The jules verne in Kirklees

I don't rate this pub It lacks atmosphere and isn't very friendly.

Great new years eve visit bar staff good and friendly atmosphere enjoyed the visit would recommend 👌

Can't say anything about the food because I didn't last long enough in this pub to even get a drink let alone a bite to eat. Went in and by the time I reached the bar, the bar staff were already staring at me like I was an alien from outer space. I was in the mood for a pint but the downright hostile nature of the staff and patrons put me off immediately. Just don't bother if you aren't already a regular because it's clearly a thing where you're either in it or you're not, and if you're reading this, you're not. Terrible venue that possesses none of the aspects that make a pub enjoyable

Called in for the first time today. Friendly welcome. Smelt and felt clean. Only had a pint and moved on. Average price for a city center pint. Will call back again.

Nice pub, good staff, but not my kind of music.

Been here many times for a drink with my friends and the service has always been friendly and polite. The only downfall is the size of the toilets in comparison to the venue, more recently out of the 2 toilets only 1 was in service.

It is nice here on a Sunday with a good seating area on the rooftop. There are now new owners who are good and very prompt.

Called in for my birthday with some friends to play a few games of pool. They even asked me what music I wanted on! And the place was rockin. Good range of drinks and friendly staff. And Sky Sports on all the TV's too.

This is a loud and slightly unwelcoming pub in central Huddersfield. It may appeal to some, a loud karaoke session was in full belt early in the afternoon and the drinks range is average, 1 red wine for example (unless you include port). It was busy so maybe this sortof place just dosnt appeal to me or if you're after a quiet read of the paper. The toilets were very clean though...

Arrived for a birthday night out & ended up joint a stag do. The staff couldn’t be more accommodating for all the groups in. Even joined in a ‘Me Motivator,’ exercise class - for the stag do; and included my group. Cheap, Cheerful, different sports on each tv. The bar man Danny was too funny and went above and beyond with Tasha who joined in and another lady working. I know Men are a mess in toilets but they were extremely clean and tidy - as if they were a showroom. The atmosphere with whom I assume were locals were class. I’ll certainly return. Sorry if we were too loud.

Unbelievable place to come and have a laugh with friends and family. The drinks and atmosphere is second to none. Friendly staff members like Kim and Danny make the place very welcoming. Highly recommended place to visit. Especially whilst having awesome drinks in the 🌞

This is the best pub in Huddersfield. Group of 10 girls came to watch the football. Service was brilliant. Staff friendly and gave us the best night out we have had in a long time. Definitely will recommend to family and friends!!!!!

Decent place. Google maps lists it as a cocktail bar. Rightly so as there was no real ales available. We had gins. Very clean. Bar person was not very friendly. He was more interested with his phone than serving.

Suitable for the deaf as you can’t hear yourself think in this place . The people all shout because the music is so loud. This may appeal to some but not us.

Gr8 staff clean pub nice pint. Shame there are not much entertainment on over weekends. Apart from that gr8 pub. Warm and welcoming.

The place itself isn't bad at all but on two seperate occasions I have been short changed whilst visiting in evening. I think the staff take advantage when they believe customers are drunk and I wonder how many times they've got away with it.

Probably one of the busiest pubs in town on a Sunday. Good atmosphere and had a DJ.

Love the Jules Verne theme of this bar, a place In its previous incarnation I would avoid has now become a place i enjoy popping into for a few.

Very friendly service and TV sport plus music a very good pint enjoyed.

Get ya self down to Jules Verne the best home cooked Jamaican food in Huddersfield curried goat to die for the jerk chicken authentic Jamaican cuisine I recommend this place to anyone who loves spice in there life .

Really well appointed pub. Reasonable prices. I don't understand why it was so quiet.

Place has been newly refurbished. Quite a cozy atmosphere. They serve drinks and food, though I haven't tried the food personally a friend has rated it well. I normally visit with a bunch of mates and have a good time, they tend to host a board game evening once every month I believe . Staff are really friendly. Overall, I would recommend visiting this place.

I ordered half a pint of diet Pepsi and they served me a whole pint. The diet Pepsi tasted bland and flavourless.

Called in on a Friday evening after not been in since The Wellington days. Only 4 people in. Requested a large white wine and soda. Received said glass of wine. £5.00.!!! I had previously been in a pub nearby and the same drink cost me £2.20. Wont be going again. Ill give it 6 months!!!

Met with my husband's work colleagues for per "Chrisymas" meal drinks...it has been nicely refurbished and pleasant for the hour we spent there. It is apparently a bit on the pricey side

What a place to walk into on a main street of Huddersfield....We called in with some friends and had a Celebration drink today... the pub has had a re-vamp and its a lot better now than what it has used to be... cant fault the staff they was lovely... comfy couches to make you feel at home with the old book shelf's so you can have a read whilst having a quiet drink. I will be back for a second visit :)

Came for food and drink - the kitchen closes at 7pm. Pub was empty, music blaring and when we asked if it could be turned down a little the barman ignored us. When we asked again he told us it was a pub - really - I hadn't noticed - and pubs had music so why didn't we find somewhere else? We did and won't be back to this one!

The bar was very busy, no suprise because it is a really nice bar, playing good music with a great atmosphere. Good choice of beers and a capable staff. Well worth a visit

Came here on Good Friday..for a meal only to be told that they weren't serving food. This could have been displayed to avoid disappointment but not a problem we went to a Turkish restaurant instead and received impeccable service. Arrived again for a Reggae Dance hall night..but more Dancehall than Reggae and i was disappointed but it was okish.. I had a Rum punch cocktail 2 for £8 that was lovely!! I then had a Brandy all though £4.50 for a Brandy without chaser seemed rather steep..it wasn't even on the till so she made the price up off the top off her head after speaking with her side kick who responds to oi' from some young lads at the end of the bar?? I may try one more time to enter this place without an event and hopefully eat what they boast to offer Wish me luck!!..

Called in for drinks over the weekend and really enjoyed the comfortable modern surroundings. Went in today for lunch with my mum. I had the burger and she had the jerk ribs. We both thought it was good quality and value for money. Would recommend. 😀 The staff are friendly and chatty, made us feel very welcome.

Happened in this pub in the lunch break of the music festival in the town hall. Needed a quick meal and drink. Good range of beer and an interesting menu. The girl serving was very pleasant and helpful. I had the jerk chicken with hand cut chips. It was really nice. I'd never had Caribbean food before. A warning though the sauce was very hot but luckily it was served in it's own container. The chicken was beautifully Smokey.

Having met up with Friends on a Midweek Afternoon,we visited a couple of Town Centre Pubs ending in the recently reopened Jules Verne formally the Wellington.After ordering Drinks we decided to look at the Food Menu and liked the look and ordered.The food was very good My Fish in Batter was one of the best I have had.The Service was good with very friendly Staff.
