Four of us went for a preXmas lunch today and we can't speak too highly of our meal. The food was absolutely superb and our waiter, Jack, was very attentive and look after us so well. I've got to say that the Christmas pudding was the best I think I've ever had. We'll certainly be paying another visit soon.

Had a fabulous Christmas lunch today with colleagues. Food was of a high standard with interesting menu options. The service in particular was exceptional, all our needs were attended to promptly by our friendly waitress Em. I high recommend The Greyhound for a special lunch with friends.

Absolutely superb and I don’t say that often. The atmosphere, the service, the food. 5 of us thoroughly enjoyed our Xmas / Sunday roast. Couldn’t fault anything from the main or dessert. Incredible attentive staff and nothing too much trouble. I haven’t enjoyed a meal like this in quite a long time. Just book it!

Aunt loves to go to this gastropub. It’s got lots of tables inside and out but it’s very well run and the service is excellent. The day we went recently the place was packed with groups having their Christmas lunches. But apart from natural noisiness our food came fairly promptly. No doubt we’ll go again until The Fox gets its act together!

super slick gastro pub. someone liked that the date was on the menu. I liked samphire,spring onions,fennel and cods roe on my halibut.

My only complaint is that I'd like to have a choice of vegan options as opposed to one vegan option per course.

My partner and I had a lovely lunch here, the flavours were incredible of my goan curry and it was well cooked. My partner ordered steak and was cooked just how he liked it. Our server, Jack, was lovely, well mannered and attentative. Thank you.

We celebrated our sons 21st birthday on Thurs 7th November. Food amazing and Jack who served our table was great. Would definitely recommend.

This very popular country pub is an absolute delight; not to be missed if you are ever in the area.

Food is a bit overpriced for what you get. Steak was a bit tough but burger was juicy. Over £5 for not even a pint.

Really good food. Took a while to be served with our food, but it was delicious.

Food is nice but pricey. I had the cheese board which was £12.95 and definitely NOT worth the money. It was padded out with lots of bits and pieces but the cheese consisted of 3 tiny pieces. A sliver about 5mm thick which was also an end piece is a poor portion. I have never had a cheese board with less cheese on... Very disappointing.

Popped her after a half marathon. Food looked great. Nice space next to the fire , which wasn't on luckily. Service great. The food although plenty and looked appetizing was a little cold for our liking unfortunately.

Welcoming and friendly pub, popped in for a drink after a cold, afternoon standing on the sidelines watching a grassroots football game. Daniel, the barman was great fun, knowledgeable and charming. Highly recommend. Will be back to try the Sunday roast - the Yorkshires looked amazing!

Lovely first visit for lunch. Excellent (& huge) chicken burger. Service spot on & v friendly. So nice to see doggies in the other part of the premises Loved they had a basket of reading glasses for those who’d forgotten theirs 😂🤓

Been here many times but my worst experience this time. Extremely long wait. Macaroni cheese was a bit spicy which I’m not used to & the side salad looked lovely but the dressing had an unusual flavour & the salad was gritty. My friend had the chicken pappardelle & was surprised the chicken was on the bone for this type of meal. Sure I will return but disappointed this time.

A party of 7 on a busy Saturday lunchtime and The Greyhound still managed to keep a 5 star rating! Lovely food, attentive staff and great atmosphere- what more do we need!

We have visited The Greyhound for lunch 4 times over the past few months and each time the service and food have been excellent. There is a great choice of food which is well presented and always tasty. Highly recommended

We had Sunday lunch with 2 friends on 1st September - our friends had the roast beef which was described as "cooked pink" - most of it was extremely rare. I would not have served the french beans to anyone as they looked well beyond their best. When asked if we were enjoying our food I pointed both out, and demonstrated that I couldn't actually cut my beans. We were offered more, which were no improvement. I was told veg are served "al dente" (which I do understand!), however, both beans and cabbage would have benefited from a few minutes cooking! Definite drop in quality!

Very welcoming and warm. I've been here many times and it is consistently excellent. Special thanks to Alice and Owen who helped us today, our glasses were never empty and the food came out quickly. Very easy to park, there's always space in the overflow area if needed.

This was my first time dining at the Greyhound, and it was fantastic! Alice and Owen provided exceptional service, making our experience even more enjoyable. The staff were incredibly accommodating with our toddler, even bringing over a pack of colored pencils to keep them entertained. They had a variety of delicious foods for every palate, and everything was lovely. Plus, there’s a play area in the back for little ones, which was a perfect bonus!

Good food and service but the toilets required attention. Dropped in for lunch (no booking) showed us straight to a lovely table. Great service and food at a reasonable price. Will definitely visit again.

We visited very recently to use a voucher that had been given as a gift. We ate halloumi fries, calamari, sirloin steak, sticky toffee pudding and chocolate fondant. I visit regularly and the food choice and quality is great. The service is also excellent and friendly as shown by Shona who looked afer our table of 4 today. The choiceof beers is good too and I can thoroughtly recommend this pleasing pub for value as well. They provide a voucher incentive scheme which gives significant discounts on future meals too.

Went for lunch after seeing a recommendation on a coeliac forum. I was not disappointed. Since being diagnosed as coeliac 3yrs ago, I have not enjoyed a ‘pub’ lunch so much. The choice for gluten free food is very good and d the staff appeared confident in their understanding of catering for coeliacs. I had a feta salad to start which was so tasty and the lamb as main - superb. The choice of gluten free puddings were brownie (as always), cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding (which was delicious). All the ice creams were also gluten free. The pub was busy but there were plenty of staff around and all were lovely. Thank you for offering such a good ‘normal’ choice for gluten free - you made my day and I will definitely be back soon.

Only stopped for a snack and a drink. Fantastic atmosphere, I'll be stopping again.

Visited with my husband to meet my family as it's our halfway meeting point for lunch & we've been here a good 15 times over a good 10 or so years. Arrived, but as we were walking in, we were just glared at by 4 or 5 staff until I said "hello" (met with silence) "we've got a table booked" was OK after that unnecessarily awkward welcome, though, the other staff did sort of hang around a bit longer when they weren't needed.... Welcome score = 1 out of 5!! We were sat down & service was very good after that. Waitress service = 5 out of 5. Food was very nice & plated very neatly. 5 out of 5 Sat outside in their very nice garden for a coffee afterwards, very nice & relaxing- 5 out of 5. Overall score 4 out of 5, due to the initial awkward welcome. Hopefully this improves for our next visit.

Helpful friendly staff, and a lovely venue, but really the food was not great, we all ordered 4 different meals and starters; oven chips, reheated food etc, It was a very smooth operation as the food appeared fast, but you are getting mass catered food.

Lovely family meal for 10 people. Service was friendly, prompt and attentive, food was excellent, surrounds were comfortable ans stylish. Has a lovely garden as well and ample parking. Will come back.

This is the second time I have eaten here as it's a convenient half-way venue to meet up with an old friend. Not only it is a sort of Tardis inside as it's very spacious with several eating areas but it has a nice garden too. The service, food and overall ambience were first rate and I'll aim to eat here again soon.

Really enjoyed our dinner here. Seems more of a dining pub. The steak and ale pie was excellent.

Was recommended to go here from a work colleague. Was a lovely place, atmosphere was amazing and the food was the best quality i have had in a long time, full regards to the chefs. I highly recommend the roasts, amazing value for money and if you finish the chicken roast, fair play to you. I needed to take some of the chicken home. We also had dessert which was nice. My only negative is perhaps they are a little pricey but still delicious. Will definitely come back again.

This pub has been a long time staple favourite for our family. Fish and chips have always been great and burgers were good today. This time we were a bit disappointed. The fish called Lentil and sweet potato lasagne with fattoush salad in fact just had green salad. The issue I have is with misinformation- falsely labelling a product as “fattoush” salad when it was actually just plain green leaves, tomatoes; not fattoush at all. Why pretentiously label it as something else? Also not great from a legal point of view. I asked about the salad and the waitress (who was great) asked in the kitchen. I was offered to have a green salad with house dressing. Hmm….. not impressed. Overall quite expensive for what it was too

Lovely pub for an outdoor pint on a summer's evening

I drew the short straw out of the four of us. I had the belly pork, the same as one other and my crackling was soft and I had 75% fat. Not so for the other member of the party who had crispy cracking and barely any fat! I thought dishes served were supposed to be the same for each person. Disappointed!

Always a busy pub as on A420 so gets a lot of passing trade, nice garden, plenty of parking and food is good. Defo worth a visit if you are passing by. We sometimes go after my husbands cricket matches.

The experience Ive had at the Greyhound, has been amensley satisfying! Staff are always attentive,an very welcoming,it's definitely a 'ding - dang-do place too visit!

Thank you very much for making my 70th Birthday dinner so special. All of us had a great 👍 time.

No dogs in carpeted dining area. Food was " nice". The Bill with about 2 drinks a piece averaged out to 30 pounds per head.

We've passed here quite a few times before and decided to stop this time for lunch. Nice to see them open on a Monday and were a few others tables in. Good selection of drinks including 3 or 4 cask ales which is always good to see. Starters were good, the French onion soup was particularly good, chicken liver pate was equally delicious. Children's menu was fine, nice little burger and loads of garlic bread on a starter. Mains, the chilli beef salad was nicely spicy and well dressed. The aubergine and lentil moussaka was tasty but for a main course and was way too small for the price. We did feed this back at the time, rather than just say so in a review, and it was handled very well. Couple of icecreams for dessert and it was a job well done! Service was great, welcoming, responsive and friendly. A nice building and well maintained, we'd be happy to return or recommend to others. Family of 3, we spent just under £80 including a couple of small drinks and left very happy. Good job!!

Very good choice of Sunday roasts. Good hand pulled beers from local breweries.

Drinks arrived promptly. As party of four all meals arrived pretty much together. So all eat at the same time. The feedback of the table was all meals were very nice. One error on one desert quickly corrected. Staff were busy but they kept on top of the service, didn't get tunnel vision. A 🌟.

Excellent food and service despite it being extremely busy Sunday. Managed to accommodate 9 of us turning up unannounced. Sunday roasts are generous with all the trimmings and cooked to perfection. Great selection of ales and wine. They allow dogs in certain areas too. Definitely be going back there again. Went back last Sunday and again another cracking Sunday roast. Went in recently and still good food and service but why oh why put plastic flowers/plants on table. Its like a double whammy to our ecology and they don't look good. Please get rid. For that you lose a star.

I wish I lived closer. On our way home to Cornwall we stopped in for lunch. We cannot understand why more places cannot provide food of this standard with service to match. 20 out of 10 on the points front. Next time we're in that part of the country we'll make sure we confirm our first time impressions

First time at this pub, very welcoming and cosy feel. Outside there are kids swings and vintage tractor to play on. Beer was fresh and tasty and the king prawn tandoori on naan was yummy. Would recommend and definitely will be returning.

Was driving, when I came across there sign. Thought I would pop in and have a refreshing drink on a really nice sunny afternoon. Greeted by very friendly staff. What amazing clean, airy and spectacular garden with plenty of seating. Just wish I stayed for some food but sadly time was of the essence. The food looked outstanding when being brought out to tables. Will 100% be coming to visit and spend a little more time here. What an amazing find and very surprised on how much parking they have. 5* in my mind.

Went early Friday evening and, although it was busy we were served promptly and checked on regularly. Food was really good - I had the Tandoori Prawns to start, followed by Beef Feather with parmesan mash, proper lush 😋

Used location for a meeting with coffee. Very good service and atmosphere. Have used location a few times overy the years for meals etc. Very happy to recommend to anyone ans will use again in future.

We decided to choose the Greyhound for my partners birthday as we have always had good food and service before and we were not let down this time, We went on a Sunday and all had the Sunday Roast, These were so tasty and portions were really good, Service was excellent and staff were friendly and attentive, They even got my partner a birthday card and gave her some meal vouchers, We will definitely be returning, Thanks Greyhound, Phil & Sally

Dropped in without knowing anything about the place. The four of us were very impressed with the food, the setting, and the service. I will actually be driving back from Swindon, (a 45-minute drive) to eat here again with my partner.

Sunday roast is one of the best around.

A disappointing experience for me. A simple chicken roast dinner was poor. The bird was very dry, the Yorkshire pudding inedible and, worst of all, the whole meal was cold. The waitress offered to replace it but my partner was almost finished with her food so I didn’t want to be eating as she waited. We were offered free desserts, which we declined and then offered 6x£2 vouchers off another meal (Monday to Thursday excl. Bank Holidays) which were of no use so I just left them. My partner’s food was good, and this place was full, and I didn’t see anyone else complain so perhaps it was just my meal. Even so, we won’t rush back. We can get better food elsewhere.

Love this place. It was really quiet with just a few tables because it was mid day. I love all the pictures on the walls and all the old things to look at. Forgot to take pics this time.. .only remembered to take main meal! I had a gammon chop with colcannon mash and crispy black pudding and mustard sauce. It was absolutely delicious! Service was great. Lovely friendly bunch of people.

Beautiful meal, not an extensive menu which is good as you know food will be fresh and cooked to order. Not big portions and quite pricey. Nice relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant. Service good and attentive. No rush to leave table.

Great selection of drinks, food was great, perhaps a little more finesse to get 5 stars, reasonably priced. It is worth a visit if you are in the area. I don't know if you need to book in advance so it would be worth checking.
