Beautiful traditional pub, friendly hosts and atmosphere, nice ale, pool table, darts board, would spend a lot of time here if this was local to us.

Excellent quality of the carvery and service would recommend it to anyone 👌

Myself and family members have eaten here many time and every time the food and service has been very good as a local I feel it is very important to support our pub . The burgers are 🍔 excellent .

Lovely pub good food and great staff

Asked for large booking, they where really accommodating and gave us the option for large table to be set up or the seating booked out in area of the restaurant. Everyone enjoyed their Roast dinners from the carvery and the food was really tasty and good selection of meat, vegetables and trimmings. Most of us had puddings too. This is a really lovely pub, enjoyed celebrating my birthday here and is a family friendly pub. We are very pleased with the great service, and the staff are lovely. The cosy fire and seating was good way to end the afternoon after our meal. We could see the children playing the pool table in the designated room off the bar too so could relax. This pub is a hidden gem. Thank you, we will be back! :)

Went for Sunday carvery with a fairly large group, several kids in tow, and couldn’t have picked a better place! Food was great, massive portions, very reasonably priced, but the main reason we will definitely be going back is because of the amazing staff. Very friendly and accommodating, felt more like a home away from home. Beautiful open fireplace with comfy leather sofas and they have a pool table too. Lovely enclosed garden which will be ideal in the summer, clean toilets with provisions, and some pretty cool artwork throughout.

Excellent food, very good value for money and sociable owners. Highly recommended 🙂.

Loverly couple running this place, food is good & reasonable prices, they also have cask ale. We were staying at canterbury reach resort just 3 minutes walk away I recommend anyone staying there to give it a try, we will be going again.

Fantastic pub and the food is great we had Sunday roast last year which was good and this year they do a fantastic Sunday Roast and the apple crumble was fantastic as well we are going back tonight with our three little dogs keep up the good work

Just a great pub only a five minutes walk from Canterbury retreat Excellent beer from Romney brewery And fantastic hosts Food was all very good and reasonably priced The crumble has to have a special mention it was worth the three hundred miles we travelled just for that

Visited for dinner while staying at lodges nearby. Five minute walk away with dog on lit path. Friendly atmosphere, both from owners and the few locals that were there. They welcomed our dog in the bar area. Food good and reasonably priced. Would def go back 😊

Nice inexpensive food, lovely salad, good sized rooms.. only let down was the visiting Dad.. needs to be kept in a shed down the bottom of the garden, he spoilt what could have been a nice trip.. as the wife said (and she is not easily phased) What a pain that chap was!

We ate here whilst staying at the Lodge Park nearby and returned the next day for dessert and drinks! Friendly owners and great food. We hope this business flourishes and we will be back in October!

My family and I visited this pub just a few days a go while we are on holiday. It is just a walk down the road from the place we were staying and we popped in for dinner. We were greeted by a lovely friendly couple who gave us our drinks and let us sit where ever we wanted. The pub has a lovely atmosphere, very big, open and pretty. They took our order and the food came incredibly fast for all 4 of us and the food was amazing, good quality and the portions were generous, would 100 percent come here again but sadly we are leaving today:)

A really pleasant place to visit with very pleasant and helpful staff and tasty food at reasonable prices. I sat in the bar but there us also a restaurant just behind. Good range of dishes- I enjoyed the pie and chips - nice and crispy chips and the chocolate fudge cake is out of this world! Hope to return soon.

We were visiting Petham over the Bank Holiday, so called in for a pint and something for lunch. Paula and Steve were great hosts, so friendly & welcoming and they are obviously working really hard to make The Chequers Inn a great venue with great entertainment, wish your Elvis night had been on but good luck to you both, you deserve it. Lunch was great too.

What a little gem. Went for the Cabaret “Rubix-80’s” and buffet. Both absolutely excellent. Very welcoming on arrival and very attentive. Will definitely go back.

We recently stayed in the lodge very close to the pub,Paula and Steve who run this pub,were very nice,make sure you visit if your in the area,great pub food.Very friendly landlord.

Went out for dinner, and was looked after very well! Great little pub, with good events on too. I'm looking forward to Friday!

My wife and I had lamb and mint pie with mash & veg from the inn's takeaway menu which we very much enjoyed. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately there was only BBQ food available, however we will return and enjoy a proper meal there. Everyone was friendly, but we timed it wrong. I can't wait to try it , I met my partner there so it has many happy memories

Always a friendly welcome from the hosts and a good pint of beer. Times are tough but the Chequers works hard to engage with the local community to provide that little bit extra, so pop in for refreshments and something to eat.

Decided to book a sunday lunch as we were staying at the lodge retreat nearby. So glad we did! It was fabulous and the plum crumble is to die for! Lovely staff too, they were run off their feet but nothing was to much trouble. Will definitely go there again.

5 out of 5 we visited twice on our holiday would highly recommend staff really friendly and very welcoming. Food was delicous i had rib eye and the pepper corn sauce was amazing and was such good value, Dogs are welcome too in the Bar We also had breakfast which was great value as you also got your drinks included in the price, 5 min walk from the Canterbury reach lodges, would definitely visit again please support this amazing little pub

We had Sunday lunch, and it was very good. Good sized portions, plenty of veg, friendly staff, very good value. The only slight criticism is that it was a bit cold, but we were sitting near the door. We will be going back soon.

We visited for steak night a while ago. We ordered steak and the mixed grill and both were fantastic. The owners are warm and friendly and we were really pleased with the prices,, our meals and visit. Will definitely be going again.

looking at the other reviews I wonder indeed if we visited the same pub, it was cold, heating off, log fire unlit most inhospitable. Sunday lunch was dire, overcooked , tasteless and tough beef. probably the worst I have ever eaten. the only redeeming feature...

We go here once a month with members of Canterbury Branch Royal Artillery Association 12 midday until 2pm.

We had a good pub meal after long journey (sausages and mash, burger) and great beer and cider on tap. Meals were well prepared, the burger was a huge stack, good quality sausages and extra gravy was offered with the bangers.

New landlords in this lovely old pub. Great value, tasty home cooked food, good choice of beers and wine, and wonderfully warm hosts. With a real shortage of honest and friendly pubs in the area, really cannot recommend this place highly enough!

Nice to eat in such a welcoming and clean pub which deserves to be very successful. The fish and chips were excellent, good size portions and lovely crisp batter. Liver and bacon on mash with veg was deemed lovely and the ham, egg and chips...

Lovely to see the refurbished Chequers. We received a very warm welcome and then enjoyed a starter of nachos followed by fish and chips and a burger. All were excellent value and very tasty. Will definitely return for a steak night and a Sunday lunch...

We were staying at the Canterbury Reach Lodges, and this pub is within walking distance. The place has recently been taken over by Paula and Steve who go above and beyond to make sure everyone feels welcome. We had pies with chips and gravy and the food was tasty and hot. I just wish we had time to come back for another visit before heading back home, but hope to be back in the Autumn. I really hope that the lodges have started to advertise this pub as being open as it very much is and you will not be disappointed.

Steve and Paula were absolutely fantastic! We were a group of 17 who turned up late on a Sunday night looking for food and drink and they delivered an amazing service! We had a last minute need for 15 adults and 3 kids to eat at 8.30pm on a Sunday. We were amazed that These wonderful hosts not only accepted us but then delivered 15 meals at the same time and every meal was fabulous. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening in your fantastic pub.

This establishment has re-opened after 3 years. Under new management. The food was amazing. Very reasonably priced. Home cooked food. If your in the area, I would highly recommend visiting. The staff are friendly and make you welcome. Ample Parking available, and an outside eating area. I think you will be hard pushed to find good quality food at these prices. Will definitely be returning. Fortunately they had my favourite on specials. Liver & bacon with chips and peas.

Needed a coffee. Hospital visit alas with no beverages. Local garden centre cafe closed so nearest was the Chequers Inn. Very welcoming and seeing that I only wanted a coffee + two for my elderly in-laws made no difference. A lovely coffee at an exceptionally reasonable price £1.10 for a large cup (pension saved). Will make an effort to return for more than a coffee.

Really great food. The chef came out to have a chat with us and he welcomed our positive feedback. The wine was a little flat at first but the staff replaced it with no problem or issue at all. The pork loin was so tender and the desserts were all lovely! It was pretty quiet but we still enjoyed the ambience and the decor was homely yet modern.

Ein typisch Englischer Pub. Der Wirt spricht etwas deutsch und man kann sich etwas mit ihm verständigen. Das sinloin Steak war erstklassig. Der Scampi burger war auch klasse. Ein gemütliches Lokal mit Seele und normalen englischen Preisen. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Visited on Friday evening, a few ales on cask but didn't have anything off the menu as we'd already eaten. Most of the pub is given over for restaurant tables with a small lounge area close to the bar below a TV and by an old fashioned skittles table so could be a bit awkward if there was a larger group of you wanting to sit all together but not be sa up at a table. Large beer garden and restaurant area.

Had a meal here on a Sunday. It was a carvery. I am vegetarian but my husband is a meat eater. I was very happy to be offered a lovely veggie option and everything about the meal was lovely apart from the bill. I was not told until this moment that I would be charged an extra £2 for being a vegetarian! I am sure it didn't cost that much to heat up and put on a plate. Had I known this was the case I would not have eaten there.
