This place has really gone down hill! First time visiting for a few months. The carvery was a shamefull mess, food all over the counter top and nearly empty veg pots. What was there looked old and dry. The gravy was so runny it just disappeared when you poured over your food. Really stingy portions of meat, two slices of beef then the man carving it started putting on dried up scraps from the sides. Asked to pick cutlery and took a while to find a clean Knife!! What on earth happened to this place. New management is seriously needed! Won’t be going again.

Have been in here many times over the years, but not on a Bank Holiday... The standard carvery was double the price!! WHY?? other than it being a Bank Holiday ... absolute extortion!!! We left without eating we expected a slight increase but double the price disgraceful!! And the staff weren't particularly pleasant either ...

Booked in advance for a party of 3 for 6pm on a Sunday, I expected it to be busy but we had to queue for 25 minutes to get to the service counter. I have never been to a Toby before so was looking forward to a traditional roast dinner , unfortunately i think we picked the wrong day. The first issue was when we eventually got to the counter the Lamb had all gone , I settled for turkey and beef instead, the young man attempting to carve gave me some very ragged pieces which looked like they had been cut with a chainsaw. The second carver was more interested in dancing to the piped music , most of the vegetables were available but the take out staff kept taking large amount to put into the take away containers. The meal itself was questionable quality, roast potatoes were awful with a really tough outer skin , the rest of the vegetables very bland and lukewarm, turkey was good but the beef very tough and chewy. Overall the meal was poor , however I will give the place a second chance and go when it is a little quieter. I do think the place needs a re vamp , it looks tired inside and the counter needs to be cleaned during service, the carving staff were just throwing joint strings on the floor.

Had the carvery. Meat was very good, as was the Yorkshire pudding and the vegetables. The vegetable selection was a little lacking, but what I had was good, and could take as much as I wanted. Had a very satisfying plate of food. Desert and drinks also good. Service was friendly and helpful.

Arranged to visit for the carvery. Was a bit worried by previous reviews but need not have been. carvery was good, plenty of meat given. Large choice of vegetables (however no sprouts which are a favourite of mine). Carvery comes with a dessert which was a surprise and tasty choices. Service was very good and friendly and efficient.

Last had a meal here over ten years ago. It was awful then but had been recently refurbished so thought it would be different. Well the decor was very good, the waiting staff friendly and efficient. Although early evening (6pm) the serving area was already messy. We were told that Lamb was only served on a Sunday yet there was no mention of this on the menu. The "Chef" wore a filthy hat and apron to serve. Vegetables dry and unappealing In short a horrible experience - I will never ever go there again.

Called here with friends late afternoon on a Saturday and we wanted a drink and light food - sandwiches or similar. There were 6 of us but we were greeted in a friendly and welcoming manner and taken to a table straight away. Service was excellent and we chose a variety of food - the people who had the "Yorky wraps" - filled Yorkshire puddings - were delighted and others who had a variety from mac & cheese to pigs in blankets were all very happy. No complaints whatsoever and we will almost certainly return at some stage with family members and try the carvery which looked good.

Last week my husband and I enjoyed a lovely carvery meal here. So it was all the more disappointing when we went again yesterday that we had to walk out without ordering anything. We were shown to a table opposite a group with at least 4 out of control children. The screaming was so ear-splitting that we could not make ourselves heard, plus they were banging on the table and kicking chairs. We asked to be moved to a quieter area but were told only the bar area was available which was not table service. So we had no option but to leave. I feel it is totally unacceptable that you allow that kind of behaviour to go unchecked, presumably because you are afraid that if your staff say anything to them it will result in bad reviews. Well instead you will get bad reviews from the civilised customers who have to suffer. And before I get accused of being anti-child, there were plenty of children there who were sitting quietly and behaving, so it is possible. Needless to say we will not be visiting again.

The young gentleman we spoke to said if we would be happy to wait 20-30 minutes he could fit us in. it wasn't just the fact that they were able to find a table was impressive, it was the polite accommodating manner from the gentleman on duty and other members of the team, very impressed. Visited today with family told them how great the beef sandwich was had it a number of times in the past as live local, just wanted something light to eat. Bread was always thick unsliced Yorkshire pudding crispy and followed by a few lovely roast potatoes good value for money. Today ordered the bread was thin , beef mushrooms and onion, that's not a beef sandwich, Yorkshire pudding was flat and no roast potatoes. Spoke to a member of staff and the menu has changed you need to serve this with better bread as we could not even pick it up without using a knife and fork.

Service was poor and inattentive. No one on the door so walked past 4 dirty tables till found a clean one. When the waitress came out from the kitchen, she barked at us that it was not table service and to go and pay at the unattended bar??!! Where we were issued with our mugs which were chipped. The cona coffee pots were old, broken and grubby. The milk jug was old and chipped making the milk look off. The food was cooked ok (except the anaemic looking bacon), but it was all cold. However, if you’re a fan of Yorkshire puddings, they looked fantastic. The whole drink/food area was dirty and poorly attended to. Won’t be going back.

How hard can it be to keep a place clean, on our recent visit we where greeted by a host of items on the floor, knives, litter, unused serviettes, food, not a good start. A lamp by table 30 was totally engrossed in cobwebs. Just how hard can it be to give customers a better greeting. Plenty of grubby corners to sort out, even by the servers. Cracks in serving pots are visible also. The grumpy chef just about managed to say Yorkshire? During serving. His filthy apron gave no confidence either. The onion gravy was powdery, cauliflour was hard and the veg was very VERY basic. The table we booked over ran so had to wait for 25 minutes, but dont worry i got told to go to the bar and get a drink while i waited which cost me a further £10.The beef was very fatty and grissly but the pork was great. i will end this on a positive by saying the service was good and the refill option on soft drinks is great for the kids.

Eat as much as you want or can.I found the food to be pretty standard to a cafe or large hotel chain.Coffee, tea etc toast, everything just go up as many times as you want. The chef was constantly replenishing the food which on this occasion was bacon, sausage, fried egg, scrambled egg, fried potatoes, mushrooms, beans think that was it.I will 100% be returning. As for the building it either needs a major revamp very soon or knocking down.It isnt that appealing from the outside and all a bit scruffy.Glad i went though.

We've used this carvery for many years, but after our last visit, I'm not so sure we will be going back. Our last meal here wasn't nice.We go as we're vegetarian and like all the vegetables...usually a nice Sunday lunch but on our recent visit there were issues with most of them. Peas were bullet hard, the potatoes had a really nasty tang to them, carrots didn't really taste of anything, onions were so sweet we couldn't eat thoes either, beans were dry and the cauliflower gratin was pretty much cauliflower and no gratin. Even the Yorkshire Puddings were hard and over done.We were watching the meat being carved and the couple of slices of meat they were serving was wafer thin. In fact the guy in front of us picked his up to look through it and then disgustedly slapped it back on his plate. It's a real shame as we've had some great meals here before. The staff are great, service good but the food has really gone downhill. I'm hoping it was maybe an off day, but I'm not sure I want to go back to test out this theory.

Had friends visit who were heading back onto the motorway after something to eat. Opted for the Ketch, a place we have been many times before and it was terrible. It was late Sunday afternoon and you got the feeling it had been a very busy day, the choice of veg was extremely limited and the time it took to replace potatoes and veg was ridiculous. I ended up sitting down 10 minutes later than the rest of my party. The person putting the food out looked as though he would rather be anywhere else, doing anything else. It would appear the staff are poorly managed and clearly not motivated.

Burger was about as dry as a bucket of sand. 3 of the meals were served on plates with a big leaf on it. Style over substance im afraid. Efforts would be better served cooking food properly. We all had the carvery which was a choice of pork, gammon, turkey or beef, or any combination you fancy (I had beef and turkey!)It was all cooked to perfection, as was the lovely selection of mouth watering vegetables and no less than four different types of gravy. My only gripe, and it is a very small one, was the room was a little on the dark side, as with a lot of eateries these days. The price was very reasonable too. We had four carvery meals, desserts and a round of drinks with plenty of change from £50. All in all I highly recommend The Ketch

I have visited many Toby carvery restaurants and been very pleased with the food. However, the very low standard at this establishment beggars belief and is a discredit to the Toby brand. We decided not to stay for a meal and went elsewhere.

Very disappointed, won't be returning. , the meat was scant, more like a child portion and the beef was mostly fat and gristle - ugh. The only hope was to fill up on the veg, sadly, apart from the carrots and cauliflower cheese, these were all cold. The roast potatoes were hard and dry and stuffing consisted of few dry, hard crumbs in the bottom of the bowl. It all looked as if it had been sitting out far too long, even the gravy was cold, so cold, congealed gravy on cold food and a cold plate is certainly not an experience I wish to repeat any time soon.I have been here on several occasions prior to the refit and, although it's certainly not fine dining, I have always found it to be fairly good value and ideal for a quick meal. The refit may be nice, but they really need to up their game on the food and service if they want repeat business, they've certainly lost mine.If you can bear to drive a bit further, try the Plough & Harrow at Drakes Broughton for the carvery where the meat is of far better quality and certainly a lot more of it.

We went in today for a breakfast. Very disappointing. The waitress was struggling to find clean cups for the unlimited tea/coffee. I strongly advise the management take a long hard look at the buffet breakfast from a customers view!! The plates were old and dirty. Everything was overcooked, sausages were almost black,no marmalade and the toast is set to just warm so not even toast! Waitress nice and friendly but I'm struggling to say anything positive about the place to be honest. Same price at the manor farm down the road and it's totally different! We won't be returning.

We visited The Ketch tonight for my fathers 60th birthday, at his insistence. We arrived at 5pm and were seated promptly and the drinks order taken by Adam. more family members arrived a little later, greeted again by Adam and another round of drinks were order. My mother even commented how nice it was to have a server with a sense of humour. We all chose the carvery, which was beautiful. Adam was very attentive all evening, leaving us alone when needed and anticipating when he was needed. We had a corner of the restaurant to ourselves and as the evening went on and you could see it filling up, we were not pushed to give up our tables even though it was obvious we had finished!!! Well done to the Ketch for a great atmosphere and thanks to Adam for his service all evening.

My girlfriend and I visit The Ketch every couple of months, and have always enjoyed the meals. It's ideal if you want an affordable roast meal without the hassle of cooking it yourself.Could benefit from a few extra members of staff, however the the current staff are polite and friendly.

After reading so many bad reviews about this place we were in two minds wether to go, as our friend had strongly recommended it we decided to go. We are so glad that we did as we have now been back four times since we first went a few weeks ago! The food is fantastic and the service even better. Our waitress really went out of her way to ensure me and my family had a great evening on our first visit and we have been lucky enough to have now been served by her three times. Also the young manager is delightful, very happy to chat and genuinely cared about how our evening was. She told us she has only been there five months. Clearly this manager has made changes and I'm sure that if you go you will not be disappointed.

We were passing on a Sunday afternoon and a sign - Carvery £5.99. We had not cooked Sunday Lunch so decided to give it a go.When we went in they said 20 mins wait, even though there were lots of empty tables, or we could eat in the bar area.We went to the bar and ordered 2 carvers, 1 beer and a soft drink. The bill was £24. Apparently the carvery is £9.49 on a Sunday. There were no signs displaying the Sunday price, just very small print on the outside sign saying Monday to Saturday. That sign was turned away from the entrance so no one could see it. The menus on the table did not include the carvery prices. At that price we would have gone to a decent independant pub not a Toby Inn.Paying the money was not the issue, being manipulated and misled was. I asked the manager why no signs with prices and he said that the signage was mandated by Head Office.Toby Inns have lost a customer for ever.

We have just got back from this place. The food was so bad I felt I had to come on here straight away. The meat was overcooked and very fatty, I couldn't chew it at all (beef). There was a very poor selection of veg - peas, carrots and cauliflower cheese and the worst of the lot brocoli. Brocoli is my favourite but this was something else. For a start there were loads of yellow bits on it which means that it was stale before they even tried to cook it and it was so hard I couldn't cut it. The yorkshire pudding had obviously been sitting around a while as that was rock hard. I got about a third of the way through the meal and had to send it back as it was making me feel sick. The staff were very nice and did not charge us. At normal times this is unacceptable but on a Sunday when they up the price not good at all. Have been going here for years and years, never again.

Having read previous reviews we were not sure whether to visit or not. We decided ti risk it. The moment we walked in the door we knew the risk had been worth it. Such a friendly smile met us and that high level of service was maintained throughout our visit. The food was excellent and very good value for money. Drinks were expensive as always but you can have a glass of water instead if you wish. Overall our impression was favourable and we will revisit when we are next in the area .

Took 5 family members for a return breakfast visit. We arrived after 9:30am & paid for full breakfasts with unlimited tea/coffee. The team were on top of the breakfast buffet as hot food dishes items were replenished quickly. Went back for a second coffee & a tea for family member, but this time they had run out of milk & tea bags. Took a while to get the attention of the lady who served us as I understand she was multi-tasking, virtually on her own! Milk and tea were replenished and she provided good friendly and efficient service from when we arrived. This carvery has a 2 slice toaster, more suited for a home, which is slow and can cause a queue to form. Urgently needs a conveyor toaster like some other Toby Carveries and restaurant brands. Overall food was good although they longer feature quality sausages on the menu (mushrooms went some time ago & also after that black pudding)-I think they used to be Lincolnshire sausages , but now just “Pork Sausages” perhaps bacon not quite so good either, but “passable” This however is a brand issue rather than aimed at a specific restaurant.

The main plus point is the improved decor after the fire last year. The staff are friendly and helpful but the carvery is fairly poor especially compared to the Toby at Quinton, Birmingham. Veggie choice was limited and the cabbage was so dried up it was inedible. Meat portions were ok and the yorkshire pud was nice. There were no boiled potatoes, just mash or roasties. the roasties were nice but some parsnips would have been good too. We had vouchers which enabled us to have virtually free soup for a starter. It wasn't the best Carrot and Coriander I've had but then I make a lot of soup myself so you do get spoilt! What astounded me the most was the dried up slice of sliced white bread served with the soup!!!! Come on Toby carvery you can get better than that in a transport cafe!

Was intending to take 4 family members to the Toby Carvery (The Marlbrook in Bromsgrove) for breakfast, however as I has to collect a family member from Worcester went to the Ketch instead, a big mistake!!We arrived at 10:15am & paid for full breakfasts with unlimited Tea/coffee. The others went up to get their breakfast items & I went for coffee first, but had to wait a little while as the jug of filtered coffee had run out. When I got to the breakfast dishes they had run out of potato rosti, bacon & sausages & only 2 of my party were able to get full breakfasts. The other just 2 fried eggs & 1 potato rosti .One of the staff members said it would be at least 20 mins before they started cooking fresh items & suggested we all asked for our money back. The problem was one member of my party had already had a full plate, the other a small breakfast & the third wanted to eat and was so hungry he just ate 2 fried eggs & 1 potato rosti!. Three of us therefore went hungry .My daughter had filtered coffee & said it tasted awful ;I tried mine –It was stewed & very weak, not up to the usual standard .We went to the till & got our money back for 3 Breakfasts .The only good thing about this experience was the excellent customer service skill /friendliness of 1staff member who explained that they had to throw food away the day before as the expected influx of people from the nearby car boot sale had not materialised .I am surprised however that for Bank Holiday Monday not enough food was on hand ?! I also noticed that there was a car boot sale on@ the nearby Ketch .We had to wait for 2 family members to finish their breakfasts, but my daughter only had a small breakfast with 1 sausage & could not get any more as there was non available. This is really poor service when Breakfast is advertised as being available till11:00am .After we left we had to find a place that still served breakfast from10:40 am, but the occasion was ruined as 2 were already partly fed.Avoid!

It is what it is now...a Toby carvery. The clue is in the title.£5.99 for the standard plate if you want more meat you pay an extra £1.50 and you get plenty. It was absolutely fine for the money in my opinion, veg was plentiful, plenty of choice.Loads of kids dining when we were there so on the noisy side, but good for a big family meal out together.Would I go again...yes for a big party of us but no if it was just me and my husband.

I totally agree with the other comments, please, please, please go to the March Hare (about 10 minutes away) or anywhere else but here! The amount of meat you get is appalling, less than a usual childs portion, the beef was full of fat, the yorkshire puddings were rock hard and swimming in oil in the centre. The peas were yellow!!! The veg is very limited. When I asked for another slice of meat I was told "sorry, that`s standard", had less than my son usually gets for a child`s portion. The waitress I must say was lovely and the puddings were excellent, but the poor lady next to us who didn`t like cheese, asked for the salmon. She was told this wasn`t available, and the only 2!!!!! other items on the menu contained cheese, so she was left with no option but the carvery. I cannot believe the owners/managers of this establishment have not even bothered to reply to the comments on this site, obviously, they think the "Toby Carvery" name is sufficient, believe me, it stinks!!!!

I visited Toby Carvery this lunchtime. On arrival we waited to be seated, our drinks order was taken and after 5 minutes we were still waiting for 2 cokes even though there were only about 10 other people in the pub. We went over to the carvery, all of the vegetable looked very dry and as though they had been sat around for a good couple of hours. The meat looked fine however the gammon looked as though someone had emptied a jar of mustard on the top - not quite the mustard glaze they have it advertised as. The chef who was serving was not even at the carvery when we were waiting, he probably took a good 2/3 minutes to actually appear even though there was a woman in front who had been waiting long before we had started queueing. The chef offered the lady a yorkshire pudding to which she replied 'they look more like pancakes' as they clearly hadn't risen whilst in the oven, the chef sarcastically replied 'well yorkshire puddings are pancakes' he also chipped in that he'd 'just got off a flight on 24 hours ago' i don't know what difference that makes to the quality of the food and then to top it all off he stated openly that 'if you employ immigrants to make yorkshire puddings then thats what you get' my friend and very shocked at the bold and offensive statement that the chef had made right infront of one of his ethnic kitchen colleagues. The chef disappeared for a few minutes and returned with a tray of well risen and good looking yorkshire puddings. We served up our meal and sat down, my friend and i both said how we thought that this pub had gone downhill even since the last time we came and that meal was bad enough. To summarize our experience the meat was delicious but thats about the only good thing this place has going for it, the stuffing was dry, as were the vegetables, the roast potatoes were peeled new potatoes swimming in oil and the bread sauce was lumpy and thick - i think a 4 year old could have made it to a better consistency. We each left over half of our meals as we didn't enjoy the experience or the food. We complained to a staff member at the end of our visit about the manner and bad attitude of the chef who had served us, he told us he would report our complaint to the manager. Overall unless The Ketch have a major overhaul in their values, quality of food and customer care then i believe this branch of Toby Carvery will continue to lose customers and will be closing sooner rather than later!

I used to be a regular customer of the toby carvery in Worcester. But the last two visits were so bad I doubt I will ever go back. The amount of meat you are given is pathetic - three small slices of turkey cut to thinly it was see through! The vegetables were hard and dried out. Service is poor - not enough staff who seem to disappear for ages. Will go to the harvester instead or The Crown carvery.

Horrendous - put two orders in for next day delivery £20 in delivery fees. One order wasn’t processed at all the other wasn’t delivered! Huge waste of time and money 3-5 days for a refund even though they didn’t supply a single thing promised. The first one it took 5 attempts to contact customer service to get a response and the second quicker to get through but still highly inconvenient sitting on online chat.
