Four of us visited for a sunday lunch. Was a very nice and quiet place. Friendly staff on arrival. Great selection of drinks too. Sunday lunch menu was limited but by no means a let down. This in fact made the food better as it was clearly all fresh. Soup starters were nice and clearly home made. Then the main event. I had the jolly roast which was amazing. Lots of meat and cooked to perfection! Everyone enjoyed their meals. My wife had a vegetarian option which she enjoyed and the pie was very nice by all accounts. Puddings were great too. The cheesecake is highly recommended! Overall a great meal in a lovely place we will be returning! Also they were very accommodating with children which is a big bonus!!!

Me and my husband went to Jolly Farmers 3 times in the last 2 weeks. We had a Sunday dinner - lamb shank with veg, pie night - chicken pie with lots of chips, peas and gravy and the latest one: my husband had rib eye steak with veg and I had a cod with salad. All the meals were phenomenal the taste was amazing and everything is home cooked. The owner is very friendly and went out of his way to make sure that our meal is cooked to full satisfactory. My husband is picky eater and he always find something but 3 times in Jolly Farmers and nothing - thats a success!

I called here for lunch during a day out walking. The pub looks well presented from the outside but you never know with these out of the way places. Well inside the pub is clean and cosy with a horsey theme to the decorations. The welcome from the bar staff was warm and helpful with a general description of food available as the menus were handed over. There looks to be some interesting stuff on the menu but I just wanted something simple and that was not a problem. Did I say the pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord I had was the best I've ever tasted? What a find. I'll definitely return.

Really nice Mother's Day Lunch, nice choices on the menu including guinea fowl which was really nice and plenty of it, beef was cooked medium rare and very tender, other choices were turkey and steak and kidney pie. The pub has a lovely real pub feel to it and the staff were very attentive despite being busy. This is the second time we have been here for Mothers day and will certainly visit again for drinks or a meal.

I've only just discovered this delightful pub. I popped in for Sunday lunch and had the roast beef, which was cooked to perfection - medium-rare and so tender. It's wonderful to find a place where the beef isn't over-cooked or tough as old boots. The whole meal was excellent. The staff were friendly, the service was great and the pub had a lovely, homely ambience. I look forward to going back again - often!

Booked Sunday dinner for Mothers Day three of us at 3 pm. Although the kitchen had obviously been very busy due to it being Mother’s day, all the food was great. My mother doesn’t usually have a big appetite for meat, her plate came loaded as if for a rugby forward, and it all went. I had beef and pork both very good including stuffing and yorkie . Pudding we all chose meringue with cream strawberries raspberries I was sad when it was all gone. Good pint of Pedigree as well.

Four of us booked Christmas dinner Friday night ten days before Christmas. A lot of effort had gone into setting the table and this was a good guide to the evening ahead, as the staff could not have been more helpful. Three of us had the turkey and one game pie. All the food was well cooked I would say ten out of ten for the turkey and the pie eater said the pie was even better so I have run out of score levels. Table booked for seven to eat at eight which we did, I expected to be gone by ten as we had all been at work and start early but we got carried away with the atmosphere and were still there gone eleven thirty. I would recommend the Jolly Farmers to any one for a good pint of Pedigree relaxed atmosphere country pub style.

We always enjoy the food, drinks & atmosphere at The Jolly Farmers. Paul's decorated the pub in a traditional British countryside manner, which is great! Too many pubs look old on the outside, but have lost their character and been ruined by over modernisation inside.Back to the food. Whether you're in there for Pie Night, Steak Night, Fish Night or Sunday dinner, you're sure to enjoy your meals. They're just like your Mum cooked, but even better!P.S Try the Bread & Butter Pudding. It's delicious. He also serves, a Bailey's one if you like it that way, but we think his standard one trounces it!

Went for Sunday lunch here as we had moved to a new area.. we hadn't booked but were more than happy to wait or to come back later. They set us up a table for four (a bit of a make shift table in the corner near a fire door), which was fine but as said before, we could have come back later.Only two of us had arrived, but they kept asking us to order. Calm down. The food was okay, but a bit cold and not a lot of it. Then, the manager or owner (or whoever) came over and very rudely said he couldn't condone us sitting there and it wasn't normal practice.. it's not like I forced them to give us a table. Will not be going back purely because of his bad customer service! The waitresses there were pleasant enough, but a bit sloppy and not very experienced. They were still more polite than the manager/owner. A shame as we only live up the road. Go somewhere else or cook your own, it'll be a better experience.

We went here has a group of 14, it was booked by my auntie for a celebration. We had our orders taken at 1.45 then sat and had our drinks. The pub is not set up very well to be somewhere to have a meal, stupid round tables of different heights, various chairs and stools, 3 of us ended up eating at a knee high table, I had to put my meal on my knee and my daughter sat on the floor. Some of us had starters, soup or prawn cocktail. These arrived eventually (2.35), my prawns were of the cheap variety and didn't taste very nice, apparently the French onion soup was ok. By 3.30 our meals still hadn't arrived and we were getting uncomfortable and hungry. My daughter is vegetarian along with 3 others in the group, the only option was scampi and chips. We asked if she could have a Sunday lunch without the meat and they said yes, what arrived was a disgrace, a pile of stuffing with some parsnips and a Yorkshire pudding. We had ours which consisted of 2 slices of meat a yorkie 2 roast potatoes and parsnips, I had to give my daughter my potatoes as she had barely anything on her plate. We were given a small bowl with mixed veg to share on our table. By the time they arrived with the last tables meals we had finished ours. My mum kept asking for gravy and mustard which eventually arrived just before we finished our meals. We found out the chef was on his own AND only 16 years old. Let me just add that the food was cooked well but definitely not worth almost £15 per head for 2 courses. Not recommended

Went to visit this traditional pub for Sunday Lunch for the first time since it changed hands. Whilst the pub is small, it has a quaint old fashioned rustic air to it, with good selection of drinks available. Sunday lunch was very reasonably priced - I had the beef which was nicely cooked and presented with plenty of meat. The landlord/chef was very pleasant and accommodating and clearly enjoys his work. All the staff are friendly. Pudding....Sticky toffee pudding and custard (there are other choices!) - half a million calories but exceedingly worth it . I booked this property months ago, just to have a rude lady calling today to say that they need to cancel because its been overbooked and the other party booked 3 rooms so they have to cancel my booking. I told her this is not acceptable as we booked for a wedding and its in 11 days her answer to me was that she is not calling to argue with me but just to let me know that they are cancelling and that they were trying to call me many times-not true. I had a message on 21st Oct from them on booking dot com, which I didn't see (i already had an email confirmation so wasn't checking, that the booking was confirmed) stating that they having some essential maintenance not that they over overbooked. So with 11 days to the wedding we are left without accommodation. I would avoid booking this place so you don't have to panic on a last minute like me now.

Booked a table in the bar (dog friendly) for Sunday lunch. Really nice inside and we have been before but only for drinks. It was exceptionally busy when we arrived (2.45pm).. there was queue at the 'host station', but there was no host, so we waited for 10 minutes to get our table. Nice table in the window out of the way of the crowd.. we both ordered the beef roast. It looked nice when the waiter set it down but he was so quick to leave, we then had to find someone else for salt, pepper, mustard etc. Sadly, it was very poor.. it was 'tepid' at best, the beef very fatty, the yorkshire puddings were soggy, roast potatoes seemed to have been cooked for hours and we were served a very small portion of greens to share.. for £20 per head, this really should be each. It was almost impossible to catch a member of staff, it was so busy... and nobody came back to check how our meal was. we felt it was a case of "pack them in" at the expense of quality. The staff were clearly ran off their feet and under a lot of pressure. We left feeling deflated, disappointed and hungry...
