We had a lovely time at Moat Tea Rooms. I tried the wild berry herbal tea which was delicious, accompanied by a tasty little scone (first time I had one). My husband had a white tea with two scones. Excellent service, nice atmosphere. The bill can be a little high for a snack, but the teas are of very high quality.

The Moat Tea Rooms is a wonderfully cozy spot, tucked away in a charming old crooked Tudor building that feels like stepping back in time. My visit here was a delightful experience. The quaint and intimate atmosphere, paired with the history radiating from the walls, makes it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a peaceful afternoon. We ordered Russian Caravan tea, which had a rich, smoky flavor that felt just right for the setting, alongside a smooth and comforting latte. Despite not being very hungry, we couldn’t resist sharing a slice of cherry and nut pie, which was a great choice. The pie was delicious, with the tartness of the cherries perfectly complemented by the crunch of the nuts. It was a small indulgence, more for the soul than the stomach, and it lifted our spirits on a quiet day. What stood out, besides the food and ambiance, was the warm and friendly staff. They were incredibly kind and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. Their hospitality made us feel truly welcome, and it’s clear they take pride in creating a pleasant and relaxing environment for their guests. I highly recommend The Moat Tea Rooms for anyone looking to escape the bustle of daily life and soak in some historic charm. Whether you're there for a full meal or just a soothing cup of tea, it’s a lovely spot to unwind and treat yourself.

A cute tea house over several floors. Unique atmosphere, narrow and steep stairs. You feel like you're at grandma's home. Nice staff and some of the best scones I've ever tasted. A must have when in Canterbury. But it's best to make a reservation. We were lucky and got a great table even without it. Thank you and gladly again.

I had seen the tea rooms online and thought it should be perfect to take my friends from abroad to, and it absolutely delivered! The place is actually much more spacious than it looks, lovely sitting area upstairs. We popped in Sunday lunchtime and were surprised the place was empty, that meant we got to choose the best table. The building itself is so quaint, the traditional cream tea and sandwiches were delicious, great tea selection, but the service left the most lasting impression. The young lady, I did not get her name unfortunately, was really sweet and helpful, made us feel very welcome. Will definitely be back to sample the cakes!

When visiting Canterbury, this is a MUST go to. The young lady who served us was very charming. Being a History major at Kent, she shared with us the history of the building which is 500 years old! Navigating our way up to the 2nd floor was a unique adventure; mind your head on the way up! The food was VERY good and the wait for it to arrive was minimal. It was such an enjoyable experience! Please do take the time to stop in should you be feeling a bit peckish!

A quirky and historical tea room in the heart of Canterbury. I would definitely recommend popping in here for afternoon tea and cakes. The scones are outstanding (don't even think of getting something other than scones). And our friend loved his brie and bacon sandwich. All tea is served in a pot and they have every flavour imaginable. The service is kind, attentive, authentic, and the decor, although slightly tired, is inviting and charming. I was very close to giving 5 stars but whilst delicious I wished my lemon & ginger tea had been a bit more ginger-y and my lemon-drizzle cake was not a traditional lemon drizzle. But as I say, very very close to five stars and not to be missed when in Canterbury.

The ambience in this tea room is basically non- existant- small rooms, tables too close together so we could not have a private conversation. I ordered an omelette with 3 toppings but only two of these were available. It took nearly one hour to get the food and the hot choc I ordered had to be sent back because it arrived nearly cold. The omelette was very small - children's portion and burnt - pity. The toilets were not particularly clean. We had to ask them put music on since it was too quiet - but when they put the music on we still ouldn't hear in the room where we were seated because the speakers were probably not working. The waitresses are polite ( a bit embarrassed I think). The only good thing was the rose tea which my husband ordered which was very tasty. Also, the environment is quite messy with cleaning products and empty plastic boxes laying on the stairway where customers can see these! We won't be back- this visit is our first and last visit, I'm afraid, especially since the bill was £17- outrageous!

There was a extensive selection of teas, and for those who prefer coffee are catered for. This is where you go in Canterbury when you want a proper cup of real, loose tea, and some wonderful homemade food and cake. We're regulars, so we already love the Moat. But we had to leave a review after our recent, superb cream tea in the garden. The sandwiches were exceptional (incredibly tasty, great range, perfectly presented); the scones were freshly baked; the cakes were - as always - delicious. The huge range of real, loose tea is pretty much unique nowadays, as coffee dominates, so the tea is a reason to drop in even if you're only thirsty and you want to remember what real tea tastes like! (They do have lots and lots of top-quality coffee, too.) As always, the staff were welcoming, expert and friendly. The garden was really pretty and it's a relaxing place to sit. It's lovely to see the place reopened after lockdown (even if 'outside only' when we went, in line with the rules). Thank you for our tea!

Visited here on a Friday Morning as I was working outside, looks kind of a quirky place to have a cafe within, however do not let that put you off I had the full breakfast and it’s probably the best breakfast I’ve had this year by a country mile £12.50 and that’s with a tea not overly massive but it’s delicious none of that deep fried rubbish like other cafes do. Plenty of seating inside and out the back part also there is an upstairs, it’s like a tardis there. The two ladies were very polite and friendly. Its just situated down from the bakery on the high street definitely worth a visit if your in the area. Wheelchair accessible is a no go in my opinion however each to their own. There’s a car park opposite but apparently it’s expensive.
