Reading the reviews, and after our experience tonight, it seems like those bad review who you the restaurant, call out as “lying”…:are not lying but have been telling the truth when they give bad reviews. Awful restaurant. Service terrible. We waited 2 hours for food…nothing turns up. We had to ask for menus. We had to ask for plates from the starters to be removed. We then get greeted by “ali” in the third accent/demeanour of the night 😂 to say it’s on it’s on way. We have nice videos if you want to try to respond where your staff tried to “square up”. We decided not to accept this. The restaurant is basically a corridor where chairs and tables do not fit on the actual floor or carpet. Never been to such a shambles of a restaurant as such where the customer gets called “wrong” for everything when they can’t do a thing right.

Highly recommended! Great food, great people. Ali and his team hosted a large party of us at fairly short notice and couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. There was an understandable wait for our first course since we were such a big group but the atmosphere was good and we had tasty Papadums and drinks. Food was all first class and well presented. The whole party left having had a great time and will definitely be back... Thanks! 🤩

On a recent visit to this supposedly amazing restaurant in Old Amersham there was no running water absolutely in both the womens and mens toilets. Just outside both toilets are 2 huge bottles of hand sanitizer. When i asked the waiter about the water issue he said it’s a problem because the building is old! This was followed up by a lady telling me that she understood my problem but there wasn’t much she could do as it was a water board problem! This is absolute nonsense you cannot operate and run a restaurant with no running water in your bathrooms it is a complete hygiene issue for not only your dining guests but also your staff who are working and serving diners!!!

Only visit if you’re ok going somewhere with no running water in the loos. Do they have handwashing facilities in the kitchen? This is unacceptable

Best curry I’ve had in many years tried the korai, madras, and king prawns was excellent and very fresh. Sauces were beautiful, service was fast and efficient this will be my new local.

Outstanding food and people - we ordered a delivery today, first time customer. My wife called to asked about dairy in the food, they were really friendly and helpful, we then ordered with a note, as suggested, to state we needed the meal dairy free due to allergy. We then had another helpful phone call from them to confirm and advise. Moreover, the food is delicious, each dish was stunning.

We went there on last Sunday and the restaurant was almost full, felt like a Saturday night. The service, the food was amazing. Me and my partner tried few dishes and we must say every dish is unique and got rich flavour to it. It'll be our go to place whenever we're in the town.

Visited restaurant on 21/8 for dinner with my wife. The restaurant was not busy as it was a week night but service was appalling. Suprised that the food quality has also gone down hill as it used to be lovely. It’s a shame as we mentioned the issues to the staff but they were disinterested. Not sure if it was a one off as the owner was not present that evening but we will not be going back.

Been trying restaurants all my life, still haven’t found one to beat the Mughal Palace. The food, the service and the atmosphere is unbeatable. Shiv has impeccable politeness and was more than friendly . It felt like an insult not to tip! Our food came promptly, hot and delicious. Would recommend heavily to all food lovers. Authentic , tasty food

The first time I've tried this lot & they've made it my last. I have a curry usually weekly from various restaurants & have done for many years as well as cook authentic ones myself so know a good one from a bad or indifferent one & unfortunately the one I had delivered was of the latter. The Poppadum's were fine & I suppose so was the Pilar Rice but the Chicken Ceylon which I'd been looking forward to as not so many seem to do this dish these days was quite dreadful. With watery tasteless enormous but not that many pieces of Chicken, no spicy heat & merely a hint of coconut the whole thing was quite tasteless. My two friends found the same with a Chicken Dhansak & Bhuna respectively. Unusually the rice doesn't come with the Dhansak dish here as most do & being the smaller plastic takeaway containers, which weren't that well filled either, doesn't make an already expensive meal much value. Quite how there's a large proportion of great reviews on here & they reckon they're in the top 10% worldwide from millions of Tripadvisor travellers is beyond me from my experience. Perhaps they were having a bad day!

Not a very good restaurant, Ali should concentrate on business more rather then his own imaginary world, Food is ok but not like it will take me to go to that restaurant again, Bombay potato was salty too much, I’ll not recommend

Really Apprecited their outstanding dishes, Mostly we tasted tanduri chicken , Lamb tikka, pilaw rice , and King prawn butterfly. Lamb tikkas has an exceptional tast quite smokey and top of part melt with some sort of flavour which is I really like. Garlic naan with some curry was too good , It gave me another label of food tast. Korma Lamb was watermouthing ❤️ What a friendly staff they have, wish u all the best team Mughal Palace.

First thing first the food is so flavourful that it tastes make me feel of heaven of food.specially the tarka dal,pilaw rice,mango lassi

Excellent freshly prepared food served with love and enthusiasm. The team encouraged our two daughters (12 and 17) to try new dishes which was great. This is a family restaurant who are genuinely vicarious in every way. Food stunning and perfect balance of flavours in my view. The selection of bread is knock out and clearly straight from the tandoor. We can highly recommend all dishes but King Prawns where a big winner on our table. This spot never disappoints

Visiting Amersham called in and I have to state that everything about this small restaurant was excellent.The food,the service,the surroundings could not be faulted.if this restaurant was near my home it would be a go to.Prices very reasonable for the quality of the food I can only recommend that you should try this if you are in the area

This place is outstanding, the history, the wonderful people that own and work there, the food is out of this world. It deserves to be the best place in Amersham. I honestly couldn’t fault any aspect about it, everyone was 10/10. Be sure to ask to see the oldest menu from 50+ years ago.

We ordered a takeaway from Mughal Palace this evening. The food was brilliant as always. It was delicious, fresh and delivered in 20 minutes. Excellent portion sizes. We would just like to say thank you very much for delivering our popadums that we forgot to add to our order. Thank you once again.

Food just left outside freezing cold naan bread, had to turn on oven to heat it up, didn’t eat until 23:35 at night

The delivery was too long but I have to say the long wait worth at the end. I order a lot from them previous day and each items are the best ones but especially the Mango coconut chicken curry 😋 I would select this as their signature dish and it’s blown my mind away. Also the Tandoori chicken and Samosa was ultimate.

This is just a fantastic restaurant, with wonderful, fresh food, so lovingly prepared. The service is caring and extremely friendly. We will be returning with the family. Special favourite dishes include the prawn puri, chicken hariyali and the side of broccoli. We think this is the best curry available anywhere!

Amazing meal. Best Indian food we’ve ever had. The meal choices were different than our local restaurant. The owner spent time talking to us about our choices and making recommendations. If this was local to us we’d definitely be making it out regular choice!

Booked table for 7:30 this evening, turned up right on time, waited 5 minutes to be seated. Although reasonably quick to serve drinks & take our order, waited 90 minutes and our food which still hadn’t arrived. Customers around us had suffered the same experience and thankfully got their food. However, I am not as tolerant of such poor service and got up & walked out and refused to pay for the bottle of wine & popadoms. Wouldn’t have been so bad, if Ali hadn’t lied to us about when we would get our food. This restaurant is a disgrace when you compare them to all the other efficient restaurants in the area. I would advise giving it a miss as they are so incompetent. Shall not ever use them again. In response to AR's quite lengthy response to my complaint, I find myself having ro correct something that AR stated. AR said that I had allowed the couple sitting at the next door to us to have the meal that we had ordered. This is wrong, we did not say this, why would I and why would the next table accept our food? We had ordered something completely different. AR do not claim this is what happened as it did not. The three tables around us had been waiting over an hour for their food. Ali came to my table and said that we were next and we would be served very soon. However 10 minutes later the couple next to us got their food, so what Ali had told us was not true. I have no problem with the couple next to us getting their food before us because they had sat down at 7pm, so obviously were ahead of us in the food queue. Incidentally, they were a 'walk-in' so I blame the restaurant for overloading the restaurant with customers who they clearly could not cater for in a reasonable amount of time. Lastly, AR concluded that the bottle of wine & popadums were on the house. Too right they are, it was the least they could do to compensate for the wasted couple of hours and incidentally, I have no intention of paying for them in any case, so don't try to claim you are being generous.

Enjoyed a very nice chicken tikka masala and pilau rice. Warm welcome from friendly staff. Good menu and pleasant surroundings. Next time I will be more adventurous with my choices and will try a signature dish. My wife had a delicious tandoori chicken. Thank you Mughal Palace we will be back.

This is the second time in two weeks. The food is lovely as always, today we brought our friends as well and they loved the food. We have been recommended to this from our neighbours and glad we have got to know this place. This is a gem of a restaurant in Old Amersham. The food is rich in flavours and spot on, they are really busy even in January which i don't doubt because of the level of service they provide and the food they have. Shout out to Ali and his lovely team. 🔥

Lovely aroma of rose petals and warmth on entry. Nice welcome. Linen tablecloths and napkins. Scattered rose petals on the table. Delicious freshly-prepared food with subtle spices and rich flavours. Tandoori chicken was exceptional. Reasonably-priced, excellent service. We’ll be back!

Claimed he couldn’t find us even though I put directions in the instructions. Then told me he had gone and delivered someone else’s order and that we had to wait even longer. We took another 10 minutes to talk him to our house. Others find it with no extra directions

It was an osum place and I would rate them highest for the customer service, food tastes too good. Obviously this would be my go to place in Amersham!

I decided on this restaurant after all the good TA reviews, 12 of us visited and can say the food was fantastic. There was a couple of people who felt the sauces with the poppadoms were spicy and a couple of the starters were also that way. Management were brilliant and were concerned about their mains in spicy flavour, food in general around the group was tasty and my sag paneer was the best I have tried. Would definitely go back again and am sorry as I didn't get the managers name but I loved the Cobra glass and they allowed me to take one home when I asked to buy. Staff were very attentive and happy to chat and give you the time of day which you don't get in most restaurant's.

No expert, but happy to say that's probably the best I've had 👍

Customer service terrible made a really bad atmosphere Updated in response to owner below comment : Come off it Ali, one new-waiters boisterous is a rugby guys fair banter. Over many years you have set the expectation at the end of a meal costing hundreds that a small 'on the house' drink is returned, and then a generous tip is received. I have every sympathy with your newboy, when you and your tall senior waiter both deserted him to clear the room at the end of friday night. In hindsight you clearly hadn't briefed in this well practiced ritual of 20 years with long standing customers. And shame on you for leaving someone too green to see end of the night banter for what it is.  I've been going there long enough, the waiter good easily have raised these issues with me at the time if he felt uncomfortable, but clearly he wasn't experienced enough to do so.

We visited after being recommended by some friends, loved the ambiance and the most awesome tasty food, a must visit,must try dishes are the mushroom rice, hariyali chicken Tikka and prawn shashlik, namely a few, the kids Loved it so much they want to come every day (wish we could lol) definitely recommend Lovely attentive and welcoming staff and to top it all tastiest Indian food ever Don't take my word for it, visit and decide for yourself

Abit disappointed I didn't get any meat samosas. The naan is also abit too charred on the bottom it ruins the flavor completely all I could taste was the burnt bits. The tikka was perfect!!

Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food.

Amazing Indian restaurant with absolutely delicious food and incredible service, enjoyed every single moment we were there. Ordered 3 different curries and all of them were very tasty especially the naga curry, achari and the mushroom fried rice. Decent protion size as well. Must say, The taste is very different from other Indian restaurants, their signature dishes are very unique to be fair. Basically, the chicken was cooked to perfection, credit goes to the chef. Incredible service as well, the staff were very friendly, welcoming and friendly. Even though it was busy when we were there, they gave their best to serve us with excellent professionalism. Nice ambiance as well. All in all, it was a great experience. 100% recommended and I'll definitely be back.

Went here a few weekends ago. Small place but great service and atmosphere. Chicken biryani was missing something as it seemed very bland. The seek kebabs were good along with the garlic naan. Price was on point for what was eaten.

If you love authentic Indian food then you must visit this gem of a restaurant. Our visit to this restaurant was tremendous serving fantastic food with great service with a friendly atmoshere. It was enlightening that the owner and staff room the time to talk to the customers. It was very interesting to learn of the family history of this business. Would definitely recommend a visit to this restaurant and sure you won't be disappointed.

Best Indian food in the UK! I know that sounds OTT but I promise you it is! The flavours are complex; all dishes are individual; there’s none of that feeling you get with some Indian restaurants that there’s one sauce that acts as a base to all dishes. These guys understand the importance of flavours and aromas and how to use not just chilies but citrus, sweetness, herbs… Try them out.

The food! Amazing! I cannot think of a single Indian restaurant anywhere which understands flavour (not just spicy hotness) better than these guys. Honestly. Just stunning. Every dish is individual and complex; not just samey, hot or medium or mild. Aromas, spices, herbs, sweetness, citrus… There is some serious knowledge and understanding of cooking here. Lovely location too.

food was nice only problem was i ordered the lamb tikka main and a extra pot of mint sauce to go with the pot of sauce you get with the lamb tikka only received 1 pot of mint sauce also never received the tub of salad that you normally get.

Ordered coconut rice which was totally uneatable from the amount of salt on it ( it was literally like I was eating spoonfuls of plain salt) , curry and sag was also quite bland

Lovely Indian restaurant here in Old Amersham. Food was good and service attentive. We went on a Wednesday and it was quiet, but had a great time. Nice flavours and cooked well.

Nice restaurant with a really friendly owner/manager. I wish I could be kinder about the food. The pappadums were, if not stale, certainly not fresh, and the quality of the chicken was very poor. Nice decor and ambiance, but the price for a simple meal was way above what I'd expect.

We visited Mughal Palace to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary as our first date was here over 30 years ago. Although the restaurant has changed hands since, we thought it would be nice to re-visit. We are so glad that we did, we had a wonderful time. The food was amazing and service exemplary, everybody was so friendly. It was honestly the best Indian food that we have ever tasted! Thank you to everyone at Mughal Palace. If you are visiting Amersham we would 100% recommend, it's a treat not to be missed!

This is a review of the takeaway food. Main dish portion sizes are very small, if you are sharing dishes with family I would suggest you double order some. Chicken was way over cooked, dry and chalky, overall dishes lacked any real flavour. Staff on collection were a somewhat standoffish, not rude, but not what you would describe as very welcoming. I wouldn’t rush back

Delivery was great and everything smelled delicious. I thought the paneer in the paneer tikka masala wasn’t cooked enough as it was very tough and not that warm inside. However things took a turn for the worse when I bit down on something in a mouthful of rice and sauce which turned out to be the end of a plastic clothing tag. So I couldn’t eat any more after that, imagining what else could be in the food.

First time here for an excellent meal and service. Mughal mix starter and Dhania chicken main of particular note. Lovely naan bread and pistachio kulfi too. We will be back soon

food was superb as usual only thing is portions are getting a bit smaller which i understand with the prices going up everywhere, i would rather pay that little bit more for the full size portions.

Great food - timely and tasty!

It was like a special treat. From being able to change the table due to noisy group, getting a magnifying glas in absence of glasses, warm plates etc - before even mentioning the food. Best tandoori I had, ever. All accompanied by first class hospitality-...

The Sea Bass was perfection. One of the nicest meals I have had there. Oh for goodness sake. I don't need 100 characters when a meal is as good as that.

My and my wife were craving for a curry and after seeing good reviews about this place we decided to try it ourselves. We must say it was spot on. For starters, we had Garlic Mushroom Malai and Chilli Mango Lamb Tikka and for mains...

Food cold and poppadoms stale. Disappointing on this occasion, usually very nice

Ordered stuffed parathas , paneer jalfrezi and onion bhajis . The stuffed parathas were not fully cooked. Also the onion bhaji was burnt at surface but raw dumpling underneath. Utterly 😞
