Since new management took over the overall ambiance has changed and not for the better. The service seems slower and the staff a lot less cheery. The food also not as it used to be . Doesn't feel like the Kings head that I know so won't be going back

A large family birthday celebration dinner. The menu had something for every taste, including an erstwhile vegetarian recently turned carnivore who was able to put together a marvellous customized, ie. off-menu meat platter including steak, chicken and eggs - wonderful. Lovely old style English pub with very friendly and accommodating staff!

Huge thank you to Harry, Joel, Wilson and all the staff for their help in hosting mine and my wife's wedding celebration with all our friends and family. They were excellent in getting the pavilion and outdoor space just the way we wanted it for the night, and were really communicative throughout the planning process. On the night, the service was fantastic, with lots of people commenting on how good the barbecue was. All in all, a fantastic experience. Really recommend the space they have outside with the garden/patio/paviliion if you are looking to host a birthday, anniversary or any other event!

Very polite attentive staff. Curry was great but just on limit with its chilli kick to it. Fluffy rice. Well made. The sticky toffee pud wasnt as youd expect. In essence Toffee sauce on a cake. Not the moist date heavy (like xmas) pud consistency id expected and served cold. Quickly replaced with hot one. If a cake, was very good but not as a pud. Almost no dates fruit in. Chef to look into the recipe used. Friends apple crumble was liked. Overall a good meal. Thankyou

I was here for the first time with a large group, booked well in advance and food ordered in advance as well. I’ve passed this restaurant a million times probably, but never stopped in. As I said we ordered food ahead of our visit, but the restaurant changed hands and menus and we were told with only 2 days notice. That said, the food was very good, better than a lot of pub food, with nice vegetarian options. They have seating inside the pub as well as a large outdoor seating area and a private pavilion , which was where we were. There was basically only one server assigned to us, so despite clearly having all the food ready for us at the same time, it was a little slow to get to us. I ended up staying a lot longer than I had intended because time coming back with dessert menus and taking orders and paying all took an age. I would definitely recommend.

Our end of year party costing £20 per head for bbq food was very disappointing. The bread rolls sat out in the heat for more than half an hour whilst the potato salad and coleslaw also sat curdling for a considerable time in the heat of the day. Eventually burgers and chicken were cooked, both of which were tasteless. I will not be returning or recommending to anyone I know. McDonalds would have been a better choice and value for money.

I'm a not cis person who used to work here and I was treated with a lot of respect. Despite my passport still being in my deadname, Matt, the manager, already knew about deed polls and ensured only my legal chosen name appeared on the system to the point nobody even knew my passport had the wrong name on it. Matt always listened to me about any issues I raised and took the time to get to understand more about being not cis and not straight in general. Whilst the clientele isn't overtly not straight, I always felt respected by staff and management. Only once did I experience anti not-cis from a customer and Matt and the assistant manager saw that it upset me and assured me they would contact that customer (they had been in before) to inform them they had upset a staff member and that won't be tolerated. Overall I enjoyed my time working at the King's Head and would be happy to work there again. The chef has changed since I worked there but I always enjoyed the food although more vegetarian options would be nice. More food than I expected was made from scratch which is cool. There is a good range of drinks, especially Rebellion, but most cocktails aren't available. I wrote this review as another trans person said they experienced discrimination here which I was surprised about as my time here was very good Disclaimer: some words had to be changed as Google is hiding this review due to the language used

Very disappointing Roast today. We have had the roast beef on other occasions but not too recently and it was delicious. Sadly not so this time as it seems that the standards are dropping at least in the roasts on offer. When our food arrived we had to ask for replacement roast potatoes as the ones received looked like boiled potatoes not roasted, the replacement ones we received were better but certainly not crispy and just about roasted. The gravy didn't pour very well as it was thick and gloopy and just about ok taste wise. The vegetables consisted of very plain cauliflower, broccoli, large sliced carrots(not glazed) and large pile of tasteless red cabbage. The Yorkshire puds didn't taste very fresh or had much taste. the person who served us did try to help and we were offered free puddings which we declined and accepted 20% discount. Sadly we won't be rushing back for the roasts and not sure about other menu options (we have been for lunch during the week). We needed to put our concerns in a review as there needs to be an improvement.

This place is not queer friendly. I wouldn't recommend this place for any queer people. I applied to work there, the trial shift went good, no major issues. After once I had to give my information I had to put my dead name even though I said I had a legal name change document but still was told to put my dead name. I iterated multiple times that I am not comfortable people seeing any of this Information, I was reassured that it would only be on the system. After going though there entire induction system that took many hours, including a section of inclusiveness that I had to give a statement of inclusiveness so everyone was trained not to discriminate. Yet on the first Rota given out I was dead named infront of the entire work force, these kind of actions has gotten me in genuine danger, assaulted and hurt in the past and am appalled and lidiv at there treatment of me as they ignored me for over half a day after I contacted them about the mistake and how they made me feel. Eventually leaving me to quit before I even had my first shift. This behaviour is appallingly and Isn't something I will tolerate. If you are queer I wouldn't recommend this establishment.

Booked for a birthday lunch. The person who took the order for food and drink was very pleasant and super efficient. The starters came fairly quickly, the prawns on the prawn cocktail were the size of a shrimp and the lettuce leaves were very small. The whitebait were few and far between and tasted as though the oil used to cook them was very old and needed changing. The mains came and the scampi had been overcooked and was hard to chew, the chips tasted was if they had been cooked the day before and refried. The gammon steaks were hard and overcooked and similarly with the chips, they tasted of old cooking oil. I ordered the warm chocolate brownie, which had been burnt on one corner and was extremely small in size. Overall the food was not good and it was expensive, costing us £118.35 and with two beers and an orange juice and lemonade the bill came to £130.19! That's a lot of money when you're not happy with what you've had. Won't be going back anytime soon.

The worst Roast Dinner I can recall having for a very long time. Gammon was a grilled steak and chewy. Yorkshire puddings were not really yorkshire pudding. They were cold, flat, undercooked and more like an un risen cake. 3 tiny Roast potatoes, some almost raw Brocolli and and very small amount of other very average vegetables. All for £19. No one came to the table to ask how anything was, no sauces offered, no one came to ask if we wanted more drinks that were finished before the dinner arrived. Missing items from our order. There was nothing positive about this dinner and we will certainly not be going back. Update following reply - You removed the cauliflower cheese that we ordered and never received and the discount was 10%. Which was the service charge that you had added to the bill. Therefore there was no actual discount.

Before I open I wish it to be known by whosoever chooses to read the enclosed that I truly wanted to enjoy The King’s Head in Little Marlow and it is with a heavy heart that I turn to pen these sombre words. On an inclement afternoon one late October day our motley cast of wet and weary walkers darkened the door of this establishment in search of ale and board. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the setting charmingly anachronistic. I regret to inform you, dear reader, that this is where the virtues ended. What was to follow was sadly nothing short of a barbarically overpriced roast dinner. The beef, so often tender and flavoursome, was closer to the sole of a shoe cooked within an inch of its life. The Yorkshire, which on another day may have risen to fluffy heights, was all but as flat as a pancake and regrettably charred. The boiled vegetables lacked flavour, and those few roast parsnips and carrots that were provided were almost raw. A glimmer of hope persisted in the form of roast potatoes, however the meagre portion (just three small roasties on my plate) made this brief deliverance all too fleeting. The price totals twenty five pounds if one opts to include cauliflower cheese (an option that I cannot in good faith endorse). I am sad to say that the quantity and mediocrity of the food does not come near to justifying this rate. If such a princely sum is demanded then the standard of the product must increase drastically. By all means, come to The King’s Head, enjoy an ale and dawdle for a moment in its antique corridors. Think of those lives that have come before, the feet that have trodden its floors and the deals struck in the dark conspiratorial corners of this bygone tavern. But, my friend, please do not order the roast.

Pretty untidy, given the limited number of customers when we visited, just a little l surprised such has not been attended to. The far end seemed to be set aside as an open storage area. I have visited many times before and had a lovely meal with great service, always a bit pricey though. However, I have not been in to eat since last summer. I booked a table for me and a friend, we arrived on time, the pub was almost empty so we had a choice of seats. We were offered drinks and the menu. We ordered starters and mains which took awhile to arrive considering we were the only people eating. The food was fine, we weren’t offered any condiments etc. We finished our main around 8:30 bearing in mind we booked so they were aware we would be eating, were told we couldn’t order a dessert as the chef had gone home! But they had “kindly” left the tea an coffee machine on for us. I’m aware that they close early but we couldn’t have eaten ore meals any quicker. So we had a rushed tea as it was very obvious that we needed to leave as the chap behind the bar wheeled out the floor mop and used a very strong smelling disinfectant. Nothing like feeling welcome! Thought we’d give this local pub ago, but there are certainly more welcoming better value pubs nearby.

I'm not sure by what to start. The waitress didn't know what pie of the day it was (at 6pm), the kids burger was a very small patty (on the burnt side) in a very large bun and kids pizza was made out of ketchup instead of tomato sauce. I ordered potatoes with my pie (any kind of potatoes but not chips) and got chips. The greens served with the pie were still quite crunchy. Given the price of the food (quite expensive for a small town pub) we were expecting some decent food and have been very disappointed, with a very expensive cheque. 1st time trying this pub. Fantastic Food, Great atmosphere and really thorough and friendly staff. We were served by Ellie and another lovely lady who’s name we didn’t catch. Great Sunday roast with huge portions that they even gave us a take away box as we were so stuffed :)

Went for an evening meal for my brothers birthday and had booked the outside room as my parents are elderly. I have been here before a few times and was really disappointed by the standard of service we received on this occasion. We waited ages for drinks when ordered. We checked inside the pub and it was not busy, just 3 or 4 people so not overwhelmed. We pre ordered food and despite going over how people wanted their steak on the night it was still incorrect when it came out. The starters were really small. The sink in the toilets was filthy. The door did not shut properly to the room and so it was really cold at times. For a bill of over £50 a head I expected better.

Very good sunday lunch, proper pub feel, perhaps a wider choice of beers would be nice but what they had was good. The service was genuine friendly and very good. We will go back.

Went for work do. The food was OK, my desert was the nicest where it's left from the burnt bit. Parking is not great at the main entrance but there is a parking area at the back where you can access it through another road. For what we paid, I expected better. The staff was very friendly and quick.

Very friendly and exceptionally clean. Friendly staff and a really nice Sunday roast. The pithivier was a really great touch fir my vegetarian partner. Only criticism would be the garden lacked some atmosphere maybe some quite background music would "lift" it

Visited last week and didn't enjoy the food. The chips were so deep fried I couldn't put my fork into them. The Mediterranean tart was a pastry case with ratatouille, my salad was coated in a heavy dressing. My husbands steak was fine but his onion rings were overcooked. The tables weren't clean and were sticky. The final insult was the 12.5 % service charge which as far as I can see is not shown on the website. I've decided to post a review as the more I think about it the worse it is and it's now become the bench mark of how bad a meal can get.

Due to a mess up by the Chequers, Fingest, we had to find a table last minute for Sunday roast. The Stag were so accommodating, managing to squeeze us all in. The staff were super helpful, attentive and friendly. Big shouts to Miguel and Ava. The roasts were all great and we had a lovely meal. Thanks!
