Regulars but this time food was rated by the three us best ever gave it a solid 9 out of ten Three different curries all excellent For a Friday night very quiet .

Food has always been consistently of a high level at this long established restaurant. Very traditional menu, but sometimes thats exactly what you want. Service is lowkey but does the job.

Have visited the Spice Society many times over the year and often with friends who ate here weekly. This meant excellent service and always excellent food. If in the area, this is the only curry house of choice.

Excellent small curry house in Amersham. We really enjoyed our visit. Food and staff were excellent. We arrived at 6:45 on a Tuesday evening and within 30 minutes it was almost full.

What a beauty of a find. There was no tables available at my hotel so I came across this little gem. It is the best Indian I have had in a long time! Full of flavour and very reasonably priced. My bottle of wine was £14.50! The staff were very attentive and I had a lovely evening. Thank you 🙏

Extremely disappointed. We called Spice Society to order a takeaway, after high recommendation from friends. However, advised they do not cater for nut/sesame allergy (they use sesame oil in everything). Staff was unhelpful over the phone. Unable to recommend.

This was a complete potluck discovery for dinner. The restaurant is narrow and deep, it doesn’t look anything special. We arrived early for dinner but the restaurant gradually filled with other diners. My husband ordered his usual chicken tikka masala with a little more heat and it was utterly delicious. The onion bhajis were utterly heavenly - light, dry and crisp, with not a hint of grease. Go there just for the bhajis! He also had pilau rice and peshwari naan. My tandoori chicken was a generous half, with it I had tarka dhal and plain rice, it was all lovely. We ordered wine, the yellow label Rioja Crianza which costs £7 in a supermarket. Here we were charged just £14! When was the last time you bought a bottle of wine with dinner for so little?

We have been to this restaurant on regular occasions, and we were here just before Christmas, which was, as usual, a fabrastic meal, great service, great food. Last night, we collected our order to eat at home, and yes, the food was just as lovely, hot, fresh, and gorgeous! This is our favourite Indian restaurant in the area, and you can not fault it! Thankyou! We will be back!

Pretty rough experience, service was atrocious, the waiter with the below chin beard practically threw our plates at us and treated any request or order as if we were personally slighting him! Food wasn’t as good or as well prices as the other Indian restaurant in Old Amersham, lamb was tough and flavorless, cheese naans had no cheese! Mughal Palace is miles better and cheaper, no contest

Lovely small restaurant with attentive staff and very tasty food. We had a take away last month and decided to eat in the restaurant this time, very impressed with great food done well, and great value too.

Not happy! Booked a table a week ago. Turned up to be told that they had no record of our booking. They refused to accommodate us. Really unimpressed. Another local curry house got our business so their loss! We won't be back

Was not expecting such delicious food at such a good price! My only negative is that it took almost an hour for our food to be cooked. However I will note it was a busy Saturday night

Excellent food all round. Seating a little cramped but reasonable value when considering this is situated in the over-priced area of Old Amersham and similar nearby restaurants are a lot more expensive.

Very worst service, food is not indian at all, just using indian name, ordered paneer tikka masala which is full of sweet flavor, who the hell make paneer tikka in sweet flavor.Rude staff.

Worst experience ever ! I had an incredibly disappointing experience at spice society. The customer service was abysmal, and the food was equally terrible. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that the staff had no interest in providing a pleasant dining experience. They were rude and inattentive, making me feel unwelcome. To make matters worse, the food was a disaster. One of the ordered dish was paneer tikka masala, and it arrived sweet and taste was bad. I tried to get the attention of the server to address the issue, by asking them to make it a bit spicy. To that, they just added raw red chilli powder to it. I was not able to eat it. As soon as we had our our bite, it started to hit in our throat. We asked for water and noticed they had not even served us glasses of water. As an Indian, I know how this food ahould be actually, and what this restaurant is missing. I will never return to spice society and strongly advise others to steer clear as well. The combination of dreadful customer service and inedible food makes this place a complete waste of time and money.

A restaurant which has never lost its touch over the years. A great favourite.

I rang to book on the 11th August (proof on my phone that I rang the restaurant) to book for 8 people for Friday 18th August. I arrive with my friends on Friday night, only to be told that 'you don't have a booking' by two very rude staff on the door. No workaround, no apology, just a point blank refusal. We had to make alternative plans at 8pm on a Friday night, and I won't ever be booking Spice Society again in future.

Have had takeaway many many times, which is always great, and took the chance to dine in while back in town. Friendly and attentive service, and food was incredible - felt even better than their takeaway! Very nice atmosphere on a Saturday night in the cosy restaurant.

Been going for years but the last couple of times we have been rushed, the chicken was tuff couldn't cut it we told staff about but they didn't seemed bothered. We won't be going again .

This Indian restaurant is the best in Amersham. It always delivers on the most tasty consistent Indian food. It’s amazing value for money. The tables are sometimes cramped and it’s a narrow restaurant but the food and service make up for it. Cannot recommend highly enough for eat in and take away.

Nice family meal. Calm and tolerant attention from waiters. Decent food. Probably the best place for Indian food if taking a family on a Sunday night.

This is always our go to curry, staff are friendly the food is fantastic. You need to book ahead they are always busy. Highly recommended.

Our first Indian takeaway in Amersham and did not disappoint. 10/10 we will be coming back for sure. Food was fresh, would highly recommend. Was also extremely impressed that this restaurant offered to remove ‘almond’ from some of their dishes due to a nut allergy and none of the restaurants we rang would do this (that’s when you know it’s really fresh). Also 2 free beers was a great touch

Food is good. Although has been modified a bit to match English taste buds. But overall good food, reasonable price and good quantity.

We arrive for our meal at 8:15pm we waited 15 minute wait in a cramped waiting area, and I mean cramped. We eventually got to our table hungry and thirsty. Even these seats were cramped for 4 people. Waiters passed us without a look. 2 of the side plates were dirty. When I told a waiter, he just took them away and replaced with clean. He didn’t even ask us if we wanted to order a drink. Half an hour later a waiter came over and asked if we were ready to order. I told him we have been waiting half hour, you could have a least offered us a drink. His response was, I’m here now. We walked out. They had no care in looking after us at all. This our second very poor experience at this restaurant. We Will not be going there ever again.

I have been visiting this lovely Indian restaurant for almost 20 years and can honestly say , nothing is to much trouble. The staff are all lovely and I would highly recommend this little Gem .

I go to the Spice Society once a week and always enjoy the food and hospitality the staff are always friendly and welcoming. I particularly enjoyed the Hyderabad lamb, and the Dhansak is a particular favourite, look forward to going there tonight.

I've visited this restaurant several times over the years and have usually always enjoyed the food, however, during my recent visit the attitude of the staff was appalling. They were not very welcoming, and everything just seemed too much trouble for them. Judging by the attitude of all the staff it was abundantly clear that they just didn't want to be there. One particular waiter was not impressed when, at the end of our meals, we requested coffee, and whilst we were drinking it we were he came over to tell us they were closing, it wasn't even 9.15pm!

Was given good recommendations about this place but was so let down staff seemed to want us to leave ASAP food wasn’t up to the expectations of myself or my partner the vegetarian tikka was so much closer to a korma than any other tikka I’ve ever known the chicken buna wasn’t up to scratch the only good things were the poppadoms and the naan unfortunately it’s given me a bad stomach too and I will not be using this restaurant again The only reason I’ve put two stars is it was set in a nice location

Another fab meal here yesterday, food is absolutely lovely, good range on the menu and they’re always happy to try and get you what you want if not on the menu. Decor is a bit dated but that adds to its charm and especially like that it doesn’t seem to have distraction of getting deliveries out so food arrives quickly. Great value too so make sure you book as it’s always busy.

We only usually get a takeaway from Spice society - its a special saturday night treat for me as hubby is very picky and won't normally have a takeaway - so its a special treat for me. This latest takeaway wasn't up to the usual very high standard, not as tasty or spiced as it normally is. Although it was very palatable each dish sadly lacked that special flavour, the Chicken tika Masala was very bland and pale in colour and the Lamb Bhuna didn't have the usual depth of flavour. Strangly the Lamb Bhuna was written as Lamb Boonah on the lid - I have never heard an Indian Bhuna spelt that way - maybe not the usual chef? Please revert to the normal spiced and flavoured that we are used to.

Best Indian restaurant in bucks

Fantastic food and staff as always, can’t beat the hyderabadi lamb and chilli balti massala. No need to visit any other Indian restaurant in the local area as spice is consistently great.

Visited this week with a friend. The food was great, and the restaurant while a typical curry house, was clean & comfortable. The service was fast and friendly, and the whole experience was very pleasant.

Due to current Covid situation we haven’t not eaten out in a while. However we decided to order a take away today and it was top standard as always, they never fail to impress. My lamb Dansak (my usual disk) was Impeccable. Looking forward to eating in again.

Food average to good but let down by a slightly rude staff member who didn't want to bring fresh cutlery to the table after the starter and almost argued with us about it. Eventually they rather reluctantly agreed to bring a clean knife after they dropped it onto the table. I'd still return because the food is better than the other Indian restaurant in Old Amersham.

I have been using spice society for years and never had a bad meal I understand due to covid19 it must have been so hard for local businesses to survivive but if u serve up the poop we had tonight and then to be told we r buying it in u will undo your loyal fanbase in an instant do not serve your customers who have been using u for years inferior poop

Open again for takeaway on some days but best to avoid this month as it’s Ramadan and the food is well below average. Either their main chef is taking a religious holiday or they don’t/ can’t for religious reasons taste the food.

As a veggie I ordered a dish which didn't arrive. I asked for it an the 'boss' told me it was something else. I was horrified. He inferred I was drunk, being the nominated driver I was stone cold sober hence this review. The forgot my dish and others. Sadly I will not eat there again and advise you all not to either. Rude, arrogant, judgemental and plain right awful, take heed! If i could give less than one start I would!

Affordable pricing. The service and the presentation is great. I wish I could say the same about the food. Very far from authentic Indian food. Soggy chapattis, Chicken Jalfrezi overloaded with Turmeric and very tiny portion of undercooked onion bhajji was something I got.

Food is excellent as usual. No artificial colouring. Fresh. The restaurant is small. Very busy so book early. We usually book one week early.

The food was good, tasty, but nothing extraordinary or amazing. The restaurant itself is very small, nice and cosy. But the service was incredibly rude. Food was thrust down on to the table whilst shouting out what it was, drinks orders were refused to be taken, rushed clearing, and very unwelcoming. Other reviews are glowing, and others very much like this so it may depend on what day you go and who is working. Won’t be rushing back. Much rather head to Papad in Chesham.

Food is good but the service standards can be patchy. And if you are looking to stay beyond 1030 pm this isn’t the place for you.
