Was a beautiful day and a lovely view

We had 2 visits here on a recent stay, the first we stopped in for a drink. We ordered on the app and the drinks took 20min to arrive and were warm when they did so we left quickly afterwards. It wasnt what I would call busy, there was very little people sittting inside and only 40% of tables were taken outside. We returned the following night for our sons birthday sitting inside this time. I chose to order drinks at the bar this time which is fairly small considering the size of the premises. There only seemed to be 1 person serving drinks whilst another took food orders, when there was a queue for drinks a manager appeared served 2 girls then disappeared again even though there was still a queue. We ordered food through the app again and was surprised when our starters came out with our mains. We were told that "people often have their starter with their main" which does happen but we had ordered soup. The waitress said she would take the mains back to the kitchen but "couldn't guarantee the quality of the food" as it would be under a heat lamp. When the mains did return they obviously weren't great. Everything looks nice and new but it dosnt feel all that clean with most surfaces feeling sticky and the toilets were grim and had no hand soap. There seems to be lots of young staff in there but I question if they have any customer service training and there seems a lack of visible management. I saw the same manager ferrying bottles of wine in an Lidl basket to the bar which looked like he had just been there to buy the stuff. The place looks nice but big isn't always better.

Gracie or grace was amazing was only cleaning up and I asked her a few questions , so knowledgeable and such a lovely girl in my eyes employee of the month !!!! Such a lovely girl if you ask for service of Grace you will get it . And the bar lady that made me a purple rain she was lovely too..

Chips to hot and slow Service and chip taste horrible and rude staff and they were moody

Went for a middle of the street 3 stars as didn’t get a chance to play games and give a full and proper review. Went downstairs to an empty games area, asked to play darts but was told all the darts were broken so not possible. Went to pool table, no one there but a trail of £1 coins on the side…waited for 5mins to see if anyone was playing…after that went to the bar again and asked, they said someone was playing but they’ve popped out for a bit! We went and got a drink, in the 15-20mins we were there we didn’t see anyone come back to the pool table (despite the trail of £1 coins still being there). Didn’t seem overly fair as we would’ve got 2-3 games in during that time.

Great place to go for a drink on paignton seafront, nice large beer garden with plenty of seating. Would recommend.

when we arrived we were greeted and welcomed to a table and had our order taken by the rudest young man ever. he told us to hurry up because he "doesn't have all day waiting for pensioners to glue their bones back together" I asked the young gentleman his name to report him to a manager. callum was his name. once we had placed our order he came out with our food, slammed it on the table with no knife and fork to eat it with. I had to ask another waiter for some tableware which she apologised and handed us. I thought that was just a one of but when it came to taking our dishes away the young boy came to collect our dishes only to ask, "haven't you two wrinkle faces turned into ghosts yet?" I exclaimed excuse" me!"he walked off. The only positive event was the food. The fish and chips in which I ate were above average for the area. It couldn't get any worse yet it did, when it came to paying for the meal, the boy made a cheeky remark about us paying in shillings or in sheep. Me and my husband ignored it, knowing the younger generation are just looking for a reaction. paid for the meal and left. we will NOT be returning!!!!

Wow! The food is incredible! I had the quack quack burger: a smash burger with hoisin duck on top and what a combo it proved to be! The chips are proper authentic pub style; crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside! My kids had a burger and a pizza; the pizza was a great size and soooo much cheese. Would definitely recommend!

1st visit today, treated myself to a ice cold san Miguel £5.60 which i thought was ok for sea front dinning in a prime location with a super atmosphere I’ll be back this Tuesday coming with the wife & kids, we will give u a Whirl Cheers

Great food. Was staying in the area for 4 nights. 2 of these nights I chose to eat here. On both occasions the experience was the same. Great staff, friendly atmosphere and decent food. First meal was Chicken New Yorker which was excellent. Very tasty and a large portion size. Second meal was Fish and Chips. Lovely large peice of cod cooked in Devon Beer Batter. Staff were attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend. Order from table via website is a huge plus. This meant we could order at our own pace and leave the staff to do what they clearly do best.. keep this place running smoothly. Bar and outside very well presented. Clean and despite both times being very busy, tables were efficiently emptied. Outside this is even more important due to seagulls swooping the moment guests leave. Highly recommend.

Food was amazing. Our group had the chicken burger, katsu chips, lasagna & garlic bread, all delicious, all good portions. Lovely. Unfortunately, we had to wait 50mins for our food 😬 Drinks came out in 10mins, which was fine, but ended up having to ask a waitress for an update on our food after 40mins. Decided not to stay for dessert for this reason. Also thought the music was very loud both inside & out.

Popped in to Watch the charity shield football match on the large screen outside. Manchester City v Manchester utd amazing atmosphere, great food, cold drinks. Great afternoon.

Popped in for a drink in the beer garden in the sunshine and i would certainly go back. We just had a drink but the food that was coming out looked lovely. There was netting over the outside to stop the seagulls which is great. Our children are teenagers but there is an onsite playarea which looked good. You can also order via QR Code.

Terrible, Dont waste your money, 2 stars is generous and only due to the two good points I mention below. Ok so good points first. Staff are friendly and kids play area is great. Bad points. It seems the entire restaurant is ran in the most corner cutting and money saving way possible. This is reflected most in the food. Drinks We ordered 2 kids fruit shoot style drinks and 2 cokes, neither of which was a known brand. The coke was okay but like the tesco or aldi own brand, not quite spot on. Food (worst bit) We ordered 1 pizza between my wife and kids (they were already quite full from ice cream earlier) and I ordered a southern fried chicken burger. The pizza was the same experience as the drinks. It just tasted like an approximation of the real thing. Just left you with a frown. The chicken burger was dreadful, if I was not starving I would've sent it back. The alleged southern fried exterior was nothing of the sort. Its was more like a badly battered piece of cod with absolutely NO southern fried taste. And even stranger this "batter" was one thin single layer, like some chicken had been put in a plastic bag and melted over it. The coleslaw was really nice but in a TINY plastic container (literally a tablespoon if that) and tasted a lot like tesco or coop finest. And the chips were perfect. In retrospec, i can't believe I did not send it back but it took nearly 25 ish minutes to get here and I was starving and did not want to wait another 25 mins for something else. No follow up fro waitress on hiw the food was. Last point that was really stupid. We were sat out the front as far away from the bar indoors as possible. Our food arrived with no cutlery and when i asked for some I was told (politely) to go back inside and get some from the bar. Ridiculous seeing as they will go inside to get you sauce. The prices they charge put them in the leagues of chain restaurants that get it right and do it well. And this place fails badly. Terrible experience.

The waitress passed my 14 yr old daughter a pizza on a tray come fresh out of the oven and burnt her fingers! lasagne was a bowl of mince and cheese not much pasta in sight. Chilli was served with pilau rice, should come with white rice. Overly disappointed!

Blonde guy in a shirt. I placed a drinks order and he totally blanked me. Dud not say a word whilst serving. Arrogant.

Very well run. Food was served quickly. Expensive for what it is. But is a tourist spot. Play area for small people.

Disgusting behaviour from the staff. The place is completely disgusting way over priced and the staff are arrogant. Have used it for many years but never again after the experience I’ve just had in there with my family. The place should be shut down with a government health warning In response to your comment my review of your establishment is completely true and accurate so I would suggest you take the criticism on board and up your game. If you don’t like it then I would suggest you find alternative employment as the pub trade is clearly not for you. You did not check the equipment so you are a liar or I would not have had to write this truthful review

My two children wanted to play pool so paid the £5 deposit which was fine got to the table and started to play pool only to find one of the tips on one of the cues was missing. Was then told by the arrogant staff that I broke the cue and would not get my money back. Have been coming to this place for years but will never come back ever again. Disgusting people and I just wonder how many people they are ripping off with this scam

Been here in previous years and food is always bang on, the chicken starter with bbq sauce is my favourite and lovely atmosphere would 100% recommend and they have live music m, karaoke ect

I had lunch, and it was a decent tuna sandwich. A good size with salad, crisps and fries. The only downer was the cheap cola they have on tap. It tastes like cheap coke from Lidl.

We were able to reserve a table same day. Having previously visited we knew what to expect from the menu - all of the party 4 adults 2 children opted for a carvery. The server generously gave our children an extra Yorkshire as they didn’t particularly have lots of meat. There is a choice of two meats from the selection. Very tasty carvery! Desert saw various puddings at the table sundaes, cookie dough pie, churros all enjoyed. They also serve alcohol free larger - Heineken. There was live entertainment - a band of 3 guitarist and female vocalist very enjoyable 👏 and it created a great atmosphere outside. The children enjoyed the newly renovated outdoor play area. We won’t hesitate to visit again.

It was OK live music and very expensive beer , taking advantage of holiday trade but that's business, what ever that is ? You could go spoons and save a fortune

We were really looking forward to a lovely carvery on Friday evening before heading home, having had a delicious one here before. Unfortunately, we were bitterly disappointed. We went inside only to find the counter completely empty, and everything switched off. I would have thought it would have been available on Friday evening at the height of summer. No signs, no explanation. Poor and disappointed. We ate elsewhere.

Good for drinks. Nice play area for children. The few times I've been the food quality not great for the price.

Overall not bad, didn't find it very accessible for a pram though. I had a carvery which was very nice but limited options.

Beautiful Sunday carvery, fresh and so tasty. You do have a little wait in a queue but it is really worth it. Staff very friendly.

Been here a few times now and it is absolutely amazing. We had a Sunday roast and it was lovely. Great price for the amount of food. Also the perfect place to have a drink in the sunshine. The park is also brilliant for the little kids to keep them occupied. Will definitely be returning.

Carvery was perfect and also food on the menu is very good also. I'm a very fussy eater and find fault with every single meal I eat in restaurants.........On this occasion, I couldn't fault a single thing. Food is 10/10. I've been back a few times now. Keep up the good work 👍

Literally still sat in the Hyde Denby doing this review. Had to do straight away. Had a carvery my god can't fault if. Everything superbly cooked. As for the meat wow so much on my plate well worth the money.

Wish I had a pub like this where I live. Lots of tables and watched the Euros game there on the big screen outside. Staff were friendly and the garlic mushrooms were fantastic. Reasonably priced food and drink and a 30 second walk from the beach. Lovely on a hot day!

This place is the best. Lots of outdoor seating, great views, great food, friendly service- the list goes on. I go here every time I come down to Paignton, and I love it every time. Thank you so much to everyone at the Hyde Dendy for making this place the best pub in Paignton.

Violent place, poor door staff who fail to de escalate situations and dont have the skills required- in the past they have removed drinks from perfectly sober patrons and pour them away with no explanation! Avoid! So many better places near by.

Brilliant, met with family and tried another place locally and prices were very high. Came to Hyde Dendy, good price, nice good and good portions. Lovely to sit outside and enjoy.

I can't believe I have to write this review in 2024 but this experience was shocking I cannot just let it go So 5 of us went to watch the Euro games yesterday 3 English friend and 2 of us foreigners It was all good we eat we drink spend our money then between the two game before England game started I ordered a bottle of corona through the qr like before but this time I get in a paper cup. I told a waitress I would like it in a bottle but she said they not allowed to get out bottles anymore only papercup from now on. I wasn't happy because I only like beer from bottle I don't like it from a paper cup so I thought I'm not gonna drink more but rules are rules so what can you do. Then like 10 minutes later 2 of my English friend ordered 2 cider and they get it with a glass bottle just like before. I said thats weird even we joke about it no glass for foreigners. So I went inside I talked to one of the staff and she said yeah sorry about this but you can get a bottle just get in the queue I did and then when it was my turn other staff told me no.cannot have bottle not allowed. I went outside meantime my 2 English friend get cider again in bottle no problem for them. I said I can't believe this. So my other foreigner friend there is no way its real so he gonna go in. He did asked they said ok queued up then get refused. Exact same experience He came back empty handed when my English friends get it in a bottle again so I looked around I just saw a waitress passing us with a few bottle in her tray then I looked the table next to us and I see an English lady sitting down with a fresh bottle of corona in her hand. That was the time I realised no joke its for real,no bottle for foreigners only paper cup for us but English people can get bottle. That point i just stand up and left because it was clear I'm not gonna able to get a bottle of beer as a paying customer. Obviously I experienced different treatment as a foreigner but never in any establishment as a paying customer and never to this extent It was shocking and you can imagine how I felt after I left. So the place is nice food decent but if you a foreigner I don't recommend this place because you gonna get a different treatment then locals apparently. Which is kind of sad in 2024

Excellent meal, 3 adults, 4 kids, all food came together in reasonable time. All food hot and tasted nice. Service great by friendly young girl. Only moan is that they gave the kids a puzzle page which you can draw on, but had no crayons or pens, found that strange. All good though with the food.

Went and had my roast and couldn’t fault it really enjoyed it will definitely be back for another 10/10

Had a Sunday Roast Carvery And I wish I hadn’t. The Roast was cold and it tasted nasty. Not good quality food as you would expect. What a disappointment! So would not recommend this place.

Typical holiday pub, ok food & beer not too bad. Dog friendly.

Went to Hyde Dendy for food and watch the football to find all the tables near the screens taken up with shirts so could not sit near the screen 2 and a half hours before the England kick off, thought I was in bloody Germany, also Hyde Denny employees holding the tables!!!!

They have put netting up to deter birds the problem is when seagulls do what they do on the wing it hits the netting and sprays over a wider area which it what happened to me it sprayed over me and into my newly bought pint after I cleaned myself off I asked about replacing it which was flatly refused as it wasn't there fault which I disagree with she was quite rude so I left and I won't be going back avoid at all cost. Go next door staff are much more friendly.

Tables a bit sticky and service a little slow on the drinks when ordering online, but overall, it was very good, and the oreo sundae was to die for

I am disabled and I am wheelchair user and I wanted to come here today to eat Sunday carvery with my partners family and we were all turn away because there was no access for wheelchairs users to come and eat inside. I feel as a disabled person this is very wrong of a pub to not have no access. I would not recommend this pub and I would not come here again

Well what can I say ? What a gem Hyde dandy is , we phoned up and got a table just like that , , we had a warm welcome and told to seat where ever felt right for us …. Looked at the menu and what a choice, fabulous, we went for the pork belly strips , cooked to perfection with a large amount of things to compliment them , mushroom tomatoes chips peas , and the price was more then value for money , my compliments to the chef the staff and the owner for getting it right …. WE WILL BE BACK

Went for what I had hoped would be a nice family meal today. When the food arrived the turkey thia curry's we had ordered had 90% turkey skin/fat and 10% turkey, there was a fly inbedded in the poppadom that came with the chicken curry, the vegetable chilli tasted terrible and all were cold coming out. I don't normally complain but this food was so bad I took my plate to the manager uneaten and complained. He offered to reheat the food or wanted something else from the menu. Obviously we didn't and will never eat there again. I can honestly say I have never been presented with a worse meal. I felt physically sick. Avoid eating here.

Excellent food , and the outside seating area with the live music was great.

Called in mainly due to its sea front location for somthing to eat & drinks, and was disappointed with the food we was presented with...my beef jalfrezi ( off the specials board) was a disaster - watery tasteless sauce with small chunks of very chewy beef and it was an insult to call it a curry ! My partner who wasn't so hungry tried the 'nachos' with cheese & bacon and left most of it - thier was no salsa or peppers/ onions in between the layers of nachos just melted cheese & bits of ham... obviously these people don't know how to cook combine this with poor ingredients and you never go back 🙄

Visited here whilst on holiday in Paignton. It was our daughters birthday and we were looking for a nice meal. We were not dissapointed. Food was lovely. Nice atmosphere and friendly welcoming staff. Would particularly like to mention Harry who took our order. He was very patience with all our questions re allergies and couldn't have been more helpful. A good experience all round.

Just had worst service ever from the barmaid! She's definitely in the wrong job, no manners, please or thank you. Didn't get a full pint either, shocking!!! The guy that served me my first pint was much better, very friendly and polite. This barmaid needs to get a different job or go on a custo.er service course, absolutely shocking! I have worked in the pub trade for 22 years, and the service from this person was awful!!!

Visited this pub and was blown away by the delicious food! The atmosphere was cozy, and the service was excellent. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal in a relaxed setting.

The staff are amazing the best I’ve ever known they couldn’t do enough for us I’ve forgotten the girls names but they know who they are, your brilliant ,anyway without doubt the best roast I’ve had out ,it’s very hard to get a good roast and this was amazing,thank you and me and my mate are going regularly

Security out of order. Hit a girl and throwing water over her. For description the security had receding hair line white and about 5.10. Not the first time I’ve seen him do stuff similar to women. He had body cam footage that “didn’t work”. Complete abuse of power.

We have our family Sunday dinner here most weeks as they cater for vegans and meat eaters so everyone is happy. Great real ale and the play park is brilliant. Lea and the team are Fab.

Been told to pick any seat which was fine then got told that it was reserved! But we’re booked a table for 2 people and a table wasn’t available for us. Only one table which had 2 seats but being told it was reserved! Keep in mind they’re knew we’re booked a table as we went to the bar and said we book a table for 2 and told the staff at the bar what name it was under! And there was no reserved sign on the table but like I said we’re booked a table for 2 in advance! And that was the only one table available for 2 and we're arrived on time for the booking of our table for two Totally disappointing! Won’t be returning!!!!!

4 of us ate there this afternoon. Service was spot on. Food was excellent. Pizza. Fish n chips. Chicken. All very nice. Its all very clean. And the prices are reasonable too. . Highly recommend this place. 👌

Wasn't impressed at all. Jacket potato was burnt and salad was very, very small. Staff were really pleasant. Won't be coming here again.

Stopped by for a drink and food on separate occasions. Food is delicious and good value for money. Good selection of drinks available at the bar, however, the house cola on draught is the worst thing ever. Tables later in the evening were a bit sticky for my liking in the pub section but overall it's a tidy and clean space. The staff is friendly.

Cannot believe you allow people to vape on your premises. With staff walking by all the time. When we complained as people were eating nearby the staff member said she didn't know what the rules were. We asked if we could have a cigarette and she was unsure. Surely you should train your staff on all aspects of the job. I was lead to believe that smoking and vaping was not allowed on the premises

Nice place to have a drink and food

I came here about a week ago and sat outside with my pug as I wasn't sure if it was dog friendly.I ordered food to my table and when the food was delivered a lovely member of staff came over and asked me if I would like to come inside and told me that I can bring my dog in as they are dog friendly as she didn't want me to get wet and cold in the rain.She helped me carry my food inside and was very nice and helpful.since then I have been here again with my dog and I love that I can bring him with me and also order food to my table without interacting with anyone as I am autistic and struggle to talk to people.The food is really nice and reasonably priced.I would definitely recommend it!

Always amazing food and lovely place to drink with a fantastic beer garden! Jess Martin and Lea Chase also being very accommodating for my dairy intolerance! All the staff are friendly and helpful! Great pub!

Played pool and had drinks, cheap drinks and good selection. We ordered food that came out super fast and had were massive portions! We were offered a takeaway box and took it back with us! Lovely evening!
