Great night in a proper pub. Busy as you like and still gave quick service. Highly recommend!

Tiffany went over and above to accommodate a 60th birthday party. The staff were so hard working and kept the bar flowing with minimal queues. We all had an amazing night. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a small party hire. Thank you Tiffany and co!

This is the best local sport bar in town. It is friendly and always shows the latest sport events (from rugby, boxing, football) or the option to play a game of pool or darts. To top this usp there is plenty of room, great drinks selections, nice little fireplace area for winter or outdoor for the summer.

In my opinion the best pub in Chesham, great atmosphere, looks and smells clean, the bar staff are friendly and can have a laugh, lots going on throughout the week too, they show every live sport and a great pub for kids and dogs aswell.

Best pub in Chesham not to sure what all the bad press is about ! Lovely staff members very attentive. Nice clean bar and tables . Very family friendly and loving the little dog that runs around , puts a smile on my girls face . Landlady is very caring and great with the little ones handing out packs and treats etc . Would 100% recommend this pub to anyone . So don’t know what the bad hate is about !

If I could give it a 0 I would, the absolutely worst experience I’ve had in that pub, the land lady is a joke what sort of land lady lets her pub be used for drugs… aswell as the inside being a complete mess sticky tables and bar, so shocked on how this beautiful pub is being treated

Absolutely incredible pub. So good for families and very inclusive. There's a dart board and pool table inside too and my kids loved playing with the little dog they have inside too! Definitely recommend.

Too many great things to list in a small box. Let's start with the impeccable cleanliness, it feels like you're in someone's home and not a public house. Secondly the staff are so attentive, before I finished my drink I was asked if I was having another. The overall atmosphere of this venue is welcoming, safe and just what you need either for families or just a quick drink. I look forward to coming back and seeing what wonderful things they bring In the new year.

This is a lovely pub, Debs, Ben, Jasmin, Maggie and Chanelle are all lovely and take the time to chat to their customers and make them feel welcome, roast dinners are nice too.

One of the best pubs in Chesham. Most delicious roast dinners, lovely options for vegans too. Staff are all very friendly and have created a very welcoming, cosy vibe. Enjoy the pub quiz here as well. Great place to spend a Sunday afternoon. Would highly recommend.

Best Sunday lunch in Chesham. The chef makes a great effort in creating a lovely vegan lunch which many pubs just won’t bother with! Cheerful friendly staff, very clean and organised and generally what you want to see in a local pub. Highly recommend 💚

The Jolly has gotten back to being a lovely pub now Debs and Ben are back in, the locals flooded back, the bar food is yummy, staff are friendly and accomodating and are happy to reserve you an area for a group if you give advance notice. Dogs are welcome and its a pub I would happily go to alone as a woman. It has darts, quizzes, karaoke, a really lovely, welcoming local pub!

As a visiting technical stage manager for the elgiva theatre, Deborah and Ben made me feel very welcome, it can be lonely touring with shows, And even went to extent of cooking me Christmas Dinner which I haven't had from any pub in 35 year's of being in the business, she is a fair but firm landlady and always puts the effort to make a good atmosphere, with occasional live music highly recommended.

Always a lovely atmosphere in this pub with lots of things to keep occupied with. I'd asked for a roast dinner to take away, they did not disappoint. It was amazing down to every last detail. Thank you very much and you know you'll see me again

Absolutely fabulous visit to the jolly. We are a Chesham couple and have not been in for a while due to the previous owners… however! The new owners are brilliant and their barmaid Chanelle is the bees knees!!! Thank you for making us so welcome and recommending the madre as an alternative for our sorely missed Stella. We’ll be back soon x

Evertime I visit, great Sunday roasts, excellent value and something going on every night of the week. I fully recommend. Alma is a fantastic addition to the team always a friendly service

5 star pub with 5 star service and 5 star food! The Sunday Roast is amazing Bens cooking skills are something else and his sautéed garlic cabbage is a must try. The fried chicken filets and wings with so many flavours to try must be tasted to be believed. All the staff are polite and friendly but especially chanelle who always gives service with a smile.

It was nice. They are set up for drinking in the garden and have employed extra staff to serve. It was sunny, which helped.

Oddly unwelcoming. It's the nearest place to go to for a drink after rehearsals and it feels like we've walked into The Slaughtered Lamb. Silence and everyone stares at the Boomers. Then we're told it's closing time and no more drinks, yet the other end of the bar is in full swing serving the in-crowd, whatever that is. Beer's good, shame about the welcome.

No real ales, but has one arm bandits, did not stay long.

Called in here whilst visiting friends in Chesham. It was a lovely Friday evening,the place was buzzing. We managed to get a seat outside which was very pleasant. The staff were attentive and the food,what I saw of it looked good.

dropped in for an evening drink with an old friend and didn't want to walk all the way into town live music was certainly pulling in the locals and the bar was busy, but that didn't stop being served very quickly and the beer on tap was good and the service was pleaseant and quick. Found a good sized table and got some master planning done for a charity event easily. been in a couple of times before for watching sports and the pubs improved and looks to have new management and doing a good trade

very basic amenities. really a proper blokes pub for sports etc. probably ok if you wanted to watch a big game but as i was the only female in there, it didnt suit me.

I've been to this pub a few times now and it always seemed so upbeat and had a lovely crowd. However recently it seems to have really gone downhill - unsure as to whether new owners have taken over but it seems really unorganised. A fair few times completely running out of many drinks and beer, young barman being rude to people and a constant flow of groups of men joining each other in the toilets. I'm pretty sure it isn't to have a friendly chat whilst they use the loo either. This was such a lovely pub where I would see young children playing in the garden last year which is now so run down I wouldn't let me child loose. Never would I allow a young child in to the toilets after the amount of substance that's probably floating around and after watching one of the bar staff be rude to a 'punter' I wouldn't go back. Bring back the old landlords!

This is a pretty decent pub with a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. There seems to be a mixed crowd here so anyone would be welcomed. The atmosphere is relatively relaxing and I stayed here for some time without feeling the need to leave. This pub wasn't particularly crowded either.

Going concern businesses like this one are deceptive. They look the same as the old one, serve the same and are even in the same location as the old one but they don't trick me. With their salt on the windows to keep out the underground snail people, the black hodded gowns that are hung up behind the bar but the thing that gives it away for me the most is the lack of eyebrows on the staff pets. That's a pub I would drink at.

A simple kind of round the corner pub with a hippie hint!Good for different ales and beers however food is unfortunately not great at all. The cook hates vegetables and cooks them to death, so they are always overboiled. Would be amazing improvement if they would learn how to make a good Sunday roast.Nice atmosphere, quite friendly and usually quiet.

What can you say about the Jolly Sportsman or"The Jolly" as it is affectionately known. It has had its ups and downs over the years like most pubs but this place has a heart. Taken over last year by a family team it has flourished in to a well run proper "local" with good beer, bar snacks and live music. Well worth a visit. 👍👍

We were passing through Chesham and stopped at the Jolly Sportsman for a lunch time pint.It was pretty quiet and very much a locals bar which fills up late afternoon /early evening. Beer was good and well kept. They have sky TV and a large pool table area. The bar looked as though it had been re-furbed and there's a bit of a garden/patio area adjacent to the main road which was quite nice to sit out on during a summer afternoon. I wouldn't call it a family type pub but to be honest it's perfect for the type of visit described.Friendly staff, they do food but we didn't sample.We liked it.5 stars in its class.

Having been here a few times last year I came back with friends to find that the pub has changed significantly. The food menu is very limited; starters, paninis and burgers. That’s all. Burgers were off the menu when I visited meaning I was left with a very small choice of paninis. I ordered the all day breakfast panini and it was pretty much inedible. The panini came with 2 very small rashers of overcooked highly processed bacon, 3 of the smallest slices of mushroom you’ve ever seen and some egg mayonnaise that was blitzed to a pulp so it was impossible to detect any actual egg. Beyond disappointing.
