Liked it, had a very nice pork dish to start, followed by a Thai green curry chicken rice dish, very nice as well. Service was great.

A small restaurant but fantastic food. Hadn’t booked but we got a table around 2000. Staff were very pleasant and the menu was very interesting. I’m not that familiar with Thai food so without a defined favourite I made a selection from the description having a starter and main. Wow, fantastic. The food was fresh and full of flavour. Portions were generous and hot straight from the pan. Absolutely loved it I would make a point of visiting again when I’m back. Surprisingly the Pinot Grigio went well with the meal.

We had eaten at this restaurant during a previous short visit to Newcastle , when we stayed the nearbye Copthorne Hotel . This time we had to settle for a hotel on the South/ Gateshead embankment but were determined to make the 30 walk to the Bangrak . It is quite a small compact and quite informal restaurant , but it provides an excellent level of hospitality and standard of food, which is very good value for money . We had Gong Pong Gari Prawn dish and Gong Pong Tamarind both delicious , with sides of mixed veg and Jasmin Rice. Some of the small tables are quite close together which might reduce you level of privacy but it didn't bother us. Thai staff and restaurants seem to set the bar high in this country and Bangrak was so good we went back the next night. £36.50 food costs plus 2 drinks.

I am so glad I popped in here for dinner while staying overnight in Newcastle! Absolutely brilliant little place, welcoming to a lone diner, subtle delicious flavours, polite, speedy and charming staff, gorgeous and relaxed ambience, quiet but in a nice chilled out way. Very highly recommended - I felt bad that they processed my bill so efficiently that I didn’t get a chance to add a tip and was caught without cash!!! I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town, well worth the return trip :)

Went to the Quayside Market on Sunday afternoon and saw this was open. I do like Thai food so went for lunch. I had the Prawn Pad Thai which was the best I have ever tasted, lovely prawns and a very tasty dish overall. My girlfriend had the Panang which I sampled and was also really tasty. Will be difficult to choose between the two (or something different) when I return (soon!) and sample some of the starters as well. Great location, great service and reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

Nice cosy restaurant with some lovely Thai décor. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Few things let the experience down. The food was quite bland and not freshly cooked. The Thai fishcakes were so tough and reminiscent of boil in the bag. The trip to the bathroom was lined with stock that was waiting to be either put away or lacking space elsewhere. Rather costly for the experience.

so i've been to Bangrak twice now - the first time was prime dinnertime on a Saturday and the second was a casual Wednesday just after 5pm, both equally as pleasant. i tried a decent selection of dishes from the starters and in my honest opinion, none really stood out. we ordered the crispy fish sauce chicken wings, the fishing basket and spring rolls and all seemed a bit too oily, the flavour was there but we couldn't escape from the grease but that might have been my indecisiveness wreaking havoc and poor pickings were made. i then gladly dived head first into their tom yum soup as this was the star of the show and soon i forgot about any lacklustre appetisers - very flavourful and rich, far from the stuff you get out of a jar! if this was the soup i had to drink for the rest of my life, i think i'd be okay with that. another mention is their massaman curry with tender bits of beef and potatoes in a sweet mild curry sauce - may be biased but i dont care, anytime there's potatoes stewed in a curry sauce, i'm gonna like it because potatoes are god-tier vehicles for flavour and this massaman was no exception to that fact. would definitely go to Bangrak again.

Went here because Mantra Thai was closed and fancied a pad Thai. The restaurant itself is lovely, staff are friendly but service is slow to say the least. Started off well with great prawn crackers and a peanut sauce, however downhill from there. The crispy beef starter had zero flavour, the sauce that came with it was again bland. The pad Thai wasn’t like any pad Thai I’ve ever had, way too much sauce making the noodles like mush, too sour no balance of flavour. Really disappointing throughout, I get the feeling the food is being toned down for British pallets, as everything just lacked the explosive flavour you associate with Thai food! Will stick to Mantra in future, more expensive but definitely worth the extra!

For Thai people who are traveling or working for a short period of time, this shop is highly recommended. I happened to find a nearby restaurant. The brothers and sisters provide very good service. Bangrak Thai is well worth a visit, We started with some sharing plates of Squid, Belly Pork and Bangrak Samplers, all the starters were freshly cooked and tasted beautiful, we then had an intermediate course of Tom Yum Soup, I’d really recommend the soup. Just loved the food. Had dinner with a friend few days back and it was a very comforting meal. The waitress who attended to us was not the friendliest to be honest. But the food made up for her kindaf rude service. We tried the massaman curry with sticky rice. The food and the presentation was really interesting. We throughly enjoyed the food the beef was tender and flavorful. The dish had potatoes and even those little potato pieces were so yum.

We noted how many Thai restaurants there seemed to be in Newcastle city centre, but we liked the look of this very small (22 covers) restaurant close to the Tyne Bridge. We didn't have a reservation but were able to get a table at around 6.15 on a Thursday. We hadn't seen that there was a special early bird promotion until 6.30, but the staff advised about it. We chose from the early bird menu - £15.50 for two courses from a good range of dishes. The food was excellent - chicken satay, spring rolls, pad thai and - all exceptional - and we have visited Thailand many times. The service was excellent - attentive without being overbearing in any way. If it wasn't our last night in the city, we would have certainly returned. Highly recommend

Nice food. It is a bit price though. One small bow of rice costs almost 3 pounds, and 12 pounds curry doesn’t even include rice. Can’t believe I have to pay them separately. A bit disappointing that they don’t have any dessert menu, but with a full drink menu. Seems more like a Thai restaurant for mostly white people but they do have Thai people work there.

I am only not marking this place 2 stars as only tried 2 dishes on the menu which is not necessarily representative. The som tam salad was 90% carrot but redeemed by a very tasty dressing so I finished it. But may as well just call it "carrot salad"! The pad thai was gloopy and I thought had a good whack of tomato ketchup in it. I lost the will to finish it. Service was nice enough and as it was the third Thai place I had stuck my head into, the decor was at least the nicest. But now I will never know if the other 2 places would have been better choices on the food front!

Was greeted by a really polite and kind young waiter. He made my evening even easier when he helped me chose, as I was alittle unsure on what to order. My evening sadly started off with some really impolite customers and was really glad they left shortly after I sat down. The really inmate setting is perfect for this restaurant, however I wish they were playing some nice authentic music rather than music you'd hear in really posh establishment, as it did not fit this special little gem. All food was presented really well! The Satay Skewers starter was epic and probably the tastiest Satay recipe I have tasted! I was alittle unsure about the Duck (Ped Pad Khing) as it was sadly alittle fatty but still tender and not chewy. I decided to also try the Duck Red Curry (Gang Dang Pad) and was thrilled to see they had a Tapas sized portions, as it was a lovely side with the Thai Jasmine Rice! The most surprising part of my evening was desert. I never really had a tradition Thai Desert so I thought I would try the Banana in Coconut milk. I was alittle skeptical at first but I shouldn't have been as it was beautiful! Overall I highly recommend visiting!

So thank you 😊 And onto the food, this was really very nice and we loved every dish, credits to the chef, it was nicely flavored/spiced and the chilli just enough to give that kick you want without taking from the taste. We particularly liked the lime chicken wings, and i really enjoyed my chilli beef with sweet and sour sauce, that was a bit addictive for me, i could have just had 3 portions of that.
