Went for a family meal . Not again Tomato soup turned up as mushrooms soup eventually replaces by tomato soup Bread with the soup was very ahhhh!. Bread with another starter was so bad even the waitress apologised. My timid mother in law even complained to the waitress over her bread. She would not say boo to a goose. Blue cheese with mushroom , no blue cheese taste must have passed the blue cheese over with it wrapped in plastic Vegetables with main meal . Roasted potatoes over hard. Cauliflower cheese veg came when we were half way through main course and the Yorkshire pudding was ultra small and tepid. No horse radish with beef Was told by a family member their salmon was tasteless We were asked for drinks when we came in Attention to next round of drinks big fat zero, We had to ask for a water refills three times before it was actioned. Desserts service too slow Apple crumble, please note less crumble more apple. Sorbet too sharp. Had to find manager to get the bill paid

Wonderful food The Lemon Tree provides well cooked, beautifully prepared and presented food at a very reasonable price. One can understand why they have the AA rosette, the ingredients are first class and their fillet steak is one of the best I have eaten. Well worth a visit

Saying the service was slow would be describing it as faster than it actually was.. they may write down your order but what actually turns up is something of a lottery.

Ate here whilst staying at the hotel. Food and service were good, looked after our friend who has several dietary requirements wells. Pork belly could've had a crisper skin, steaks were well cooked. Tarte tatin was superb.

Went today for a birthday meal and have to commend the staff and management with the quality of personal service. The food was beautifully dressed and the flavours and selection were superb. I would not hesitate to suggest this restaurant and will make it a point to return on my next visit to the area. Geoff Lefevre

I ordered for starter the wild mushroom and gruyere cheese tart with endive salad and pear & walnut dressing. The pastry of the tart was hard, the salad was not endive. The taste was below my expectation of a £7 starter. I choose for main a classic fish and chip. The fish was not cooked! I return the plate and asked a burger the serve apologies. The burger meat was dry, the burger filling was sparse. It was a very unpleasant experience.

We were attending a wedding in the vicinity of this hotel. On arrival we were pressed for time so ordered sandwiches in the bar. They were freshly made and delicious. After a comfortable night we also enjoyed the excellent breakfast - again freshly prepared and served by the very friendly team.

Context: we stayed as part of a close family/friend gathering to celebrate our recent wedding, with a dinner at a local restuarant in the area and quite frankly, we wanted to drink and be merry over that dinner. I booked 5 rooms under 1 name, mine. I was very put out that 1 couple arrived slightly before us and had to pay for their room to acquire their key. I wrestled this point with the rather eccentric lady at reception, who didn't realise the rooms were my booking. Strange, then, that clarifying that I had booked 5 rooms, a phone call came soon after, having checked into our room, that our parents had arrived and were waiting for us at reception. By this point, I had paid for all remaining rooms! Parents were able to check into their room, surely! It was a clumsy affair. The rooms were okay. Bit travel lodg-y if you ask me and in need of some modernisation. God only knows what they were trying to achieve in the hallways. Less is more in my opinion. The rooms were clean, that was a relief and all of my guests commented as much. Although, I don't think the rooms were consistently decorated. The bar was a good meeting place before and after our meal although they closed at 11 on a Saturday night- a bit longer would have been good. The next morning, suitably refreshed, the 10 of us met up for breakfast, The waitress laughed when we asked to be seated together. A strange reaction as it is a large establishment with many, many rooms- surely seating us together wasn't too much to ask? It was an ask too much, as we sat around smaller tables and no effort was put into bringing the tables together. Deep breathing was required for what happened next. Comical really when the majority of us sat together (6) had our orders taken. The waitrss wanted our drink order first. Tea, coffee. She went down the table. When more than 2 people ordered tea, she changed tactic and opted for 'put your hand up if you want tea' to do a head count like we were a bunch of school children. The irony as I am and another member of our party are teachers! I did want tea, but an earl grey thank. you. very. much. To which the waitress responded "there's always one." Look. I was stressed out being the host and all. This was not a good start. Breakfast was again an okay affair. No beans on offer which sadened my husband and I sent my bullet worthy poached egg back to, moments later, be presented with another egg perched on top of the same cold, almost stale muffin. There was not enough bernaise sauce to scrape over one fork full. Summary: I would not stay here again, however convenient it was for our dinner date. It was incredibly expensive for what it was. £ 685 in total for 5 rooms for 1 night stay. Thank heavens above there was enough parking on site. They needed something to redeem themselves with!

We stayed at this hotel from the 11th Aug to the 14th 2018, and we were not disappointed. The staff were ever so friendly, and could not do enough for you. And the food was excellent. The rooms, one for the daughter, and one for us were of good standard, and very quiet. We are possibly looking at booking again for the November fair. Thanks for making it a great stay/ break. Good food as always, but…the menu doesn’t highlight vegetarian options accurately. I queried a pizza with rocket pesto (vegetarian hard cheese as opposed to parmesan) - the waitress had to check then returned confirming the presence of parmesan. I then commented that in that case it wasn’t vegetarian. There was also a starter with burrata that had a ‘v’ next to it but I have yet to find a vegetarian version of this cheese.

Excellent food and lovely building! We came here as part of a trip to Cheddar for my partners 40th, glad I trusted the reviews and chose The Bath Arms. I had the mushroom and celeriac strudel which was delicious and different from the usual veggie options you see elsewhere. My partner had the steak pie, which he said was very good and filled up with meat. The chips he had also looked incredible! All in all, a very nice birthday meal!
