Have been to the local for a roast twice now. Its literally my favourite, not only is the food great but also such a lovely, lively atmosphere. Kid friendly aswell. Would recommend to anyone :)

My family and I ate here for the first time this evening and wow were we impressed! The service was very friendly and helpful and the food absolutely delicious! Very good value for money, we will definitely be coming back.

Everybody needs to know how phenomenal the food is at this place. We have had countless meals from The Local and it just seems that every one gets better and better. Words can’t explain how unbelievable this food is… ESPECIALLY the Biscoff cheesecake!!!! Hats off to the incredible kitchen staff and wonderful FOH staff for always being so friendly and attentive. You won’t get better food than this in Canterbury 👏🏼

We came across this place by chance.Sunday was roast day and one of our party was vegetarian. The staff excelled them selves by making a veggie pie and were so obliging. Could not fault the food or the service. Such a surprise was such good value for the price.Would recommend it highly.

My friends and I regularly go out for a meal every month. We’ve been to many restaurants. But this one beats the lot. Friendly helpful staff. The food is fabulous. Don’t want to go anywhere else now.

Lovely warm welcome by two great ladies. Our dog was made very welcome in the nice beer garden. We had a mozzarella sandwich and a bit with avocado. Both delicious and we enjoyed the bread too. Our dog was brought some water and a snack too! Toilets were very clean and the atmosphere was very friendly. Only thing wrong with this pub.... it isn't near our home. Thanks ladies x

Fantastic service as usual. Warm, welcoming, friendly.

Very attentive staff and prompt service. We sat in the marquee in the garden, which already had bent poles and was threatening to take off in the wind. Inside the pub was really rather busy and although we were instructed to wear masks on entry, of course everyone sitting down inside wasn't. I didn't feel comfortable inside the pub.

Just recently moved to the area so decided to try the local and we were not let down great atmosphere and the staff are superbly friendly great family / community feel .... the pint was very well pulled and the food divine we willBe back more often!!!

I have been running pubs for 30 years. I would say I have a fair idea of what a good pub is. I have also lived in Chartham for 20 years. I can safely say The Local is a very good pub. The pub has an excellent range of beers and ales. It also has great wines and spirits too. However, tonight that was by the by as I had a takeaway. Our pizzas were superb. The residents of Chartham are very lucky to have such a good "local"

the food here is good to eat in or take away. As we are local to the Local, we tend to have take out from here. The curry and indian starters are particularly good

Our first time visit at The Local and we had a super meal the atmosphere was great and the landlord and staff were excellent. We will definitely be back again soon

As usual very accommodating great food , friendly staff nice range of beers. Had the garden for a 30th birthday with the bbq. Kids area keeps them occupied and happy. Not the first drink we have had in there or function and certainly wont be the last

We were staying here temporarily and asked the locals where to eat and we were told The Local. When we arrived we were greeted and served quickly although it was busy. We ordered 2 curries which came in good time and had all the trimmings too. The service was excellent and the the food was great and well priced. Very good atmosphere, surroundings and music. Recommended and will return soon.

Amazing food, had the home made pizza's (Meat Feast and Indian) and taste was stunning. Full of flavour and plenty of toppings. Only visiting the area for a couple of days unfortunately otherwise we'd have visited again.

Siempre tiene una gran variedad de cervezas, vinos y licores. Tiene un gran jardín de cerveza también. Estuve allí esta noche para ver el partido en una excelente televisión de alta definición. Vergüenza por el resultado. Nunca he visto a un idiota en un pueblo aparte de Moorsy en 1976.

I've visited this food beverage drinks establishment for 4years now...I not only love the family who run it...individual attention...lovely to my children...my vodka fresh lime is in a perfect glass 😃 the food is seasoned fresh super tasty home cooked produce.

Visited it a couple of times recently while staying with my sister. Landlord is Saylish, an Indian, but you might think he was British born and bred the way he runs the place. Best pint of Guinness I have ever tasted in England.

Decent pub, great garden for kids with a climbing frame. Can hire the garden for kids parties.

Come here a couple of times now and really enjoyed it. Lots of sports memorabilia around and it is clean and a good atmosphere. Food is really good. The curry is particularly good but I can't fault the burger. Delicious. Good value as well. Friendly owner who is happy chatting to the patrons. Worth a visit if you are in the area

Visited for lunch mid week. The pub was clean and well presented with a wide variety of drinks available. The pub seems quite sports orientated as they have a lot of interesting sports memorabilia on the walls along with screens showing sky sports new and genral sporting information. The food arrived well presented and well portioned. Food quality was good and very reasonably priced.

This is a great pub, quality beers, spirits and wines. The food is tasty, especially the home made curries. The pub also has a large beer garden. There are also large HD screens to watch the sport.

Had a curry and Indian sharing platter there tonight and it was so good. Fresh and really tasty. Plenty of food to share. General good atmosphere

We go here quite a lot, the pub is run by a lovely welcoming family. Good choice of drinks. The homemade food is always very good! The curries and Sunday roasts are my favourites and the desserts are delicious...especially the Oreo cheesecake!

Excellent food and drink with a great atmosphere. Really welcoming lovely place to sit in front of the fire and watch a bit of sport. So all in all a great place...all except the annoying big eared barman lol.

Always come in here when I’m in Canterbury visiting relatives. Never disappointed, friendly staff, good food and beers.

We came for the Sunday lunch, and whilst I’m not a fan of placed food as it were, with the cauliflower cheese in a separate bowl for example, it tasted nice. Dessert a proper portion too, not the usual case of needing to get my glasses out to make it look bigger!

Lovely family run pub serving some pub grub classics as well as authentic home cooked Indian dishes - much better than the local takeaways! Friendly staff and reasonable prices. The restaurant is open to the football fans at the weekends. Family friendly

We are soon to move in to our new Home which is right next door ....so we thought we would try out the pub to see what will soon be our NEW LOCAL!.... friendly service and the food was great with good sized portions....can’t wait to move in now ...we can see ourselves being here quite a bit!

We had been on a 6 miles stroll and decided to treat ourselves to lunch, so headed to this pub.

Really impressed with this little pub, it had everything me and my friends were looking for. Football, good beers on tap, great food to a very high standard and a lovely beer garden. I highly recommend a visit if you are local to the error.

Stumbled upon this pub by accident today whilst lost in Chartham. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere but best of all was the great food. Definitely worth getting lost in Chartham again!!

The Local is a fantastic place to take the whole family. Delicious food, good ale and friendly atmosphere. Nothing is too much for them to do. Children are welcome and are safe to play in the garden. Worth spending a good few hours, you'll find it difficult to leave!

The Local is quite literally our local. Right down the bottom of our road we visit regularly for a nice lunch, catch up or to watch football.

They don't allow dogs in the pub as the owner informed me they were "unclean" animals, which was a first. The great selection of beers they boast of on social media consists of stock like Budweiser and Becks (there were no craft beers or fine ales).

Went to the local today with my 10 year old son to watch the football match. I pre-booked 2x roast dinners. The food was ready quickly and the beef was superb. The cauliflower cheese was also excellent. My son had a small portioned Chicken roast, I felt he could have a had a tad more meat on the plate but overall the meal was very tasty. We both ordered desserts, mine was the sticky toffee pudding with custard, yippee, a pub that does good custard. The STP was yummy. My son has had an ice cream Sunday, which when he two pals saw they ordered one too.

Excellent hospitality, food and service during a farewell gathering in the beer garden last Saturday. The food kept arriving through the afternoon and the kids had hotdogs, then burgers finishing off with ice cream cones & chocolate sauce, brilliant !

Have Visited the Local a few times over the last few months and have found it to be a decent pub the food is good but the menu lacks variety too many Curries and Pizzas,the bar is well stocked with various lagers/ales but the last time I went there was no beer as the pub had lost its licence and for me a meal without a beer or glass of wine is not worth having.
