Was here today with the lovely Ursula. What a gorgeous little spot! Right in the market square with outdoor and indoor seating. We were attended to by the lovely Kelsey. The food is amazing. We had toasted roast ham, cheddar and red pepper sandwiches in sundried tomato bread. Absolutely yumptious!! It was accompanied with their homemade coleslaw, crisps and a slice of cucumber and orange with a grape stuck in the centre of each, a lovely unique touch. Their latte is great and smashing value for money! Overall a most enjoyable experience. Highly recommended!

Experience could have been better. Scones cake drinks lovely and quaint tearooms. Visited as a couple. Hadn't been there too long maybe 30 minutes and was taken by surprise when a senior member of staff came and looked over my shoulder at how much tea I had left in my cup. It was so obvious and this has never happened to me before. I said I wasn't finished. I feel the reason for this is that they have people seated waiting for tables near the counter and they want a quick turnover. Both toilet seats need replacing impossible to sit on them properly as they are not fixed on correctly First time in Knaresborough for a special occasion and we wouldn't go here again shame.

We discovered this fab cafe when we arrived in Knaresborough and wanted something quick to eat. Even though they were really busy the staff were all very friendly and the food was delicious, with interesting touches such as having lemon curd (instead of jam) with a cherry scone and sun dried tomato bread with the soup. Absolutely fab. Thank you!!!!!!!

Me and my husband visited here on Sunday. Sadly the gentleman who i think may be the owner wasn’t friendly,Looked really unhappy with the job. Made us feel we shouldn’t be there. So we just decided to have a coffee. Also the coffee milk was burnt, i do believe the coffee it self would be good if the milk was done properly.

Steep stairs getting upstairs, but worth it. Old world setting in Market square, full of character. Chose Coronation chicken and Tuna off the sandwich selection, both were filled to the brime! Big pot of tea, scone with clotted cream and jam followed by Cherry cake. All delicious. Good service from everyone, and enjoyable afternoon, will be back. Oh bill was £21 plus tip.

We called here on the busiest day of the year. The service was quick and effiecent. Our server was okay bug not exactly welcoming. Some outdoor space However most of the seating is up a shirt but steep staircase. Good variety of teas and coffees. The lavender scone tasted as good as it smelt. There is a shop downstairs.

Delightful lunch with family here on Tuesday, two of us had the mushroom soup which was absolutely delicious! My sister had the Coronation Chicken sandwich, and my brother-in-law had the ham & tomato sandwich, both were really lovely with super-ample fillings, couldn't fault the quality of the food, and the service which was friendly and efficient, our waitress was lovely! Would strongly recommend, and we will go there again! Many thanks!

My friend and I loved this tearoom. The ladies were so friendly, and the lavender scone was sensational! It was nicer tasting than Bettys! I don't live in Yorkshire, I'm a 3.5 hour drive away, but I would be tempted to go back just for the scone! Great location in the heart of Knaresborough

I have visited the Lavender rooms on two occasions, and on both had terrible service. So much so that on the most recent occasion we left before sitting down - when shown to our table we were told by the man serving us that he had just lost out on a table of 6 because of us (a table of 3, however this was the only table available and he gave it to us!). He was very rude. Do not visit here, they do not deserve your custom! Lots of nicer tea rooms in Knaresborough.

When waiting in a very cramped spot with staff trying to pass we were made to feel like we were in the way. Eventually shown to a table for 6 (3 of us) a very sour faced man with no manners took me to the table and then asked me if we would share if necessary, I replied I will ask my family to which he rolled his eyes and looked annoyed my family said they would prefer not to - he sighed , rolled his eyes again and looked at us as though we were a complete annoyance. I said stop pulling your face at us and he then replied that he would lose a table for six …….. perhaps he shouldn’t offer a table for six to three in future then so that his customers aren’t subject to his rude ungrateful behaviour. I have visited this shop twice and on each occasion this man has been rude ….. use one of the many other coffee shops in Knaresborough, don’t give this man your business as quite frankly he doesn’t deserve it.

After visiting the Mother Shipton Estate we wandered into the town of Knaresborough looking for somewhere to have lunch and came across the Lavender Tea Rooms. As they had tables outside in the sunshine we thought it the ideal place for us to stop. The tea rooms are actually up some stairs and have more tables inside, although we still opted to sit outside in the sunshine. When I had placed our order the young lady asked for my table number and I had to apologise as I had not realised there was one. She smiled and told me not to worry and that she would find me. When our coffee and food arrived, the young lady did, indeed find us. We were surprised at the sandwiches, they were quite rustic and not at all what we were expecting. And they were delicious, if somewhat messy, but that is all part of the fun of being on holiday. The service was efficient and the food swiftly delivered and excellent. Top marks.

I am in a wheelchair and sat at an end table. You can't get inside as its upstairs. There were no menus on the table we could see. My carer went upstairs and when she asked about menus was told brusquely they are on the table. (It was clear there was not going to be interaction). A man came to clear the table and I asked for the umbrella to be put up. "Too windy". Sorry, I pointed out at least 3 others up. He was very offhand then messed about saying it was broke. He left. The people on the next table said "he wasn't very nice was he". As we had brusque service both upstairs and downstairs, we didn't need to find a menu, as we left. Going passed later, the umbrella was up?

Visited this tearooms whilst on a day visit to Knaresborough. We were 2 families consisting of 4 adults and 3 children. Quickly seated and given time to look at the menu. Order was taken by "a funny man" (youngest child's description). He was engaging and playful with the children and adults. Food order was very varied and all requirements accommodated for (couple of fussy eaters). Food and drinks arrived promptly and everyone enjoyed their food immensely. I personally had the coronation chicken sandwich and it was the best I'd ever had. Bread was amazing. My husband had a ploughman's and the cost of it must of only just covered the price of the cheese on there!! Would def come again if we end up that way on our travels.

Sadly I am gluten & dairy intolerant & not a meat eater Most cafes & restaurants are usually helpful & accomodating but not so here. II was told the tuna was already mixed with mayonnaise. When I ordered Jacket Potato with baked beans even was that was served with mayonnaise. At the end when we were asked by the young lady at the till if everything was alright I just.mentioned about my intolerances & that there was nothing on the menu for vegans. The man who served us rudely butted in & said they were there to serve their clientele. Surely we were their clientale! If they are not responsive to feedback as to how they can improve then they have the wrong attitude. They have lost two potential new customers & I consider the attitude to be very rude. There are plenty of other lovely helpful cafes in Knaresborough who will look after me better & provide a good service.

This was extremely disappointing. My husband and I ordered the open sandwiches and sat outside. we were overcharged but when we brought it up it was rectified. We waited a long time for our coffees ( there was only another couple here so no reason for a wait). A waiter came out with two plates after another wait but he didn’t know what they were so he went back in again with them. When we enquired about our food a waitress then came out with mine but not my husbands. It was Luke warm and I suspect the same one that the other waiter had bought out previously. It was a croque monsieur with a huge amount of mustard on and the cheese was so salty I couldn’t eat it. My husbands still hadn’t come by the time I had finished so he went to enquire again and it was just sitting on the side! All in all a bad experience.

Four of us ate a variety of cakes. Three were much enjoyed. I had a cheese scone. I have made and eaten hundreds of cheese scones. This fell into the category of not very much cheese. It was nice enough but would have been so much nicer with a stronger cheese or some chives or chilli to give it some flavour - texture was nice. My black Americano was as poor a cup of coffee for some time. Grainy. Didn't finish. Not a phrase that is used about me.

When we arrived all the tablets were full of used glasses and plates and were not cleared away. Our table was not wiped down and the dirty trays not moved for a good 15 minutes. We waited 35 minutes for our food to come, baring it in mind we ordered a tuna melt and a cheese melt. We went up to complain where they informed us they ‘forgot’ about our order, and brought it down another 15 minutes later. Then proceeded to argue about us about it regarding the time we waited even though we could see the time the transaction went through on the online banking. Overall the food wasn’t brilliant and the cheese melt wasn’t even melted. Not impressed and will not be visiting again.

I saw some hand sanitiser, and they wiped tables between customers, but there was no social distancing, tables shoved closely together outside and inside, and no masks were worn by staff in or out of the kitchen! Scrumptious homemade lavender shortbread biscuits and excellent coffee plus good service. Lovely old building with exposed beams.

The oldest chemist in Knaresborough off the market square with parking adjacent. Enjoy a cuppa in the sunshine but not on Wednesday as it’s market day and no outside seating.

We both had Ultimate Breakfast sandwich, which were packed with bacon, sausage and egg. Very tasty and very filling. One was wholemeal bread, the other sun dried tomato - thick slices. The appearance wasn't too good however. All the chairs had peeling varnish or stain. The floorboards had been painted and had lots of bare patches.

The shop is quaint and steeped in history but the tea room lacks the ambience to match. The food was nice and plentyful and the staff courtious and friendly and not over priced. The Afternoon cream tea for two is not for the faint hearted.

The staff are great. They accommodated our new baby and made sure we had room for the pram. The food is the best quality whenever we come. Every time we come it makes me think why we didn't eat there before this year!.

Popped in whilst looking for a quick lunch. Very unusual setting for a tea room but works well with about 10 tables set up between the pews & the altar. The pews act as an overflow area if all tables are taken but we arrived as one was being vacated. Very friendly staff, a relaxing atmosphere and excellent value for money. Menu is limited to a choice of rolls, soup and a tempting range of homemade cakes & scones. Rolls could have improved if pickle, mustard or mayonnaise had been offered but the cakes & scones made up for this as they were very nice. The church itself is a delightful building and worth a visit in it’s own right. An interesting alternative lunch option.
