The food was ok, tasty enough but not much spice and I had ordered the spiciest dishes. My partner ordered a beef dish and again it was tasty enough but no spice. The dessert menu is very limited ice cream, and two choices of battered fritters, so did not get anything. It was ok for a change but will not be going back again.

I visited this place last night after many years, I think previously it was called Siam and I had fond memories however this time around i was left disappointed, the food was a massive letdown, we ordered fishcakes and Spring rolls for starters and the Fishcakes were thin and a weird texture very chewy and a bad aftertaste, the Spring rolls didn't appear fresh either and were incredibly salty, I had the Duck Ginger stir fry for Main course, think there was 3 pieces of Duck and what resembled and tasted of soy sauce soup underneath, we are not the type to complain especially as the staff are lovey we left our meals and paid the bill which wasn't' cheap considering what we had just sampled, I understand the cost of running restaurants now is a struggle but I feel some cost cutting corners have been made since my last visit which has impacted the food.

We recently visited Bangrak Thai for a company meal with 17 people. The experience was fantastic from start to finish. We were seated upstairs in a large, comfortable room that provided a perfect setting for a group gathering. Instead of opting for a set meal, we ordered from the menu, which allowed us to enjoy a variety of dishes. Every plate looked amazing, and the quality was consistent across the board. I personally had the tom yum with prawns, and the chilli beef—both were excellent, bursting with authentic Thai flavours and perfectly cooked. The environment was warm and welcoming, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and efficient, ensuring the meal ran smoothly despite the size of our group. Highly recommended for both large groups and smaller outings. A wonderful spot for delicious Thai food and great hospitality.

I have ordered Tom yum Chicken soup & Pad Thai delivery was fast & the food was very hot however the Tom yum I have tried in so many Thai restaurants across the world in-fact Thai food is so personal to me . I traveled a lot dine in places like benjarong, udon Thai , little Bangkok etc . Thai kitchen dubai , hence I know the soup which I received yesterday it was not authentic Tom yum . It was fully overpowered by lemon grass I don’t get the right tangy taste which normally you can taste on your palate it was missing. It was taste literally like chicken clear soup & looks as-well . Pad Thai was same again I couldn’t find any eggs I saw the Ratings for this I ordered . It’s not my expected Pad Thai which I was looking for . I really need to say the prawns cooked perfectly in this . However the pad Thai was not a Pad Thai it was sweet enough plain flat noodles with sprinkles peanut . I never thought of ordering dessert somewhere else !

The restaurant has good Thai food selection. We order a tom yum soup, vegetable fritters and 2 chicken pad Thai. The food tasted nice, the soup was mild even though it was labelled spicy. The fritters were nice and crispy. The Pad Thai was nice as well. But overall the food we were served was not hot. The service was also a bit slow as the restaurant was crowded.

For an excellent Thai food experience at an affordable price, this place stands out. Their Green Curry Fried Rice is a must-try — flavorful, aromatic, and a unique twist on a classic dish. The Tom Kha Soup, rich with coconut milk and brimming with vegetables, is another standout, offering a hearty and comforting taste. 😁

Great Thai restaurant serving delicious food. The som tum, despite the absence of papaya, was hot (spicy!), fresh and very flavoursome. The tom yum was delicious and our mains (pad kee Mao and the Penang) were great too. Also, while it wasn't on the drink menu, they made us Thai milk tea when we enquired if it was available. The staff were lovely, the food was great and and I would 100% return, as well as recommend this restaurant to others :)

Maybe I chose badly but I felt like the Thai red curry was basically almost the same as Tom Yum Gai except the Tom Yum Gai had a few mushrooms in it. I spent almost GBP 25 and felt hungry afterwards - there was barely any chicken in either dish. The Thai red curry could have done with some more vegetables too - the liquid to non liquid ratio was totally off. There wasn't much rice either. It's also annoying getting a 10 percent service charge added. Can't remember if that was shown on the menu but if it was it wouldn't have been clearly shown.

The food was very poor - the worst Thai I have ever been presented with. The starters lacked any real content - the menu indicated that we could expect at least some meat and seafood, but it was primarily vegetables cooked in greasy batter. My main was shown as the spiciest item on the menu, but lacked any spice. I had to request extra chilli. My wife's meal was so poor she ate virtually none of it - again it was greasy and lacked the content indicated on the menu. This really was the worst example of Thai food - I have eaten plenty and it is my favourite food. Consequently, my evening was spoilt by this pathetic offering.

We had eaten at this restaurant during a previous short visit to Newcastle , when we stayed the nearbye Copthorne Hotel . This time we had to settle for a hotel on the South/ Gateshead embankment but were determined to make the 30 walk to the Bangrak . It is quite a small compact and quite informal restaurant , but it provides an excellent level of hospitality and standard of food, which is very good value for money . We had Gong Pong Gari Prawn dish and Gong Pong Tamarind both delicious , with sides of mixed veg and Jasmin Rice. Some of the small tables are quite close together which might reduce you level of privacy but it didn't bother us. Thai staff and restaurants seem to set the bar high in this country and Bangrak was so good we went back the next night. £36.50 food costs plus 2 drinks.

Nice cosy restaurant with some lovely Thai décor. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Few things let the experience down. The food was quite bland and not freshly cooked. The Thai fishcakes were so tough and reminiscent of boil in the bag. The trip to the bathroom was lined with stock that was waiting to be either put away or lacking space elsewhere. Rather costly for the experience.

so i've been to Bangrak twice now - the first time was prime dinnertime on a Saturday and the second was a casual Wednesday just after 5pm, both equally as pleasant. i tried a decent selection of dishes from the starters and in my honest opinion, none really stood out. we ordered the crispy fish sauce chicken wings, the fishing basket and spring rolls and all seemed a bit too oily, the flavour was there but we couldn't escape from the grease but that might have been my indecisiveness wreaking havoc and poor pickings were made. i then gladly dived head first into their tom yum soup as this was the star of the show and soon i forgot about any lacklustre appetisers - very flavourful and rich, far from the stuff you get out of a jar! if this was the soup i had to drink for the rest of my life, i think i'd be okay with that. another mention is their massaman curry with tender bits of beef and potatoes in a sweet mild curry sauce - may be biased but i dont care, anytime there's potatoes stewed in a curry sauce, i'm gonna like it because potatoes are god-tier vehicles for flavour and this massaman was no exception to that fact. would definitely go to Bangrak again.

Went here because Mantra Thai was closed and fancied a pad Thai. The restaurant itself is lovely, staff are friendly but service is slow to say the least. Started off well with great prawn crackers and a peanut sauce, however downhill from there. The crispy beef starter had zero flavour, the sauce that came with it was again bland. The pad Thai wasn’t like any pad Thai I’ve ever had, way too much sauce making the noodles like mush, too sour no balance of flavour. Really disappointing throughout, I get the feeling the food is being toned down for British pallets, as everything just lacked the explosive flavour you associate with Thai food! Will stick to Mantra in future, more expensive but definitely worth the extra!

We didn't have a reservation but were able to get a table at around 6.15 on a Thursday. We hadn't seen that there was a special early bird promotion until 6.30, but the staff advised about it. We chose from the early bird menu - £15.50 for two courses from a good range of dishes. The food was excellent - chicken satay, spring rolls, pad thai and - all exceptional - and we have visited Thailand many times. The som tam salad was 90% carrot but redeemed by a very tasty dressing so I finished it. But may as well just call it "carrot salad"! The pad thai was gloopy and I thought had a good whack of tomato ketchup in it. I lost the will to finish it. Service was nice enough and as it was the third Thai place I had stuck my head into, the decor was at least the nicest. As in many British restaurants the space in quite small. However I got a table near the window. They have a wide variety of starters, main courses and desserts. I ordered the Thai fishcakes to start which were well prepared and tasty. Not too greasy. Then I had the Goong Pad Pong Gari which was delicious. I found the flavours very authentic. Still an excellent restaurant!

Went here upon reccommendation from a friend. Service was great, prices for city centre were very reasonable , and the food was fresh, full of flavor and plentiful. I'll be back here as soon as I can be. Highly reccommended!

It has the best Pad Thai. It is best you go early so you could enjoy the place and the special early bird menu.

It's hard to judge nice idea but it's easy to spend loads by mistake.

Well worth a visit whilst in Newcastle. An intensive menu of Asian and oriental dishes with some unique fusion. A must try the duck with mango salad and the spicy chicken starter. Delicious.

We seem to get the exact same sauce no matter what we order. We thought it was a fluke or an accident the first time, but the second time became the last time we ordered here unfortunately 👎

Very good meal for 2 people for about £30. Tasty, savoury meat and Japchae. Friendly staff. Can't wait to come back.
