It's a fantastic pub just away from the main centre. If you come to Nottingham and you don't come in here, you have missed a great pub.

Got served by Attila the Hun who then turned in to Dick Turpin and the beer was like slops.

Went twice while in Nottingham. Brilliant range of Cask and Craft, the Castle Rock DDH IPA being a highlight. Also had a 3rd of Omnipollo DIPA. Saw pepole eating the Paaji street curries and had to come back. Butter Chicken Vindaloo and Veg/Paneer vindaloo were both fabulous and good value coming with rice and paratha. Magic beer, Magic food. Will be back.

Best curry i have had for quite sometime. Great beer and a smile at the bar. What more could one want.

Over expensive. Bloke behind the bar miserable as sin. Beer flatter than his demeanor so overall a waste of £30 for four drinks

Visité el Kean’s Head para tomar una pinta cuando estuve en una visita de trabajo a Nottingham recientemente y me impresionó la gama de cervezas de este pub Castle Rock Brewery. Y la comida india en el menú sonaba maravillosa. Volví a probar la comida cuando estaba en una noche con mi esposa y fue absolutamente fantástico. El entrante, la comida principal y el pan estaban entre la mejor cocina india que he probado. Definitivamente volveré.

Han estado viniendo a la cabeza del Kean desde hace varios años. La variedad de cervezas de calidad y la excelente comida de Paaji's lo habían convertido en una necesidad en varios mini pubs civilizados con diferentes grupos de amigos. Y siempre he recomendado este pub a amigos, colegas y asociados. Esta noche, sin embargo, mi hermano, su amigo y yo, fuimos recibidos inmediatamente con grosería por una camarera que no había visto antes, por atreverse a llegar a tomar una copa a las 9. 45 y nos dijeron abruptamente que estaban llamando a las últimas órdenes y nos hicieron sentir muy inoportunos. At 10 . 08 la camarera grosera entonces indicó que deberíamos beber. La mesa de al lado, dos mujeres maduras, dijeron que no habían estado en la ciudad por un tiempo, pero estaban confundidos por las horas de cierre y estaban claramente confundidos y ofendidos por la grosería y brusquedad del personal. Me gusta mucho este pub y es raro que me sienta motivado para dejar una crítica por cualquier cosa, pero me preocupa que un par de personas podrían arruinar potencialmente un gran pub.

AN amazing selection of beers to cater for all - real ales, kegs beers and lagers. Good choice of European beers too. The pub is small but has a lovely welcoming feel.

He estado mucho solo por bebidas y un par de veces por comida. Las opciones de artesanía en barril son increíbles. Gran selección de latas y opciones sin / bajo alcohol también. Gran ambiente. La comida es proporcionada por Paaji's Indian Street Food. Una vez comí una hamburguesa y estaba un poco decepcionado, pero la última vez que fuimos tuve un curry y fue increíble! Authentic curries at sensible prices, and a craft beer heaven for my bearded friends. Sensibly priced large range of soft drinks too. Will be going again.

Barman moody and shouldn’t be in a customer facing job. Very poor and clearly gone downhill since last visit. Won’t be going again or recommending, there are friendlier establishments to spend you hard earned money.

Wow, what a lovely experience. Great selection of real ales, cask, and world whiskys. The food is exceptional! The location is tucked away in the Lace Market, which adds to the experience.

He estado un número de veces, y como siempre, una buena selección de cerveza, comida OK, pero ir por las cervezas, parece diferente a nuestras tres visitas anteriores, se fue después de una copa, el ambiente no estaba allí ese jueves temprano por la noche, lo intentará de nuevo más tarde.

Castle Rock Ales what's not to like. Had a pint called The OG (Best Bitter.) Went down very nicely.

'Kitchen closes at 10', except this isn't true and it actually closes at 9, or whenever they decide. Good selection of beers, but nonetheless a bit of a shambles.

If you are into real ales then be daring and try something different. If not ask for a taster ! Still a very good pub for a chill out.

This is the best pub in Nottingham. Nothing else comes close. A craft beer nerd? Better selection than Junkyard. Cask ale selection and a good amount of world beers for the person who only drinks Belgian trappist fare. Not only that but they have a vast aray of gin, whisky/whiskey and wine. The curries served are excellent, very fresh and delicious. Atmosphere is always nice and relaxed, so great to go for a bit of a chat or even on your own.

Fantastic pub. Don't be fooled by the use of the word 'butter' in the butter vindaloo! It is very creamy and buttery but still has the fire 😅

We love this place, it is in a great location with a welcoming atmosphere. An epic selection of beers and divine Indian street food from from Paaji’s. On top of that is the great & friendly service. We had Kernel Biere Saison with Damson for beer, Duck Madras and Marsala Fish & Chips. Superb every time.

The staff were very nice all be it the place seems to run in student labour. We had 4 dishes , I would say expensive for what it is and not very tasty. I would say very very over priced .

I only popped in for a quick half but I wished I could have stayed longer. I'm definitely going back again. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and a fab beer selection. Next time I'm trying the curry.

I think of all the places I've been going in Nottingham for about 15+ years, this place has probably changed the least. Always something interesting on tap, bottle selection is decent, and the relatively recent addition of the curry kitchen means I'm here more frequently than ever. Great value, tastes spot on and has vegan options. Sometimes it's hard to find a table in the late afternoon/early evening but in a city full of empty units its nice to see somewhere with some atmosphere.

Saturday lunchtime visit, we popped in just after the pub opened and decided to have a drink and stay for our dinner. We looked at the menu and were torn on what to pick there where so many nice things listed. In the end, hubby opted for the railway lamb curry, and I had the wage beef burger. The food was delicious but we have eaten here before, looking forward to when we can go back again.

A welcome place to drop the weight off the feet. Lovely staff, and a nice clean pulled pint. Situated at the rear of the lace market, its handy for St Mary's Church.

Good place for real ale, but 1 dark ale isn't enough for a pub that has so many beers. A nice, friendly place to chat though and one we always enjoy visiting.

I don't drink anymore but still love a good pub - the Keans Head is lively and laid back with draft no/low alcohol beer plus bottles/cans as well. Great to still get quality beer without the units 👍

Didn't try the food, but will be back to try that with a group of friends. Excellent range of beers and drinks. Often some rarer or unusual ones. Nice atmosphere and nicely busy. Recommended.

Strong contender for the best pub in Nottingham, and certainly the best pub in the city centre! Top traditional boozer with heaps of beer and cider, plus a comprehensive wine list and spirit selection to boot. Service is just on the right side of friendly, which is fine because there's always a great atmosphere generated anyway by a real mixed crowd which usually fills the place. The five star rating, however, is signed and sealed by Paaji's - the Indian kitchen tucked away behind the bar. Knockout curry and Indian starters (to eat in, or wait for with a beer) make this place a regular stop on our pub crawls!

Another Castle Rock pub, we were allowed to taste the keg beers but the prices are steep. We get ripped in Norwich but this pub is pricey, we had two 2/3s of Verdant it was over a tenner. The staff are really friendly compared to the Fox & Grapes, we were told not to have pints because it would be £7.80 a pint 🍻

Always worth a visit when in Nottingham, great craft beer selection and food though special cask beers are on the expensive side as they are also imported. Can get crowded.

A great pub tucked away a few minutes walk from the city centre. Excellent beers and great range to try at good prices. Beers from all around the world on offer. Small and cozy but well worth the time to walk and enjoy the beers on offer. Good place to meet up with people. Has toilets. Very friendly staff. Part of the local castle rock brewery chain in Nottingham and has a loyalty app.

Very good pub about 10 minutes walk from Nottingham Railway Station. Six cask ales - and three ciders - on handpump when I visited including a milk stout. The pub is located in Nottingham's historic Lace Market opposite the Grade I-listed St Mary's Church. The pub itself, which is Grade II-listed was built in 1907 as offices and a warehouse. It is named after the Shakespearean actor Edmund Kean who in 1861 appeared as Hamlet in a nearby theatre. Busy but not impossibly so before the Spurs game at the City Ground.

We go here as it advertises gluten free beer. But only ever got one on when we arrive.Better than none but please have more 👍. Food looks good never eaten there though.

A pretty unique place on a Sunday night. A chap in fluorescent fishnet, two lady “friends” having a Barney in the garden. Very friendly though.

Lovely lunch, and some fantastic beers too. Incredible range of drinks if all different styles. Can’t recommend this place highly enough!

Family favourite for a pub lunch. Great staff. Great food. Great beer. Sorted! Burgers and all the loaded fries are very good.
