Having held a fundraising “Dinner Event” here recently, in aid of Cancer Research UK, we, at Relay for Life Liskeard, were supported and hosted diligently, by Zoe, Gary and their staff, who were ready to pull out all the stops for us. The meal was superb. The attention and attitude of the staff, exemplary and as a result, all attending, had a great night, and much needed funds were raised, for continued research into Cancer treatments. Not only are these hosts, excellent at what they do all year round, but they have an acute awareness of “community” and a genuine desire to support a good cause. Many sincere thanks from all of us who attended the event. We wish you ongoing success in your field.

Booked online via the link on this website which apparently is a scam, so best avoid that for a start. Food mediocre, didn't feel homemade and wasn't very good. Drinks expensive. Shame as quirky building.

We went on all hallows night. The pub was buzzing and had a loverly mean and a few drinks. The hosts were very welcoming and the nice mix of locals and visitors added to the positive experience. The pub itself is beautiful and charming. Unfortunately we did not see or feel the real ghosts this time so we will just have to visit again. The rooms were nice clean and spacious. Can’t fault it! You need to remember the building is centuries old so dont expect a modern hotel. Enjoy the history, the breakfast and company. Loved it

A beautiful worldly old pub, stunningly tucked away in the small ancient lanes of Looe, we stumbled upon here on our holiday and were pleasantly surprised by the mostly home cooked food, lovely sized portions, friendly staff and a very quirky place with a whole load of history. A fantastic atmosphere and step back in time.

We stayed really local to this pub so spent a few afternoons and evenings drinking here. Lovely atmosphere, quiz and local cornish music. It's a busy place but you can book so I'd suggest doing that if you're eating or a big party. Perfect mix of old pub and quirky little touches like the lighting which is especially nice. Pizza and quiz night was great, pizzas delicious. Didn't have any other food but plenty of people were in eating and everything that went out looked delicious. Final shoutout to the landlady who helped get a quiet table arranged for our daughter who really struggles with busy places. She reserved us the perfect table and when we went in double checked everything was how we needed it to be. She really is fantastic and you could tell her personality lit up the place. All bar staff fab and a great selection of games if that's your thing.

We popped into the Jolly Sailor for a quick drink on Wednesday, we were greeted by a friendly barman. We popped in again on Thursday to see the Sea Shantymen. We arrived around 545 and most of the tables were reserved, so my advice, call and book or get there early. We had a couple of IPAs to start drink wise and then a bottle sav blanc with a lovely pizza. Marisa likes the ham and pineapple which for some pizza aficionado’s is criminal, but it was lovely. The bar staff were friendly and made us of our pooches, Marley and Obi. Lovely friendly pub, which is also a B&B, located on the west side of Looe. Shantymen were brilliant, and start at 830pm

As a longstanding visitor to Looe which I am very familar with I was disappointed to find on my last visit some rather unsavory language/conversation from a local customer at the bar whilst ordering drinks. The pub was quite so it was difficult to not hear the effing every other word about his marital issues. As a female I found this quite disrespectful. It was quite an uncomfortable situation and it would certainly make me think twice about drinking at this pub in the future which is a shame as I have been visiting it for almost 20 years.

Came a couple of times for a drink and dinner. The lasagne abd garlic bread was the best I think I’ve ever had in a pub. My son had the fish pie and revel about it. All meals were good these just stood out for us . Staff very friendly, it does get very busy so you may need to book to get in

We we’re staying at local caravan park we there for a meal. I had chicken bacon pasta, it was a child’s portion size and was served warm not hot, my partner had scampi, said it came with chunky chips it came with warm fries and warm peas. Are plates were cleared but we weren’t asked if we wanted anything else. We came out very hungry and went across to the spar shop and bought microwave meals.

Visited for an evening meal. Very busy. Waited a little for a vacant table. The staff were all so friendly, in particular the lad with curly dark hair. Ordered food & drinks. The food was OK. Initially thought it was nice to have real chips, but I think they'd been kept warm, which made them very dry and lots of them inedible, unfortunately. Would return again if in the area and try something else to eat. The pies looked fab. Interesting pub. Nice to read about its history.

We booked Sunday lunch at The Jolly Sailor based on local recommendations and the fact that it was advertised as a dog friendly pub. What a pleasant experience - traditional British pub atmosphere, nice ales, good home cooked food (plenty of it and reasonably priced) all rounded off by staff who treated us more like family than customers. Definitely worth a visit for a relaxing pint and excellent Sunday roast.

The cajun chicken was lovely especially with the spicy dip it came with, the owners are lovely and all the staff are very kind and helpful dog friendly and didn't mind our little pooch visiting even though she can be a bit grumpy, wish this was our local will definitely be back next time we're down here.

Unfortunately this is not like me but I'm afraid I have to give this place a very low rating, they had no draught ales at all just said arriving soon, the place absolutely stinks of dogs and the gents toilets are absolutely disgusting the smell was overpowering, the barman must be the most miserable person in the world and is quite rude, this is the second time I've been in the pub but I'm afraid it will be my last, not a pleasant experience, it's a shame as the place has so much potential

This could be a five star experience if customers weren’t rushed out. We know we would be asked to leave at 90 minutes going in, but this should be a two hour or two hour and 15 minutes experience. We enjoyed the food, tea, and cocktails, but I will seek a different location for tea next time.
