The Kokum in Chiltern

If you want great food which is a little out of the ordinary from the typical Indian restaurant, you will not do better locally than to enjoy a meal at The Kokum. A group of 50 or more of us enjoyed good friendly service, and lovely food from a set menu of £27. There was plenty to satisfy all, and despite the large number eating, the quality of the meal did not disappoint. The a la carte menu looked very appealing too. I had never heard of the restaurant until today, but I will be sure to return!

The food on offer here is some of the best Indian cuisine I've tasted. The restaurant has a very chill and inviting atmosphere and the service is great. I particularly enjoyed the chilli garlic mogo and the peshwari naan had the perfect sweetness to go with my curry. The family also thoroughly enjoyed their dining experience.

Kokum. Your chili paneer is the showstopper. 👌 Honestly, after historic Jay's chilli paneer at Kingsbury. Kokum chilli paneer is the Closest match . Pure taste 😋🤤 for the chilli paneer only we might come back.but at the time please don't disappoint us by saying 'Oh You Came All The Way For STARTERS ONLY!! It's entirely customers choice what to have and how much to have. If kitchen is busy with takeaway orders and customer wants to wait for a while for Mains then please let them. Or if you can't afford customers for drinks and starters only then display a clear notice. Service was really good by one guy on the floor. Didn't like the mains Malai kofta but nevermind someone else might like it that way. Overall good experience for Kokum dining. Try it. Review it. Thanks

The food was very good , I especially enjoyed the cheese naan … excellent. They don’t do an onion bahji, which is my favorite starter-:( But other than that I would recommend going. Probably going to try their Chinese takeout menu next.

When it first opened the food was different to most Indian restaurants and exciting. Unfortunately I feel it has lost its way and although the menu remains interesting the food itself is now quite ordinary and even bland in some respects. Regardless of this the biggest issue I had on this occasion was the uncomfortably slow service despite the restaurant being less than half full. I appreciate that the food is mostly freshly cooked but feel that the kitchen needs more staff to properly serve their customers in a timely manner. The menu is a little more expensive than most Indian establishments and so one should therefore expect a better all round experience.

This restaurant never disappoints. The food is so refreshingly different from the run of the mill curry house fare. It is authentic, fresh, and beautifully presented, add to that warm and friendly service. The best curry house for miles.

Went for Sunday breakfast buffet. It was so delicious! The lentil doughnuts were my favourite. All so so good. Had a gorgeous takeaway a couple of weeks ago too 🫶. Thanks.

Just ok, given the dearth of genuine Indian restaurants in Amersham, they can do better. Starters were ok, paneer tikka and chicken tikka. Main course ok, non-veg better than the Veggies. We would have liked the daal to be less spicier for the kids but were told it was already spiced up already and couldn't be changed, which was odd! Paneer and lamb dishes were good.

From Mouth Catering Laal Maas to amazing Paneer Butter Masala. Drinks and cocktail fusion versions were amazing. I was travelling from Canada to India. Did stop in London to pay visit to my closest friend ! Please do surely check out. I can certainly say that flavourful food at reasonable prices!

Went for the buffet indian brunch, what a feast! Some traditional dishes of all vegetarian options,beautifully cooked and full of flavour, the chai was the best ive ever had

Exceptional Indian Restaurant, not the run of the mill dishes but authentic recipes made by their own chef, which is so rare nowadays. We had a lovely chicken and lamb curry last night, starting off with their speciality Himalayan Cocktail, not too be missed. It’s a little off the beaten track but well worth a trip out to them. They are even doing authentic Indian Breakfasts for those who are daring over the weekend.

Highly recommend this place for the true dining experience beyond just food. All staff was very friendly and attentive. The ambience of the restaurant added to the overall experience, making it a perfect evening. I highly recommend Kokum for anyone looking for great food and excellent service.

This is a hidden gem, and should be far better known. Delicious meal, and not as expensive as it deserved to be. Especially liked the chili paneer.

Great Spot for a Family breakfast! We had an amazing breakfast at The Kokum with the whole family. The breakfast is available on weekend mornings which is perfect me. Service was quick, and the staff was so accommodating with our kid. We loved the kid-friendly options, especially the idli and Paav bhaji were ultimate and the portions were perfect. The atmosphere was relaxed, making it an enjoyable experience for both adults and children. Definitely a go-to spot for a fun family meal on Weekend mornings!

Amazing place for a Birthday Celebration! We celebrated a birthday at The Kokum, and it couldn’t have been more perfect! The staff went above and beyond to make the night special, from personalized service to helping with the cake. The food was fantastic—everyone raved about the mashroom matar , and there were plenty of great options for all tastes. The lively atmosphere and attention to detail made it an unforgettable evening. I was recommended Kokum and went for the first time last night. Fabulous authentic Indian food with great spicing, little in the way of oil, great portions and first class service. I would definitely go again and have paid far more in designer Indian Restaurants with Michelin stars, for no better food. A real gem this, and worth a visit even if slightly off the beaten track!

A wonderful Indian buffet breakfast. There was a good selection of freshly cooked food on offer, it was well presented and all tasted amazing. We were greater with a warm welcome and everyone was friendly. All dishes on offer were explained to us with what ingredients were used and what part of India they came from. The price of the buffet was very reasonable too.

Food is good but the service is ridiculously slow

This is the best Indian restaurant in the area without a doubt, prices may be marginally higher but the service and food are always excellent and stand up to the price point comfortably. Well worth multiple visits.

Ordered food from uber eats, chicken chettinad which was looked like butter chicken and tasted chicken like chicken pieces just boiled and dumped in some tomato gravy. no taste , texture and aroma. nothing near to the chicken chettinad which has been ordered.

Visiting UK from Chicago. We went there to celebrate my daughter’s 6th Birthday with family. Restaurant is impressive in terms of Ambience, lighting and chairs (very upscale). Very friendly staff and food service was top notch. We tried chaat, paneer chilly, Malai kofta, paneer tikka, Egg fried rice and it was finger licking good. Overall, I was very happy and satisfied with food and service. Would definitely recommend and go back again.

Just had food here for a little date night out and we loved it. We were very late with the booking, most places wasn't taking full meal orders at 9 however half 8 they called back and said they're more than happy to have us. Service was very quick and staff were very friendly and polite. The food was stunning, we both loved what we had, mine was a Bhuna curry which felt mild at first but the spice got more intense as the meal went on. We also had spicy potato bhaji which was really nice, fun way to mix it up over just having chips Would definitely recommend!

We started with Cobra on tap which was very good, followed by starters. The chicken lollipops were recommended on past reviews so we chose it, and it did not disappoint. Easily my son’s favourite thing on the menu we had today. The Rajastan Lamb was brilliant - flavoursome and very hot as well. Well cooked Parathas and Naans, as well as rich chutneys with Popadums. An incredibly enjoyable evening which I wholly recommend!

Me and my wife have visited up from Kent for a small holiday and decided to eat here as it had excellent reviews and I love Indian food. Well I have to say if this restaurant was close to home I would 100% be a regular! The curry is one of the best I’ve ever had! Everything we had, had its own beautiful unique flavour you won’t find anywhere else and the service was out of this world! 10 out of 10 Would highly recommend to anyone in the area to try this beautiful restaurant!

Went for dinner yesterday with my parents and a 2.5 year old. Definitely the nicest Indian around the area. We don’t usually go to Indian restaurants in this area (being Indian) as it never meets our standards. But they made it spicy for us and food is very tasty. The owners are very friendly and made us feel very welcome, also gave my daughter an orange juice on the house, thanks again! Will definitely return in the future. P.S it’s also Indian owned 👍

The waitress was really attentive and helped to guide us through the dishes on the menu that would suit us best.

We were only able to have starters - following these there was an issue in the kitchen and we weren’t able to eat anything else despite waiting for 2 hours. It happens and we felt really bad for the restaurant but felt they could have handled it better - we were only told after asking what was happening (almost 90 minutes after our starters!). We will be back for a second attempt!

Ordered food from Kokam. Absolutely delicious and authentic Indian food. We don't have any Indian authentic restaurant within our vincity in Amersham. Kokam is a pleasant addition to the community. Never fails to disappoint Highly recommend it.

The Kokum restaurant is a lovely place! Has a great atmosphere, food and people. Very thoughtful design in colour of kokum fruit, all the food includes this fruit and it’s a nice detail. Didn’t try anything like it before, it was a great experience, loved it! Recommend the restaurant, but be quick as the special desserts are disappearing in a blink of an eye!

Most importantly the food was very tasty. My wife hates coriander so our food was prepared with no coriander. I was given a pot of fresh coriander to sprinkle on my food. Very thoughtful. Very attentive service and a good atmosphere in the restaurant. All in all had a great evening.

An unusual setting in the middle of a housing area but the food and ambience was great. Service a little slow but this suited us since we were chatting and needed a catch up. I liked the none-rush but this may not be for everyone. I would recommend.

the food was very tasty. the starters dahi puri melted in the mouth, the rajkoti gughra is a must try. on the mains. while the dishes were definitely tasty, the spice levels are on the milder side. on service, having more staff could help with better attention to customers. had to ask more than twice to refill water etc.. overall, very pleased with the food and will definitely visit again.

Had ordered veg kolhapuri and daal makhni from the restaurant. The taste was outstanding. Daal makhani(black lentil) was perfectly creamy with right spices. It is must try dish.

Quite possibly the best indian restaurant for 50 miles. Service from RV was beyond excellent, and the food even better. We had a party of 14 and all served fresh food at the same time, and the taste was excellent. Cannot fault this place at all, free parking outside, friendly service, prices a little high for drinks but you get what you pay for. Sensational. Will be back.

Wowww what a food quality. Anything you order from the menu will have it’s recipe consciously treated with quality and care until its plated and served. All the dishes I ordered were very authentic and tasty. Hatsoff to their chef. I definitely have to mention their dahi poori, Prawn biryani and madras chicken chettinadu. I was bound to order one more dahi poori 🙂. Top class. Keep up the same quality, taste and customer service. Thanks.

Must-see location in Little Chalfont. They provide specialties that have the real kokum flavour. The menu combines Chinese, Maharashtrian, Konkan, and Mughlai cuisine. Tawa Fish Fry and Chilly Dry Chicken are two of my favourite appetisers. Sample their Kokum Fusion beverage. Main dish Garlic Naan or Rice with Kombadi Rassa and Lal Maas. I look forward to try more in future from this restaurant. Commendable hostess and service from their to the point.

We had a lovely friends get together dinner at Kokum last night. The staff were really attentive yet left us to enjoy our evening. The food was well presented and delicious. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and inviting. Everyone was pleasantly surprised at the final bill as it turned out to be a good value. Overall a fun evening out in a local restaurant.

The food was very tasty, well cooked and felt good quality. And I could spend my yums. So good value too. Friendly service. Relaxing atmosphere. Highly Recommended

Overall a good experience however when called to make the booking I was told Yuma were not being accepted even though I booked with the £50 Yums voucher. It was honoured after explaining so that was good. Starter ‘s pani puri and fish fry were very nice although the fish fry a bit pricey at £11.00 for 6 thin strips. Paneer butter masala for main was very nice however the red lamb curry wasn’t as flavourful and spicy as expected. Table Water was hand poured and was room temperature and not served with ice. Had to ask for more water and ice twice throughout the meal. I think it would be prudent to serve guests a just of chilled water if requested. Waited 15 mins for second man bread by which time the dishes were cold so not quite as enjoyable. Overall though the manageress was polite and mingled well with other diners,

The restaurant is lovely, but the food and service wasn’t great. Our mains took almost 45 mins to arrive, and it wasn’t what we expected.

We went for dinner a few months ago and it was absolutely delicious. Ordered our first takeaway this evening - and it was the best delivered curry I think we've ever had. Delicious food and sustainable packaging too, which we haven't seen before. Brilliant restaurant - delighted to have it near us.

Food was delivered cold was not freshly prepared. Fed this back to staff, however, they were unwilling to accept the feedback. Food took about 40-50mins to arrive. Would not recommend.

I heard that this restaurant in a residential area was recommended by a Sri Lankan friend, so I had been curious about it for a long time and finally went there! After reading the reviews, I thought Chicken lollipop, butter chicken, and biryanis were a must, so I ordered them. I wanted to try lamb too, so I asked about something on the menu that wasn't too spicy, and ordered Palak Gosht with spinach. Everything was so delicious! 😋 The two of us couldn't eat it all, so we had it wrapped for us and took it home. The staff's response was also good. Fully air-conditioned, so you'll be fine even on hot summer days!

Wife and I went for a very late meal one Saturday and it was great. No long waits, and very fresh food.

A friend of ours introduced the Kokum to us a few months ago, since then we become big fans of their delicious food. Had a several takeaways and dinning in, both eat in and takeaway food were delicious!!! I tried their prawn Biryani tonight with the side dish of baby Okras. Both dishes were fresh, well seasoned and absolutely delicious!!! If you are like me whom prefer food with fresh and quality ingredients, do give the Kokum a try when you are in the area!

I enjoyed lunch today with my wife and 2 friends. The atmosphere was relaxed. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. The food was all tasty and well presented. Time passed without my realising and I could have stayed another hour. Kokum has left me in a pleasant mood. Thank you.

Really good food, music was slightly too loud but maybe that’s me being old! Tasty and plenty, we had 4 starters between 5 and then 3 rice and 3 naan with 5 mains. Plenty for 5 of us. V enjoyable!!

Excellent taste of the food. The taste from this place is like real Indian restaurants unlike some Bangladeshi and Pakistani cuisine restaurants. I always order from this place whenever I crave for Indian curries. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely lunch with some excellent tasty food. The restaurant was very quiet when we were there but it is a very pleasant set up. The service was very good and the waiter was very friendly and helpful.

Trying somewhere new is always interesting. Our friends had been and said the food was great so we travelled over to try it out and it did not let us down. Small place on a parade of shops and only a few in but we had booked very early. The menu is not huge, but this is a massive positive as they are focussing on a menu that delivers and is not 1 pages of choice like some others. A great mix of Vegetarian and meat based dishes and everything was hot, tasty and full of flavour.

We had a very warm welcome from the hostess. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. One of the most authentic Indian's we've eaten. Will defiantly come back and recommend to family and friends - A+

Hidden in an area you would not expect to find a top quality restaurant! There is only 30-35 covers so you must book but the food is amazingly good and for me the best i have had locally in the chalfonts, amersham and chesham! Unfortunately by stating this here i may not be able to get a table easily again as it was THAT good !

Over the weekend went for this hidden gem! I had looked at the menu beforehand and the dishes sounded different to some of the best Indian restaurants in the whole country and the flavour and taste was absolutely brilliant when we actually had the food 👌For starters we had Kokam Fish Fry which was much better than the typical fried fish dish. Second starter Adraki Chaap from Welsh lamb was very succulent and flavoursome - would happily have this again. For mains we tried Kombdi Rassa chicken which had some amazing spice flavours that I have not had anywhere else before. Rajasthani Laal Maas lamb dish was stupendously yummy! We had the Dahi Bhala (authentic Delhi style for me 👏), Laccha Paratha and Butter Naan which were amazing. Will be going here regularly now with friends and family. Superb discovery!! The service was very professional and attentive as Arvinder the Manager as a great host. She has an amazingly bubbly and welcoming personality.

I have been here few times for a takeaway and never disappointed with the food. Always wanted a good Indian takeaway since moved to Amersham. Finally found one!! Keep up the good work
