Handy place to have some food and drink.

Mixed. Sometimes good but woe betide if your drink is late, sits on bar over 10mins, no apology.

Since covid-19 staffing has dropped off. Most times bars under pressure to serve. If you like coffee expect a queue.

Often go in here for a meal. Usually great and good value. Friday we had steak and chips, hubby had the 'gourmet version. The steaks were as tough as old boots. If we hadn't had a steak knife there is No way we could have eaten them. Full of gristle which they would have seen left on the plates. Chips were kiddies size and for the first time ever no one asked if our food was OK. Diet coke tasted like dr pepper. Will go in again but never have a steak again. Sad to post this.

I tried a pink gin and lemonade with a splash of bubble gum syrup. Delicious and the lady serving was friendly (can't recall her name).

Having spent a few days in Southsea, we have visited this wetherspoons and we have found the place to be very clean. The tables are cleared quickly bar is cleaned regularly. It is a well run Wetherspoons, well done to the Staff.

There is no doubting spoons great beer and great value but this spoons is a bit lifeless. I think it maybe that Southsea has so many great and characterful pubs with reasonable prices. There is a distinct lack of atmos in here in comparison, depends what you want I suppose.

One of the better J D Wetherspoon Pubs in Portsmouth. A decent atmosphere and pub was packed. Went in mid afternoon so we were able to get a table. One and only fault (which we found out later they knew about!) was that the Wetherspoon App did not work!! So after trying on several occasions to order we gave up. Had to go up to bar to order food. Huge queue.! Informed staff App was not working. Staff knew about this fact. So we think they should make public aware of this fact. Apparently it's not been working properly for sometime? Food was ok but could have been a bit warmer. Will visit again in future as used pub many times.

A member of our Party had never eaten an evening meal in a Wetherspoons before having been put off by a cold breakfast they'd been served at another venue. They were pleasantly surprised at the standard and quantity, so much so that we returned another night. Standard Wetherspoons venue, no pretty or spectacular building here. Toilet cubicles were large and clean. The food was usual standard Wetherspoons for the rest of us and we've had a few. Good food, hubby pleased the gammon and eggs are back on the menu, good value, it's usually the standard of service that sets each venue apart. Service here was very good, no complaints. However the lost star is for 2 things, sitting in the lower ceiling section it was far too hot and the WiFi reception was rubbish. Other than that everything else was great.

They have the best chicken wings and Chips, they are a must try. Staff is polite and cool. Leffe on tap is simply amazing.

Nice pub but the WiFi wasn't working so couldn't order on the app and the signal was rubbish. It was very busy but the service at the bar was pretty quick.

Been twice now, first time they left our order in the counter for 20 mins so we asked them to warm up, which they did. Good size restaurant, would take some doing to not get a table.

The Lord Palmerston is a Weatherspoon pub in Palmerston Road, Southsea, Portsmouth. It is very large, gets very busy as it’s popular. There are lots of tables and chairs inside and some outside the front. As usual there is a very large choice on the menus. All of the prices are reasonable and usually include drinks, alcoholic, soft drinks and teas or coffee at different prices. The food was delivered quickly and was hot.

Lovely boozer, had a Christmas night out with boys and although there's no music the atmosphere was great.

Went for lunch today and I can honestly say having eaten in alot of Spoons including this one a few times, today was the best meal I've had in a wetherspoons or other rival restaurants for a very long time. I had the festive chicken burger, it was delicious the whole meal was well cooked, presented and lovely and hot. The staff were all really nice, helpful, friendly and extremely hard working. Will be back.

The Lord Palmerston is such a beautiful Wetherspoons! It is very cosy and has a homely feel to it. The food is always great and the customer service is fantastic too.

Great vindaloo curry very tasty and spicy as other spoons. Nice bit of history plastered on the walls. Comfortable and well priced.

Beautiful restoration of an important building in Southsea. Wetherspoon have, as usual, done a great job to restore a historic look on the exterior and especially, the interior. Food was good standard and well presented. It arrived quickly too. A pleasant couple of hours in good company with friends, so we'll go again when we're in the area.

You can still get a pint for two quid here. What more could you want?

I've been in this bar a few times but this time I invited a friend who came over from India and he's never been in a pub before so why not, and he loved it,he said it's so large and lots of room, and he was sending videos back to friends and family lol

My breakfast would of been warmer if I had sat outside in the snow. Cold beans, egg and bacon. The only thing that helped was the free coffee. Explains the offer!

Being a Wetherspoons this place does what it says on the tin, but I might add the building and general Good order, lifts this particular site, the review is prompted by a very pleasant interaction with one particular person, Jay is a natural yet real to talk to and went beyond the usual company speak. I arrived early as was meeting friends and colleagues and had a lovely impromptu conversation and made the 'Palmy' all the more special and was put on a Good vibe, and this is something you are born with and cannot be pulled by training alone, bottom line Jay is an Asset to your business.

I don't mean this to sound rude, but for a wetherspoons, the staff in here are exceptional. Can't be easy to keep together such a strong core team in this industry and they consistently deal with both friendly and difficult customers in a great manner. Yes not every order is going to be perfect, but it's a spoons, the value and great staff make it a 5 star spoons experience.

We got value for money. Wetherspoons is never a cordon bleu experience but that's not we go for. We want decent food at decent prices and that's what we got in the Lord Palmerston. The staff were rushed off their feet but all were polite and friendly. The food was hot and tasty. If we lived nearer, we'd go again.

Portions looked smaller than usual. Typical wetherspoons. Rather dull and dark.sticky table.

I love the new refurb that has been done here makes the pub seem a lot more open and accessible instead of squeezing around every. Great place if you want to socialise, eat and drink without breaking the bank

The Lord Palmerston has recently been refurbished. Looking much nicer. The food and service are as good as ever.

Good clean pub friendly and helpful staff that were able to accommodate after running out of chocolate sauce

Good ales, friendly staff typical Wetherspoons, and nice décor recently refurbished new carpet etc made it more airy at the back with sky light and windows. Today, Irvine Brewery Iron Duke ale 5.3 abv £2.10 perfect pint why go anywhere else.

Mixed grill wasn't very good my husband had the Jacket Potato which came with no salad if he wanted salad he had to pay extra.

First time I've been here in a while, plus its the first time I've been here in a sober state. That's adulthood for you! Cheap beer, can't complain!

Went in for a mid-morning breakfast before my journey home. Enjoyed looking at the artwork hanging on the walls.

Had the gourmet steak and the chicken tikka masala, both were just naks. Not worth the money even with the included alcoholic drink.

It might not be the best in the world but it's affordable

As you'd expect from a Wetherspoons pub, it's cheap and cheerful with a wide variety of food and drinks for the whole family. Located a short walk from the seafront in Southsea so is ideal if you are visiting the attractions.

Popped in Saturday afternoon about 5 ish we ordered food only took about 15 min to get it. It was cheap and cheerful, you know what to expect with a weatherspoons, we had all been drinking all day so needed something to soak up the booze

Our order was disaster. They served 3 onion rings instead of 6 onion rings. The grilled chicken breast was not grilled.. it was boiled. They served our order with different sauce. Unfortunately the McDonald's is much better choice!

Typical weatherspoons in a building that could be a old fashioned cinema foyer, dark wood, mirrors and chandeliers. Plenty comfortable seats. Selection of standard beers and some guest ales. Under £2.50 a pint.
