The Lamb Inn in West Oxfordshire

From the moment you walk through the door, you know you’re in for a great night. A warm welcome by staff, great decor and fabulous food. Pubs often advertise ‘gastro’ but the is the very best hybrid of old fashioned pub and restaurant. My wife enjoyed the cheese soufflé, I am still raving about the generous portion of fantastic, meaty, belly of pork.

What a warm and welcoming team you have! Everyone was kind and seem to really enjoy working at the pub. My husband hasn't been well and was a little cold on arrival - the team made sure he was warm and comfortable. The food was delicious and the general vibe was really cosy - really liked the decor. Would have no hesitation recommending the lamb inn and would like to return following a walk next time.

The Lamb Inn is an excellent restaurant/pub - the best for miles around. We’ve eaten there many times but hadn’t been for several months for some reason. Our meal tonight was delicious but made us regret the interval since our last visit! The menu was terrific, with a great choice of interesting dishes, and we enjoyed all that we chose. Excellent, efficient and delightful service. A lovely ambiance. It’s great.

We visited this restaurant as an early birthday celebration during a weekend away in the Cotswolds. We were seated in the corner of the bar which was a great table, the atmosphere was amazing with dim lighting and a candle on the table adding to the classic intimate country pub experience. I had the steak tartare as a starter which came with a rocket salad and Parmesan shaving, the dish was well rounded and delicate. My girlfriend had the cheese soufflé which was as equally as impressive. For mains we both had the lamb shank, we were told by our very knowledgable and helpful waiter that the lamb was braised for 12 hours. We were not disappointed, the meat fell off the bone and was delicate and tender. The mash was well seasoned and the portion sizes were fantastic. A great autumnal dish which really complimented the restaurant, its atmosphere and the surroundings. We shared a bottle of French red wine which was recommended to suit the dish, the wine was well priced, smooth and served at a great temperature. The whole experience was fantastic and I would recommend the restaurant to anyone wanting good quality traditional food in traditional setting.

What a fabulous visit. Food was outstanding and staff were the friendliest we have encountered recently. Everyone came across as naturally friendly rather than pretending Hake was delicious as was the wine. Don’t hesitate to visit here. Our third visit and first one where we could sit in the garden which was a bonus.

I arrived about 7 and the car park was full. I hoped I didn’t have to book but it appeared very full. I asked the lady if I could get a table for 1. She duly obliged and the rest is history. The pub is beautiful and extremely homely feel. The staff are exceptional and the food amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the ambience.

This lovely spacious pub has everything you need for a family fathering. Cozy yet spacious for a large family gathering. The food was excellent and the menu varied to suit any tastes. Price a little above average but well worthwhile as the elevated flavours and presentation were noteworthy. Service was friendly and efficient without being intrusive.

We came here for lunch as a big group and had the best time. The food was delicious, the service impeccable, and the atmosphere exactly what we were looking for in a foodie countryside pub. As there were ten of us we were asked to preorder our food which was brilliant, since once we arrived all we had to think about was what drinks we wanted. The menu is great and there were plenty of options for the many vegetarians in our group. The starters and mains came out at exactly the right time -- the service was seamless, and though we were taking our time we never felt rushed! Everyone was really happy with their choices, and we'd be so happy to come back. Also there are lovely walks in the surroundings!

The menu is varied. The food is utterly delicious. The Team look after you like family. The buildings - inside and out - are decorated beutifully. The surrounding countryside is stunning. We always bring family and friends when they visit from Australia. This is the quintissential English Country Pub experience everytime. Do yourself a favour and come and enjoy their hospitality. You won't regret it.

Visited here with my wife for an evening meal, server was great really friendly. Starters pretty poor main course was ok, the pie was good but the mash was very runny, hugely overpriced! Atmosphere wasn’t great people sat really close to our table at the bar smoking ecigs not that I’m against people smoking them just not while I’m eating a meal. Final nail in the coffin was them not taking cash which I think is really poor.

The Team looked after our family party 🥳 of 14 admirably. I liked how the 6 children's meals were brought out first. We had 3 aged 6 and under so this was perfect 👌 we had superb service efficient and attentive, despite a busy Sunday lunchtime service. Thank you for making it a special day.

From the minute we walked into The Lamb our experience was wonderful. Paul and the team are so friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is comfortable and cosy and exactly what you’d expect in a traditional Cotswold Inn. The menu is impressive, catering for all tastes and requirements and definitely great value for money. We were at The Lamb to celebrate my Mother-in-Law’s birthday. We all enjoyed our meal immensely and she was treated like a queen! We’ll definitely be back at every opportunity.

The Lamb Inn food, ambience and service is outstanding. We’ve visited several times and each time still surprises us. The menu is reasonably priced, especially given the high quality of our dining experience we’ve had. This was such a delight. We were glad we had reserved a table. The Lamb’s own real ale (3.8 % ) was very enjoyable and set us up well for our starters. Paul and Co front of house service team are great. They were aware of the dishes and guided us through the fantastic menu choices. We started with a shared nibbles. The Spanish olives were massive and sweet flavoured. The homemade hummus was delicious covered with pomegranate seeds. Looked really stunning. One of the party decided to have the classic prawn, avocados, cucumber cocktail with a hen’s egg, land cress with Melba toast. This was such a tasty and interesting starter containing lots of favours. Looked great and tasted even better. After this we focussed on the main course. Following our waiter Paul suggestions three of us went for the Chargrilled calves liver and bacon, with bubble and squeak and beetroot and horseradish relish. Oh my! This was definitely an amazing dish.The liver was so tender.The chargrilled gave it such a unique flavour. The bubble and squeak was crispy on the outside and soft in the centre. We all agreed the best we’ve ever tasted! The crispy streaky bacon was superb and the relish complement the meal so well. Compliment to the chef and his team for an outstanding culinary experience. We certainly will be returning shorty to sample more delicious food from this new menu and enjoy another great day at this welcoming inn

We live about half an hour from Witney, and have enjoyed some of the pubs there before, but had never tried this one, so we thought we'd give it a go for a Sunday roast. Roast can be hit and miss, especially with the beef: you can't really tell how good it is until you tuck in. This was spectacular. Probably the best pub roast I've ever had. Too many places are cutting quality to cut costs (which, to a degree, I understand, with the challenges that he hospitality industry has at the moment), but this was top-notch beef. Tasty, gristle-free and superbly cooked. The meal came to £85 for two of us, including a shared starter, a cocktail and several glasses of sparkling wine. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the vibe of the place is great. We will definitely be back

We found the pub very welcoming on a cold Sunday lunchtime. Both the roasts and the service were excellent. We will definitely be returning soon.

We found this place as we were in the area and just needed some food and a few drinks whilst travelling North. From phoning to check they were open through to leaving it was out standing and one of the best experiences we have had in recent times. Fabulous welcome when we arrived, great table, food was exceptional as was the service. We will definitely be back.

Since relocating to this area, I we have visited The Lamb several times now with family and friends visiting. On our arrival every visit the staff welcome you and immediately make you feel to be a part of their family, I've noticed they do this with ever customer. Once seated, the service staff are friendly, if you have any questions about drinks food they are very helpful and won't point you in the wrong direction, every meal they have recommended and we've gone with has been excellent. The servers and bartenders are absolutely brilliant. We have never had a bad meal and complements to all the kitchen staff. The ambience is really cosy and acoustics are very good. In summer we love to dine outside. If visiting the area and are planning on eating here, book well in advance, The lamb is not big at all and is always nice to busy, we usually book weeks ahead. Lastly, we we had a wonderful New Years diner here this year and loved their 70's theme and music. I would like to thank all the staff for providing us with excellent service, food and always wonderful time. This is one of our favourite restaurants in the UK so don't miss out if in our area.

Absolutely fabulous evening! All staff go out of their way to make you feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was amazing. Best food we've eaten all year. ( pigeon salad, prawn and avocado starters and 2 blades of beef) Despite the place being packed ,food arrived in good time and tables around us cleared in seconds. Well done to all the team. Simply exceptional. The starter, a perfectly prepared double Gloucester soufflé, was just bursting with flavour. Next up was a divinely tender seared gigot of lamb, garlic roast potatoes, salsa verde and rocket, followed by a warm cherry clafoutis (just the right sweetness for my palate) with pistachio ice cream for dessert. It's a toss-up between the soufflé and the clafoutis for my favourite in an outstanding selection but I think the soufflé shades it. Service was polite and helpful without being obsequious and the ambience is tasteful and cosy. A keeper.
