Nice location off the main road with off road parking. Lots of outside tables if the weather is good if it isn't then beware the pub is NOT dog friendly and that's why only 3 stars. From a service perspective as we had a dog and had to sit outside (on wet seats due to early morning rain). There was no offer to even open the outside door as I struggled with 2 pints and 2 packets of crisps to exit the outside door. The pub wasn't busy so would have been nice to have someone open the door

I cannot comment as a place to stay but only as a eatery and drinkery. Pleasant place lovely surroundings good car park , lovely coal fire in the centre of building and good fire alarm, we will get to the last part later. Welcoming staff ( I think the owner ) as well attentive servers, Had a wee drink by the fire before being seated on the other side of the fire, well in a sense there is 3 coal fires , so you are never to far from being warm when they are on. our lovely meal arrived just when the fire alarm went of and we all filed outside the Lamb Inn. It was a nice day so did not hamper our visit and was quite jolly with the other people who when dinning. Meal was lovely when returned. The Bill was a bit short on some drinks , but guess they had just comped them for fire alarm inconvience. Certainly will return as such a lovely place to be.

We visited for the first time today and found the food to be superb and the service excellent. The pub is located just off the main road with some truly stunning views. It wasn’t a particularly nice day weather wise but that didn’t detract for the beautiful view. We were greeted with a friendly welcome. We’d called ahead to book knowing that these kinds of places can easily book out. There were lots of rooms with tables and decorated in traditional styles that were in keeping with the building. The central coal fire was also very welcoming from a dreary day outside! We found an extensive menu with so much choice. Everything from sandwiches and soups to steaks, pies and other pub favourites. I choose the lamb Henry and was not disappointed. The lamb fell off the bone and the mint gravy and mash were perfect accompaniments. My husband opted for a ribeye steak with peppercorn sauce that he thoroughly enjoyed. The portions were also very generous so we felt it was great value for money. We couldn’t fault our visit and will definitely be visiting again.

I cannot comment on the rooms, as I was treated to a meal by a member of my family. I was told that everything they did on the menu was delicious, and there were five of us, who all seemed to agree. I had the Chicken Red Thai Curry, and can without a doubt say it was the most delicious one I have ever had. The only thing I would say was disappointing. Although there was an adequate amount of sauce and meat, the small dome of rice would in no way satisfy you, if in any way hungry. I would advise ordering an extra portion of rice, to make the meal perfect and match the amount of sauce.

We visited here last Sunday, arriving around 2.30pm, and parked our camper van in one of the allocated bays, having pre-booked a space. A courtesy trip to the bar to notify our arrival, and we were greeted by very friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. They were very apologetic as they informed us that they had completely sold out of Sunday lunches, but offered us an alternative menu, from which we ordered, and thoroughly enjoyed, especially as they allow dogs in all areas, so our loved pet accompanied us. Our intention was to stop overnight, but regretfully our circumstances changed whilst there, so this was not possible. We're certainly looking forward to returning in the near future. A lovely pub, lovely staff and owners - very enjoyable.

.....a quiet pub on a Monday evening was just what I need. I had a naive pint of Black Sheep and I ordered bangers and mash from the menu. The young lady who served me and took my order was very pleasant but my meal was no better than average. Having said that, it wasn't expensive, but if it had been served with peas, and a little onion in gravy it would have been so much better and the cost to prepare it would hardly have been affected. There was certainly a generous portion.....but I don't remember ordering lumps in my mashed potato!!

I have never had a wedge of pie with so much meat in it, so tender and tasty. My partner had the fish and chips which was a full fillet of white Haddock ( half portion which was available would have sufficed) and was beautiful. The chips are homemade also. Exclusive wine list at reasonable prices, Peroni on draught and the Black Sheep Bitter was bang on form. Loads of parking, village shop next door and my partner said the toilets were the best she had ever seen. Been back for Sunday Lunch since which was equally as good, homemade Yorkshire Puddings, generous slice of meat (had all 3 as was a choice) and White Chocolate Cheesecake to finish (my partners choice as i was full, had one spoonful, the best cheesecake ever and obviously homemade). Why cant all pubs be like this, welcoming, warm, comfortable, quality food and drink at a reasonable price. Well done to the owners.

As others have said, this makes a great peaceful stopover when on a long journey. We had two dogs with us and had a bit of a walk in the village before settling down for a quiet lunch. Dogs were welcome and the service just right. Shame about the inane "pop" music playing, though I suspect if we had asked (we didn't) they would have turned it down/off. Food was very good and well priced, though my baked potato had been frozen too long before preparation, making its base chewy and inedible. All in all a relaxing break to unwind before stage two of our journey.

Called in with my husband for an early evening meal whilst in the area. Very welcoming landlord (a pleasant change, most are grumpy old buggers these days and make you feel you are doing them a favour by frequenting their establishment!). I'm a bit of a foodie, usually like gastro pubs and restaurants, but now and again there's nothing like a traditional no frills country inn when you're starving and just want feeding ! Waited about 30 mins for steak and deli plate (no problem, landlord gave us a heads up on the wait and it meant a couple of G & Ts went down well in that time !), they weren't busy, so it suggested everything was cooked to order, which is great. Food was hot, plentiful and good value. Some reviewers have said the portions are too large. Well that's better than being too small, so just leave what you can't manage, you're paying for it ! If I were being completely honest, my steak was slightly overcooked to how I had ordered it, but still tasty nevertheless and certainly not a big enough issue to mention. It's not a fancy place by any means, but we wern't looking for that on this occasion so it fitted the bill perfectly. We will definately return when in the area again.

The landlord was really accommodating, giving us plentyo of room to bring my friends baby along and had a few hours there catching up over a few drinks, never felt rushed and the staff were lovely and friendly. Very enjoyable afternoon!

After visiting my Sister and Bro-in-law and Nephews in nearby Ripon yesterday (Bank Holiday Monday), we visitied this brilliant pub/restaurant. We have only been here once before, but the welcome we received from the Landlord was very warm and made us feel at home immediately. We an 11 year old, 8 year old and 7 month old we warmly invited in and our drinks order taken. They were very promptly delivered to our table which was already prepared with a High-Chair for the baby and menus ready. The Landlord kindly took the childrens orders first (so as not to keep them waiting) and gave us some time to look through the plentiful menu. The Food is immense at this Pub, the childrens meal or quite big but not too big, and to be fair an adult would be quite full from a portion, though the Adult meals are amazing. The Steak in Ale pie, is legendary in its size and taste!Topped off with Puddings this is quite the best Pub food that you could wish for....lovingly washed down with a pint of Black Sheep to top it off!Keep up the good work!

Being fairly local we do the 5 min drive from Ripon reasonably often. Sunday Roasts are brilliant value and taste great, with very generous portions. The daily menu is also brilliant and the 'feast for a fiver' on a Wednesday is what it says! The food is not trying to be gourmet, it's just good, honest home cooked food at a very reasonable price served in a welcoming country pub by down to earth, friendly staff. Love it!

On a recommendation we popped in to the Lamb for lunch today - last minute but it was no problem for Steve and Staff. The waitress recommended the Steak Pie so we ordered it. Oh my, it was huge and very very tasty. I have never seen such a huge amount of meat in a pie before this one. It was amazing so I suggested it have the new name I've given this review. It was good value for money and wholesome, tasty pub food. Lovely friendly pub with room to eat outside and enjoy the sunshine. We'll be back for Sunday lunch soon, we heard its every bit as good as the rest of the menu.

We were most impressed with how friendly the publican and staff were. We were made to feel really welcome in this lovely pub/restaurant. The vegetarian menu was unusually extensive which impressed. The pub felt really clean and tidy but still retained the character of a great traditional pub. This was enhanced by the fabulous and friendly service. The menu represented great value for money.

Having searched the net for a pub that serves proper home cooked food not gastro poncy food I found this pub, and boy what a find. I phoned up to reserve a table, no problems at all, when we got there Steve the owner sat us down at a table by the gorgeous log fire. Having looked at the menu we were spoilt for choice.I had the pate and my wife had the garlic mushrooms and both really enjoyed the starters. The mains were equally as good, omg the stake pie really is stuffed full of meat, the veg fresh and the chips are real chips, not overcooked or greasy. My wife had the hunters chicken and she loved it. The portion sizes are huge and certainly don't disappoint. I highly recommend visiting!!

Popped in for Sunday lunch, was late afternoon, luckily the seven till late. Both had roast beef, OK not the best we've ever had, but for the price excellent value.Reasonable amount of vegetables, could always want more.Altogether a reasonable lunch in pleasant surroundings. They also do special offers such as Wednesday feast for a fiver. We'll have to five it a go

The sunday lunch was lovely but was overwhelmed with the price of a glass of wine £6.50. I would have to think twice about going back as the wine was nearly as expensive as the lunch!!! But I must say staff very helpful and pleasant.

Being here twice this month, had an large american platter first visit, more than enough for two people. The mozzarella sticks were out of this world. Then tonight had 1/2 Fish & Chips, mushy peas & bread & butter. No problems for child size portions & having children in. It's got enough floor space to suit everyone & a pool table. See you again soon.

Three of us went for Sunday lunch, the roast dinner is great value, we had lamb and beef and it was cooked perfectly, lovely and tender with two huge home cooked Yorkshire puds, tasty roasts, mash and a selection of 3 veg. It was great value traditional home cooked food, we couldn't fault it. Also had a starter of garlic mushrooms, with warm crusty bread which was also very tasty. The pub was warm, cosy and inviting and the staff were friendly and courteous. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely go back.

We stopped en route up to Newcastle having seen the good reviews and we're glad we did. Food is proper food with lovely local fish and the pub is a proper local pub. You can tell its part of the local community. They welcomed us in and gave us a seat in the bar with our dogs. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting proper food great value and a warm welcome.
