The Kokum in Chiltern

We booked a table for 11 of us on a busy Saturday evening to celebrate my husband and son’s birthdays. I don’t say this lightly in the slightest, but the food coupled with the service and attitude of the staff was by far the worst I have ever experienced. Each dish that was served to us, the waiter would rudely tell us to “hold this” and would rudely hand the food item to us, while he placed other dishes onto our table. Clearly, he was not happy working there which initially made me personally feel sorry for him. For this reason, I have absolutely no issue in lending a hand when waiters serve, in fact we were the ones constantly asking the staff to clear our table of empty plates to make space. The waiter was rude but the most rude was the female owner. She came to ask us how everything was, even before all the dishes had been served to us, so we were not in a position to provide feedback. It took almost 45 mins for the food to come out. Disappointingly, and now reflective of the service we received, the kebabs were cold and tasteless, the paneer was rock hard and the butter chicken tasted off. One of us had ordered a milk lassi, and we thought this being a Punjabi restaurant it will be authentic, but what came out was a watered version – almost looked like remnants from a yoghurt tub! When we gave feedback to the lady, she practically shouted down at us, telling us she had asked how the food was…. But she had asked when only half the food hadn’t been served… when we did tell her, she was not willing to accept the embarrassment of the food they served. She was rude and unwilling to rectify the situation. We weren’t looking to get money taken off the bill or anything, but we showed her our dishes to say, hey look, we haven’t eaten these items because they don’t taste right! But the attitude of this woman was horrible that we just paid and left! Please, if you want authentic desi food, this is not the place to go. I felt so bad booking this place for my guests as I made them all drive 40 minutes out of their way here. What a waste of our time and money! I DO NOT recommend this restaurant.

What a little gem we found off the beaten track, , we booked short notice on a busy Saturday night but were accommodated very well, , great authentic food, cocktails were amazing and strong and even took a few dishes home. Would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone, thank you the kokum we will be back soon

We visited for Valentine's day and were greeted with a very warm welcome, as always. The food was excellent. Indian food with lots of flavour and and twists. All presented beautifully!! We ordered cocktails, the espresso martini was brilliant and very well made. The rose and lychee martini was lovely too. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Our first visit to Kokum but definitely not our last. Everything was excellent. Fabulous food, beautifully presented. Attentive but not overpowering service. Friendly staff. Lovely setting. Just hit up Kokam at Little Chalfont, Buckinghamshire and let me tell you—it's like a mini trip to India! The vibe is super cozy, with cool Indian vibes all around. From great appetizers to mind-blowing mains and desserts, they've got it all. The staff is very friendly and on point, making you feel right at home. Seriously, whether you're an Indian food pro or just getting started, this spot is a winner. Can't wait to go back for more Indian food adventures!

Awadhi Korma - too pale, too creamy. Presentation not good, it looked like a bowl of ice cream and, even if one has a sweet tooth, it was so so sweet. However, the chicken pieces were tender and succulent, but the dish as a whole was bland and underwhelming. A shame that no veg side dishes on the menu. We had to order okra from the vegetarian main menu, which was tasty but cooked in a rich tomato sauce, not appropriate as a side dish. Main price and too large a portion. Chicken Tikka - tender succulent and generous chicken pieces. Sadly no kick to the sauce, equalled a ready meal from a supermarket. Always good service and a warm welcome, but today everything was slow, even though only one other table occupied. We chose the wrong dishes - disappointed on this occasion.

Great food, great vibe and super hospitality! Our family visited for the first time and really enjoyed the experience. We were even greeted by the chef who remembered the dishes we had ordered. Really enjoyed the personal touch and would highly recommend.

This is a fabulous, relatively new, local Indian restaurant in Little Chalfont. Tucked away in Elizabeth Avenue this is definitely worth searching out. The food is different from the usual 'Indian cuisine' with a variety of unusual dishes from across the different regions of India. The staff and very friendly and the food excellent. The owners insisted on a personal welcome to customers. I am arranging to go again with a larger group.

The best and only authentic restaurant in the town. If you want to experience the Indian food with the great welcoming culture, this is the place. The food was very yummy. I would highly recommend Kokum without any doubt.

In a word 'Outstanding'! The chef used quality ingredients and you could taste the freshness in all the dishes we were served. Thank you chef for coming to talk to us, it was a pleasure to meet you and hear about your ethos. All the staff were very attentive and professional. We are lucky to have such a wonderful authentic Indian restaurant in our area. Only sorry we have not been sooner, but we have already booked to return.

The food reminded me of the famous Mayfair restaurant, Tamarind, when it had a Michelin star. The flavours are deep and complex, the presentation is elegant and portions, while generous, encourage sharing - perfect for my family visit. The friendly atmosphere and attentive service were similar too, in fact the only difference (apart from price, great value!) was an absence of Hollywood star spotting, but with Bovingdon studios nearby I am sure it won’t be long until they find The Kokum too!

Enjoyed tasty Indian food in a restaurant after a long time. It was v nice of the chef to take time out from the kitchen and speak to us for any suggestions etc. Good service and nice ambience. Would love to visit again to try other dishes as not far from work.

The food is refreshingly different from the usual Indian restaurant. Every dish had a distinct and very different flavour, and very well presented. The staff are warm and welcoming and attentive.
