The Lamb is a typical 'Local', a little way out of the centre of Town, but in easy walking distance. The spacious interior is still divided into different but undifferentiated bars, supplied from a central counter. There is no car park, although cars park on the forecourt at night, and if you are lucky, you can find parking on the adjoining roads. I go there about once a month, after a local meeting. The real ale choice is uninspired, usually consisting of two or three well known session beers, such as Fuller's London Pride, and Sharp's (Coors) Doom Bar. They are usually in good, if not prime, condition. The prices are typical of local pubs.

Reviewed this place last year and wasn't impressed so thought I'd give it another go. De ja vu! A small group sitting in the sun outside the door shouting and swearing loudly, very intimidating. If this goes on all the time I feel sorry for the surrounding houses as it's in the middle of a residential area. I shall not try again.

We went across the other side of town to check this pub out, as it's highly rated on TripAdvisor, and we're always interested in new local hotspots. I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about though. I notice most reviews are for their Sunday roast, whereas we went along in the afternoon for a drink. The place may as well have been closed, there were maybe 3 others in there watching sport on TV with a huge dog roaming around. One of the regulars had to shout for the bartender to come out from the back and serve us. Granted, the drinks were good, but we sat on our own in a corner of the pub, drank quickly and left (the outside courtyard is made up of 2 or 3 small tables and chairs down a side alley, basically a smoking area). There is really no atmosphere here at all, and it could use a refurb.

We called in here last sunday lunchtime for a roast. We had not booked (recommended that you do). However as there were only two of us, they were able to accomodate us between some very large parties of diners. Firstly I would like to dispute the previous comment that this is a "locals" only pub. I am a local living about 10 doors up the road and I did not see anyone I recognised from the local area. I can only assume this comment was made as there were a few people in the main bar playing crib and cards. I was not made to feel an outsider. We both ordered roast turkey and it was absolutely delicious. As others have mentioned, it was no frills, good wholesome food. It felt home cooked. The portions were adequate, with roast turkey, stuffing, yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, carrots and brussels. There was then a side dish of cauliflower cheese and extra gravy. Despite being very full ...... we decided to try the puddings. My partner had a pavlova thing, which was very nice and I had a banana fritter. It was one of those puddings which is very very sweet, but you have to keep eating it as it was delicious. It came with a vanilla custard and a scoop of toffee and honeycomb ice cream. I was in heaven. Both meals came in at under £10 per head (I think they do a deal two courses for £9.99). The host and waitress were very accomodating and friendly and were keen to ensure we had everything we needed. Thank you and we will be back!

We live only a short distance from the Lamb Inn and have always assumed it to be a real drinker's pub rather than a restaurant. A few weeks ago they posted a flyer through our door advertising that they had started doing Sunday lunches, so we thought we would give them a try. It took a few weeks because the bill-boards outside the pub gave the impression the only did sandwiches and snacks. Today, there was a sign advertising Sunday Lunch at around £8.00 for one course - so we called in. The dining room was almost full but there were two small tables still free. Unfortunately, a table of six people had arrived just before us - hence we had rather a long wait for our meal to arrive. The landlady apologised for the delay and explained that they were short staffed. We both ordered roast pork, but there was only one portion left, so my wife decided on fish and chips instead. When the meal arrived, we both agreed it was worth the wait. The pork came with roast spuds (nicely cooked and crispy), Yorkshire pud, cabbage, mashed swede with carrots, home grown runner beans and a separate dish of cauliflower cheese. It also came with an extra helping of gravy in a gravy boat - which is something that all restaurants should do with roast dinners! The meal was really tasty and and to be honest - as good as any I've ever tasted - and I've tasted a fair few pub roasts in my time. From my point of view the only improvement would be to cook the runner beans a little longer as they aren't ideal al-dente. I accept others may like them slightly underdone. The fish and chips were perfectly okay. Again, a largish portion. It came with a choice of peas or mushy peas. The chips were well cooked. As so often happens, the large portions didn't leave room for desserts, which was a shame because we saw the people at the next table enjoying home made sticky toffee pudding, fruit crumble with a jug of custard and what looked like Eton mess. The landlady confirmed that the puddings were homemade - which for me is an essential requirement. I can't understand why any restaurant would buy in catering packs of frozen desserts. The bill came to around £21 including a nice pint of Doombar bitter from Rock in Cornwall and a Coca-Cola. They also had two other bitters on hand-pump, including London Pride - one of my favourites. Pity I was driving. We could have walked, but it was raining! So, overall impressions. It still has the look of a town centre drinker's pub - that's not a criticism, just an observation. The food was top notch and definitely worth a second visit. I hope they can keep up that standard. The price was definitely too low, but I guess they know their own market. Good luck to them, I hope it takes off - Westfields needs and deserves a good local restaurant.

We live locally and were really pleased when the Lamb started doing food - there have been a few attempts by previous owners, which never really took off, but this time they have got it completely right. All of the food is cooked from scratch from fresh ingredients and they serve traditional pub dishes as well as less conventional choices and daily specials - there is definitely something to suit all tastes. They are more than willing to combine items from different dishes on the menu or up-size starters to the size of a main dish. The food, as others have mentioned, is very reasonably priced and the portions are a good size. We have had several meals there and have thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience on each occasion. We have held a couple of birthday parties at the Lamb in the past and it is the perfect venue, and I am looking for an excuse to have another one now that the present chef has arrived!A final word - the sticky toffee pudding is legendary!

The Lamb is a great community pub that has only recently started doing food. The menu contains some favourite fare but also some with a twist. There are usually specials on offer too. What makes the food special is that it is freshly cooked and tastes great as a result. All the dishes are good, though a favourite is the beefburger that has chorizo mixed in, served with plenty of relishes, home made slaw and a good helping of chips. I must have eaten thousands of burgers in my time, this one stands out as being one of the best.Lots of tasty puddings too, standards like eton mess and apple crumble. Again freshly made and it shows as the emphasis is on taste rather than stodge so they nicely finish of a meal rather than leaving you feeling stuffed.Service is quick and friendly, cost very reasonable. Main and pudding for 2 of us>£22 ex drinks. Re drinks, as a beer drinker having a choice of real ales at a casque marked pub is nice too.All in all great place to eat well cooked, good value meal in a friendly atmosphere. We have spent a lot of time in France and what this reminds of is the best type of restaurant there, not those with 3 michelin stars, but the small family run ones you find in little towns where everyone goes to eat, drink and relax.

Popped in for lunch today with a pal and am stuffed! But quantity in no way compromised the quality. The menu offers exactly what you want in the way of decent pub grub (including vegetarian options) but I had no hesitation in going for the chorizo burger which was beyond expectations. Homemade burger (which was more than a quarter-pounder) topped with delicious chorizo and mozzarella. The chips and homemade coleslaw were excellent also. Never usually do puddings but was tempted by the sticky toffee pudding which was just perfect! I now intend to try everything on the menu in the near future. My friend was equally impressed. Friendly service and surroundings - could not ask for more of a great little local pub!!! (Oh, and very reasonably priced for this quality of food!) I’m fairly regular at the Volley. The staff have always been friendly and professional. The locals are very friendly as well. Overall, it’s a welcoming pub for drinkers, eaters and families. I went with a mate on Saturday for ‘A Taste of Jamaica’. We both had the saltfish, jerk chicken with rice and pea, rum cake and a deliciously punchy rum punch. All this for £30 each! We’d not had saltfish before, so don’t have a point of reference. They were tasty dumpling/fritters with a good level of spice for me. We thought they were quite dense, which meant quite a filling starter. The jerk chicken was excellent! The closest version I’ve had in the UK to what I had in Jamaica! A generous portion of rice and pea, which neither of us could finish. The rum cake was moist, delicious and rummy. The rum punch was very rummy, which we both liked. I was excited to hear their plans to make this more of an event next year!
