What a hidden gem. Dog friendly, friendly staff, fairly priced. The gammon was nearly the same size as the plate, and they bought over bread and butter to mop the plates up. I wish I could give this 10 stars.

Great family pub stopped off for lunch after a lovely walk around Brimham Rocks which was only a 7minte drive. Sat in the beer garden as the weather was too good... We had the kids hot dog, the carvey and fish cakes (are to die for, so tasty). The portions was great, and the food/service was outstanding. Family/dog friendly place too. We will definately be back. Thank you for a lovely pitt stop to our journey.

Lovely place. Both Timothy Taylor’s landlord AND theakstons best. Two of the best ales in the world - both on cask! Nice pub grub menu - I had the scampi and it was very nice. Dog friendly and had a chat with a couple locals who seemed like a nice welcoming bunch. Landlord and landlady (I think) were nice folk to us. LOVED the thoughtfulness of supplying a small pair of scissors with the condiment packets. I hate opening them things and invariably make a mess. Much more civilised with scissors!

It wasn't a bad pub but there's no real garden, just concrete area right by the road. The food is very expensive and very much hearty winter food, no salads or healthier options. We decided not to eat here because of that. The bar area was full of fat loud men hanging around it, making it hard to order and I was stared at when I arrived by the people at the bar which made me feel a bit uncomfortable. The beer selection seemed to be predominantly Fosters etc although there was a pale ale which wasn't bad. Finally, there is a nice sofa seating area outside but it's next to a very loud fan/extractor and the cushions are quite dirty, so why anyone would want to sit there is beyond me, it's almost like it's there just for show. Wouldn't recommend to be honest, maybe more of a winter pub.

We had the carvery lunch which included generous portions of roast beef, pork, and turkey with Yorkshire pudding, roast and mashed potatoes, veg, and all the trimmings. We were passing through Fellbeck in our motorhome, on our way to Grassington. Our good old sat nav took us on an old roman road to avoid a road closure.... it wasn't a road, it was a track, and as it was raining, it was muddy and wet. Our motorhome succumbed to the mud and we got stuck in a ditch. After getting no joy from our breakdown cover, no joy from a towing service, and being on hold to the police control room for over 30 minutes, I decided to phone the local pub. Colin (the landlord) was brilliant, he managed to find someone with a tractor and someone with a chain, and he came to us with Joe (the tractor man) and Adrian (the pub chef). With great care and attention (and in the dark might I add), they managed to tow us out of the ditch, and we went on our way. As it was now so late, we decided to head to the pub. Colin said we could sleep in our motorhome outside. We went and had a few drinks with Colin, Tracy and Adrian. Sadly Joe couldn't join us, as he was in his tractor and it was too far for him to go. We also decided to book a B&B room for the night. It was so cosy and warm, very comfortable and the breakfast was amazing. These people saved us and we cannot thank them enough. We have already booked to return for New Year celebrations, when we hope to get to sample the main meals as well. They say that the AA are the fourth emergency service, but no, the Fellbeck community are the fourth emergency service, especially The Half Moon Inn!

Staying locally we thought we would try the Half Moon Inn as recommended.. My pie was exceptional , meaty and full of flavour, gravy one of the nicest I've had in a pie , chips were flavoursome and veg cooked well. Service was great , friendly, speedy and professional , faultless.. The reason it's a 4 not a 5 is because I don't think a dog should be allowed in the eating area especially one that begs for food and if ignored sits there tapping your leg. Is a lovely old dog and I love dogs , have my own but do have areas dogs shouldn't be. Thank you....

The best bit was a good, proper home made steak and kidney pie. Not very generous veg (one broccoli floret and about 6 small pieces of carrot in a very generic brown gravy with a bit of mushroom). Fish pie not very good... tasted like a bought in bag of fish (a lot of cubes of some sort of brown fish) and a thin sauce. Staff friendly. Food came very quickly but we were then somewhat abandoned as we waited for either the dessert menu or to be asked if we wanted the bill.

Great little pub between Pateley Bridge and Ripon. Stopped for a pub lunch and as I have a big appetite, decided on the mixed grill. I was not disappointed. Very Large portion, but also very, very tasty. Possibly one of the best mixed grills I’ve had! Great pint of bitter also. Dog friendly pub, which has a friendly dog called Billy. We did think he was our best friend as he stayed round us before and during our lunch. Alas, once the food was finished, Billy showed his true colours and moved onto the next group of customers waiting for their food. I did consider giving 1 star for this reason, but I’ll forgive him.....this time....

Second visit after we so enjoyed the first 18 months ago. Food was good, but confused for us if punching for a Michelin star. Menu very similar, if not the same for some courses. Large beetroot bread roll, no beetroot flavour but great bread… size large to start filling you up. Next 2 amuse bouche , starters v good. Roast beef main course, hearty and pleasant, but seems at odds as hearty as I say rather than michelin, plenty of local pubs do as good or better. Two desserts attempting to be back on michelin spectrum but too similar…. Just nothing stand out. This time we used a voucher, so rather resent having to pay a service charge then on its gift value, but we didn’t quibble. Drinks expensive, so for the total price of the meal and drinks we weren’t convinced this was value for money, would prefer to spend elsewhere, so may not return in the near future. Still a lovely setting.
