If you are expecting a modern and polished dining establishment , go elsewhere. This place is a true, timeless local pub. Sussex Best on tap and a merry environment that guarantees a good time for all. Would heartily recommend to those seeking a warm, rustic pub with cheerful service.

I'm not going to leave a review on the food or lovely staff. But disgusted to be paying to eat when the local hunt is welcomed in after there disgusting and outdated, let alone illegal blood sport!!

Sunday afternoon visit. Harveys beer was flat and a little cloudy-only just about drinkable. Hoping for better, tried the DoomBar- this was vinegary and undrinkable. Notice at bar says no food due to 'chef'' injury- appears to be a pizza only menu when chef is well! Very disappointing not to get a decent pint of real ale due to lack of care or knowledge of proprietor.

The outside area of this pub is filthy. The children 'play area's is full of dog poo and cigarette buts. The tables are disgusting and have obviously not been cleaned for a long time. The wine glasses were dirty and the inside desperately needs attention. Thank goodness they weren't doing food as someone would have probably ended up with dysentery. Such a shame. Could be really nice with a bit of care and cleaning.

Lunchtime on a warm and sunny Bank Holiday Saturday and the car park is as empty as the garden. There are plenty of tables and chairs, umbrellas, an open barn and what appears to be a new children's play area. So where is everybody? Probably at a pub where the beer is drinkable and food is being served. A surly, disinterested barman who clearly hadn't checked his beers before opening informed me that it would take at least half an hour to change the barrel and replace my cloudy bitter of choice. The single server also told us that there wasn't any food as the kitchen was being refurbished. Kitchen refurbishment here is clearly a local pastime as according to other reviews, it seems to be a regular occurrence. As we left, another couple arrived and as they walked past the various signs extolling the real ales and traditional food available, we wished them luck. Very unimpressed and unlikely to ever return. Disappointing.

We have been using this pub infrequently for many years, not much changes. It was a dreary day and we thought we'd pop in for a couple of drinks. A small range of draught ales and usual spirits & sundries. Lovely barmaid, nice beers I had to sample three. Roaring log fire and as it was mid afternoon plenty of seating. Left well satisfied.

Recently taken over by the owners of The Dog and Duck @ Outwood. No food on Sunday - and no apology for that either. Nice enough pub with excellent outdoor and smoking area. I have the feeling the owners may have overstretched them selves

Just arrived to try the advertised food only to be told they have no kitchen staff but hoped to have some soon, probably suggests food was not good in the first place. Soon realised that was probably a lie as I noticed on TripAdvisor they have been without kitchen staff since Jan, is now July. Whoever the manager/owner is he should be ashamed to be still advertising food for 6 months yet no staff or intention of getting any. Wasted my time and money on a drink. Stay well clear as this place seems not to care. Will never ever return. Get your act together!!! And stop wasting people's time or at least stop advertising food.

We went here yesterday with some friends for a drink , the bar maid even topped up my friends pint after everyone wanted to take a sip to try it - sat outside in the beer garden enjoying the first spring sunshine and fancied ordering a take away. We were supplied with plates and cutlery and the phone number of a good curry house which would deliver to the pub. We ordered and 45 minutes later were able to eat outside ( excellent meal from the Spice Boys ) and we had no washing up! Nice experience.

"Eat, Drink and be Jolly" says the sign outside the Jolly Farmers. Not when we visited on a Sunday lunchtime. Despite several signs advertising delicious food Mon-Fri, Sat and Sun, no food was available (no reason given). The only sign of food was a fish and chip bus in the car park, and even that was shut. As for Jollity, I can't remember a more cheerless pub. Another case of someone taking a traditional old pub and taking the soul out of it. Original beams painted over, a scattering of basic uncomfortable chairs and tables, the obligatory pool table. There was a stove, and it was lit, but it did little to warm the bar or the atmosphere.

Having shared a lovely coronation chicken panini and salad in July 2017, my wife and I were really looking forward to sampling the food again at lunchtime today. There is a board in the grass verge close to the main road in Blindley Heath which advertises the pub including its home cooked food and good beers, however on arrival we were extremely disappointed to be told they were not serving any food as the kitchen was closed until further notice, due to new management. Sadly for this reason we won’t be rushing back there. Andy & Doreen Chatterton Tatsfield

Having been in on a couple of occasions for a beer which is excellent, thought we would try supporting our local for a meal. The barmaid was lovely, though busy serving at the bar on her own, but the meal was dreadful. One baked camembert starter two of us chose and then the lemon meringue pie two of us chose were not available, every course took what seemed an age to come (we ordered around 7pm and had still not finished our meal by 9.30pm). The whitebait, scampi and steaks we had were very overcooked and dry and the sticky toffee pudding had been microwaved till it was completely solid at the bottom and burnt in the middle - it was completely inedible, coffees were only warm. Having complained we were given a rebate on the bill by the barmaid, but after the first and second courses it became embarrassing. We understand the cook on duty was not the main/usual one, but sadly, once bitten, twice shy about going there again to eat. Sorry!

We visited this pub on 9 July 2017 on route to Nymans Garden (National Trust) and we really enjoyed our short time there soaking up the sun in the large garden, which has plenty of picnic tables. The music in the background was good and the coronation chicken panini's with salad and Dorito crisps were excellent. In fact in our experience the only other local pub that can make coronation chicken as good as that, is The Grasshopper on The Green @ Westerham, Kent. We understand the restaurant is currently being refurbished and is due to reopen soon, which means there will be an even larger selection of food to order from the menu. We aim to return to this pub at the first opportunity. Andy & Doreen Chatterton Tatsfield

Having made a table reservation on the expectation for enjoying a traditional Sunday roast, we were disappointed to learn on our arrival the kitchen was closed for refurbishment. The snack type dishes failed to impress my younger guests. The saving grace was the Harveys ale.

Bigger than it looks from the outside, with a good area for kids and a lovely beer garden with covered smoking area, I'm not sure if they are currently doing food or not as the restaurant part seems to be open a few months and then up for renting again, which is a shame. The staff are great & prices really good, keep an eye out for it, blink and you'll miss it

We booked here for an 80th birthday get together. We had organised a buffet and were given a price. When we turned up at the Jollys Farmers we were told there was no Buffett and we had to use the fish and chip stall outside which to be fair to the young lady on the stall was lovely. When we queried this with the manager he was not bothered at all, in fact we found him to be quite rude! Save your money and go to other pubs in the area for special occasions.

Returned to this lovely garden centre and was warmly welcomed into the restaurant,it was early lunchtime but there was a good buzz of others enjoying their food. There is a seasonal menu and wanting a fairly light lunch we opted for the mezze platter to share. The service is first class our waitress very friendly,we ordered a beer and glass of red wine to accompany the dish. The drinks and food arrived speedily and it was delicious, colourful, and beautifully presented. Our waitress returned to check everything was ok which of course it was.We had coffee afterwards then left.We were acknowledged by all the staff working there who cheerfully said Goodbye. This is a venue not to be missed,I noticed the lunch menu, they also do breakfast and whilst there at the weekend they were serving a beautiful afternoon tea to a group of ladies…I look forward to a return visit soon…Yours Stuart…
