St. Sushi in Newcastle upon Tyne

Been here a couple of times now, lovely and fresh sushi, a hidden gem! Swift service and fairly priced.

Decent sushi. Reasonable prices. OK service. The Tokyo Set had everything I wanted.

I absolutely loved the food, the people were also very kind and polite. The service was prompt. I would definitely be visiting again. The star of the show was the sushi

Good usushi, although not super tasty. Service should be a little better. But in general it's an ordinary place.

We waited for the food for 45 minutes, but the food was very disappointing, the grilled eel was cold and fishy, ​​the miso soup was brought out before the main dish and was also very cold, the noodles were also cold, the staff even forgot to bring ginger. out, but because we were so disappointed we ate quickly and went home. Really good food, authentic Japanese dishes for a great price. Ambience is really good and the staff are polite and helpful. Service is top notch.

Been a while since our last visit however it was as good as ever, if not better. Tried a few things we haven't had before and everything was delicious.

Food is good and yea it’s probably one of the best Japanese foods u can find around there and the atmosphere is great the service is good just a bit slow but over all really enjoyable

Wow! Sushi was absolutely amazing, really good value and very fresh. Service was really quick and staff were quite nice. Ordered the tokyo set and it was really impressive. Wakame salad and fried chicken with the mayo were two really great sides.

I tried the chicken katsu Don and karage, both were very good. The katsu had quite the mix of flavours. Highly recommended.

I ordered beef gyudon and it was £33 through Uber eats for two beef gyudon and one chicken side, the beef gyudon was bland and they forgot to add the sauce and eggs as it is in authentic Japanese gyudon, and the portion was very small for the price, I much prefer stixs Asian kitchen as they make it the authentic way.

The second time we visited the place and we were not disappointed. Delicious then, delicious now. Well worth visiting

First time trying this restaurant, the food choices was much better than I expected. Staff and service was really exceptional. Very good menu, not just sushi. If you haven't tried Japanese food, I would recommend this place to try first.

Very good service. My friend had gift vouchers and we have always wanted to come here and we definitely will be back.

The sushi was excellent, and the staff did have knowledge and awareness for coeliac disease. It was pricey but to be expected for sushi. There were limited vegetarian options for my friend.

You can eat watery sashimi outside, and the sushi is really good; the price is not higher than others. The waiters each have language talents and can communicate. There are often many customers.

Really nice menu and friendly staff. Had Katsu Noodles, plenty of noodles and chicken/veg. Will visit again!

I love this place so much, really good food and really good prices alongside that, and really sweet staff, and the best matcha green tea ice cream I think I’ve ever had, the salmon teriyaki here is the best I’ve had in the UK

First time in this amazing place and really take my belly for an amazing trip in heaven. We had 3 plates of sushi with prawn, chicken & Philadelphia cheese all three were amazing. We love sushi and we have eaten in different places in the world and this place gets the second place on the world list but the first in all UK as is amazing fresh, inspired and fulfilling as each bite you enjoy all the amazing flavors without any overtake the other. I definitely recommend eating in this place is the Best. Sorry for no photo food but it was too amazing to wait 😀

Brilliant, lovely food, lovely atmosphere - nice and chill and not busy when we were there. Staff were excellent and the menu gives you so much choice, we'll be heading back there again very soon. Definitely recommend

Tried the salmon tamarizushi and the gold junmei sake on my most recent visit, absolutely delicious! As always the staff are very attentive and informative about the dishes, I always feel very looked after when I dine here. If you enjoy Asian fusion food, St Sushi is a great choice.

Friendly atmosphere, staff are always very attentive and helpful. I've been ck ing to this particular restaurant for years, and am always happy to eat good quality sushi. Great location for eating out in the city, parking is available easily. Bathrooms are clean, and hygiene of the restaurant is always good. Great location, whether you're eating alone, as a couple, or with your family. Most likely, the best place for sushi in Newcastle upon tyne. Price is average for sushi places around the city. However, the quality of the fish is definitely the best here.

I don’t think Newcastle has the best sushi scene but St Sushi is amongst the better ones! Good quality sushi and a reasonable price - have been back several times since as we do like the food here! The hot plates are very good actually - enjoyed the katsu and some of the Japanese wok dishes! Worth trying

Food is fine but the online menu (ubereats) doesn't list ingredients in sushi. If you're unlucky you might end up with 2/3 of a platter being inedible if there's an ingredient you really dislike, and (obviously) there's no way to ask staff what's in the food.

A great restaurant! The menu is huge with so much choice. It was so hard to pick a meal, but what I had was exceptional. I hope to be back to try the rest of the menu.

While the sushi was delicious and the service prompt, I was disappointed with the gyoza I ordered. Unfortunately, the inside was still cold, which detracted from an otherwise enjoyable meal. Despite this setback, I appreciate the overall effort and will give them another chance in the future.

The eel bowl was delicious! The tempura and fried chicken were ok. I'm happy to be able to eat real Japanese food after a long time (^ω^)

What a gem! The staff were so polite and gave us plenty of time to order etc. we were sat upstairs and had a view of the chefs prepping the meals which added to the already great atmosphere. The food was gorgeous, we ordered a ramen bowl, sharing sushi platter, and a tempura crab; everything was 10/10. An added bonus, Asahi on draught! 😄 A no brainer, will definitely be returning when we’re next in Newcastle!

Attended here with my brother for my 30th. Overall the food was excellent, however was let down by the service. Having to flag down members for attention for them to walk past to another table to ask how their meal was instead put a bit of a downer on the meal. The food however was phenomenal as expected. Will be back to try the other delicious offerings

Tasty food, well presented, but not spectacular, nothing was bad, nor particularly good. The place is nice although it was a little cold and the waitresses were a little slow.

Lunchtime visit and we had the Seafood wok fried noodles, Mini assorted tempura, Yaki enoki Niku, Pork gyoza, Scallop dynamite,, Seared tuna sesame and Spicy tuna tempura maki along with a cocktail, beer and a small jug of Saki. Apart from the Spicy Tuna and seafood Noodles which were still very nice, and the other dishes were very good. The scallop dynamite had a lovely kick to it. The Gyozas were really good and the Tempura dishes were light and crispy. For the food and drink we had I was surprised at the cost which I thought was very reasonable.

Got takeaway. Food wasn't bad but very overpriced. Wouldn't order here again as it felt like a bit of a rip off.

My favourite place to eat in Newcastle. Just the best food, reasonable prices for a treat, and great drinks options. Fabulous service always, and the servers always remember that myself and my friend are vegan. I love St Sushi!

Very nice and fresh food. There are literally dozens of food options, really complete sample of the Japanese cooking, so you are probably going to find whatever you wanted to eat there. The taste is amazing. The restaurant’s environment is also quite nice and the price is fair. I had the salmon deal + Miso soup, which was a very good price and very nice combination.

This is one of the best places for sushi in Newcastle. The sushi is high quality and tasty. We have always had great meals here and love this restaurant. The tempura prawns are light and crispy and the food is always fresh. There is also a large selection of items available on the menu. A must visit for anyone looking for a casual sushi restaurant serving brilliant food.

Came here for the sushi... Tried everything but sushi. There are so many options on the menu, from soups, wok dishes, sushi and more (I wanted to try it all). There are plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians. Service was fast and the staff were very polite. The restaurant is nicely lit with relaxed decor. IT was a little noisy even though it wasn't busy, but this is out of their control. I guess some of the other customers were feeling a little too festive. I would recommend trying St Sushi and I will definitely be back to work my way through that menu!

One of the best salmon sashimi cuts in the UK. Would recommend Tokyo Set for the combination of sushi and sashimi. Tonkatsu is very juicy too. Can get asahi tab here.

We visited here a few years ago and as we were craving sushi decided to give it another go. The teriyaki salmon is amazing, for the price too you get 2 fillets. Really enjoyed the wakame salad and as expected the sushi was fantastic. Recommended.

Visited on a Friday lunchtime and we have been to several Japanese restaurants before. We were shown to a table as soon as we went in and the service throughout the meal was friendly and efficient. There were a few other guests - the restaurant was not full and could easily accommodate walk-ins. The menu is very extensive and could be a bit overwhelming if you dont know what type of food you want or like. There is a decent selection of Japanese beer, sake and wine. We selected Edamame (cold and is better warm), Gyoza, tempura, and a selection of sushi. Whilst it is not the best Japanese food we have had, the overall quality was fine and is worth a visit.

Really good food, not just sushi but a whole range of Japanese delights. The menu is huge, and everything we had was lovely, particularly the super-light tempura. Me and my friend had a really nice time at the restaurant. We ordered 2 bento boxes and some extra sushi to share. We also ordered 2 drinks with our food, but nothing came out even after the food came out, we had to then remind the waiter that we had ordered them. Abit disappointing because if your paying for not the cheapest of drinks you expect it to be brought up fairly quickly. Chopsticks are already set on tables before arriving however maybe have forks available aswell, as not everyone can use chopsticks. The chopsticks were very beautiful and you could tell they were not cheap! When it came to getting the bill me and my friend were abit disappointed that we couldn’t use our student discount unless we payed with cash. This was abit of a shame as the cash machines are not near the restaurant at all! I had £45 in cash however our bill came too £54 with student discount. We were told we had to pay the full amount of £59 since it wasn’t all in cash! This was disappointing as students don’t tend to carry cash and only use there card. Would be nice if student discount was allowed on collection orders aswell! Wont stop me going back as it is most definitely the best sushi in Newcastle!

The food was good in general. We ordered the 72 pounds niguiri board and it was the one that was not so good, so a little bit disappointed as we expected that for that price would be as good as the rest we ordered like the bentos, katsu curries and noodles. That last ones were very good and also reasonable price. We would get back, but the 72 pounds sushi board never more.

I liked this place, the bento boxes were tasty and all the food was pretty good. I'd recommend it to people for decent Japanese food. It also has a few Korean items.

Been going to St Sushi Newcastle for about 12 years and always loved it , always used to be my favourite place for sushi until today. I like Yokohoma set which I ordered on numerous occasions as I do like a mixture of salmon and tuna sashimi as well as selection of other rolls. The set came in without tuna. I asked the waitress that we may have been given the wrong set. I was assured the set was correct but they don't always have tuna like today that's why they not always serve it. I said there is no description of the set and you have to rely on thr picture in the menu to make a choice . She said she understand but now because we already touched the set she can't change it. I asked if they have tuna available today ,she said it was but not for this set. I asked if she could bring the tuna which is missing she said she'll speak to the kitchen. She came back and said that unfortunately she can't. Basically the if to order tuna sashimi it would cost me £8.50 but they simply didn't add it to the set which should have it. I felt scammed and very disappointed. It did put me off coming back to thus place

Some of the best sushi we have tasted! It is on the more expensive side so I was a bit unsure at first however I feel it was worth the cost. The service was friendly and efficient, can’t wait to return.

1st time eating here with my daughter and WOW !! The food was amazing, so much choice and everything we ordered was delicious and cooked perfectly. The staff were the friendliest and nicest people I’ve ever been served by making the whole experience perfect, can’t wait to go back.

Wasabi and soy sauce is limited, it should be available freely and left on the table, as it used to be.
