Alright to call in for a couple of cheap beers

Bit dark inside but nevertheless a nice Spoons

Bit weird that kids were still running round at 745 when the football was on but the service and the burgers were bang on

Service was exceptionally quick ordered food from app just basic food nothing special

Just stopped for a quick drink before dinner. Busy for a Monday evening. Decent prices.

Do not try to order more than 1 drink at a time. I ordered 3 drinks. Bacardi n coke gin n lemonade and an archers n lemonade. I noticed he put vodka. So asked a female barmaid to let him know. He then proceeded to change it to bacardi. The archers was correct. The bacardi then was given to me with lemonade in which I asked him to change it to coke. He was rude asking what's the problem now. I told him and he stated. You either wait n drink it or leave.. we left.. customer service is crap....never again will I step foot in this place. We came from Cleckheaton witherspoon where the service and staff were anazing

Took the train to Halifax for a Bill Bailey gig and decided to do the local Spoons beforehand as the food & drink prices inside the Piece Hall (like all major event venues these days) are outrageously expensive. Ham, egg and chips plus a decent pint of Three Swords was less than a tenner. Job done. As Wetherspoons pubs go. The Barum Top is not one I'd recommend. The staff are friendly, the food and drink is good but the atmosphere gets a grat big fat zero. It served its purpose.

Wetherspoons the same everywhere you go reasonably priced and not bad pub food.

Fiesta brunch does exactly what it says, nice mushroom, poached egg (even though bought in) salsa and the other stuff. Only complaint the cheese is a bit naff. But for the price can’t complain

Visited this place last Friday and even though the place was nt exactly busy I was still stood waiting over ten minutes to be served. I felt that the two working behind the bar where deliberately ignoring and serving customers that came in after me and even when a lovely lady informed the bar girl that I was before she seemed somewhat hostile and unfriendly. Usually it's not too bad in the barum a typical wetherspoons and I don't remember saying or doing anything wrong iwas just made to feel very uncomfortable.

On the way to this pub from the hotel (I was in Halifax to see Air), the taxi driver described this as "an OK Wetherspoons". I thought it was more than OK. The beer was good. Good service too. Nice burgers. Lots of decent size telly to watch the Euros and it seemed fairly busy. The toilets were on the ground floor too, which is always a plus in a Wetherspoons 😁

Fast service great staff was on a hen of 12 managed to get a table food was very nice and very fast

As spoons go, this one is actually quite nice. Classic spoons atmosphere but in a lovely building, very clean and has lots of space over three floors. Food was nice and staff were quite friendly.

Cheap alcohol but 9/10 takes forever and a day to get serviced so end up walking out when stood there still waiting 10 minutes later

Decor quite dated now.Could do with a re-fit.

Typical Weather spoons pub - huge with plenty of tables. Had the chicken wrap, which was tasty.

Great Spoons pub. Good beer, friendly staff, good food , duty manager came to table to ask if food all ok. Really good atmosphere. Visiting from Rochdale , going to a gig at square arts theatre. 👍

It's a typical Wetherspoons pub but there's nothing wrong with that. Wednesday night, good vibe, football on the big screen if that's your thing. Quick visit for food and a drink.

It's cheap it's cheerful the toilet isn't a million steps away like most weatherspoons . We like it always start our night of there .

Went to The Barum Top after a morning in Halifax. We were hungry, that was certain. Myself, my wife and daughter ventured in and found a very busy pub. We eventually found a seat up on the second floor and scanned the menu. I ordered a burger, my wife plumped for a chicken tikka masala and little ‘un went for the chicken parts in a basket, or whatever ‘Spoons calls the option. The food arrived, delivered to our table by an extremely friendly server who had no idea what was to come… The burger was the usual ‘Spoons fair, tasty and cheap. The curry was excellent and then… The chips that came with the basket of body parts were cold, not tepid, they were very cold indeed. Our daughter was not impressed, having issues with food at the best of times, cold chips were like a death in the family. We called over the server and explained that the chips were colder than a penguin’s flippers and she hurried away with them… A few minutes later the chips arrived in a bowl and daughter tucked in. A small yelp followed by a muffled scream alerted us to the fact that the chips were now hotter than the sun. We instructed her to blow on the chips and were told… ‘I’m fuffing them, I’m fuffing them!!’ And fuffing them she was, she was fuffing them good. She was fuffing them so much that as a father it was my duty to make the point that the chips weren’t THAT hot and were in fact edible. I placed a chip in my mouth and bit in. A volcanic torrent of molten potato hit my tongue and gums like a blow torch of starchy agony. The chips were indeed THAT hot. We left the pub four hours later after the chips had reached an acceptable temperature. The rest of the food, the burger, the curry, the chicken off-cuts were rather tasty. Aside from the third-degree burns, it was an enjoyable visit.

Great Wetherspoons handy for the Piece Hall

Been here 6 times now, and the overall picture is it's consistently one of the worst 3 Wetherspoons's I've ever been in. Not a lot of interest or character in the venue. Filthy tables (went upstairs at the weekend and had to choose the least mucky/cluttered of the 7 empty tables) - they just never clean them it seems. Filthy toilets, absolutely gross encrusted filth on floors in cubicles. Food not great (latest fish and chips, the "fish" was a Y-shaped piece of batter with almost nothing inside!) and there's usually not even any tomato ketchup in the whole place. Pretty much everything about the place is filthy and clapped out. Also, on 3 of my 6 visits, I actually got hassled by someone begging at my table. Not great... The whole place just needs stripping and refurbishing. What a shame they sold off the other 'Spoon in Halifax, The Percy Shaw, back in January. That place was really great, clean, modern and well run. They totally did the wrong thing there.

Friendly service and food here is always good and warm.... One on the best and busy Spoonz in our area! And nice to sit up on the balcony...

Had a traditional breakfast which came quickly. Asked the staff if I could light a candle as it was a friend's birthday and they agreed but blew out quickly due to smoke alarms. The staff were very friendly and wished our friend a happy birthday. Many thanks

Good Breakfast. Always enjoy a breakfast at Wetherspoons and The Barum Top is no exception. Plenty of seating. Wide range of Real Ales and close to Halifax Town Centre.

Far too busy and over crowded for such a busy pub such a small area.

Visited Halifax for the day. Not many places to eat but of course, always a Wetherspoons. Ordered the steak meal, not the standard but one with the extras and sauce. Arrived….OMG! First, overcooked, then tried to eat it, full of gristle, so much so, couldn’t cut it. Both my husbands which was the worst one and mine were terrible. He took his back and asked for a refund. ‘Manager’(?) offered free drinks but husband asked for a refund. Now I get it, the meal came with a drink but was £14.88 in total. Refunded £8.94. Yes, he had his drink but nothing else. I ate what I could. Manager said it’s not the chefs fault. It’s what the company sends and they have to accept it. Well Wetherspoons, shame on you for making the restaurants accept sun standard meat and serving it. So basically, we’ve had virtually no meal at all this evening. A bad end to a lovely, if not wet, day. Thanks Wetherspoons!

Limited menu on currently due to work or something taking place shortly to the kitchen. Nice building and decent staff. Some reason several occasions stuff going to or attempting to go wrong tables on app orders. Stuff not for us offered to us and saw our drinks go past us and were going to go to another table. Possible glitch there. Staff fine in apologies.

Massive thank you to the girl working last night (friday 3rd may) I believe her name was Ellie. I was drunk and in a very bad state and she did everything in her power to look after me and make sure I was safe. I really can't express how much I appreciate it, I just wanted her to know I'm very thankful as it could have been much worse. She only looked young and was very professional and mature, and just such a lovely girl. Thank you Ellie- I promise you won't see me again for a very long time x

Usually there's no problem when we have food or with the service but today we came in and ordered our food and it arrived quickly but the two mega mixed grills I ordered did nt have the sausages as advertised on the menu and when the waitress brought my sisters meal rather than put it down on the table she handed it to her without warning that the plate was hot so today three stars and they only got that because what we got was nice and we was nt waiting two long.

It's a Wetherspoons, so it basically does what it says on the tin. One of the cheaper places to drink in Halifax, and the hand-pulled beer is generally good. The food is at best average, and not as good value as it was a few years ago. Certainly for a breakfast there are better local options, The Shay café being the obvious one. One of the more 'pubby' Wetherspoons, but a dark cavern of a place inside. Overall. Okay.

Exactly what you would expect from a Spoons. Cheap food and beer, quick service, sticky carpets and a mile to the toilet.

I only had cups of tea but was well worth it

Had a lovely dinner there with my son and daughter in law and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere

Standard no-nonsense Wetherspoons!

Just like any other wetherspoons, foods no different but the pub itself is lovely, nice old building

This was a fantastic pub for drinking, with a well laid out, vintage design! The chandeliers and wall decorations contribute to this, counter is well presented too and is actually curved. Me and my friend enjoyed a cocktail pitcher, sitting comfortably at a clean table!

The staff are always friendly with fast service and the drinks are inexpensive but it just feels like the place has gone down hill in the recent years. The toilets are quite grotty and you can smell them when by that end of the bar. Its usually busy though, regardless of the time of day

This must be one of the darkest Wetherspoon's inside. It is in dire need of some more lighting! That aside this evening I chose one of the (discounted ) manager's specials, a chicken burger, with chips and a coffee. The order was efficiently taken and the meal was well cooked and tasted fine.

Speedy service. Food was spot on. Not a crumb left on my plate. And great value as well.

The Barum top is a very nice bar and we have now been in twice the food is delicious and they have a great selection of cider we will call again

Love weatherspoons, value for money. We ordered pizza and soft drinks from the app. Service was quick and food was great.

Went in for a beer and food. Waited at the bar for 10 minutes trying to get served but I obviously wasn't a local so was repeatedly ignored. Decided to use the app. Only the app wasn't working as there was no choice of guest real ale, despite it being 'beer festival ' time. Explained this to a staff member whose response was to return to the bar to order.

One of the better Wetherspoons. Very large and comfortable split level space a with good variety of food and great service and a superb variety of ales lagers and spirits. I should add that the bar staff are excellent. There are the occasional trainees but so what? At least there is an obvious system of training in place. My personal pet hate is walking into a half empty bar with some character absorbed in his or laptop or phone. (Get a lot of that in the South). But here, it's always busy, without getting too messy or threatening around 11 to 1 a.m. (again, lots of that in London). So it's a bit of a godsend for me personally. Good craic, very family friendly and an overall warm, inclusive vibe. Highly recommended IMHO!

Ordered well done bacon sandwich Bacon came pink and sliced bread not the bloomer bread advertised complained about bacon they did do sandwich again however one slice well done rest still pink at this stage gave up asking will just order coffee from now on

It's ok, I did prefer the Plaza Wetherspoons TBH. Toilets here at Barum Top were pretty dire. No steaks left on Steak Club Tuesday.😔 Staff were nice though. The large plant at the entrance did try to 'attack' two of our group on the way in. Kinda reminded us of the one in that 80's BBC kids TV program 'The Adventure Game' 🤔😉 I think the plant was called 'Aspidistra the Rango' or something, maybe you could stick a name plate on it or a voice activated thing saying 'Gronda Gronda'. 🤔 Anyway, glad there wasn't a strange grid we had to cross before a Vortex 'sucked us off' into the abyss. Saying that, there were some odd looking creatures drinking in there maybe lizard people 🤷🏻‍♀️ who knows. 😉😂

Sunday 25th September 2022 This Halifax Weatherspoons on my visit served good food I had a jacket potato with chilli The staff were pleasant, and their choice of beers were great. I did not have a ale because I don't drink alcohol whilst eating Lovely clientele place tidy and ample tables within this weatherspoons Thursday 1st February 2024 Again, i came into this fantastic weatherspoons Today, i came in for a .eal and soft drink I had something on today, so no alcohol I had a beautiful meal and lime and soda gor just over 13 quid see picture on site I am very happy with service and food, etc today

For a Friday night 2 weeks before Christmas I was pleased at how quickly we got served, and the friendliness of the staff. Couldn't stop long as going on to meet friends but went back after for some more drinks. Yes, the tables could have done with being cleared but it was getting late. We went back the following morning and had the traditional breakfast - only meal we generally bother with in a Wetherspoons pub and it was lovely. All nicely cooked and hot which is a bonus. The main thing though was how nice and friendly the staff were - wish all staff could be like that!

Lively busy pub especially being a Saturday around the festive season. Yet they still managed to bring our food orders out to us in absolute record time, so well done to the staff! Great location for anyone visiting city centre places, easily accessible from the train station, Piece Hall, Eureka, etc.

Breakfast, snotty undercooked eggs with runny white, sent back to kitchen and had overcooked burnt crispy egg returned, cold mushroom, cold black cremated bacon received, when asked for refund replied with "I'll see if we can do that" no apologies or customer service..... 3 wetherspoons in the area and this is definitely the worst........
