Love lunchtime food. Had the light bite lemon chicken salad.

The food was good. I did have a lovely burger and chips. It wasn't particularly hot. My husband enjoyed his meal. Dessert again was lovely but not hot. Waitresses were lovely.

Great service, excellent food, fantastic value for money, highly recommended.

Lovely place and great staff - went for Sunday roast ( 3 pm so maybe that was the mistake) and the chicken was really very dry, ( even with extra gravy that I requested) the Yorkshire pudding was bizarrely flavourless and a little stale. roast potatoes were Ok but far from great ( who doesn't love a really good roast potato?) veg was a little texture less ( soft) was given free coffee's after mentioning the dryness of the chicken , ( would have rather paid for the coffee and had a great meal, but I appreciated the gesture. ) So, sadly a little disappointed with the Sunday roast that really should be pretty darn good for £23 - ( you shouldn't have to turn up earlier to get good cuisine anyway - although I know when it comes to roast pub dinners, that seems to be the golden rule in most places. .. )

Fantastic food and service! Nice environment.

Food was great, would say 8.5/10 service was attentive, waitress was very pleasant and friendly. The speed of service (drinks) we can't complain about. The food service speed was as expected given how busy it was (Saturday night ending of the month) around 40 minutes after ordering for starters. Then mains was shortly after the table was cleared. Will likely return soon

Friendly, efficient, nice atmosphere and delicious food

An inviting and warm environment with great food and cosy atmosphere. We have been here multiple times and thoroughly enjoyed the food, the selection was great. Only a couple of vegetarian options though, so keep this in mind when booking a table. Unfortunately, we had a very rushed visit where we were reminded to leave our table at a certain time. I completely understand that this restaurant is popular (Rightfully so) but we did only receive our drinks and food menus after being there for 30min. Bearing in mind they ‘needed’ our table an hour after that. Checking the time to ensure that we leave on time ruined the experience and did not allow us to order anything other then a main meal. This has such potential but unfortunately we were let down due to feeling unwelcome. Hopefully this does not happen again.

Nice ambiance very cosy with the fire on, food was ok I had the Chicken Pate as a starter which came with apricot chutney and side salad and 3 tiny pieces of slightly toasted bread, Problem was there was not enough bread for the size of chicken pate and I soon ran out, so was left with just chicken pate which is not the easiest thing to eat on its own. So I ask the young waitress if it was possible to have another piece of bread which should just about be enough after a while the Waitrose came out with around six slices of small toasted slices. I said I only wanted a piece to finish off the pate she just laughed. So when the bill came through after we had finished there was the bread charged at £5.95 Really I said to the waitress she just said well that’s what the charge is for extra bread when we put it through on the till. Well that would have been your tip but I feel I’ve been ripped off which is a shame. To be honest the prices have gone up quite a lot since I last went to the pub over a year ago so now feel it’s overpriced for what it is.

I would highly recommend this pub. It was pretty busy for a Friday evening, which is always good to see. Staff very welcoming and attentive and good service. We had three courses and all of the dishes were lovely. Husband has the ox cheek for main & I had the Moroccan lamb. My only comment was the ‘Med veg’ was practically missing and compensated with fresh beans (which I don’t like and left) but the lamb and sweet potato made up for it along with the other dishes. Meat was beautiful and tender. Highly recommend & will be back

Fab visit as always to the Leather Bottle.My daughter and both had the light lunch - steak sandwich was perfect as was the quiche. Fab service as always and a lovely open fire in the restaurant. Would definitely recommend and we will return.

I don't normally leave reviews, but we have just had lunch at The Leather Bottle. Everything was really good, but the dish that really shone was the slightly spicy butternut squash soup which was absolutely amazing.... a massive thank you to the chef!

Really nice place with lots of little novelties like a tractor in the garden, reading glasses to borrow and a large jar of dog treats! Lovely food, staff and garden. A place I’ll keep coming back to

Lovely old pub, great fire which is very welcoming during the Winter months, attentive staff. However, for me, the food let’s this place down. I ordered the gluten free fish and chips. £18.95 Small amount of fish, large amount of batter. Disappointing considering the cost of it.

They do great food and the Sunday lunch was no exception. I had a mixed roast - Beef and Pork belly, and there was also roast chicken and the normal menu. The food was perfectly cooked and served with a smile.

Reserved a table based on Gluten-Free/Dairy-Free reputation and menu but the acid test of a restaurent is surely "would we come back here?" The answer is "no." Why not? The welcome was shambolic/robotic, the service was pleasant but disjointed and awkward, and the food was commercial-grade, pre-prepared, with a sauce thrown over it. We won a free meal for up to six people in a promotional envelope ("Open after leaving") when paying but; frankly; we would prefer to go elsewhere and pay. Overall: average/adequate "pub-grub" at precocious prices; what a shame. There is better elsewhere.

Celebrated mum's 90th great food and service.

I had a meal with my husband and our friends. We had a lovely greeting when arrived. The food was delicious and we all were very pleased with our food. The waitress was very attentive despite the fact they were very busy. We certainly will come back again.

Very disappointing level of service since our last visit in October 23. We had to ask for our drinks order to be taken on arrival and then again when they had not appeared after 10 minutes. Service of the main course was also very slow. Despite expressing our disappointment to the manager, he did not handle our situation well and made us feel uncomfortable for expecting better service. When the food did arrive, it was good. At the end of our meal, our table waiter did offer an apology, which we all appreciated. Such a shame, as we have recommended this pub to many friends. Sad to say, we will not be returning.

"Me and my partner came here on Wednesday 6th December and we had a wonderful relaxing evening meal. The standard of which was 10/10 It was interesting that Turkey wasn't an option on the Christmas menu but there was plenty of choices to choose from. thank you so much to the staff who were exceptional and made our evening so memorable. we will see you again very soon."

Food was beautiful but a bit slow.

First visit. Lovely meal and great service. Only thing I would like to see is a fruit based pudding as all the desserts looked a bit heavy.

First time here and it didn’t disappoint. Greats service form the team, lots of seating available and plenty of drinks on offer. Would definitely go again and try the food on offer next time.

Been here a couple of times recently to meet friends and family. Fantastic food. Pricey but worth it. It's been really busy both times and service hasn't been the fastest. Not a problem when you're having a good time with good company.

Another beautifully presented Brunning & Price pub. They are so very good at striking the absolute perfect balance between top-notch, superb, high-end restaurant quality food yet without ceasing to remain a pub that welcomes regular drinkers and still has stools at the bar. Sympathetic and extremely tasteful furnishings and decor without ever being tacky or ostentatious. All of their pubs are excellent but The Leather Bottle shines.

My husband and I were making the most of a child free evening and we were well looked after. On a cold November evening the pub was cost and warm as was the staff who looked after us.The food was delicious and we left very happy. Thank you x

Pub seemed lovely. Only went for one drink but the menu looked good and the drink selection was decent. The pub was fairly hot though for me. Plenty of parking and a few interesting bits on the history of the pub. Staff seemed friendly and happy.

Good food and service during an extremely busy lunchtime service

We had heard great things about this pub, but were left really disappointed. The theme of our lunch was that much of the food wasn’t as described on the menu. Chicken “Schnitzel” was anything but. It wasn’t flattened out as it should be, and crucially wasn’t breadcrumbed, but a tiny dry chicken breast just dusted in flour and (deep?) fried. The accompanying “coriander mayonnaise” appeared to be tartare sauce out of a jar. The “Colcannon Mash” accompanying a (pretty good) pie was nothing of the sort - it was literally just mash. There was also some plain cabbage, but surely this is taking “deconstructed” too far. Unfortunately also the pie was slopped with gloopy fake gravy, which was bland, weirdly transparent and thickened with cornflour. I looked up the pub online while there and saw it was part of a substantial group of maybe 100 pubs, which explained something I think - that whoever wrote the menu - presumably at head office, didn’t understand that terms like colcannon and schnitzel mean specific things, and aren’t just nice sounding words you put on menu copy.

Recently refurbished and very cosy. Lovely food and good service. Shame I couldn't sample the beer!

Popped in for bite to eat as in area. Lovely place, large bar area with tables where dining is available, along with great restaurant area. Nice menu, good variety of dishes and all well priced. Duo of pork was lovely, I like the skin to be crispy but just my preference. Veg lovely and sauce was nice and rich. Fish and chips was huge, lovely crisp batter and proper chips and mushy peas. Deserts were very good too! Will def be back, especially as dogs allowed, there were a few in the bar area so they got a fuss.

Great experience only thing, the delicious fish stew portion was a starter size rather than main meal.

Superb country pub. Excellent allergen list for the whole menu. Really good food cooked well. Great local real ales. I was lucky to snap these photos before.

Attended the beer festival and tasted some quality local beers. Great music and tasty BBQ meal with the ticket.

Outstanding food, served promptly by an excellent well coordinated team. Have been going for lunch 3 or 4 times a week, food is consistently excellent. The scallops starter were honestly the best I have ever tasted ! cooked to perfection, which is not easy for scallops. Menu varies regularly so no chance of getting bored with the extensive menu. Very dog friendly if this appeals. Staff I found are all very friendly and knowledgeable on food, beers, and wine. Always 4 good real ales available. Prices very realistic for a good quality country pub. Keep it up!

We went for a meal for my fathers 80th birthday. We had such a warm welcome, the food was wonderful. The staff were absolutely fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, thank you for helping to make a special evening memorable for all the right reasons

We went for a last minute Sunday dinner, the service was great, the food was delicious - highly recommend the beetroot carpaccio! The nut roast was the best I’ve ever had. Lovely team, delicious food, great setting.

Used to come here regularly in the late 80s / early 90s when I lived locally! Glad to see it's still going strong. Dropped in for lunch when travelling through the area and had a delicious meal washed down with a decent pint. Service was friendly and efficient as well. We sat in the characterful bar area but there is also a restaurant area and very large garden for when the sun shines.

Really nice location. Not a fan of the food however.

We went to the leather bottle for dinner after doing the circular walk, if the weather is good, it’s lovely to sit outside, the fish was very good, the bao buns too. unfortunately this may just be my own experience but the service was incredibly slow. However the building and garden have a good atmosphere so I would definitely recommend the food, drink and the walk!

Love this place. Nothing ever too much trouble, great staff, vibe and food. Always welcoming and able to accommodate us now matter how busy they are.

If you like great foods and happy with high prices this place you 100% need to go and try, I come here on special occasions

Sunday lunch was amazing. Great choice of drinks, beer garden is great. Especially in the blazing sunshine on thr day of our visit.

We came for lunch after an alpaca walking experince in Audwell. We were warmly welcomed and served with a smile by at least 4 different staff members. My son had the steak burger and I had the fiillet steak sandwich which was one of the best things I have eaten in a pub. We both had the icecream for pudding which was creamy and delicious. We were pretty much the last ones left but at no time felt any pressure to leave. Sadly we are some distance away otherwise this would become a regular haunt for us! (Also appreciated the very nice loos :)

Walked in on spec (Weds evening, 19:00) and just got a table for dinner in the bar as it was fairly busy. Service and food were excellent, well paced and attentive service, and food that did just what the menu promised. Only the coffee offered room for improvement

Great little pub/restaurant. Food served inside and out in the garden or under a sheltered courtyard. Dog friendly and very happy staff. The food, is consistently good and served within a short space of time. No pressure as to how long you stay and an ideal place to stop and dine.
