The food is usually beautiful and have been here many times before but today I was very disappointed with the service and the food. I ordered 2 sandwiches and 2 cakes, same as always, but this time noticed something being added to my sandwich. I asked what she’d added to be abruptly told, “Pepper. Why?” I said I was just asking, to which I was told, “if you don’t want something adding, you need to tell me or I just do my own thing.” How ridiculous, I order what food I want not what I don’t want. Who goes to a cafe and asks, “can I have a sausage sandwich please but no pepper!” Condiments should be added by the consumer to their taste. I gave it a go anyway but the pepper was too overpowering, so I went back and ordered and paid for a second sandwich. Instead of an apology, I was told they always add pepper (which they’ve never done before), and that I need to tell them if I don’t want anything added to my food! Basically I was made to feel at fault for their mistake. Anyway if you go here and don’t want pepper on your sandwich, you need to ask for no pepper, apparently.

We have patronised The Larder for over 5 years, visiting once per month when over in the area on business. On our last visit we ordered two teas as well as meals. I asked if my pot of tea could have an extra tea bag as I find their brand too weak for my taste. The waitress told me to let it stew a bit. I repeated that I would prefer two tea bags and if it was a problem on this occasion I was happy to pay for it. However when the bill came I was horrified that I had been charged £3.00 for the extra tea bag and was reluctantly refunded £l.50. Needless to say we will not be patronising the establishment again. I just hope the lady sat with her dog didn't dare to ask for a bowl of water for it.

The sandwiches are really good, excellent selection and great quality, coffee is also very nice and freshly ground - one of the best in the area. The only thing which we didn’t like was the new lady serving at the counter came over a little bit rude during service.

this is not the first time this has happened, called through to make a large order to be greeted on the phone with rude staff, like everything was a problem to them, even staff shouting in the back ground that they are too busy, will not be trying again in the future

Amazing food, the salad boxes are to die for alongside the wraps and sandwiches. The owner and the staff were so friendly and helpful & knowledgable on what to recommend. By far the best deli in West Yorkshire, will definitely be returning

Food was nice and if it was t for the rude and helpful front of house staff we would go back. You expect them to be helpful and friendly and they were far from this!

Attitude from the very young manager and lacks experience of good customer service as she runs out to ask my husband after spending £40 with our kids.she shouts you didnt pay for your extra rosti stack when it had been paid in full by myself.it was only when her employee stop her and said she paid for everything she walks away without apologising. just a silly smile and sarcastic thank you good bye when I went back in to speak to the manager. this has been the second time she said this wont be giving you our custom again. This is the way your business will slowly lose more and more customers each today.feel bad for your employees if you speak to your customers that are the reason you have a business your attitude towards staff must be appalling.

Great place to stop in Sowerby Bridge for lunch. We had the Thai soup and Bacon, Brie and Cranberry sandwich - very tasty. Good coffee too and lovely staff. Comfortable space to stay and eat or have food prepared to go.

I was in the cafe Friday mid-morning and witnessed one male customer verbally abusing another female customer after he had been respectfully asked to lower his voice, and the staff ( all young people) just stood there watching and smirking. I am not a fan of this cafe to start with: over priced and smells like a greasy spoon cafe when cooking the bacon meals, but I enjoyed( or did) a quiet coffee at times. The manager/owner did appear at one point but wasn’t interested in the distressed customer. I certainly wouldn’t go back if that is the way confrontation is dealt with. Shame really.

Not a bad cafe, compact is a good word for the place. Food is cooked to order so you need to be willing to wait. Ordered Egg's Benedict on Sourdough, and Americano Coffee. Personally I found the Sourdough to be over toasted, Egg's Benedict was ok. Worth a visit if you in the area. Good choice of menu items.

Good food presented well and fairly reasonable. Drawbacks are unfortunately it is very compact and can be noisy, despite requests coffee remains unpleasant.

Called in here for a Thursday lunchtime. It was deservedly full of discerning local folk. My food was excellent, home cooked to order. Potato rosti with mushrooms and topped with a fried egg and herb garnish. £5.50! A culinary delight. My friend had a wonderful sandwich of Brie, olives and hummus The staff were friendly . I thoroughly recommend!

This deli serves excellent, very reasonably priced food. The poached eggs with feta, avocado and sun-dried tomatoes are delicious. The selection of cakes is also excellent. It's also open on Sundays, so a great choice for brunch and is I believe also dog friendly.

Food is exactly what you’d expect from a spoons - good enough and the price is right. Can confirm they can pour a pint of Guinness. Lovely building.

We were here as a family, twice in one week as we were on holiday. Both times the staff were very friendly and helpful, the service was spot on and the food was very nice - couldn’t fault it. The location is great for chilling, having a few drinks and relaxing with family. We sat outside on the Monday and indoors on Thursday and it was comfortable, clean and friendly. The children enjoyed looking at the locks and seeing the canal boats. Parking was opposite the restaurant. Our food was served hot and it was well presented. There were six of us and we all ordered different dishes so it wasn’t that easy for the kitchen but it all arrived at the same time and was delicious. The staff went the extra mile for our group which we appreciated , once to give our youngest a take-away dessert as we had to leave before he had time to eat it and then later in the week, giving us some bread for the children to bait their new fishing lines. We would definitely return to The Moorings when we’re in the area.
