The Jaflong in Cherwell

Great naans, that's about it! On the surface it seems to be all right, but when you ask for anything there is a problem. They were out of larger, they were out of lemonade, they were out of prawns etc The gents toilet had a sticker on it saying 'out of oder' And then we came to the bill, they said card machine was not working1

Outstanding! Food was too notch, service from the waiter was also top draw. Well worth the trip. Would definitely come here again.

Having been here a few times before with my partner, I booked a table for my birthday with my partner & parents, who came down specially. We got in, it was quiet and we were seated straightaway. Partner ordered a lager that he waited for ten minutes and had to ask again as it hadn't arrived. Ordered a white wine as my mum can't drink rosé or red due to being allergic. My dad pointed to the bottle we wanted under the white wine section to the younger waiter who didn't know what we meant and then we were brought a rosé.. to which the older waiter when I pointed out it was pink, insisted it was the colour of the glass, yet when it was poured it came out pink. I had asked to see the label but he refused to and told us again it was white. I saw the label and it blatantly had rosé on it! This was after saying again my mum couldn't drink it due to being allergic. This was finally when the lager came. (My partner felt as if the younger one had taken an immediate and unnecessary dislike to him) After finally getting the correct wine, we had our meal served although my partner had to wait for his main after 3 others had been served plus the majority of the sundries and when he asked about it, the younger waiter seemed annoyed we asked. It took my partner calling over to the older one who finally replied that it was on its way. Now after all this, and finally getting everything, we tucked in and were enjoying our meal and chatting away but noticed the younger waiter kept looking over and hovering within a couple of tables, to which I ended up leaving the table mid-meal and making a point of going past him to the older gent to ask to speak to him & I had to explain we didn't want to be hovered over and if we needed help we would ask. He said something to his colleague and after that we were left alone. It is a small restaurant and yes, wait staff are there to anticipate needs but not to keep looking over without approaching and asking how the meal is - I ended up having to be comforted out of a potential panic attack of having to go out my comfort zone to make a complaint. Overall it was a lovely night and we will go again, it's just a shame the level of service wasn't what we had become used to every other time we have visited. There is another gentleman we have met and have chatted and laughed with and this is why we returned alongside good food. I have rated as Average due to previous service but had this been a first visit, it would have been the only one. We understand as I am in customer service myself that people have off days but to be lied to and potentially causing health issues (they either didn't listen or didn't care) especially on a quiet night where they had a chance to maintain their usual good service. It might be a while until we try again

Currently has a 0 on scores on the doors in the most recent hygiene rating. A zero! This used to be a good place but this is inexcusable. We decided not to eat there.

Me and a few of my friends went to celebrate her birthday and the service was excellent, great food and amazing prices. I definitely recommend and are coming back soon.

Ali and the team organised the food for a birthday party of 30. It couldn’t have been better. They visited the day before to make sure they knew exactly where we were, and made everything very easy for us, with chafing dishes for the various starters, main courses and rice. Everything was delicious, and very good value. Would strongly recommend.

Awful meal, everthing looked dirty, including the waiters. I actually had to spit out 2 pieced of rancid chicken. I'm actually surprised I wasn't ill after my visit. Avoid at all costs.

We found this restaurant by chance while visiting the Bicester Excellent service by friendly staff. The food was lovely and very reasonably priced. I would recommend.

Came with the family during the weekday as always very welcoming and had all the right tools to accommodate my 3 year and 10 months old. With all that been said I MUST mention the off menu dish that was suggested by the waiter Dilly (son of the owner) a dish which he calls “DILLY’S BIRANI”……… this is the best ever thing I had in my whole life. I advise anyone going to Jaflong to ask for a Dilly’s Birani (only Dilly the waiter can make it)

I travel 10 miles to pick up our takeaway. We have tried a number of dishes mow and the quality and flavours are superb. Having tried most Restaurants around I have no problem in recommending Jaflong as the best.

Many times have I eaten here and many times will I continue to eat here. The food is fantastic, the staff, especially Dill, exceeds customer service expections (including recommendations). Jaflong has been around like forever so we thought we all go back for some hearty goodness and they still don’t disappoint. The waiters were really helpful and knew what they are talking about when it comes to the food. This time round I came with friends for a reunion I had a chicken rogan as my main with pilau rice but one of the waiter suggested to have the rogan and rice as normal in my mouth but to stuff a piece of poppadom and chew........ OMG it reminded me of the scene from Pixar Ratatouille. Most definitely will a returning customer well more regular.

Hi i ordered an Indian takeaway from Jaflong restaurant over the weekend of 25th April this saturday and despite of the current situation it i have to say it is doing a good job . On deliveries and takeaways and the food was very very nice hope they still continue on and i will be still continue to order food very soon again especially the tandoori kingprawns. We were really disappointed with the meal. It was extremely bland and most of the curry was just onions. Naan was burnt and dry. When we got back, we realised they missed a few of the items from our order also.

I've often enjoyed the takeaway food service from The Jaflong, but this was my first visit, with my partner and my 11 year old daughter for an evening in the actual restaurant. We were met inside by the smiling face of the owner Dhilli Ali, who showed us to our table, whereupon he arranged for one of the waiters to bring us some drinks from the bar, whilst he went off to bring some poppadoms and relishes which we devoured whilst we looked at the menu. This was to be the start of a great evening out, because the level of service was just as good as the quality of the the food, which was just so fresh and flavoursome. We all enjoyed our meals and would like to thank Dhilli and his team, including the unseen kitchen staff for an excellent night out. We'll certainly be going back soon. The bill was equally a welcomed surprise at just £90, which included our bar bill and two bottles of very nice Malbec. Highly recommend you give it a try.

Thank you for your lovely food. Nothing better then authentic Indian food. It was made with love and warmth. Couldn’t ask for anything more. The mouth freshener was different very nice.

Girlfriend ordered vegetarian samosas and discovered she had been served meat ones. The waiter laughed and thought it was funny as did the waiter when we paid. I am also allergic to tomatoes although can tolerate small amounts, despite me saying do not tomatoes, sat in it was a whole one. Waiter also laughed. Food generally good but it is very small and crowded, our table was far too small for 4 people.

My mother lives in Bicester and every year we come up to see the Christmas lights being put on and it’s a great show. We went to her local Indian. I had Russel Special and my family had a mixture of Grilled and Curries and it all tasted Fantastic. The service was good and always made sure we were looked after. It was a nice touch.

We've used Jaflong for takeaways for many years and I even left a 5* review in February, but since then our last two have been not so good. I always ask for a plain dish to be made spicy (I know, sacrilege - but it's what I like!) but on the last two occasions this wasn't done. Last night the onion bhaji's were undercooked - it was like eating soggy raw onions and the chicken in the dishes was dry. Time to try elsewhere I think.

This was our first visit to this restaurant and we'll definitely be coming back. The food came quickly and was excellent, the tandoori mixed grill was tender and full of flavour and the other dishes were tasty without being too rich. Best curry we've had in ages.

Had a lovely meal here, staff were nice, food was good. It’s very bright in the restaurant so my only comment would be to lower the lights just a little to make it a bit more of a relaxing atmosphere on a cold winters night. Food was mostly served medium, if you don’t like a bit of heat ask for it mild. I’d definitely return.

You can guarantee a warm welcome, good food and good service. There is a wide selection on the menu at a fair price. Take a big appetite with you.

Very old building which is lovely except when eating in you can feel motion sick with the floor constantly moving with every foot step, the service was fast but not all the friendly, the food was ok did lack a bit of flavour but wasn't the worst place I've been.

What a waste of time. The food was not at all authentic and so bland. Will not be returning. The food was immaculately served but all tasted so boring. The fish pakoras were a disgrace taste wise. Not for me!

We've used this place for years. Always great food and excellent sercive. Tonight we saw a total ***** ** customer kick off. Complained about his vindaloo, refused to let the the team change it, ate it then refused to pay. Then he said he'd leave a bad review so I'm getting one in first. Total dh. I recently went to the jaflong after a long time last Saturday evening with my friend and was still great as before good service, good food one dish in particular was recommended which they called Russel special (which included chicken, lamb, prawns and extra garlic) which I say was amazing so much flavours and went well with garlic naan and a nice pint. If I come again any time soon I’ll get this again

Our group of four ordered completely different dishes. Lamb bhuna, chicken Vindaloo, chicken achari and lamb dhansak. Obviously very different dishes, on there arrival they all looked exactly the same and pretty much tasted the same. They obviously use one (overly tomatoey) mother sauce and make very slight adjustments according to each dish.

Don't miss this lovely Indian restaurant that serve great food and servive. We had nice lamp briyani., Chicken Tikka masala and beef vindaloo.
