order, the chorizo was my favourite. I will certainly use this cafe again for lunch. Service was very friendly indeed.

Nos pareció que el servicio y la comida/bebida, pero la decoración es un poco cansado. Personalmente me espera mas tienda en limpieza y calidad de la oferta, que era perfecto para mí.

Popped in here on a Monday lunchtime. Not busy at all. Sat down and a cheerful waitress sorted out the wobbly table. We chose our food and drinks and waited for the waitress to come back. She did not come back so I went to the counter and was told by the same waitress that she would be over in 2 mins. Eventually another waitress came and took our order. Then wandered off muttering that they would have problems because there were 2 families in for lunch. As we were not in a hurry we would have been happy with the drinks to start with. These never arrived. The miserable waitress was at the counter chatting to some people and making no attempt to get any drinks. We cancelled our food and left.

Have visited previously whilst working. The food is nice but I have been totally put off of going back again due to the consistantly miserable looking serving staff member. It costs nothing to smile and to try to be friendly. Shame as it could be so much nicer to visit.

No atmosphere, no ambience. Uncomfortable chairs and tables. Coffee very ordinary, toast stale and I paid extra for jam which turned out to be a tiny pre-packed single-serve of the flavour NOT of my choice. I really don't need to go back.

The Lounge Cafe is an unpretentious local restaurant that deserves to be better known and appreciated. It is well run by very pleasant people. The kitchen knows what it is doing, uses good quality and ingredients and brings out the best in them. The staff are competent and friendly and the prices are sensible. Every town needs a place like this and local people always know its worth. This is true of the oldest member of our family, who always comes here when she goes to town. Today she was there with her family for a meal for her Hundredth and our party of nine were well looked to and I think those who had not been here before were very agreeably surprised by how nice a place it is. The proprietors excelled themselves today, though, by giving our centenarian a card and flowers, which is the kind of reception you only get in a place like this. Treasure it, people.

Despite living in Abingdon for many years, I wasn't really aware of this place - thought it was just a little bakery and café. In fact it serves a good range of dishes all day, and apparently turns into a tapas restaurant on weekend evenings.We went for lunch - lovely hot vey well filled paninis with salad. Saw others with jacket potatoes and baguettes that looked good. Lovely coffee.Service was good and friendly. The place was full and, on arrival, the lady apologised that there might be a delay as they were short staffed, but we only waited a few minutes to order and the food came about 10 minutes later.My only gripe - the chairs are hard!Will definitely return.

We often go to the Lounge Cafe during the day as a family. Good choice of food. The specials can seem a bit dear. Very nice filter coffee and milkshakes for children. Quite good for a cooked breakfast although last week the sausages were below par so I will go for the vegetarian breakfast next time. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.

This cafe does tapas on Friday and Saturday evenings. The hosts are Spanish - which bodes well.The food was pretty authentic, reasonably priced and served in good time. There is a good range of dishes typical of tapas bars. The wine list was reasonable and the Rioja very well matched to the food. We spent £45 on dinner for 2 including a bottle of wine and 5 tapas dishes - we were full and enjoyed our meal.Its been a while since I lived in Abingdon and I wouldn't have expected to find a place such as this in Abingdon. I will visit again.

Often go for brunch/lunch here when we are in town with the kids and always enjoy it. Staff are pleasant and food is great.Have not been in the evening but they do advertise tapas so we must try it.

If you want to have fantastic tasty food at very affordable prices you should try the Lounge Cafe.They serve authentic Spanish tapas which were as good as any I have had in Spain.We asked for a recommendation on wine and were given an excellent bottle of Rioja for a very reasonable price.Try this place you won't be disappointed

This is a cafe during the week and at weekends, on a Friday & Saturday they open in the evening, to offer authentic spanish tapas nights. I have to say that the food was totaly fantastic, they have a menu of about 30 items, on regularly, and a few specials for that particular weekend, we had 8 dishes in total, ranging from mini pork kebabs (very tasty, and tender like fillet steak) meat balls, chicken, choritso, mini bell peppers, salmon skewers (delicious), bread with a lovely tomato dip, potatas bravas (yummy), everything was hot and prepared to order, and came out in dribs and drabs, a minute or 2 between each dish as it does in spain, so if you have no knowledge of tampas restaurants, this is normal, each dish is enough for two people, and the lovely thing with tapas, is that if you feel you have not had enough to satisfy you you can order more (you have pay for it of course)all of the dishes were hot and perfectly cooked, price wise between £3.50/7.00 per dish (7.00 was one of the special dishes) and they have a nice wine list, not huge but the wines on the list chosen wisely to go with the tapas dishes. My only criticism is the lighting could be better as it is quite bright, and makes it a bit un welcoming, if just two of you wanting a romantic evening, dont let that put you off, by the time we were eating and drinking, did not think any more about the lighting, on occassions they also have a spanish guitarist, which by all accounts gives a great ambience, they do have music (spanish) playing in the back ground most fridays and saturdays.we would with out doubt go back and recommend to our friends to try it, the staff were friendly, attentive, without being in your face, and such a nice alternative to indian , ,italian, or pizza.

A fabulous find on a weekend visit to Abingdon. We popped in for lunch and were so impressed by the freshness and presentation of simple meals that we went back for tapas in the evening. This was a memorable evening where we ate a huge variety of sumptuous dishes. The Loungse Cafe is a great place with staff that really care about their customers, food and wines. Highly recommended.

The waitress was rude the ambience was cold and we couldn't get out fast enough. We went to try out a different cafe as there is not much choice in Abingdon. The food was nice but the waitress was so rude that it ruined the whole experience. The children were not naughty ( no climbing around or breaking things) or loud just talking and giggling as children do. It felt like we were being watched just in case!!!Horrible

Visited there for lunch. Pleasant enough food in quite generous quantities. What I found surprising was how many of the customers seemed to regulars getting kisses and cuddles from the owners. Very friendly atmosphere and there seemed to be good provisions for young children.

I didn't appreciate having sea salt splattered over my fish and chips before being served to me. The fish was also quite hard. Local man but wont be going again. The coffee was fine

We had a lovely evening in the Lounge Cafe on Friday enjoying their lovely tapas selection with our friends.The four of us chose from a good selection of tapas dishes on the menus along with a couple of specials for the evening. A nice bottle of Spanish red wine, along with a couple of Spanish beers, with Spanish people at the table next to us, and a Spanish owner from Madrid gave a continental flavour to the evening.Food was very good and plenty of it, with excellent advice from the staff on what to select.We would recommend this restuarant for the tapas evenings on Fridays or Saturdays.

Staff delightful - friendly atmosphere, relax with no fuss. I have been in and around Abingdon for the last six months, this is not just a quick passing judgement. Thursday and Friday evening tapas with good Rioja is another way you can enjoy this cafe.

This is a favourite lunchtime cafe for my parents, who enjoy great coffee and cakes and light snacks there on a regular basis, and I have now been for a few evening meals there where they offer an authentic Spanish tapas selection, which has been a delight each time. The dishes are intriguing, tasty and interesting, as indeed is the wine selection that includes some unusual, but very fine Galician wines (e.g. alberino, bioca) on the menu, as one of the owners is from that region. My father always enjoys the sea food specialities (the prawns are particularly well succulent), my mum enjoys the meat, cheese and salad choices and I enjoy the vegetarian options, which include a nice tortilla and sweet red peppers stuffed with a light, subtle goat's cheese filling, with a hint of apricot - but there's a very wide variety on offer. The desserts are great too, especially as they double as a patisserie during the day. I would say that all the dishes are very reasonably priced too and we always leave well fed and happy with the value of the food. The staff are very friendly and attentive and nothing is too much trouble for their customers, it seems. One other thing I love about the place is the decor: Mark Alger's photography exhibitions makes the place worth visiting even if you aren't hungry or thirsty! The only way the evening meal experience could be improved (according to my wife!) is if the lighting was turned down slightly, to make the place a little more intimate, but then I guess that wouldn't show off the pictures so well, so... All in all a great value restaurant and experience.

A relaxed cafe serving freshly prepared food to order with "service and a smile". The salads are delicious, generous and well dressed and varied enough to keep you coming back for more. There is a good selection of spanish ingredients on the menu thanks to the extremely friendly owners and so having something a bit different like a chorizo and cheese panini is a nice addition to more traditional offerings. On friday and saturday evenings only the restaurant opens serving a delicious tapas menu but it is well worth going out of your way to try this and its particularly fun sharing a bit of everything amongst friends. The wine list includes some interesting spanish wines which arent commonly offered in other restaurants so try something that is both different to the norm and also matches superbly with the food.

This cafe was recommended to me by a friend. I went there on Saturday morning for a coffee and a bite. I loved the American coffee they do. Nice proper filter coffee which you rarely get around now unless you go to Starbucks other than this every other cafe shop do an espresso and add hot water!! I also tried Spanish omelette which was yummy. The place is clean, bright and the decoration is very nice and simple. The staff was very professional and the service was prompt. I think I will be back again specially that they do Tapes night on Friday which I think worth trying with the good quality of omelette I tasted there.
