Lovely pub -very friendly guy behind the bar who served us during our lunchtime meal. Food was delicious and hot -also had lovely pudding -only slight disappointment was the two items I had seen on the menu online were no longer available but other than that would recommend Lovely setting in very quiet but beautiful village

A real gem. We've been eating everything from fine food to burgers in many countries all our lives and we have to say these burgers were as good as anything we can remember eating elsewhere. We're looking forward to trying the rest of the menu.

Excellent food - Sunday lunch for 7 was well catered for with vegetarian options as well as the typical roasts. Plenty of fresh vegetables cooked perfectly, variety of beers & wines, friendly attentive staff. Log fire in the old beamed Cotswold building, plenty of parking.

Firstly, like a previous reviewer, I can’t understand the couple of poor reviews, which in parts were very petty and one of which was quite vitriolic! Our own experiences are far removed from those reviewers’ experiences, and we use this charming old pub often. We recognise what is good value and what is not, and we often take friends with us, (which we wouldn’t do if we had any doubts). They are always happy to go there and have enjoyed their meals too. It is family run, and Donna is an excellent cook. She is always cheerful and welcoming despite everything that has been, and continues to be, thrown at the hospitality trade in these times we live in. On our recent visit, I had baked ham, egg and chips, which was simple but perfectly cooked, and very enjoyable. My husband had excellent sausages, with the tastiest gravy possible. The cost was only £8 each, as we were eating from the Pensioners’ menu (Thurs/Fri lunch times). We then shared a truly divine apple pie and custard from the general menu. Ami and her brother waited on us - they are both efficient and lovely young people, who are a pleasure to meet. We are lucky to have the King’s Arms in our local area.

We attended a family birthday BBQ & it was the perfect day. Visited this pub previously & it was just as amazing as it was before. The staff cannot do enough for their guests & they all work so hard - Amy is wonderful !! The food was beautiful, the drinks were flowing & the pub is spotlessly clean. Thank you to Henry & his super team - wish we lived closer !!! xx

simple faggot and chips ordered .only one beer available .Food arrived quite quickly but Chips half cooked and so pale .faggots cold hard and tasteless ,Veg virtually raw (sorry i know the difference bet aldonate and raw ) Beer was so flat small head disappeared after about 5 minutes so only drank half of the pint When staff collected the virtually uneaten plate of food I was expecting at least "is there a problem" but all i was met with was "do you want a sweet ?" I was offered a fresh plate of chips when i complained about the uncooked food but by then my wife had half eaten her meal so i declined I would just leave mine and not eat at all. had to wait over five minutes to pay because the internet wasn't working and was asked if I had cash instead !! As compensation they said they would not charge me for my drink !!! The whole operation is a shambles and obviously we wont go there again and will make sure everyone we know is warned appropriately. Can only advise don't use the pub for food or drink you will be sadly disappointed

Saw this pub and thought it looked really promising. Oldy worldly character in beautiful village. But disappointed. Car park tatty and unloved. Outside garden area nothing special. Main door into building blocked off. Entrance is through annex at back of building. Not good first impression. Nice bar area and comfortable seating mixed with plain wooden tables and chairs. Tables had numbers stuck on them which is a shame. Sunday roast was average. Good portion size but veg came on separate dish. They came about 4/5 minutes before meat. Veg were not hot. Tepid temperature. Meat on another extreme was very, very hot. Wonder how that was achieved? Service was good. No waiting. Pricing was good value. Atmosphere was spoilt by the fact the dining area was quite cold. No heating was on and real fire not lit despite weather being dull and chilly outside. A shame as the place could be a real find if main door opened up again and things like numbers on tables are done away with. Just personal opinion.

Wonderful to see The King's Arms's lights on and thriving again instead of the sad sight of it being dark and shut for so long, We had a really tasty beef Sunday lunch, with excellent Yorkshire puddings and proper gravy, followed by homemade crumble and custard. Lovely! Although busy the service was friendly and excellent. It is great to see the pub in the hands of such a capable team and we will look forward to enjoying it again soon.

Park4Night recommendation. Daytime barman was chatty and friendly. Food was high quality - ribeye steak cooked perfectly rare as requested, and exceptional chocolate brownie dessert. Evening serving ladies were pleasant and accommodating. Cosy enough bar area, with a roaring fire in one room. You can eat in the bar area but there is also another large room set out in a restaurant style, and I feel that The Chequers is aiming for more of a fine dining experience than a cosy country gastropub. I would prefer the latter, especially since the prices reflect the former.
