Best Mandu I have had outside of South korea, absolutely delicious. I also had the bibimbap. It was really good. However it's a shame that you have to buy kimichi as a side. Korean food is always served with sides of lots of different veggies and kimchi its part of the experience. Service was amazing.

I had never eaten in a Korean restaurant before but was willing to give it a try. Food was average at best and some of the meat was a little dubious. Several dishes were described as "meat" rather than specifying exactly what meat it was. The place had no atmosphere and the decor was poor. I also thought it overpriced for the food placed in front of us. One redeeming factor was that the service was good. Not an experience I would care to repeat

I have never been to Mannaza before, but I was with my youngest at Christmas and they are a regular visitor. The food was absolutely delicious (I stayed with Salmon and Rice) and the service was also quietly but efficiently carried out. The place is not easy to find approached from the quayside (down a narrow corridor), but the welcome was warm and the price reasonable too. Overall, an excellent experience, the food was beautifully flavoured, not too spicy and I would definitely go back again.

My first time trying Korean food and I really enjoyed it! They had such a huge menu it was hard to know what to go for, would definitely like to come back and try more!

Everything is incredible. We've been here twice now and can't fault it. Lovely staff, delicious food. Nothing to complain about at all.

Love the BBQ your own food. Food was excellent. Only problem was loads of kids running about, one kid split his water on the floor. Then started stamping in the puddle right next to us. Parents didn't care.

The meat platter is the main event and is really really tasty, cooking it yourself is a good bit of fun too. The soju selection is good and the tteokbokki and beef japchae are lovely

Cheese Topokki was very delicious. Grilled chicken is also very tasty.

This is the 1st time I have had an experience like this and I loved it! We came for my husbands birthday, he has always wanted to come to a restaurant like this. I'm really picky with food so I had the chicken bokum Bap and my husband had the meat platter B. I want to go back just to have the bokum Bap again it was so delicious!! My husband thoroughly enjoyed the meat platter. We will definitely be back!!

With Mannaza being amongst the cheapest of the Korean fare in town, and with a very reasonably priced lunch menu, we popped in one afternoon and was quickly shown to a table. Staff were very friendly but the venue is in dire need of an update. It just didn’t look pleasant in there. Tables were greasy, seats worn and dirty, there was food crumbs on the window sill, it just looked worn and tired. Anyway, furnished with menus we opted for a beef bibimbap lunch set a chicken bbq lunch set. Food took a little while as they were busy. The manager told us that they had been very busy the whole festive season, and she was run off her feet that particular day due to staff shortages. Anyway, the food eventually came, unfortunately we got a beef bbq lunch set instead of chicken, but we decided not to kick up a fuss being that we were hungry, it was the same price as the chicken, and it looked really nice. As it is, the food was just okay. The beef was clearly cheap and from frozen and some of it was very chewy, but overall both meals were nice. The bibimbap was pleasant and there was a lot of rice in there, perhaps at the expense of meat, which was a little scarce on this particular dish. Anyway, the bill, including drinks came to a tidy £20+, and we left a rammed restaurant. However, it was only outside, in the fresh air, that we noticed the smell on our clothes. A very greasy kitchen smell had seeped into our clothes and it was rank. I could not wait to get home and shower. It was noticeable and borderline vile. Prices are cheap for a reason…

I was going with work for a Christmas party so I had somewhat of a budget I had to stick to. A poor start because I had some items in mind based on their most up to date menu on their Facebook page which was uploaded in 2017 and all the items I had totted up were between an extra £1 - £3 so I had to figure out what else I wanted instead. I also found that it was weird when they were bringing the food over and calling out the number the food was associated to on the menu. When asking whether it was bulgogi or samgyeopsal they just repeated the number again. Bit odd that the waiters don't know the name of the dish they're serving honestly. I would say even after the price increase it still seemed reasonable, however, I am comparing it to a KBBQ I tried near Fulham in London so probably not a reasonable price for the area. The food was good though especially the Kimchi jjigae but I’m appalled that no banchan was provided and lettuce cost extra.

Update: Unfortunately I have update my review of Mannaza. Their set lunch menu is the opposite of value for money. The Bibimbap had a tiny quantity of actual meat and veg and a whole load of rice. Not at all proportionate to the price, when compared to the full price dish. I was left with a big bowl of rice with nothing to eat it with, other than the sauce it came with. I'm happy to pay for the full price dish if I knew this is what ordering from the lunch menu meant. Original: Had a brilliant korean bbq meal with friends here. Everything on the menu was delicious, service was friendly and attentive. Sharing meat platter B and gyozas are highly recommended. Can't wait to go back!

We ordered two lunch sets, chicken dumplings and korean seafood pancakes. Prices were the similar to London korean restaurants. We came here as previous visit 4 years ago was excellent. Unfortunately, this visit was extremely disappointing. When we sat down, tables were sticky and there was unidentifiable liquid on the underside of the chair rim hidden from view, (looked brownish and felt oily). I got on my hands as I pulled my chair in to sit. Dumplings tasted like defrosted ones you can get off the asian supermarket, japchae was bland, rice tasted funky. The korean seafood pancake was bland, seafood didn’t taste fresh, batter was too thick. We were starving when we came, lost our appetite first few bites. Eventually, we didn’t finish more than half our food. Has no authenticity Korean-wise, but if you’re looking for asian food to fill your belly, you might think this works. Overall, 100% not visiting again from me.

Service was good but the food was very average. Ordered the squid and pork hot grill set and the pork felt very tasteless and there were only 3 tiny small squid in there. Ordered the Korean fried chicken but please do go anywhere near this. The batter was nothing like a proper fried chicken and it was served in a sweet chilli sauce.. I had the Korean pancakes with ice cream. It was delicious but it looked very sad when it arrived with an almost melted piece scoop of ice cream. I spent £40 for one person and it was not well spent.

Writing this for the owner. We had the samgyupsal and beef bbq tonight. The portions of meat are really stingy considering the price of pork belly. The ‘steak’ was some tenderised cheap cut of beef, flavourless and tough. You charge £2.50 or £2.95 for 0.10p worth of lettuce or kimchi. Your restaurant is nothing like a Korean restaurant despite branding yourself so. The outdoor gas grill with the detachable gas canister has no business indoors within a confined space with a large grill pan over it. The grill pan we got was clean as such if you don’t mind the layers of burnt fat around the rim. Please do something to improve your restaurant? But why would you when people keep buying a poor imitation of Korean food

Great food, very friendly waiting staff who look after you throughout the visit. The marinated meats are very nice, and some of the sides and starters are great. Visited on multiple occasions and never been let down.

Fantastic restaurant, and a great idea for big social groups!

I rarely eat in a korean restaurant, but this one is a must 😉 It so happened that my friends and I passed by the area and we saw its ambience - cosy. So we decided to visit few days back. At first we were hesitant because we thought they wont accept without reservation, but they accepted walk in actually. 🫢 So, we ordered the platter of mix meat and platter of seafood - worth the price 😉 We enjoyed cooking actually 😅 Price is reasonable so i think we will have a visit again ☺️☺️☺️ By the way, staffs are so friendly too 😉

Great fun for a group but also delicious and well priced for a quick meal alone too. We've come here regularly for over a year now and loved it every time.

I had the unfortunate experience of dining at this Korean restaurant, and it was nothing short of disappointing. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that our evening was not going to be pleasant. They seated us in a dark, stuffy corner with no window and poor ventilation, making it feel like we were banished to a dungeon. We have to ask them to change the seats and take us 15 mins too T.T The menu was an exercise in overpricing, with exorbitant prices for dishes that left much to be desired. It's one thing to pay a premium for quality, but this was simply a rip-off. The food itself was underwhelming, lacking in flavor and authenticity. It felt like they had just thrown together some ingredients without any care or expertise. As if the subpar food and terrible seating weren't enough, the service was equally abysmal. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive, as if they couldn't be bothered to provide even basic customer service. Our drinks were never refilled, and it took ages to get the attention of a waiter when we needed something. In conclusion, this Korean restaurant was a complete letdown. The combination of overpriced, lackluster food, terrible seating, and abysmal service makes it a place I would strongly recommend avoiding. Save your money and go somewhere that actually values its customers and serves quality food. Never come back here again 🤮🤢

we came because of the nice reviews in a hope we will get a good authentic korean food, but we are so disappointed by the taste of the food, we order one noodle, fried rice, and a soup, but none of them has the authentic taste of korean food, it was not bland but more of like instant savoury taste. I think if you looking for the korean taste this is not the place, but if you want some asian food (in general taste) you could go for it, the rest (staff, service, ambience, value) is fine tho.

Was out for my sons 18th and we had the best time. The food was on lovely and the staff are so friendly xx

Different concept of the hot plate and raw food. Great idea. Busy resturant. Food nice, but not to my palette. That being said, it's my preference nothing wrong with the food. But I would return and have something different.

Please look at the food hygiene rating of this restaurant before going. I went in February 2023 and had food poisoning- of which i am now still suffering from long term symptoms now.

Honestly I can't think of any restaurant like it in Newcastle, typically 30 quid per person spend, super lovely staff and atmosphere. Anybody wanting to try Korean food or who likes Korean food I'd suggest they try Mannaza.

Lovely restaurant, great customer service... just the food really wasn't for me. Second time trying Korean... the Katsu Chicken was nice but didn't think much of the miso soup, kimchi or the toppokki with cheese (sp?). Only some of the chicken & beef is halal...be careful some dishes contain sake (for those who don't consume alcohol)

The noodles were so tasty, and they are perfect to eat during a rainy day. I did try the tobboki, and it wasn’t the best. I do believe it tasted more sour than spicy. In addition to this, everything was reasonably price and overall it was great quality food and service.

My family and I came here for the first time, and of course we won't be back. RECOMMENDED not to come here as the food was POOR quality and VERY VERY dirty our baking tray and spoon were not cleaned and there was still food from the previous person on it. WE are really shocked!!! while the price is very high, the service is very bad, they still charge our service 30 pounds , if possible I would not give them 1 star but 0 star🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

Love Korean food - so love this place!

Our family had a good meal here. The kids devoured their meals and the adults enjoyed cooking our BBQ. Service was fast, friendly and attentive.

Enjoyed the sharing platter (Meat A and Seafood A) with my wife. Marinades are lovely but in hindsight we should have asked for a side plate or ordered some lettuce to wrap the meat. Great food, good quality and enjoyable surroundings.

We just randomly chose this spot as we were craving for some soup. But, OMG I love it. That’s definitely real korean food. Well marinated pork. I personally like beef ribs soup a lot. Quick service and reasonable price!

Had cook yourself bbq. Meats are spectacular. Sauced and prepared to perfection. Doesnt matter if you burn it it still tastes spectacular. We ordered korean drinks they all tasty. Setup and everything is awesome. I would highly recommend. You dont feel full but you are. It leaves an incredible taste in your mouth that you dont want to ruin it with desserts…

I arrived around 8pm and was given a table quite quickly, within 5-10 minutes I'd say. The menu was extensive enough for us and we ordered a couple of items, which was served promptly. I can see there are quite a number of tables and only 3 staff but their service were efficient enough, bearing in mind it was after 8pm. The only complaint I might have is that the ventilation is very poor, and when you have multiple tables grilling meat, the oily smell gets quite uncomfortable.

The food is absolutely stunning. My first time arriving the lady showed me which dishes complimented eachother and I got two starters (the portions are massive). My friend is halal and they accommodated her immediately. Lovely meal and it is a regular spot for me.

Absolutely one of my favourite restaurants but was disappointed this time

Meat platter had meet that wasn't fresh. Smelled and tasted as defrosted meat. Plenty of water came out of it while we were cooking it. Photo attached. Tasted old. Small portion. Salads were seasoned with some poor quality vinegar or dressing. Didn't enjoy any of it. We ordered Aloa Vera and Greipfruit Juices. For some reason I imagined it to be fresh. Juices came in a plastic bottle and a can, preserved and full of sugar. Tables were sticky. Restaurant needs cleaning inside and outside. Smoke extractor didn't work. Place is full of smoke. Staff is very pleasent and fast.

As someone who has spent a lot of time in Korea, and makes a lot of Korean food at home, I can 100% recommend Mannaza. Great range of dishes and drinks, very reasonably priced, and a very authentic atmosphere. My only criticism would be that unlike a traditional Korean restaurant no complimentary side dishes are served, and they must bought - but that's a minor issue if you just want something quick and tasty.

I’ve lost count the amount of times I have been here. It is my #1 restaurant in Newcastle and in March I took my friends for my birthday. They hadn’t tried Korean food before and they all thoroughly enjoyed it. My go to order is the samgyeopsal bbq and kimchi jiggae. Staff are always super friendly and the atmosphere is inviting. I was introduced to this restaurant by a Korean friend who told me it’s the best Japchae they’ve ever had. Will continue to return. ❤️

Food was ok and staff were ok. Some look like they didn't want to work there. Enjoyed the veggie side dishes and I recommend the pork crackling in salt and pepper if they have it. However, I don't recommend the fried chicken strips and fried squid. Tasted bland and the sauce didnt help. Overall an ok experience.

Finally got to eat at Mannaza! Personally this is my top 1 choice of Korean Restaurant in Newcastle from now on ❤️ Staffs are nice and foods are serve pretty quickly. We got BBQ set (good for 2), naengmyeon & teokbokki (forgot to take picture).

Tried their lunch menu which is the BBQ lunch set for the first time! Portion was good but I prefer the rice to be japanese rice rather than jasmine rice. Also the price for lunch menu has increased recently. Will come again for sure. The beef and chicken is halal.

Première fois de ma vie qu'on me fait payer les accompagnements avec un barbecue coréen, j'ai dû payer 3£ pour un bol de riz qui n'était même pas du riz comme le font les coréens. On m'a amené simplement la viande à griller, même pas de kimchi offert. Je pense que le personnel asiatique n'est jamais allé en Corée, et qu'ils n'étaient pas coréens non plus

Amazing restaurant. Great ambience (wooden with Korean decorations and paper lamps), tasty food, kind and helpful staff. Recommended! We were quiet early on Monday evening and it was still full (we waited for about 10mins with drinks) so booking would have been better (even on a Monday). Relatively quick turnover. Most popular dishes seem to be the 1/ Korean BBQ (get raw meat of your choice and book it yourself at the table - lovely and meat is thin so cooks very quickly) (set meal for 2 with starter, 2 sides and plate of chicken and plate of beef with 2 little pots of rice £30), 2/ broth type meals and the 3/ stone pot meal (get say rice and stuff in a extremely hot stone pot, which you mix yourself at the table to complete cooking at the table (£10).

We came on a Friday evening and it was very much packed. Despite reserving in advance, we had to wait for about fifteen minutes, but the food was delicious and worth the wait. Since its a barbecue restaurant and full, it was very steamy inside and water condensed on the windows. I would recommend visiting when there are less people to have better air to breathe, otherwise it's great and delicious.

We tested the restaurant with friends. We shared a meat platter and each got another main each. The food was good, service with a smile, and generally had a great experience cooking the meat on the barbecue grill.

Gorgeous good here and a great atmosphere - energetic clattering as people sizzle their own food and share different dishes My friend and I had the platter with the beef bulgogi, chicken, the fried dumplings and rice. It comes with kimchi and a greens dish too. The flavours were delectable - interesting, unique and really enjoyable. I like that you get to try a few things too. We decided to go for the precooked version (which is a tad more expensive) because I was quite tired that day. It was cooked to perfection There are hotplates in the middle of every table and metal exhaust tubes over every one. Most were cooking their own meats. I asked the lady why people would cook their own food at the end of a Busy day. She said that way the meat is always fresh as you only cook what you need each time. You can also cook it to just how you like it (though this would stress me out!). She kindly offered to show us what to do which I'll definitely be taking her up on. We had barley teas and the sharing platter for 2 and paid £20 each which included our tip. Great value for a fun and different night out. Highly recommend

went here on a valentine’s night, (it was the only place available for booking the day before for a group of nine people) it was packed with people and there was a long queue so recommend that you make a reservation in advance! I wouldn’t say that it is authentic Korean food, but the taste was okay in its own way.

Been here a few times and always enjoyed it. Today was no exception, we ordered so much food for ourselves, we decided to get lots of side dish. The food was all magnificent! Really loves the japchae noodles and the fried chicken wings, in fact all the food was brilliant! Greet experience and lots of fun.

Always a delightful experience, we will go back for more time and time again.

Very tasty KBBQ, quickly served, although you do have order everything separately (no lettuce or side dishes included with BBQ sets as you may be used to at more traditional restaurants). Alcohol is quite expensive.

Really poor service. Left waiting for over 20 minutes for our table. Food dumped in front of us with no explanation on how to cook it. No follow up to see if everything is OK. Ordered 2 cokes and had two can dumped on the table.

We did the cook it yourself grill for restaurant week and it was really enjoyable. The food was great quality and delicious, though it was quite busy and getting the staffs attention was quite difficult, but they were friendly and polite when we did.

This restaurant is super accommodating to big groups - we came for a uni society trip and weren’t even asked to put a deposit down. The staff and friendly if a little sparse in numbers, and the food is tasty (great pajeon!). They also had a few soju flavours that I’ve not tried before which was nice. A couple of hiccups with items we hadn’t ordered on the bill but nothing that wasn’t remedied quickly. I’ll be back!

Just an impromptu visit to Newcastle in restaurant week resulted in us coming across this beauty of a place. We ordered off the restaurant week menu and what we had was excellent. I ordered the omelette and bibimbap and the Bride had the dumplings and Udon noodles. All our meals were a decent sized portion and very tasty, very well cooked and piping hot. Despite it being a Saturday night and rammed with customers the service was second to none. We were greeted like old friends and the young man who waited our table was extremely helpful and attentive. We will definitely be going back and trying a lot more of dishes off the menu. In short excellent food and service.

Portions small and staff too busy

Got the meat bbq and a seaweed salad - it was amazing, the meat was really juicy and tender and great with the sauce, didn’t enjoy the seaweed salad a lot but it helped with cleansing out the flavours of the steak with every other bite so it would help with more than one course

It was ok but for the fact that they got our order wrong and then billed us twice as much as what it should have been, although they did rectify the bill after two attempts. It's a bit studenty in terms of the clientele and we were ushered into the rear of the premises on arrival, which is a bit dark and dingy and not what we expected having looked at the pictures on the web. Whilst the food was ok I have certainly had better and the portions were a bit on the small side. It must have something going for it as it was very busy and we felt rushed as they cleared empty plates from our table before we had completed our meal. Would we go again, probably not.

I love korean food here. We ordered delicious hot pot, it's for 2 servings but we can not finish it, so big. Love the soup very much. It warmed our freezing body. And for the toppokki, we enjoyed every last bite, the sauce was amazing.

Wir hatten ein Korean BBQ. Das Fleisch und die Beilagen waren wirklich sehr gut. Wir hätten gerne mehr gegessen, aber irgendwann ist man halt voll. Der Service war sehr schnell und freundlich. Das ganze war preislich auch echt sehr fair. Wir hatten für umgerechnet 50€ eine große Fleischplatte zum teilen, Kimchi, Reis, Salat und je ein Getränk. Insgesamt war es echt gut und wir würden sicher wieder kommen.

Food wasn't great. Everything needs to be paid for, even lettuce and garlic pieces that usually comes for free in a korean bbq place. Waiters were slow.

Very glad that I booked a table before attending. Really lovely restaurant. The food was to die for. We did the self cooking option and it was really easy and fun to use. Would come again

We visited for our daughters 13th birthday. She wanted to try authentic Korean food. I was a bit worried incase it was very spicy but I shouldn't have. All the food was delicious. The waiting staff were friendly and shared information about the menu. The restaurant was relaxed and clean. We chose a combination of cook your own at the table and other dishes and all were delicious. Definitely worth a visit. We will be back.

Visited on 12 Nov 2022 at 8pm. The restaurant was crowded and despite having a reservation it did take a while before we could get seated. We had ordered the Meat Platters A & B, the Kimchi Jjigae and the Kimchi Jeon (Pancake) to share for 5 pax. While the sharing platters were decent in terms of the flavour, the Kimchi jjigae and the kimchi jeon were a let-down. There was not much flavour at all in the kimchi jjigae and didn't not seem to be authentic. The Kimchi jeon was dry and pasty, with not much taste of kimchi either. As it was very busy, the staff were unable to serve us promptly and it could be due to the lack of staff on the floor. Even after we had started grilling the meats, we were still not given plates and cutlery to eat with and had to wait a while before we could ask for them. Perhaps going at a less busy time would result in a better service. I would only recommend going for the BBQ and not for the side dishes at all.
