Lovely surroundings, clean and tasteful decor. The staff were attentive, friendly and polite, the food tasty and well presented. I will certainly revisit this restaurant.

We have tried this a few times but we won’t be going again. The staff are soooo miserable. The early bird price is advertised both outside on the board, in the window & again on the bar at one price & yet the menu reads a higher price. The menu also states for the special, you get: starter each, mains, rice & Nan per person, yet when ordering we were told you only get 1 nan between 2 (we argued that this was not clear on the menu). Received our starters & only got 1 small bhaji??. Everyone knows you get 2 everywhere normally & we did on our last visit. Food only luke warm. Can’t even say they were busy as we were the only table in. Will definitely not be returning.

Ordered a takeaway which arrived on time by a friendly driver. That’s where the good points end . The food was not even warm . I ordered onion bhaji, awful I can only imagine it was made day before and microwaved to send to me . Just could not eat . I ordered chicken madras 8 prices of meat and sauce absolutely no spice whatsoever would expect medium hot . No taste whatsoever and as for the keema man just shocking and these 3 items cost nearly £18 . To be fair I have never been in the restaurant but to be honest I would never want to go there. I have many fiends and associates in Newcastle and will make sure they never deal with this Indian restaurant. So dissatisfied it’s not true 0 out of ten.

Excellent food but have just put up prices by 25% it's good but not that good. Will never use again.

Another excellent meal in this tastefully adorned Bangladeshi restaurant serving all of the classics as well as an impressive array of chef's and regional specials with professionalism, smile and aplomb. Kingfisher on tap and a decent wine menu. The King Prawns were superb.

Always quality food in a great setting

Pre ordered our meals at 4.30 to be delivered at 6pm. It arrived at 6.50 One of the main meals was missing the chips were bruised and dry. Rice was dry. It cost £50 and it was very disappointing. We’ve eaten in this place a few times and it’s always been a lovely restaurant but I will never be ordering again for delivery. Not edible at all.

Arranged a takeaway on NYE, ordered at 16:00 for collection at 19:30, did not receive food until 22:10. It was extremely busy but this was expected due to it being NYE. The worst part however was that even though me and some other customers had been waiting well over 2 hours and staff repeating themselves saying “it shouldn’t be too long now, other customers were coming in and being given their food within 10-15 minutes! This is not good enough and there is simply no explanation for this happening. I was told that I would receive a call from the restaurant to discuss compensation as nothing was offered at the time however I am still waiting for a call. Once I am contacted and this is resolved, I will update this review. All of this aside the food was spot on as usual.

I ordered a takeaway for NYE it was extremely busy and I had to wait longer than usual but the staff were amazing, polite, courteous and very professional. It was really busy and they appeared to have a system that worked. Well done them

Best Indian takeaway we have had in a while. The pickle tray sauces were high quality, the naan bread delicious too. The chicken tikka and tikka saag were both lovely. Pleasant service too. Will definitely use this takeaway again

Only been once. Had a chicken tikka sag, pilau rice and chips. Was reasonably priced and very nice. Staff were nice and it's handy for home. Will be back 💯

Had a takeaway last night not nice at all , no taste and not exactly what it ordered asked then to make it extra spicy not spicy at all won’t use them again.

We ordered three mains, a couple of sides, some rice ( one would be enough for three people ) and some Nan breads and everything was delicious. So often takeaways just fill tubs with sauce and veg but all our mains were more than enough. We all managed to share and still had some left over. I really fancied something spicy so went with the madras and it had a great hit. The meat samosas were also fantastic. It was our first time trying food from here and we will definitely eat here again.

Food was absolutely excellent. We went on a Tuesday and it was very quiet, they seemed understaffed but to the staffs credit, they covered the all roles and the food was divine.

Used to visit when LDotR was based in Low Fell and the food is still just as good. Service was a little too slow, especially given the low number of people that were in at the time. Will still be making return visits. Starters shown, but forgot to photograph the mains, so you just get an empty plate! Limited parking directly outside and other restrictions nearby, so you may ha e to park a bit further away.

Called in Friday night and it was better then I expected restaurant was fantastic food was exceptional best I've tasted really impressed staff were really great to get on with definitely will be visiting again can't recommend enough

I would say it is one of the best Indians Restaurants Locally

I had an anniversary meal tonight I have been to many Indian restaurants in many parts of the UK and EU, The food is very good quality and sizes are generous, you won't be disappointed, very good service and comfortable surroundings , The price is about £35 to £40 per head not the cheapest but probably worth the little extra, negative is bills still hand written (really 2023) so can be difficult to know exactly what your been charged and often a tax dodge,many Indian restaurants offer a small drink at the end of the meal and for the price would be a great end to a enjoyable meal,Lee

Brilliant restaurant with high quality tasting food and great customer service. A group of 5 of us had poppadoms as a nibble although at £1.50 each, it was a little steep price wise. For starters, friends ordered chicken chatt and lamb chops. They all said the starters were delicious. For my main I ordered chicken tikka naga that came with a 5 chilli warning and, while very spicy, was packed with taste. To compliment the meal I also ordered lemon rice and a vegetable paratha. If you like a hot curry, this is for you. The mains on the rest of the table were equally well received. Kingfisher and Cobra on draft which is always a good choice.

Very busy and popular but service with a smile. Set menu was spot on. Waiting staff handled themselves well. Setting is lovely and the wine list decent. Top evening at a very busy time of year. Take out service is decent too with a real mix of classics and house specialties. Delivery charge excessive at over £4, however.

We have been here multiple times and satisfied everytime. This review is from our most recent dine in. We ordered onion bhaji, keema naan, chapati, tikka masala with rice. Papadoms which the kids loved (staff was also generous to give moree). Generous serving, good food. Happy with all the food we ordered. Everything is halal.

We have used them for takeaway and always been very good. Recently two lots of friends have said how poor it had become so we tried for ourselves tonight and sadly they were right. Chicken tikka main course was very dry, tarka dhal like water and couldn’t tell the difference between the egg and lemon pilaus. Rest of the food was okay at best. A real shame….

Had a takeaway delivery the first for some 6 weeks Always had good food and lovely flavours Has relatively regular takeaways and visits for several years Tonight the sauce was like having tomato ketchup and chicken in one of the dishes The other main the chicken was extremely tough which was the same as the first dish. Also really oily and tasteless The sag paneer was overcooked and tasteless Going to watch future reviews before even contemplating a return A shame but they need to up their game if this is now the norm Won’t recommend again at this time

Called in last night for a take away, will never go back standard's have definitely dropped since my last visit, gave it 5 stars as food was amazing, last night however very disappointed, girlfriends and son tikka masala was brown??? And son never got any chips despite the order being read back to us to confirm, my nan bread was burnt and cold not sure how they managed that! Will definitely be going to Fawdon tandoori for my next take away much better food and competent staff

Very disappointing. Have been before and loved the food but not on last visit. Curry was ridiculously hot but with no real flavour other than chilli. Won't return.

We're regular customers here, both dining in and takeaway and have never been disappointed. Our daughter was home for a visit so we booked a table and the meal and service were excellent as usual. The standards never seem to slip, and you're always made to feel welcome. So glad to have such a good restaurant, so local.

This is one of my go to Indian restaurants locally. The menu has some nice specials, all the food is always excellent quality and the service fab.

Disappointed. Food used to be so good here. Now their mild dishes are so sweet! Could be served as dessert. Their dishes used to be rich and aromatic. Now bland and sweet. Still very nice decoration. Shame .

Had a few great meals from here however the latest was awful. Tikka was bland, tough meat & awful colour sauce , bhajis, swimming in oil -inedible .Dupiaza was the same, no taste to any of the dishes & the naan could have been used as a plate. Emailed 2 days ago - no response. Won't be using again.

The food is the best thing about the Raj-delicious. A good choice of the usual fayre, with a few Raj specials but not the widest choice I’ve seen. Delicious grub though, cooked and served up quickly and efficiently. Nice decor and a good pint of Cobra. What lets the place down though is a small, confusing “car park”, and the service that goes with the meal. When I parked at the end of the front of the building, right next to a sign declaring that the space was “For Restaurant customers only”, a man in a small red car beeped at me and suggested I park on the roadside at the side of the building. I mentioned the sign, to be told that parking there would block the thoroughfare for traffic (delivery drivers?) and when I questioned the burgundy Jaguar FPace parked adjacent to me in not the most caring of manners, I was told that that car, although occupying a large amount of space in the car park that was “for Restaurant customers only” actually belonged to seemingly the proprietor of the adjoining convenience store. That was ok though……..🤔 Service, as I said, was another letdown. The same man in the red car appeared, like Mr Benn, once we were inside, and took our order efficiently enough, although we were pressured into the upsell of two onion bhajis when we tried to order just two mains and rices, with a paratha and a naan. They were very nice though. Our plates barely had time to be cleared of the last grains of rice though before they were cleared away by another male member of staff adorned by a face mask, and when clearing the final plates away, the same man lifted a napkin off my plate and literally threw it in front of me, which Steve, my dining partner, also noticed and was taken aback by. It was Steve’s turn to pay for the meal, which he did in cash, and I don’t think a tip of any magnitude was given. Or earned, to be honest. The food is, as I said, the best thing about the Raj. I think our next meal will be Chinese at Ponteland, which Steve raves about. Hopefully we’ll be made to feel a little more welcome there and I can park the car outside without complication. Hmm.

I always start at 5 then work down depending on food, drinks, service, staff and welcome and so on. All of these were without obvious/significant deficiency. The food was as explained on the menu, fresh, well spiced and very tasty indeed. The onion bhajis were possibly the best we have ever had - crispy and not at all greasy. The Mixed Starter was equally superb,, The four chicken curries we had had plenty of meat. The venue was clean and comfortable and service attentive but not overbearing. Visit again? You betcha!

Went for an evening meal. Its a pleasant enough restaurant and the food is decent. Prices seem to have gone up quite a bit since our last visit and they dont appear to have any specials now.

Beautiful, comfortable decor. Staff very accommodating. Tandoori prawns starter delicious Lamb Hindustani highly recommended. The lamb was so tender and the dish had wonderful flavours. Nan bread was light and not stodgy. Excellent!!!

Llamado temprano una noche. Como yo era la única persona en el restaurante, esperaba que me atendieran con bastante rapidez. Me tomó un tiempo tomar mi pedido e incluso más tiempo para que llegara el entrante. La brecha entre este y el plato principal fue de más de 30 minutos, totalmente inaceptable, especialmente para un comensal solitario. Realmente es una lástima porque la comida en sí es tan buena. Me da miedo pensar en lo malo que debe ser el servicio cuando el lugar está lleno. Para empeorar las cosas, no se ofrecieron disculpas ni descuentos cuando pagué y me fui, claramente descontento.

En general, nos encanta la forma de comida aquí, aunque a veces es pegadiza y sospecha que el chef ha tenido una noche libre. Recientemente he tenido algunas conclusiones de aquí (antes de la pandemia). Tengo que decir que nueve de cada diez veces faltaría algo en el pedido y vivimos demasiado lejos para regresar. Una vez, cuando volvimos, arruinó el resto de nuestra comida ya que estaba fría.El servicio al cliente cuando llamas también es espantoso. Una o dos veces nos han dicho que podemos tener una entrada gratis o algo por el estilo y toman su nombre. Sin embargo, ellos no honran esto y se ponen nerviosos contigo la próxima vez que regreses. No he vuelto a comprar comida para llevar durante la pandemia, ya que dejamos de pedir comida para comer en casa debido a los problemas constantes y a pagar por cosas que no recibíamos.

lamentablemente este lugar nos lo recomendó un vecino. debido a Covid - 19 pedimos comida para llevar y qué vergüenza, de hecho una vergüenza. Llegamos 10 minutos antes de la hora de recogida y el pedido ya estaba preparado y frío. para ser justos, nuestro pedido fue cordero biryani, keema nan, pollo tikka masala y arroz pilau con kebab mixto. La carne comenzada era masticable y dura, probablemente de cordero o de oveja, pero ciertamente no de cordero. Los dos pollos pequeños estaban bien. El biriyani de cordero tenía el mismo problema con los trozos de carne viejos y duros que tampoco podían ser de cordero. Used this service 4 times during lockdown brilliant being able to order on line, choose time for pick up, pay for it an it's ready bang on time, as usual wonderful food friendly staff, definitely recommend it

No lo use para llevar. Pedí comida a las 6 pm y me dijeron que estaría lista para las 8: 20 pm. Llegué a las 8:15 pm y nos quitaron el dinero y nos dijeron que estaría listo en 5 minutos. 9 pm todavía sentado esperando en el auto y sin señales de la comida. Llamado como esperando afuera dijo nuevamente 5 minutos. ¿Puedo simplemente decir que no hay distanciamiento social con un montón de gente merodeando dentro y fuera esperando comida para llevar?El personal fue grosero y brusco.No los volveré a usar.

Sat in many times and food always lovely, ordered a takeaway for the first time arrived home and 2x Currys were missing. Called up and guy was rude and abrupt and told me we had to wait 40 mins for Currys to be made, obviously advised the rest of the order would be cold and ruined by this time, he wasn’t sure if he could redo the whole order. Asked to speak to his manager who refused to come to the phone!! So advised I would be driving round to drop the order off and collect my refund!!! When I arrived I handed the food over and he had the nerve to throw refund acrossCounter at me!!!!If this is how you treat regular customers who have been loyal to your establishment for years then god help your future business!!!! Will never be returning

My wife and I dine here frequently. The restaurant is lovely and the staff are smart polite and witty. The dishes are delicious and well proportioned . Presentation is first class. Makes you feel like you really have dined out.

Disappointed by the service for a large group booking of 16 people. We arrived at 7 and had not received our main courses by 8.40. The food itself was fine, if a little bland. The jalfrezi was nowhere near as spicy as the menu claimed. We will go elsewhere next time.

Luego abrimos nuestra comida. Los poppadoms fueron todos aplastados. El cordero bhuna tenía un sabor a estofado de ternera. ¡El pollo tikka masala fue hecho con leche evaporada definitivamente! ! ¡Eso fue todo lo que pudiste probar! ! Tan decepcionante. Hemos decidido dejar de llevar ahora. Es una pena que las cocinas estén cortando esquinas con alternativas baratas de mala calidad. Nunca más.

We have been here before but a few years ago. It was as good as I remember. The prawn on puri starters were lovely. My dansak was delicious. It was a lovely zing to it and it was really really flavoursome. I would even go as far to say the best I have ever had. My husband’s madras was nice but it was a little light and fruity for his taste but he would go again and would have the same meal so it must have been good.

We often go to this restaurant in Dinnington and sit in but decided to get take out this time. Other half got through a lovely beer while we waited, service very friendly, food delicious, prices great. What’s not to like!

This restaurant was recommended by a receptionist at the local Travelodge. The food, service and ambiance were exceptional. It was all so good we returned the next night and had their early bird special menu. Again, everything was wonderful. One of the waiters told us he is planning to visit the SW of England and we both hope he enjoys our end of the UK as much as we enjoyed Newcastle.

What a fabulous place, it’s only a £5 taxi from the airport and the food here is incredible. Very authentic taste with some amazing dishes I have never tried before. Well worth a visit

Collected five meals for me and friends at 5.30 today. It was the best Indian food I’ve had in many years. So delicious and reasonably priced too. Try it .... you won’t regret it.
