Chinese ran Korean restaurant, they have really put in effort to make the place look authentic. Food is okay, can be better and some side dishes should be complimentary. Ventilation is the problem, gets foggy when group of people are grilling !

I think that Mannaza is an incredible Korean restaurant. My brother and I go there every month for lunch and we absolutely adore the place. The food is outstanding and the set lunch time menue is very affordable.

First time here and first time for this cuisine. Must admit it wasn't entirely to my taste but that's the risk trying something new. We shared a meal for 2, chicken and beef cooked in the kitchen. It did look more fun cooking it yourself so will if I come again. Everything was cooked nice, came quick and staff were friendly, if a little clumsy with the food. Barley tea is an acquired taste, as is Kimchi 😅 but the chicken was spot in tho.

Super lovely staff and amazingly delicious and fresh food, they understood my need to gluten free and made it easy to order something safe. 100% coming back for more!

Everything is as perfect as 15 years before!!! I was a student 15 years ago and tried the seafood pot here, 15 years later now, the restaurant looks much better and the taste is just the same as I remembered!

Excellent service and very good quality food

We ordered Korean chicken wings for starters when they came they looked great but were freezing cold on the inside. We were very disappointed as was hoping for freshly cooked food. This was taken away and replaced with hot ones. The main food and service was good. At the end of the night we were charged full price for the meal, which I thought was harsh as was expecting the price of the starter to be removed as it was cold when served. I wouldn't eat here again

This is by far the best and most authentic Thai restaurants in Newcastle we have come back down from Scotland just to come here! Food is out of this world and the staff are fantastic so welcoming!!! Prices a so reasonable considering how much love and care goes into the food. Don't miss out get a table book and experience this!

CANNOT FAULT THIS PLACE. Incredible food and incredible atmosphere. I've been here a few times now and the food is to die for. Definately a firm favourite in Newcastle and it's not always busy since it's quite tucked away from the rest of the main streets

Best Korean restaurant in the UK I've ever been to! Not only was it really authentic, but the service and the quality of the food was just great! They also were dog-friendly, which is quite rare for a Korean BBQ place! They have a great selection of authentic Korean dishes, such as stews and meat. You can also grill your own meat on the table, which was really fun. I recommend any of the big meat plates (if you're coming with 2+) and a lot of soju! You will definitely have a great evening!

KIMCHI!! Right, this place deserves 5 stars!! Service was absolutely outstanding! Atmosphere-given we went on a monday evening (you all seriously need to fill these seats because its absolutely worth every single penny!) And food! Ahhhhh the food, i prey they open a manchester branch so i can make this my regular! The meat was perfectly tender and really well seasoned, and the pickled cucumber and kimchin was everything i needed and wanted - (surely a thing of my dreams, but its not!!) 5 stars ALL ROUND!! ❤️

I've always wanted to go to a Korea BBQ restaurant and BBQ my own meat on a grill! Was not disappointed by the experience one bit. Lovely people who work there too and super friendly, really want to go back again when I'm in the area.

If you are a fan of Asian food then this place is for you, if you are not then this place might be a good spot to help you liking it 😅. The ambiance is great and the staff is very friendly, helps you with all your questions(patiently) and the suggestions are great! I tried Kimchi Ramen and Mul-Mandu(Pan fried dumplings) both vegetarian and great options. Also I do like to eat more of the vegetarian food so, I was happy to see a lot of veg options. If you love sea food then you should try some prawn starters (My friends did - “Tangsu-sesu” and they loved it).

I had the unfortunate experience of dining (group of 15 people) at this Korean restaurant, and it was nothing short of disappointing. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that our evening was not going to be pleasant. They seated us in a dark, stuffy corner with no window and poor ventilation, making it feel like we were banished to a dungeon. We have to ask them to change the seats and take us 20 mins. The menu was an exercise in overpricing, with exorbitant prices for dishes that left much to be desired. It's one thing to pay a premium for quality, but this was simply a rip-off. The food itself was underwhelming, lacking in flavor and authenticity. It felt like they had just thrown together some ingredients without any care or expertise. Btw the meat also thin like paper. As if the subpar food and terrible seating weren't enough, the service was equally abysmal. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive, as if they couldn't be bothered to provide even basic customer service. Our drinks were never refilled, and it took ages to get the attention of a waiter when we needed something. In conclusion, this Korean restaurant was a complete letdown. The combination of overpriced, lackluster food, terrible seating, and abysmal service makes it a place I would strongly recommend avoiding. Save your money and go somewhere that actually values its customers and serves quality food. Trust me, im an Korean so i pretty confident that i know what im writing here, and how the food should be Never come back here again 🤮🤢

They advertise as halal but they put alcohol in the sauce!! This is not halal!!! They need to warn their customers about this

Best Mandu I have had outside of South korea, absolutely delicious. I also had the bibimbap. It was really good. However it's a shame that you have to buy kimichi as a side. Korean food is always served with sides of lots of different veggies and kimchi its part of the experience. Service was amazing.

The menu is Korean food, but it doesn't look like it's done by Koreans. The taste... I think it would be worth it if you eat it when you're really craving Korean food.

I had never eaten in a Korean restaurant before but was willing to give it a try. Food was average at best and some of the meat was a little dubious. Several dishes were described as "meat" rather than specifying exactly what meat it was. The place had no atmosphere and the decor was poor. I also thought it overpriced for the food placed in front of us. One redeeming factor was that the service was good. Not an experience I would care to repeat

The food was absolutely delicious (I stayed with Salmon and Rice) and the service was also quietly but efficiently carried out. The place is not easy to find approached from the quayside (down a narrow corridor), but the welcome was warm and the price reasonable too. Overall, an excellent experience, the food was beautifully flavoured, not too spicy and I would definitely go back again.

Food standard was high for me in Korean food and this place is definitely not that great , the kimchi jigae doesn’t taste spicy or sour one bit but more like water down a lot , the bbq is okay , little on the salty side and for service can use a some improvement , not once was I ask how I was doing

First time to visit here. I’m so impressed with the atmosphere and friendly staff. The staff is very kind and willingness to give me a good services. Next, The food is very good! I recommend the lunch menu that available on lunch time. I ordered chicken bibimbap and bbq lunch set. Also ordered kimchi soup separate from lunch menu. Taste of Korean food here is amazing and authentic. I like to enjoy food with atmosphere and restaurant song from K-pop. Totally, I will come back again!

I've been here a few times now and its consistently amazing - the food is such good quality (the seafood tteokbokki in particular) and everyone there is so lovely, easily one of the best places to eat in Newcastle

Best Korean Barbecue in NCL. The beef and the chicken are halal though. Ask the staff if you’re unsure. We ordered Meet BBQ Set Meal and Beef Japchae 👌🏻

Great Korean BBQ. Let them know you want halal and they will swap out the pork in the platters for beef and chicken. Great service and recommendations.

The kimchi fried rice tastes bad; it is even kind of sticky. The beef does not worth the price. The spicy squid is not that fresh. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Pretty nice place. Huge menu so lots of stuff to come back for. Service was meh. I went for the bbq lunch set with beef. It wasn’t tasty. The beef had no colour or flavour. I’d probably go for the Japchae lunch box if I return.

Love the BBQ your own food. Food was excellent. Only problem was loads of kids running about, one kid split his water on the floor. Then started stamping in the puddle right next to us. Parents didn't care.

Cheese Topokki was very delicious. Grilled chicken is also very tasty.

The meat platter is the main event and is really really tasty, cooking it yourself is a good bit of fun too. The soju selection is good and the tteokbokki and beef japchae are lovely

This is the 1st time I have had an experience like this and I loved it! We came for my husbands birthday, he has always wanted to come to a restaurant like this. I'm really picky with food so I had the chicken bokum Bap and my husband had the meat platter B. I want to go back just to have the bokum Bap again it was so delicious!! My husband thoroughly enjoyed the meat platter. We will definitely be back!!

With Mannaza being amongst the cheapest of the Korean fare in town, and with a very reasonably priced lunch menu, we popped in one afternoon and was quickly shown to a table. Staff were very friendly but the venue is in dire need of an update. It just didn’t look pleasant in there. Tables were greasy, seats worn and dirty, there was food crumbs on the window sill, it just looked worn and tired. Anyway, furnished with menus we opted for a beef bibimbap lunch set a chicken bbq lunch set. Food took a little while as they were busy. The manager told us that they had been very busy the whole festive season, and she was run off her feet that particular day due to staff shortages. Anyway, the food eventually came, unfortunately we got a beef bbq lunch set instead of chicken, but we decided not to kick up a fuss being that we were hungry, it was the same price as the chicken, and it looked really nice. As it is, the food was just okay. The beef was clearly cheap and from frozen and some of it was very chewy, but overall both meals were nice. The bibimbap was pleasant and there was a lot of rice in there, perhaps at the expense of meat, which was a little scarce on this particular dish. Anyway, the bill, including drinks came to a tidy £20+, and we left a rammed restaurant. However, it was only outside, in the fresh air, that we noticed the smell on our clothes. A very greasy kitchen smell had seeped into our clothes and it was rank. I could not wait to get home and shower. It was noticeable and borderline vile. Prices are cheap for a reason…

I was going with work for a Christmas party so I had somewhat of a budget I had to stick to. A poor start because I had some items in mind based on their most up to date menu on their Facebook page which was uploaded in 2017 and all the items I had totted up were between an extra £1 - £3 so I had to figure out what else I wanted instead. I also found that it was weird when they were bringing the food over and calling out the number the food was associated to on the menu. When asking whether it was bulgogi or samgyeopsal they just repeated the number again. Bit odd that the waiters don't know the name of the dish they're serving honestly. I would say even after the price increase it still seemed reasonable, however, I am comparing it to a KBBQ I tried near Fulham in London so probably not a reasonable price for the area. The food was good though especially the Kimchi jjigae but I’m appalled that no banchan was provided and lettuce cost extra.

Update: Unfortunately I have update my review of Mannaza. Their set lunch menu is the opposite of value for money. The Bibimbap had a tiny quantity of actual meat and veg and a whole load of rice. Not at all proportionate to the price, when compared to the full price dish. I was left with a big bowl of rice with nothing to eat it with, other than the sauce it came with. I'm happy to pay for the full price dish if I knew this is what ordering from the lunch menu meant. Original: Had a brilliant korean bbq meal with friends here. Everything on the menu was delicious, service was friendly and attentive. Sharing meat platter B and gyozas are highly recommended. Can't wait to go back!

We ordered two lunch sets, chicken dumplings and korean seafood pancakes. Prices were the similar to London korean restaurants. We came here as previous visit 4 years ago was excellent. Unfortunately, this visit was extremely disappointing. When we sat down, tables were sticky and there was unidentifiable liquid on the underside of the chair rim hidden from view, (looked brownish and felt oily). I got on my hands as I pulled my chair in to sit. Dumplings tasted like defrosted ones you can get off the asian supermarket, japchae was bland, rice tasted funky. The korean seafood pancake was bland, seafood didn’t taste fresh, batter was too thick. We were starving when we came, lost our appetite first few bites. Eventually, we didn’t finish more than half our food. Has no authenticity Korean-wise, but if you’re looking for asian food to fill your belly, you might think this works. Overall, 100% not visiting again from me.

Service was good but the food was very average. Ordered the squid and pork hot grill set and the pork felt very tasteless and there were only 3 tiny small squid in there. Ordered the Korean fried chicken but please do go anywhere near this. The batter was nothing like a proper fried chicken and it was served in a sweet chilli sauce.. I had the Korean pancakes with ice cream. It was delicious but it looked very sad when it arrived with an almost melted piece scoop of ice cream. I spent £40 for one person and it was not well spent.

Writing this for the owner. We had the samgyupsal and beef bbq tonight. The portions of meat are really stingy considering the price of pork belly. The ‘steak’ was some tenderised cheap cut of beef, flavourless and tough. You charge £2.50 or £2.95 for 0.10p worth of lettuce or kimchi. Your restaurant is nothing like a Korean restaurant despite branding yourself so. The outdoor gas grill with the detachable gas canister has no business indoors within a confined space with a large grill pan over it. The grill pan we got was clean as such if you don’t mind the layers of burnt fat around the rim. Please do something to improve your restaurant? But why would you when people keep buying a poor imitation of Korean food

Great food, very friendly waiting staff who look after you throughout the visit. The marinated meats are very nice, and some of the sides and starters are great. Visited on multiple occasions and never been let down.

I rarely eat in a korean restaurant, but this one is a must 😉 It so happened that my friends and I passed by the area and we saw its ambience - cosy. So we decided to visit few days back. At first we were hesitant because we thought they wont accept without reservation, but they accepted walk in actually. 🫢 So, we ordered the platter of mix meat and platter of seafood - worth the price 😉 We enjoyed cooking actually 😅 Price is reasonable so i think we will have a visit again ☺️☺️☺️ By the way, staffs are so friendly too 😉

Great fun for a group but also delicious and well priced for a quick meal alone too. We've come here regularly for over a year now and loved it every time.

we came because of the nice reviews in a hope we will get a good authentic korean food, but we are so disappointed by the taste of the food, we order one noodle, fried rice, and a soup, but none of them has the authentic taste of korean food, it was not bland but more of like instant savoury taste. I think if you looking for the korean taste this is not the place, but if you want some asian food (in general taste) you could go for it, the rest (staff, service, ambience, value) is fine tho.

Different concept of the hot plate and raw food. Great idea. Busy resturant. Food nice, but not to my palette. That being said, it's my preference nothing wrong with the food. But I would return and have something different.

Please look at the food hygiene rating of this restaurant before going. I went in February 2023 and had food poisoning- of which i am now still suffering from long term symptoms now.

Honestly I can't think of any restaurant like it in Newcastle, typically 30 quid per person spend, super lovely staff and atmosphere. Anybody wanting to try Korean food or who likes Korean food I'd suggest they try Mannaza.

Lovely restaurant, great customer service... just the food really wasn't for me. Second time trying Korean... the Katsu Chicken was nice but didn't think much of the miso soup, kimchi or the toppokki with cheese (sp?). Only some of the chicken & beef is halal...be careful some dishes contain sake (for those who don't consume alcohol)

The noodles were so tasty, and they are perfect to eat during a rainy day. I did try the tobboki, and it wasn’t the best. I do believe it tasted more sour than spicy. In addition to this, everything was reasonably price and overall it was great quality food and service.

My family and I came here for the first time, and of course we won't be back. RECOMMENDED not to come here as the food was POOR quality and VERY VERY dirty our baking tray and spoon were not cleaned and there was still food from the previous person on it. Love Korean food - so love this place!

Our family had a good meal here. The kids devoured their meals and the adults enjoyed cooking our BBQ. Service was fast, friendly and attentive.
