After a busy week we decided to treat ourselves to dinner out. The Lord Combermere did not disappoint. We are a family of 4 and the staff were friendly and accommodating to us all. The children’s menu doubles as a colouring sheet which kept them busy whilst we looked at the menu. Our food came and was piping hot, absolutely delicious and very well presented. The portion sizes are very generous, especially the children’s, making it excellent value for money. Very attentive, helpful waitresses who advised us on which dishes were most popular etc. The dining area looks fantastic and had a lovely atmosphere. Can’t wait to return…

What a wonderful place to stumble upon, after our canal walk. Not often do you find an independent, and it showed - the staff couldn't be more friendly, professional and helpful 10/10. Local ales very good, along with the choice of wines 10/10. Menu had a fabulous choice. Allergies were checked before ordering food. We ate Gammon, egg, pineapple and chips (no ordinary chips - real home-made potato chunky ones!!). Vegetable Massaman curry with very tasty chicken breast on top. 10/10 Enjoying ourselves here, so we had to sample the desserts, sticky toffee pudding and Eton mess 10/10. If you are in Audlem please try this amazing gem, you won't be disappointed. Well done to the whole team, just wish we lived nearer!!

We were in Audlem for the weekend and visited The Lord Combermere twice and both visits were excellent. The staff (and locals) were really welcoming to us and our French Bulldog, Winnie. The food was superb; I would highly recommend the mushroom truffle bake for a starter and the slow roasted pork belly for a main. The Sunday lunch was fantastic with the meat sourced from the local butchers in the village. The food isn’t cheap but it’s not your standard ‘pub grub’ so we thought it was great value for money. A really lovely pub who deserve to do well.

I can’t recommend this pub enough. The staff are really helpful and the food is delicious. I had the seabass and my husband had fish and chips. Both were delicious. We will definitely be coming back.

Dear oh dear what has happened to the Lord Combermere! So very disappointing. Firstly there was no Steak and no Risotto available. Is this because the chef was not present? Firstly came the Prawn Cocktail….. where were the prawns? There were so few prawns and the lettuce was so tough and to top it all it was served in a tall stem glass with cold brittle toast on the side but no butter in sight. Mains consisted of a Pepperoni Pizza with ‘hand stretched’ dough & a side salad also a Steak & Ale Pie with chips & veg The chef must have a degree in symmetry as the Pizza was obviously manufactured perfectly round, tasteless probably the worst pizza I’ve ever had. As for the salad. Oh dear me what they served was shameful. The tough dark outer leaves and the yellow centre served with room temperature cucumber & halved cherry tomatoes drowned in some cheap Caesar type dressing, not French dressing as stated on the menu. Looked like it was made by a 12 year old. As for the Steak & Ale Pie also in my opinion out of the freezer. Short of meat just mush inside and the gravy they served with it was a different colour & consistency. Chips & veg poor and chips over cooked & covered in course salt This used to be a great place to eat and we drove 30 mins to get there. We were unaware there had been a change of ownership but should have realised as soon as we went in because it was quiet not the vibrant busy place it used to be In my opinion a total waste of money. I can’t think of one aspect of the experience that was even satisfactory.

Excellent. Great food lovely staff. There’s obviously been significant training of the staff here. Both the restaurant manager and her assistants were spot on. Cheerful, helpful and took the time to explain and recommend. Brilliant. Food was very good. I had the crispy Asian salad to start, right up my street. For a main I had the mushroom tagliatelle with chicken as an add on. It didn’t need the chicken, it was so delicious on its own. If there was some garlic bread on the menu I would probably had that instead. My wide had the Massaman curry with chicken. There wasn’t any left so I assume she really enjoyed it! No room for a dessert but will be on our list to visit again when we’re back up this way.

Last minute decision to go out for Sunday lunch and it did not disappoint. Warm and friendly atmosphere and the food was delicious (Roast beef, fish and chips and a pizza). Will definitely go again :)

An astonishingly brilliant luncheon experience - a lovely welcome and the best gourmet meal my wife and I have enjoyed so far this year. Well done you are five star in our book.

We popped in for a lunch on a lovely sunny day! The seabass was fabulous as was the fish finger sandwich (it’s actually goujons of fish battered). Fresh and delicious. Lovely atmosphere and not too busy. I think it was good value for money because it was good quality. Decent beer options. Friendly staff.

After having a very disappointing evening here a few months ago, we returned to see if the whole experience would be better this time. We were not disappointed. The service was great and the food was fantastic. My partner had the Barnsley Lamb Chop and I had the Sea Bass. As a non meat eater, I often choose Sea Bass, this was by far the best I’ve had for ages. Both dishes were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Our compliments go to the Chef. We will definitely go back again, especially having family in Audlem and we live quite local ourselves.

So lovely to have The Lord Combermere back again! Great atmosphere, delicious food and wine/beer with exceptional service from all the staff! We thoroughly enjoy going in for a drink or two (and sometimes more) as the bar staff, Jay and Zac are fantastic, entertaining and make us laugh…..a real credit to the pub!

Great local pub. Much improved since the new ownership with a fantastic beer selection. Not had any food yet but the bar service has been excellent. Especially Jay who has made us feel really welcome and makes it a really friendly atmosphere. Thanks guys

This pub has been recently taken on by a new team who clearly know what they’re doing. We’ve been in for drinks and received a warm welcome, and also popped in for Sunday lunch last weekend, which was absolutely delicious, and the service was excellent. Would highly recommend.

We have been a few times now since the ownership has changed but this time we tried out the food and my word it was yummy to say the least!! We had the fried mushrooms aswell as some scotch eggs and some sort of Duck combo, we didn't manage to get a table for Sunday dinner but we will almost certainly be back for one soon!! Compliments to the Chef and J behind the bar who had my grandmother in stitches from start to finish and a brilliant personality just what the place needs! Thanks again and see you all soon!!

Absolutely deserted inside when we arrived, alarm bells ringing were about right!!! We'd heard this pub had deteriorated in recent months. Having visited before a couple of years back, we thought we'd try it again. What a mistake. No steaks and only two draft beers available!!! They don't cater for dietary needs either - the only gluten free option was fish and chips. So risotto, Cesar salad or satays were not gluten-free?!?! This suggests nothing is made from scratch and is all bought in and heated up. Staff weren't in the slightest bit bothered that we decided to go elsewhere (The Shroppie Fly which did cater and was very nice). Really disappointed to see what was a very nice pub go so downhill.

I had the risotto. It was the best risotto I have ever had. Freshly made. Better than any Italian restaurant I have ever been too. 10 out of 10 to the chef.

Just tried the Food at the Lord Combermere for the first time since new owners took over and cannot fault it. My wife and I went in for steak night on a Tuesday, 2 10oz Rump steaks and a bottle of decent quality wine for £30, excellent value. The honey and mustard glazed sausages starter was delicious as was the steak with all the trimmings. I couldn’t manage a dessert I was so full! The service was excellent and Ryan the manager explained the reason why the site on Trip Advisor is saying permanently closed is because he’s waiting for admin rights to TA to be transferred to him. I live in Audlem and it would be great to see this pub as busy as it used to be, give it a try Audlem folk, I certainly wasn’t disappointed.

Hadn’t been to The Lord Combermere to eat since the brilliant Jo and Allan sold up. Thought we would give it a try again under the new management, following the second closure in as many years. The manager, Ryan, who was very friendly and helpful, took our order and served up our food. Although the pub was quiet our order did take a little while to prepare, but Ryan kept us informed of progress and on arrival it was well presented, hot, tasty and we had no complaints. He did explain that it was early days, he was still recruiting staff and that they did have a few hiccups over the weekend during the village’s Festival of Transport. We will be back and trust that it will again be supported by locals and visitors alike, as we wouldn’t like to see yet another pub converted into flats. If you don’t use it, you lose it.

Very disappointed today with the service from The Lord Combermere. Drove out of town today as we fancied a treat and never had a bad meal at this restaurant previously. We arrived at 12:20pm and were soon seated (it wasn’t busy at all considering the transport festival that was going on). There was another couple in the restaurant. We ordered our food and waited. About 10/15 minutes later the waiter said that one of the items on the menu wasn’t available. My friend made another choice and then we waited again . After a further wait he then told me my main wasn’t available, so I made another selection. Our starters came out after a good 30/40 minutes. My starter was incorrect but the waiter just left it on the table. No apologies from the waiter who went off to deal with something else. To be honest he didn’t seem confident or have any experience waiting tables. He was on his own and we both did feel very sorry for him. I then went up to the bar to ask for mayonnaise when I spotted the manager. I told him the situation and he apologised, he went on to say they were two staff members down and had a back log of orders. I understand this can happen so I continued to wait. I then waited for my prawn cocktail for nearly an hour and it never arrived. The waiter didn’t have a clue was he was doing as more people came to sit down and he continued to take their orders. It was a disaster so we both walked out. Spoke to the manager on the way out who said “just bounce” I had eaten no food all day but two soft drinks. They should have just said no food today if they were struggling. They have damaged a reputation. We were very disappointed.

Having been previously,- hard to believe its the same pub.Barely any customers in and even less staff sadly,! To be honest no surprised the staff hadn't presented for work.Came for dinner and waited a while to be served. Ordered wine and told no Chardonnay - to be fair was given a different wine at the same price.Cutlery on the table was dirty and I returned it to the waiter who was also doing the cooking. Clearly understaffed and soon became apparent why. My food was sadly tasteless - again the waiter/cook apologised and offered an alternative. The other dish my companion had ordered did not look appetising either. The only other table in the restaurant - a table of six - were also booked in at 7:30 and only received their meal as we were leaving at 9:30. Having been told many of the items on the - quite limited menu were unavailable. One of their party went to the local shop to buy worcester sauce as the food was bland. This pub needs to get its act together as sadly no one is going to be travelling there while the food is so poor.

If you want a top meal and a warm welcome this is the place. The food is amazing and much to my friend’s delight they cater for gluten free customers. Their fish and chips are famous. You would be hard pressed to find a more welcoming place with an ever changing and extensive menu with a daily special menu and guest ails and excellent wine list. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Me and my fiancée went today with my parents and we all loved it! The measures in place to deal with Covid were spot on, the staff all wore face masks and there were perplex guards up between tables. The staff were also very friendly and helpful! Onto the food! I am gluten intolerant and was able to eat everything bar the pie from the menu! I had the cider battered fish and chips and can safely say that they were the best fish and chips I have ever had! My dad had the pie of the day and said that that was the best pie he ever had too! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food and we all agreed that we would be back.

Landed at Audley via the ‘Shroppie’ and initially put off by the extensive menu but all was delicious!! Amazing flatbread with artichoke and Shropshire Blue cheese followed by the best lemon and pea risotto I have ever tasted. Little gems of intense lemon punctuating the risotto and complementing the sea bream. Indian spiced chicken burger was innovative and thoroughly enjoyed. Service excellent and friendly. Loved it!!

We had a tip from friends to go eat at the Lord Combermere in Audlem saying it served wonderful food & that much of it was gluten free. We set off on a sunny September Saturday & the country drive got us in the mood for food. We were greeted warmly by Morgan at the bar but with social distancing rules applying of course. Each table had transparent screening but the pub is tastefully laid out. Owner Jo came & took our order. It was great to see someone enthusiastic about their pub & genuinely caring towards customers & her staff. We chose burger & fries as an afternoon lite lunch but we were very pleasantly surprised. A burger made on the premises with exquisite seasoning was a treat to behold. The best I’ve tasted in a very long while. Feeling giddy we ordered a couple of home made deserts, which also didn’t disappoint. An Eton Mess & custard tart, both exploding with flavour just topped things off nicely, coupled with Timothy Taylor & a lovely Chardonnay. The meal was reasonably priced & we vowed to Jo that we’d be back soon. All in all a lovely pub visit & we highly recommend the Lord Combermere to anyone looking for good food in a warm friendly atmosphere.

Yes again another excellent meal at TLC. Tables well spaced out and perfect service. We both chose the fish special which was pan fried sea bass with tomatoes and new potatoes. Excellent. It’s our local, so we will be back!

Despite applying the necessary COVID distancing rules the staff managed to make us feel extremely welcome. Drinks and food were both excellent.

Delicious fish and chips in beer garden. Cider batter which was light and crispy. Chips were thick and homemade. I had small size for lunch. Lovely small beer garden. Hand sanitiser upon entry to pub and good social distancing.

We were on a canal boat and moored overnight just outside Audlem. We'd heard good things about the Lord Combermere and weren't disappointed - it was well worth the extra few minutes walk away from the canal.Physical distancing and other Covid safety measures were politely and effectively in place and we had the snug all to ourselves. The menu gave almost too much choice but the waiter dealt with my agonies of indecision cheerfully and made helpful recommendations. My pad Thai was delicious, but the chips I stole from someone else's plate of fish and chips were some of the best I've ever had. The batter, both on my starter of battered king prawns and on the main course cod was light, crisp and delicious. Nobody had anything that wasn't top notch and we even had space (thanks to the lovely, helpful waiter) for baked pineapple in spiced rum caramel with coconut ice cream. All in all a lovely, friendly evening of good food and drink. Just perfect.

Yet again a lovely meal in the Lord Combermere. The food is always piping hot and served with a smile. We are always made to feel welcome by Alan and his staff and in these difficult times it is one of the few places we feel comfortable dining . We are so lucky to have such a super pub in the village.

Very tasty, enjoyable food and excellent service. We will definitely be returning. Excellent social distancing adjustments put into place. & very welcoming
