We had a booking for 8 people, but there was no designated table prepared for us, didn't even have anyone welcome us in. No table big enough so we had to move a table ourselves. After sitting down and asking them to clean the table for us, another member of staff made us move as we were slightly obstructing the way to the toilets and for health and safety purposes (even though we wasn't blocking them) and told us to move to a different table that wouldn't be in the way of other diners when we put a table on the end which then meant we were completely blocking the fire exit. Clearly h&s doesn't really matter. Even though we were there for Sunday lunch (1pm) they didn't have some of the items on the menu, including 2 out of the 3 roast options. After 55 minutes of waiting, the food finally arrived and wasn't great. Steak wasn't cooked to order, fish batter was soggy, roast chicken over cooked and garnishes missing. Been a long time since we last came and will certainly be a long time until we come again.

Our first time here, and was such a nice experience, Jo was a fantastic chef and our food was fantastic, and the service from Jordan on the bar made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend this place for a nice relaxing meal with good food and drinks.

Had an amazing family lunch. Despite having no grill and therefore a reduced menu, the staff did amazingly well and we all chose a variety of meals including a Sunday Roast, Scampi, Hunters Chicken and a Veggie Burger. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. Big shout out to Jo who did an amazing job looking after us.

This was the worst meal I have had out. Had the chicken roast - the meat was okay but the vegetables were terrible. One of our group asked for the vegetarian sausages with the roast vegetables - the unappetising sausages arrived about 20 minutes before the vegetables which were terrible. The pub did not feel very welcoming or very clean. The place was nearly empty - word has obviously got around about the standard of the food. We only went there because all the other local ones were booked up

Food not available when I visited, which was surprising at 5pm. This wasn't a problem though as I was there for the football, which was a great atmosphere and staff worked very hard to keep up with drinks needed.

Will not return here. Party of seven , no bacon on hunters chicken , no chips for half of orders so had to have FRIES.. Chicken was tough and crumble was very hard . Not good at all .

Awful place....where do I start. Dirty and rundown, needs a deep clean and complete refurbishment. Tables, menus dirty, food staining on the walls, chairs tatty....I could go on. No one to greet or point you to a table or even a notice telling you to take a seat and order at the bar. Eventually when food was served.... mains arrived before the starters. When we asked where the starter was, the server marched off back to the kitchen, came back with starters and plonked them on the table...in the middle of the main courses. Needless to say the chicken strips and popcorn were dried up. Everyone had something missing on their mains plate...no peas, no sauce, no sour cream or no gravy as listed on the menu. No excuse as there were only 3 tables of customers, 12 people in total. When we complained, we were given 30 per cent off the bill...some consolidation....but we won't be rushing back anytime soon. This was the second time within a few weeks that we visited this pub...last time (2 of us, totalling 9 in the restaurant area) we waited 2 hours for the food to be served, firstly to the wrong table and then items missing. Shame, as it used to be a lively pub with events and live music. Food was basic, but cooked well and service was good. But as for our visit last Saturday night... there's more life in a cemetery.

Went in the pub today was really greeted by friendly staff and land lady was very very helpful and the service was fantastic I will recommend the pub to my friends also first time in my pub will be using it again in the future

Steak And ale pie. Under Cooked pastry, steak inards bland. I think it had carrot in the pie And no mention of it on menu. Maybe, I should hope its carrot and not swede or ill be ill. Chips bland and no finesse with food presentation.

Extremely rude lady on the bar. We were there last Friday afternoon. The lady on the bar who was extremely rude and had no sense of customer service at all! We were greeted with 'What do you want? Couldn't be any more miserable!! Ordered food, she slammed on the table and told us' if we need cutlery or anything to go inside to get ourselves. What a ......! Seriously if you don't like that job, you know where the door is hun!! And I've been polite! What a Joke!

Didn't have paper napkins on the table. One employee, Jo, was clever and got us some kitchen roll. Later she discovered two napkins and brought them to us. We sat by the windows on a sunny day but it still seemed a bit dim. Lighting could be improved. Noise from enthusiastic watchers of football on the bar TVs.

Ran out of several drinks by 8:30pm when the staff knew for at least two and half months there was going to be a private event. I had £2.60 change from a £20 note, buying two double drinks. Long Island ice tea just tasted like whisky and coke, the sours that go with it wasn’t available. Buffet food was lovely. A HUGE let down. Don’t wast your time, or money.

For some strange reason, this pub didn't give me a welcoming feeling. The food too very long to arrive and when it finally did, it was not enjoyable. I hardly ate any of my food. We went because we had 2 "30% off mains" food vouchers. I used one obviously during this visit, but I threw the other in the bin because I won't be going back.

Haven't been here for so long but thought I'd give it a try as they were doing 30% off mains for a few weeks. It's always been pleasant and the food has been average but the food was outstanding!!! The prices on food have increased but are still reasonable and happy to pay for decent food which this was! Staff were really friendly and very approachable. Sitting outside in the sunshine in the beer garden was really lovely. Great seating area. Totally recommend this pub.

Apparently there is a new chef and waitresses. The food was very good and the service was excellent. We used our 30% off mains coupon that was put through the letterbox. Maybe by just updating the decor would encourage more people.

Myself and two friends visited the Kings Head Tuesday evening at 7pm as they had an offer of 30% off mains. I ordered our meals at 19.15, 1 scampi 1 light sirloin and 1 rump steak. I was told that fries would replace chips. After half an hour I was informed that there was no sirloin and would I accept rump. I said yes despite the difference in price. When the meals arrived both steaks came with fries peas and onion rings. I pointed out that I ordered the salad rice and grains but as we had been waiting about an hou we accepted the plates. On looking at the menu we were missing the mushrooms and tomato. I mentioned this when the plates were cleared and we received an apology and a bag of nuts. The service from the bar was very good but I won't be eating here again soon. We usually visit the General Roy and will go there next week.

We wanted to get some food before drinks but they stopped serving food at 19:30! Unless you go straight from work I'm not sure how this works. Never known a kitchen to close up so early. Had to move on.

We have lived in the area for almost 7 yrs and today while passing by, thought we would have lunch here. Went in and waited for staff member to guide to table . Saw a waitress come out with food and I asked her, do we sit any where as it was nearly empty and she didn’t even say hello or anything and literally barked at us the food waiting time was 2 hrs. No sorry or anything. We just left very disappointing.

Booked a table at The Kings Head to sample their 'new menu' as per flyer delvered to our house. Arrived at time booked for (18:30) only to find no table reserved, but it really didn.t matter as the pub is not the cleanest, tables had not been cleaned and they had no steak, mixed grill, fish & chips, etc available, curtly stating they have had a busy day. The place has a poor atmosphere, not very clean and disinterested staff. Just avoid as plenty of other pub/restaurants nearby that are much better and interested in good customer service.

I booked a table for 7 of us as it's the 1st birthday after the passing of my brother last year. It was meant to be a special event for my family. When we arrived, there was nobody at the restaurant area so we went to the bar. We were met with rude and incompetent staff that had no idea what was going on. I was asked when I'd booked the table only to get a vague response that there might have been something in the diary? I even had a text to confirm my booking that I replied with a yes to. The staff here really couldn't care less about our booking and had an incredibly rude attitude as if we were just an inconvenience. We left and went to another restaurant where we were welcomed and had a great time. How can you operate a business like this. I won't return and I'll recommend nobody I know will go there either! Had the rump steak on steak night & can say the food was excellent, if you want a steak that’s 100% value for money visit the Kingshead on a Thursday night. Keep up the great work & we will definitely be back for a steak.

I visited this pub earlier today. I was very impressed by how well presented the building and the staff were. In particular, Zara is a credit to the team, quite the character! I will definitely visit again.

I find the pub the ideal community centred location to socialise on my own and in company. Since the kitchen work the food has improved out of all recognition and your team led superbly by the dark brunette lady and her team should be congratulated for creating a warm and welcoming traditional British pub. Really disappointed with our experience, have been here several times previously but we had booked weeks in advance for Mother’s Day, we went in as family to have lunch and drinks. Firstly we were advised there was no full menu only 1 roast dinner was left and the rest was a gluten free menu with half the items not being available, we were then told to wait and they would come back to see if they can open a bigger menu but this was a no, just advised there was now turkey and beef roasts… no one asked about allergies, one of us do have allergies but thankfully nothing mentioned on the menu of this, and there was only 5 things to choose from on the menu anyway, ordered drinks and wrong alcohol was given, the food came and to be fair it did all come hot however the open sandwich was meant to be filled with slices of rump steak, grilled peppers and nacho cheese sauce…. It came and the baguette wasn't cooked, the ‘slices of rump steak’ was 3 small chunks you could never have called it the Philly cheese steak they said it was. New staff in the bar area, difficult for them as they did not know what to do and on a busy Sunday including it being Mother’s Day, maybe not advised to have new staff but I mean we all need to learn somewhere so not knocking this just maybe could have thought it out a bit better. Was over charged on the bill by £10 we were not even provide a bill just came with the card machine, checked this and corrected. Everything was unorganised, felt rushed and just disappointed by the whole food situation as it was meant to be a nice special lunch and was nothing even close to this.

I came down to watch the football today, and was well looked after by both Leanne and Jordan. Friendly staff, great atmosphere to be in and all round excellent time. Will be back in again due to the great service and drinks provided.

I was more than pleased with the service I received. The steak I ordered was cooked to perfection my partner went for hunters chicken which she found to be amazing. The decor and staff were really pleasant. Great value compared to other establishments in the area. I will recommend to both friends and family . Thank you to the team at the Kings head great service. I will be back for more soon no doubt.

Lovely pub lovely food shame the young lad working behind the bar was sat on his phone most of the time. Apart from that everything else was great the pub was clean was served with a smile from the lovely bar maid will always recommend this pub!

Despite having booked a table for 7 people for the 25th January, and receiving confirmation from The Kings Head, plus a message from them on the 24th asking for confirmation that our booking still stood, we arrived to find no reservation on any table. I found a member of staff in the bar who said we could sit anywhere in the restaurant. There was only one table suitable for 7 people but as this was next to a radiator and was far too hot we moved to the small, private area/ room even though it had not been cleaned. Once our guests arrived and went to the bar to order drinks the staff member would not accept a tab, even the credit/debit card. As we had not seen one member of staff apart from the bar person and were not happy they would not run a tab, we left. We felt nobody was interested in us or our booking and went to the Kings Fairway where we had a great lunch, were looked after and could run a tab! Their gain the Kings Head loss and we will not be returning to The Kings Head.

I ordered the fish and chips. I can categorically say that it is the worst fish and chips I have EVER had. The batter had way to much flour and when you cut into it there was water under the batter, the peas were raw. Totally unacceptable

Good food, staff seemed more under pressure than usual and the menu seems to have reduced from our last visit but still an enjoyable time was had by all.

I booked the whole area of the restaurant last night 20th January. I was appalled to learn that even though my food orders were requested a few days prior to event the kitchen staff could not provide my request on the night. When meals started to arrive, I was disgusted that they looked like they had been thrown together on the plates. The presentation was totally unacceptable. I was asked if I wanted one egg or two with gammon, one or two pineapple rings. I requested one of each on the two meals. They arrived with no pineapple and two eggs just slapped on top of food on the plate. I had to ask three times for one of the meals. Some of my friends whose visit was their first time said that they would not go again or recommend the Kings head. Surely in this day and age quality service and food is vital for a business to survive!! Not once we're we asked if our food was OK. I chose not to complain last night based on my guests not wishing to spoil my daughters birthday celebration. My sons bill came to £107 and my bill came to just over £180 I would expect better service for that kind of money. It felt like we we're in a cheap cafe. Please treat this as a formal complaint. A very dissatisfied customer, family and friends

New years day. Pub had been busy over Xmas period so had run out of steak etc but we were satisfied .staff were excellent

I booked a table on line for 7.30pm, received confirmation by both email and text. When we arrived at the pub we were told there was no table for us. The staff were unhelpful and dismissive. We had to get a taxi to another pub.

We booked to see Santa for breakfast. The whole thing was so badly organised, the staff looked like they'd just got up, nothing was ready, we didn't know where to sit, and there was still a Happy Birthday banner up, presumably from the night before ! We waited 2 HOURS for our food!!! By the time we got ours, most people had eaten theirs, seen Santa, and were getting ready to leave. When our food eventually came out, it was OK, but my daughter had beans and toast, and the toast was so burnt she didn't eat it. The Xmas Dec's were very minimal, some Christmas music would have been nice to create some atmosphere. A couple of us moaned, and we were given a full refund and an apology, finally. It's a shame, we've been in there for lunch on a few occasions and the service has been much better. I'd say this was a massive learning curve for them!

15 of us booked for festive menu on boxing day 4pm. Unfortunately the chef walked out about 3.45 and dropped the service staff right in it. They did as much as they could and served us what was available I.e starters etc free round of drinks and our deposit returned. Shame for the waitresses as they did as much as they could. We tried to enjoy the food they served and the family xmas reunion. Well done the remaining staff at The Kings Head. Happy New year to you all but not to the chef who left you you in a mess X

Brilliant organisation. I had booked an area for my father’s wake. Lovely food. Well presented. We were left alone and not bothered, but staff were on hand if we needed them.

The lady that served us was really helpful and lovely! The food was absolutely gorgeous and can’t wait to come back for another Sunday lunch.Her name was Joanne.

Had a lovely evening yesterday.

Good food at very reasonable prices. All seven of us enjoyed what we ate. Great service from the young man looking after us. He also made a friend in our seventeen month grandson, Don’t know his name but hopefully we’ll get same server and service next time. And that won’t be too long.

Absolutely brilliant pub great atmosphere. Staff are so friendly and welcoming very reasonable prices on alcohol and food and food was excellent. Highly recommend.

Clean friendly pub. Good food, good company, nice place to hang out for a pub lunch. Large beer garden at the back, loads of parking space, wheelchair accessible. The pub now has a pizza oven and offers a selection of made on the premise pizzas which are delicious. I can recommend the spicy chicken pizza; nice bit of heat without blowing your head off.

Great place for a nice meal and drinks plus sport on tv is available too to even better highly recommended

Worst pub food I think I've ever had. Might well have been microwave meals they were thay bad.. gravy like water mixed with horse radish sauce on your plate is ridiculous..both mashed and what they call roast potatoes aswell on one dish ..mental overall food was trash..service was non existent. In and out within 45 mins and never will return

We sat in the restaurant part with our drinks as the main bar area was full. We didn't eat food. Served fairly quickly at the main bar. Staff were neither friendly or unfriendly.

Food was good. 2 of us are gluten free, we ordered 2 cowboy burgers, and 1 gammon and eggs. Chips were lovely, burger good, but felt it could do with a bit of moisture, a bit dry, maybe tomato, or onions. Staff very attentive.

Ordered wine, hunter's chicken and soup. The hunter's chicken served was cold, bad quality chicken, pics taken. The tomato soup that was served came in a soup bowl and it had literally less than 1/4th of the quantity in it. Pics taken. The staff was trying too hard and I was informed that this is starter and that's how much is served here. I work in a management in hotel and hospitality business for the past two decades with masters in Hotel Management. I have not seen such a behaviour and wrong information being provided to a customer. I was then told that its a starter and this bowl is too big. This was ridiculous and unheard of. Soups are starters and they are served in soup bowls, this further sounded condescending and insult on top. Is this the portions you serve and is this how the customers are treated? The pictures of the soup portion will definitely go on social media. Absolutely disgusted and an experience unheard of.

We had visitors from abroad and they wanted to try english food and feel the pub atmosphere. Unfortunately as we walked in, the workers had taken one look at us (there were ten of us) and muttered between themselves ‘oh god look how many there are..’ and then turned to us and immediately said ‘the kitchen is closed.’ We were there at 19:45. Unacceptable behaviour even if we wanted to only stay for a drink… we will never come back

We had the steak Thursday deal. The staff were very pleasant but the food. Wow, for a Thursday deal @ £11.95 for a 8oz Sirloin with a pint was outstandonf The meat was great quality, I wanted mine rare, its hard to get the crust while keeping it rare. Perfectly and evenly cooked, my partners Gammon was thick and not dry at all, with the most perfect cooked eggs. Incredible value, and a lovely atmosphere.

Have started coming back to this pub more over recent months, thus has mainly been at lunch times or early afternoon during the week and weekends but occasionally early evenings. Seeing a big improvement from my previous reviews. The pub seems cleaner, staff appear more welcoming and serve you with a smile. It would be good to see the restaurant revert to table service rather than order at the bar but overall very pleased with the place.

Went to the wake of my neighbour here in the restaurant area of this pub, so I can't comment about the service or atmosphere and, therefore, not rated. However, the cold buffet provided was very good and enjoyed by all guests. Altogether, the King's Head seemed an ideal place to hold a wake if you'd rather not hold it at home.

Arrived to have to find our own table after asking at the bar where it was. Was told there is a reserved sign on it and was directed by staff sitting at the bar where to go. To then get to the table to be told that there is no food other than burgers on the menu so we left!

We had a really enjoyable time out for my dad's birthday. We went at about 3 o'clock and the place was quiet. The food was delicious and good portions. The staff were really friendly and efficient. It's a really nice place for family's and friends.

Have sunday lunch every week , service is excellent. All visit other days of week when up visiting uncle.
