Papad Restaurant in Chiltern

Was staying in the area after travelling from Cardff. Googled this restaurant so gave it a try. We had Pompadoms and chutney try for a starter 1 chicken Balti 1 chicken Pathia 1 plain rice and 1 coconut rice 1 plain nan and 1 garlic nan. All food was outstanding and so flavour some and piping hot. Staff were very friendly and chatty which was nice. Decent size portions and not over priced. Would recommend and would return if in the area again

Incredible food, just so tasty and incredible value for money. Good atmosphere and the service was also faultless. We will definitely be back.

I had a great experience at this restaurant! Came in for a takeaway, the food was absolutely delicious, with each dish bursting with flavor. Phoned up to ask questions since the menu had not got any allergy information. The person we spoke to on the phone had no idea about the allergy we were asking about and was not able to provide any information whatsoever. It is worth stating that this a legal requirement that pad pad are comprehensively failing at so no other option but to report the establishment. Very poor.

Great restaurant, great food. This is where I have always ordered my indian takeaway from but eating in is a whole different experience. Great atmosphere, amazingly fresh food, you even get complementary orange and hot towel afterwards.

Can honestly say it's the best Indian restaurant I've been too. We have just moved to the area and have tried a couple but this one is in a different league. The food is beautifully cooked and atmosphere is lovely very homely and welcoming. We have dined in and had a takeaway and both times were fantastic. Would definitely recommend

I just recently moved to the area and ordered for collection and wow! I couldn’t believe how good the food was!! I ordered the chicken balti curry and garlic naan bread and it was packed with flavour! Sooo delicious. The staff were really friendly too! I’ll definitely be back! Thank you

Don’t order on Just Eat. Never had a problem before but I ordered on Just eat at 11:39 when they said they were still open but they didn’t accept the order and then cancelled it at 11:50. They need to update their Just Eat hours if they’re going to keep disappointing customers like this.

Interesting and diverse menu and reasonably priced. The service, the decor and the ambience was really good . We loved the food - truly excellent! As a nation who has been to many Indian restaurants in London and beyond, I would say this is one of the best I’ve been to in recent times. Absolutely recommend .

Ordered online and choose delivery for 5:45pm. Delivery was on time. The food was just awful. Worse ever indian dishes i ever had. Ordered a Lamb Korai and it was tastless. The meat taste like boiled. I had to add on some spices to make it tasty. Nan bread seems like it was reheated. I do not recommend anyone to order there, waste of money. Very disappointed

Dosa was not authentic. Not made from rice flour and Urab...it was soft and sweet instead of crispy and the filling was tasteless. Fishcakes were also dry, tasteless and artificially coloured. Lamb Coorgi....sweet 'custard' sauce, no spice at all. Seafood platter: puri tough. Crab ok. Very disappointing meal that bore no resemblance to authentic Indian cuisine at all. We left over half our meals as it was not at all enjoyable. The overall flavour was sweetness without any savoury or spicy tones. Worst 'Indian' food we have ever had

Have been using papad for 6 years now. Lovely restaurant with staff that go out of their way to make your experience pleasant. Never had an issue once with any of my food. They even make changes to dishes so my child who has allergies can also eat there. 10/10 would recommend.

Had the tandoori bizarre, wow! What an explosion of Individual flavours that came together beautifully. Don’t think I’ve ever had tandoori grilled food that led me on such a culinary journey, A must try for anyone - the chef is a true master of his trade!!

Just had a delivery from Papad. It was so good really enjoyed it. Could not fault it so had to give a 5.

This was the first time we have used Papad(6th Aug 2022), we had mixed feelings as had used The Coriander in Amersham for the last 10years(No more it’s gone down hill). Wow what a lovely takeaway from Papad, very very impressed as were all the family. It arrived on time 45mins to Latimer, the driver was very polite and helpful. Now the food was piping hot well packed and very tasty we had quite a selection ( Dhansak, Korma, Tikka, Tarka daal, bread and more) we cannot wait to go back and try something new. Many thanks for restoring our faith in takeaway restaurants. Thankyou we will be using you again.

Went to the restaurant with a group of friends on a Friday night. We didn't have a starter but all had a main course. Eveyone was impressed with the freshness and quality of the dish. I had the lamb chops which were really good. There was plenty of meat on the chops andthey were tender and not overcooked. My husband always orders king prawn vindaloo. He said the vindaloo was amazing, Very very hot and spicy with huge prawns. One of the best he had eaten. I can highly recomend this restaurant and will be visiting again.

I had high hopes considering this restaurant is often recommended. We had a take away. Ingredients were of a good quality but the taste was lacking in every department. I don’t think I’ve ever had Indian food which was so bland, and lacking in spice. My dish was meant to be hot (lamb rozella) and it was definitely mild. However even if 100 chillies were added for heat, the lack of overall flavour and spice would still disappoint. Also the case with our other dishes. Should be 2.5/5 (I can’t give it. 2/5 as it wasn’t “poor”).

Food was nice, although the duck was a bit odd as it had the texture of offal. Don't go here if you want to be socially distanced from your fellow diners, very cramped restaurant. Not comfortable, so we didn't stay long. Wouldn't go back.

Ordered a chicken madras which we eat regularly from other restaurants and all have been spicy. We dished our food out and we both thought it had no taste (very bland) and was no spice at all, so much so… I would give it to my baby with how mild it was. Called them to see if they made a mistake and they even said it should be medium/hot and after saying it literally had no taste ordered a vindaloo to come instead thinking it would be medium considering there was no spice to madras but was extra extra spicy. Didn’t have no taste, was just pure spice. After delivery guy was a bit rude we just decided to settle and just put it down to not getting their mediums right. Disappointed as previously ordered about a year ago and was quite nice. Maybe just don’t order madras lol.

Great tasting well made fresh Indian food! Our family loved every single dish we had, this restaraunt won our hearts! We went there for a birthday celebration but cannot wait to go back. Highly recommend

A wonderful restaurant we’ve been using for years. Authentic S.Indian cuisine. ‘Bland’??!! Far from it. Kolhapuri Chicken is always amazing as are all the dishes we’ve had in the past. Highly recommend. And not at all expensive- can’t think of any local restaurants you can feed 3 people for less than £50. ...alright, Wimpy.

We ordered food for collection rather than eat in. When we got back the food had to be heating through as was not piping hot. However the most disappointing thing was the lack of flavour. The food did not taste of the spices listed - garlic ginger Garam masala and the onions had a strange after taste. The lentil daal was the worst I have ever had. It was watery and seemed to have few lentils in it and again tasted bland. The rice was lovely although what I expected was saffron rice and it came as white rice with barely any colour. Very disappointed as was a treat after a long week and at £50+ for 3 of us this was an expensive meal. I don't usually write reviews that are negative and like to support local businesses but I wouldn't want anyone else to waste their money and have a disappointing meal.

Decided to treat ourselves tonight, haven't used papad for ages, glad we did. Best curries for ages, thanks guys

Possibly the best curry I have eaten - the starters are original and lovely. All the classics represented too.

Found this place accidentally, looking for vegetarian fuel more than a culinary experience. Excellent poppadoms, glorious home-made chutneys, mixed veg Pathia and the best Paratha I've eaten in years, buttery but not greasy and quite astonishing value. If I lived locally, I'd be a regular. A gem.

There are lots of good Indian restaurants in this area but they are either classic British Indian or flashy modern British Indian. Papad is different and better. The flavours and dishes are authentic - take the dosa for example - just like you are eating one Chennai. Service is good and prices very reasonable.

We moved to Amersham last year and have so far been disappointed with our Indian takeaway experience. Papad has saved us! I'm of Indian origin and regular cook Indian food at home. Papad is the closest authentic takeaway I've had for a long time, and at great prices. Highly recommend!

I have visited twice now, for dinner with friends, and can't recommend this place highly enough. The food is out of this world - authentic flavours and dishes. They'll cook your curries to exactly the heat you prefer. The service is excellent - friendly, kind and helpful. Lovely ambience. All social distancing carefully observed. I love this place, and I will be back regularly!

A pleasant surprise, last minute booking and it was wonderful. The staff were very helpful and tentative. The food was wonderful! The naan bread was the best I have ever had, fresh and light. The monk fish was my favourite dish, creamy and flavoursome. Great touch with Voss water, hot towels, chocolates and wiped surfaces between courses. Would definitely go again. Thanks for the great evening.

They switched the menus at the end of the meal, added 15% onto the order. When we made a scene, they bought out a different menu with more expensive prices and then denied it. A customer there also said that they did that to her the day before and they thought they'd made a mistake, but clearly not. They are trying to scim more money off the government scheme, if it wasn't for us meddling kids they wouldn't have got away with it. 1/100

We were shown one menu originally, and then shown a different more expensive menu when we realised that the bill was more than it should have been. They denied that there were two different menus for a while but eventually provided the original one. Somebody else in the restaurant said it happened to her previously and they made her feel as if she was in the wrong. Shady. Curry was decent though.

Classy restaurant in Chesham, Papad has lovely decor and ambience. They have prepared themselves well for social distancing and sanitising!! Food is fantastic though some of the dishes lacked a bite on them. We enjoyed it nevertheless.

We have eaten here many times and when the family are with us it is the go to restaurant. The service can be a bit variable but overall not enough to keep us away.

Truly terrible delivery service. No idea if this place is any good to eat in, but our meal took 95 minutes to deliver and worst of all it was cold. Will never order from them again.

Just moved to the area and this will become our regular curry house. The curry is good, the price is good and they keep giving me a free beer. Yet do the dining in experience. This didn't get 5* because it's not exceptional, but for the price I wouldn't expect it to be!

Incredible food and run by a great bunch of guys. Everyone should try the slow cooked Sri Lankan lamb - it will blow your mind!

We went for a valentines meal here. The waiters constantly coming over to your table and staring at your food whislt youre trying to eat . We both asked for lamb dishes and they served beef. Overpriced for the quality of food that was presented compared to our local Indians in our small home town in the South West of England. Went into this place with high expectations but sadly a let down.Pros: easy to get too: on street parking : variety of dishes - meat and fish : nice sauces and dips Cons:: very small resteraunt : staff constantly coming over to your table Verging on annoying: wrongly served meats in curry : over priced for the quality and presentation.

Many Indian restaurants focus - naturally - on cuisine from one region of that mighty land. But here, there are dishes from Kerala, from the north, from Pakistan and Bangladesh. And what's more, the dishes are excellent! Starters were generous, so do not overorder.You will find things on the menu that you may not have seen before, so if you are feeling adventurous...Service was good, not intrusive. Drink prices were OK, I had a decent glass of red wine for £4.00. I will return here, soon, and would recommend it.

Had a lovely meal last night with friends. With good food and service Papad seems to be back on track after a few issues on the service side [food has always been good].

Arrived at 6.45pm and asked if there was a table for four (we hadn’t booked). Pleased to be told they could accommodate us but would need the table back by 8pm, which was fine with us. Had an enjoyable meal, food was pretty good. We finished at 7.45 and asked for the bill, which we paid promptly. Literally 10 seconds after paying, the waiter came over and said the next people were here and we needed to leave. Spent nearly £100 on our meal but ushered out in a very rude way and treated like we were in a fast food joint. I told them this was a disappointing end to our evening and they basically just laughed and shrugged it off. Shame that the service is so poor because it could be a very good restaurant.

If you’re looking for something a bit different look no further! Tasty Indian that caters to vegetarians without being boring.

We ordered our food over the phone and it arrived bang on time. The staff were all very friendly and courteous.

First time yesterday - excellent service and lovely food - not just run of the mill Indian food but a nice mixed if different stuff.

The food was pretty good without being exceptional but the service was slow. This isn't the first time I have highlighted this and last time we visited the service was much better but seemingly that hasn't lasted. If it had a large no of tables I would understand but it only has approx 10. Again the takeaway custom seems to slow the service in the restaurant down. I'm not the only one to notice the slow service but it our comments are obviously not being heeded.

What an impressive, tasty and thought about menu! For a small restaurant there is so much choice! Portion sizes are good and the food is truly brilliant, fantastic taste and lovely restaurant! Definitely be back! One of the best in Chesham!

Our 2nd visit here, the first being a few years back, which we remembered as having great, innovative food but slow service, the latter putting us off a return visit until now. Sadly, our opinion is the same after a 2nd visit. As soon as we were seated, we were asked what we wanted to drink and whether we wanted poppadoms, before we'd had any chance to consult the menu but made an order, including for some water which never arrived. A few minutes later, were asked for our food order but weren't quite ready and so asked for a couple more minutes. We then waited around10-15 minutes for someone to return to take our order. It was then another 20 minutes until a shared starter arrived. Following that, it took a further 30-40 minutes until our main eventually arrived. In the meantime, a couple who arrived an hour after us, ordered and received drinks and poppadoms and then received their main 5 minutes after us. As soon as we had finished our main courses, we asked for the bill, as we had been in the restaurant half an hour longer than we would have expected for what we ordered. My partner told the waiter that the food was good but had taken too long to come, but our comments were ignored and were turned into a conversation about where we live nearby and encouragement to write a review, so we gave up trying to complain. The experience left us frustrated and unlikely to return again. A shame as this has the potential to be a great place.

I wish I could give it a zero. Absolutely appalling service. The food was delivered 15 minutes later than promised. The food that did arrive, was stone cold. They were missing several items. We then waited 40 minutes more for them to deliver the missing items. They still did not deliver the correct items. They agreed to refund us on the phone, and then JustEat called them to confirm and they changed their minds, so very kindly offering to refund the price of one missing naan.

Never had a bad experience with Papad. Food has been consistently good over years. I rarely leave reviews but on this occasion it's well deserved.

I believe Papad is one of the best restaurants in Chesham. The food is always delicious. We tend to book early before the place fills up as the service slows dramatically at peak times. The tables by the window in the main area are the most popular I also like one of the tables for four which is tucked away at the back of the dining room. I’d always recommend booking.

This place used to be brilliant when it first opened but has since gone downhill, I now consider it to be just another Indian takeaway of average quality, such a shame as the restaurant is a really nice cosy place to dine.

I have never had a bad meal here. The food is delicious for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. The staff are completely on the ball and very attentive. Really nice restaurant.

Not the largest restaurant but the owner is always friendly and the food delicious. Rarely order take aways but the occasions I do, the food arrives nicely packed and with free poppadums!

This is one of our favourite restaurants but the service has been terrible over the last few years. Suitably braced we visited last night and lo and behold we had a great night, great food with superb service. The food has always been good here but lately we have only been up for a takeaway. If the service we received last night continues then takeaways will be a thing of the past. Fingers crossed.
